It would be cool if Personal Story was more ,,,well,,, idk,,,PERSONAL perhaps?
Lets put together a list of player made events, to give people in t he game ideas for making events.
GvG has been a popular event lately made by players. Hopefully we get a GvGer that can explain how its done.
Escort Missions are another player made event that is extremely fun, yet challenging. The goal is to escort a group of low levels from the low level lands to Orr. Each low level as well as high level, get three deaths before eliminated from the event. fail to get a single low level to orr and the whole event fails. No way points and no repair of armor. the number of deaths for elimination vary by the event director.
If you know any more Player made events, please share.
wanna have small scaled tasks for tiny little player groups against a few NPCs huh? There is something called PvE content in this game, might want to check it out
splitting the zerg…pff…a 100 player zerg is always better to have than split-up zerg and small groups doing tasks you can do on the fly-by anyway.
+1 for the small scaled solo tasks. Why do you need it in wvw when the whole concept is to support massive blob vs blob battles. You need to do solo tasks go play pve dont ask for it in wvw.
-1 for 100 player zerg. It is always good to split up the zerg and sandwich your enemy and kill them :-p
The concept is Faction vs Faction. that doesnt mean simply Zerg vs Zerg. thats where you are confusing the two. Because Even PvE in WvW has a element of Faction vs Faction. Faction vs Faction( FvF) isnt just about PvP.
So solo task can be an impact on the battlefield in unique interesting ways.
Because factions would have to have players who like the risk of exploring hostile enemy land.
While at the same time the factions will need to set up smaller man hunt groups to hunt these scouts and explorers.
new layer of tactics added to WvW. thats major content right there baby!!
Destroying the people from other dimensions is all very well and good, but what’s our motivation for controlling all these keeps and towers? Our worlds magically benefit from that just because? Some background on how and why we get the passive buffs would be nice.
Well those are simply part of the war. gain land and terrtory in the enemy lands.
The WvW lore wise takes place in the mist, which connects all these parallel dimensions.
I believe the towers and keeps are just the game mechanics for War structures like in a RTS game, without actual building.
great post OP. totally agree.
I remember the huge debate around the time when Anet revealed that they would have an official forum of their own for GW2. the GW2Guru community erupted.
But a year later, how do you like the decision now?
Which forum do you enjoy the most and why?
which page did Anet comment on?
So WvW takes place in the mists, which to my understanding means that these events have taken place already, or will at sometime in the future. Other than that, is there anything else we know about what’s going on? I know it’s probably a stretch, but is there any lore speculation as to why we’re fighting in WvW?
The worlds as we know it, are simply alternate dimensions of our same world we play on. The Mist opens up the dimensions to one another. The Dimensional people see each other as outsiders and must be destroyed. So they go to war against each other.
Game mechanic wise each world has different people, but lore wise, all Worlds have the same people. So your character exist in other worlds, just not gameplay wise of course.
WvW needs to add Solo task which will by design split up the zerg a bit, and make scouts and small groups a decent role in the WvW game.
Idea I had:
How about making a new supply type, that has to be collected from random places in the world and then manually ran back to your nearby keep or base, in order for the material to be processed and usable for something. Make it so you cant way point while carrying it, and drop it at location when downed. this creates a form of explore—->gather->escort role that provides for the overall team, while rewarding solo explorers a bit for their duty.
Another Solo task would be a new gathering task to gather wild animals of a certain type, and escort them back to base, to be used as a new patrol Elite Champion General unit that will go into the world and attack enemy structures as their Cavalry units. This adds a new element of Challenge and tactics by bring in NPC forces into the open field battles, while also rewarding the solo style gameplay. breaks up the zerging a bit.
Idea number 3 is the Death Ray Blimp. Metal Scraps are scattered across the map in random places. Explorers find pieces and return them back to their base in order to build the Death Ray Blimp, which allow a player to control and drop unique field effects on the area of their choice on the map, as well as allow the user to see all enemies in the field of area. think of it as a sort of Far Site ability. But with offensive and defensive abilities.
whats the issues Rangers have with pets?
what has been the cause of most the hate over pets?
IoJ, BP, and CD had a ridiculous one Sunday night over SM. The fight lasted well over an hour and involved multiple respawns by all parties involved. We finally lost SM as BP made a huge push and cleared out SM while we had to fall back to our keep and protect a push by CD. Twas quite entertaining.
this the problem. usually these three way fights happens at SMC. but thats rarely attacked and taken in a way that allows it.
When was the last time you had a major 3 faction battle in WvW?
With all three factions attacking each other at the same time in the same location.
I notice that very rarely do we get three way battles like that.
most of the time, battles are one faction or another. never both at the same time.
Anybody experiencing this?
wow this event has changed a lot
I made a thread in the Suggestion forum, which I will also pop here.
But there is a designed limit on how many Siege weapons can be in the same area at the same time.
Originally I thought about how it would be if a group of players could coordinate siege building, to layout a wall of rams, to guard the ranged siege weapons out in the middle of a field.
This would create a mini base of sorts. But of course requires time, currency, and coordination to make such a thing.
but the limit in sieges per area, destroys this idea.
But what if such a strategy was possible. How would the ability for a world, to build a mini base on the map, change the way we fight?
Would the WvW battles get more fun, or less fun?

here is my idea for this

========
I had an idea for WvW. it comes from an idea of making a base in the field using Siege weapons. but I discovered there is a limit in the game that prevents this.
So I figured a better idea would be to simply have a build-able base in the game.
it functions as a mini keep that players can place at a location. requires lots of resources to build.
it features:
*2 Floors for combat with walls and gate of its own. Basecamp also has its own floor to make it easier on terrain.
*1 Structural siege weapon slot of choice.
*1 Boss Champion patrol guard
*2 Random Class generated Champion Guards (Guardian/Warrior/Mesmer/Ranger/Thief/Elementalist/ Engineer/Necro/Monk)
*Upgrades
Some upgrades that can be applied to the Basecamp:
*Repair, Banker and Merchants
*Time Warp Waypoint – this is a way point that has a cap limit of 5 uses within every hour. so 5 different players can use it within the time limit before it reset.
*Scouting Blimp Launcher- this is a device that can launch from the base. cost resources to make. as well as resources to use. it moves from location of user’s choice and can display enemy and allies in that area. also can drop down AoE blast bombs in that area.
I get the feeling that Anet/NC are holding back on the new skills/new class/new zone updates until some of the new MMO competition comes close to coming out.
its a good strategy for Anet/NC, but I hate this wait. I want more fun in the game. I am getting bored of the current skills in the game. some classes I simply dont enjoy as much as others. I would like new skills on the classes I do enjoy. Maybe even new classes to try to experience something new and never seen in the game before.
also new zones. With new events to play.
But we likely cant get this stuff because the major update like this usually gets saved for big releases of competition.
how do you all feel about this?

My last thread got deleted. But I still believe that the Meta events are fun, and that fun shouldnt be reduced by increasing timer for respawns like you currently been doing.
I still want meta events to be important for completion, but I dont really care much about the rewards of gear from them. I just want them to be important and not something to ignore.
I would like more important meta events added to the game or at least reduce the timer on them all.
I am very glad you put in the work by adding new elements to the combat in these events. But I would like more work done in that area as well. maybe a different new combat element randomly for each meta event, to make each fight never the same.
But MAW event is also not spawning. been waiting here for 2 hours.
I had to guess to another server for the FE.
this is crazy!!!
Yeah I been standing here for the Fire Ele timer. and never spawn. back on cooldown. I want to try out the new fight mechanics. but cant get a meta for my level to spawn anymore.
GW2 is like a console game. its appealing for short term enjoyment. It wasnt even designed with MMO gamers in mind first. It was designed to appeal to Console and non MMO gamers to pull those players into the product. Anet admitted to this for a while now back before the game release. Downed concept for example was looked to be compared to FPS which are popular gaming genre for non MMO games.
guess so than…………………..
I didnt follow patches. But they seem extra long between spawns now.
is this the case? if so, why was this done? that takes another fun element of gameplay out the game. Especially since the Meta Events are already limited by level ranges.
What are your feelings of having a dedicated healing role in GW2, once again like GW1 and other trinity games have it?
Whats your opinion on Healing role?
Explain why you hate the healing role?
===============
From what I read so far against Healing role, usually the argument is that people dont like waiting for healers for group play.
well thats not really fault of the Role itself, but the community in the game. So I never really saw that as a reason to hate the role and eliminate it, when it was never bad. just the community was.
Also since Dungeons and Events in GW2 can be done without it, I dont see the harm of having a dedicated healing role. Also would be great for WvW to counter zerg’s anti-melee design.
Why don’t you rebind the keys to something else?
Or am i missing something?
Some people arent good with keybrinding. which in what you suggest likely would be a Keybind combo of keys. Most players dont do that. Thats why clickers are the vast majority.
Apologies to Knighthonor, I hope you’ve seen the first post and the GW2 Wiki links before the thread gets removed.
Yes. Thanks all. But the first link seem kind of subjective when it comes to explaining what it is. say something about bringing the world to life. And leaves it vague there. No idea what they could mean by that.
Really what is this " living story" thing all about?
I never really tried it since it was just a pop up in the corner where event info was. Seem more like a traditional quest with more larger objective.
But what is it really?
Is it instanced like Personal Stories are in some ways?
Whats its purpose?
My question is: When, if ever, will Guild Halls be implemented in the game? I remember them being a very useful and fun part of the original game.
If you aren’t familiar with the first game, a Guild Hall is an instanced zone that can be purchased by your guild. It’s essentially a Guild HQ. You can buy things, repair, trade, meet up, etc.
Here’s a video showing off some Guild Halls (they each have their own theme) and how they are used:
That video makes the concept of guild halls seem pretty dull honestly.
I like Guild Zones that allow guild members to build the buildings themselves, like in Rift.
It had no purpose. what was it originally meant to do?
man I want more spells to use!!
Anet said something about a big free patch that adds new spells to class’ existing spell list.
What is the progression on this development, and whats the ETA for this big addition?
it didnt live up to the hype. many lies.
lol but you all were against having Raids Dungeons, as if this was a better idea…
So you want to be able to play the game, but do no questing, PvP, crafting, JPs, leveling or work toward better gear.
If you don’t mind my asking, why the heck did you purchase an MMO?
Well when the game was in hype phase, it was promised that the game wouldnt have Quest. Which as of now, I no longer enjoy quest in MMOs. They Promised a fully dynamic world, which is why I was interested. something most MMOs dont do.
SPvP in this game is by far the worst kind of instanced PvP I have experienced in a MMO. Its nothing but Arena. Has no meaning to my character. its fully Esport. has no story, and no meaning. I not against instanced PvP, but only like PvP in general when it has meaning to fight other players.
JP were a neat idea at first, until I realized how body size, and speed boost effects them. Giving advantages to one class I may be playing, over another class I could be playing. Its no longer a cool idea. Nothing really special about it after doing so many already.
Levels are just a artificial content lock/ pacer, used primarily in themepark MMOs to keep players on a guided path designed by developers so they dont skip stuff. Thats not a good design for a game that hyped itself on being Dynamic, and having the freedom to explore and do whatever you like. Level restrictions and Dynamic game dont mix. Levels also restrict your play style, since Traits are completely level locked. Meaning unless I level up, I wont be able to play my class a certain way that it was fully designed to. example. Warrior cant instant heal allies until they are level 60 and can unlock the trait that turn shouts into heals. Thats 60 levels of grinding to play a certain way that should have been there from the start if a player chooses. Levels also restrict me from playing certain events and going to certain areas. Why have that in a game that is all about dynamic gameplay and exploration. I dont need levels to lock me from playing events and going places.
Also Gear is the same way. its cool to look unique and dress up your avatar. But when does Grinding vs Discovery lines get blurred? Its cool playing and discovering these great looking items. But when you are grinding for the sole reason to get a certain cool looking item, then the game becomes nothing but just a grind. Wasnt that what Anet was hyping GW2 to be against?! Yes because I remember them hyping GW2 to be the anti Grind.
I am trying to figure out something to do in the game for fun, to get the most out of my money I spent on this game so far.
I come here seeking assistance in finding just that.
Here are the things, I dont like certain game play elements and would like something to do that doesnt consist of those things, like the following:
*Max Level Item Legendary/Ex grinding.
*SPvP.
*Heart Quest.
*Crafting.
*Jumping Puzzles.
I dont really like those things there. So any suggestions?
I only have 2 level 80s Guard/War. and a level 20 Ranger/Thief/Mesmer. Rest are 30.
Kind of getting bored of leveling after that last grind to get my Necro to 30.
Whats a good way to play support in WvW as a low level pre elite?
I know some of you have heard it by now. But Arena Net has plans for a major update that will add lots of new spells to the game.
whats some new spells you would like to see added to the game?
Also if you could get a pre existing weapon added to the Engineer class, what would it be and how would it work?
Since Anet is making a big update that will add new spells to the game
what are some ideas for guardian spells you would like to see added to the game?
Do you want new spell “Types” or would you rather have new spells of the old types?
Also what new main hand and off hand weapons would you like to see the guardian get and how would you like them to work?
with the big update coming that will add new spells to the game .what are some you would like to see for Warriors?
if you could pick 1 new 2hander weapon added to the warrior’s weapon list from the existing weapons, and 2 new existing 1 hander weapons to add, what would they be?
What are some new spells you would like to see added to the Necromancer class in the big update heading our way that plans to add new skills into the game?
this kind of brings out the crazy in people
If you’re using that infographic they released the other day as your source on Engineers composing 10% of player population, that number is based off characters created. There’s just no way that Guardians are equal to Necromancers in player population at level 80, or that Rangers are the second-most played profession.
Level 80 has extremely little meaning in GW2, though.
First, there’s sPvP/tPVP. Second. I know plenty players who only level incidentally, since GW2 largely removes the need to level unless you’re heavily into Fractals or WvW. You join guild mates doing stuff, and you gain levels in the process. That’s how most play. They level as they go along, but they never try to “reach 80”, because that’s one thing GW2 did well, erase most of the enforced get-to-max-level-asap.
thats not true. Many people strive for level 80 because higher levels have the most traits. Some Traits are even locked away by level restrictions (aka the tiers).
if you like a certain role, you wont be very effective in that role unless you ave access to the last tier or even your elite skills which require level 30 in the first place. so Levels do matter. I like WvW and play there with my engi. its fun sometimes but usually when we have a group going.
Were there any plans to improve the Water gameplay in GW2?
Because I remember we couldnt even fight on the surface of the water, and the underwater combat would limit our utility skills as well as weapon choices. skills in general.
Also there wasnt many interesting PvE content in the water. Especially no meta event bosses, like a Sea Dragon or something.
There are no sea vehicles to pilot and travel the sea with.
Not much interesting Sea combat in PvP as well.
I keep telling people.
Banners would be great, if they all had unique skills and effects when picked up.
Currently they all have the same skills, even the elite banner has the same skills. only difference is the 2nd key.
Also when picked up, giving Banners their own unique Burst skills for Warriors would have been a sweet deal for using them.
they were poorly designed. Banners passive effects should be stronger. Not just some random boon or something. but actually some meaningful effect on allies. making them a threat to enemy.
want sword off-hand
I would like Focus main hand
and Scepter off hand.
Oh and Spear on land… yeah totally cool there.
on mmorpg.com thread.
I been away for a while, but with talk about a new Class revamp/ new skills, I have to wonder if there already been talk regarding what changes will be made to the Necro perhaps?
With talk about classes getting revamped and new skills. I havnt been following the game much. can somebody fill me in on the details of these plans for the Guardian class?
I remember hearing about Anet revamping lots of classes. Whats the new planned changes for the Warrior class?
so what were those new Anet plans for Engineers?
I heard they were getting revamped big time.
so what were the plans? what changed?
