What about GPU? Also is this idle or while running the game for a bit? Where you experiencing a dip during the reading?

Odd that your graphics card wasn’t detected, is that why you couldn’t get the reading?

I use these steps to test my lag and input lag. They’ve helped me a bit, but I’ve also read that others are having similar issues on the pc side. (lately, I’ve also experienced a combination of server-side issues plus some ISP lags, causing large input lag recently)

These steps only work on home setups, not university or public connections due to lack of control over the latter.

Make sure you try playing with any firewalls (including router/modem ones) or anti-virus software disabled and if the issue still occurs, re-enable (if not, gw2 needs to have exceptions made and ports authorised, as listed below in the first link)

Try the things under code 7:

https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8994/~error-codes

I personally use QoS with high priority, but each setup is different.
If the d/c still occurs, you should check your connection to the server and the routing:

https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9245

There are examples listed so you can see if it’s your issue, your isp’s or possibly server side. (this works well if you can test it prior to a disconnect lol or during times of lag, but it is very valuable to know what optimal speeds look like by checking during off-peak times like early in the morn or after midnight)

If this doesn’t turn anything up for you or you don’t see any improvements, check the sticky on submitting a ticket and then do so. Then please post back here with what solution worked for you.

Thanks for the update!!!

Glad some of that helped the d/c issue, sort of. I can confirm that others has been reporting frequent disconnects since the 3/26 patch that hasn’t been completely resolved yet. Even I had my first disconnect the other day oddly enough. And I’m still getting random input lag and baddie rubber banding, but I still believe some of that is server side.

I can list one more set of instructions to possibly help with the tp. It helps many issues associated with the tp and some other things too. (this helped me to purchase gems again on my system since it broke just after launch) On occasion, the tp still plays up and doesn’t load, but a client restart and/or waiting some time tends to allow it to load again. Try step 3 first. (it’s the long one)

Here are the steps to try (length warning):

1.) run software update to ensure all drivers and os are up to date.

2.) try repairing disk permissions via Disk Utility first. Then…

3.) repair the client install

Open Terminal
Type the following:

/applications/guild\ wars\ 2.app/contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:Gw2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -repair

You can copy and paste that in too. (check the dash just before the word USE) they are 2 dashes (-) side by side… I’m noticing one sometimes looks like an em (—), but it is actually 2 en dashes (-) side-by-side. Run it and let it go until finished. FYI if you type the command yourself or paste it, (the dash before USE is 2 regular dashes). I reiterate because the forum changes it every time and has caused many an issue for peeps.

3.)Perhaps after doing that, if it doesn’t work, you can try to delete the contents of the hidden gw2 data folder, it’s a pain to get to the right one: please navigate to it using finder and do not search for it using spotlight

Mine is located under the hidden Library folder

/[yourharddrivename]/users/[yourusername]/library/application support/guild wars 2

Delete the contents of that specific folder (you should see files like this contained within “config, dyndata.dat, user.reg, userdef.reg, and folders p_drive and wineserver…namestuff…loca..[long name]” just to list a few), then re-run the client.

~~Your folder is probably hidden (as is the default). I found this after googling:

http://m.wikihow.com/See-Hidden-Folders-on-Mac-OS-X-and-Other-Recent-Models

Others claim alt+clicking a file/folder unhides the contents, but that was never successful for me. At least the link has visuals for you. Hope it helps.

4.) If none of this works, check the sticky and submit a ticket.

If she’s still getting the d/c upon changing maps after all this, do fill out a ticket and continue to update us as to what actually worked for you. Good luck again and that’s for checking back

You actually get that kind of fps? Wow, that’s awesome! What settings do you play on?

As for the dips, have you been monitoring your temps? CPU in particular, but GPU as well.

You should test these while the system has been sitting idle for about 10 mins, then load gw2 and test it after running for 10 min (or while experiencing these fps spikes if they are accurately reproducible).

You may also want to verify that your drivers are up to date as well.

Also, at one point you mentioned a crash then shut down. When you say a crash, are you getting an error code at all? Is it closing the game, then the system shuts down? Or is it laggy, then while paying, poof, it shuts down?

2nd, gw2 only launched with 1 disk, however, you don’t need this disk to install, you can download the client from account.guildwars2.com (just in case you ever need it).

As ilithis said, it could possibly be an overheating issues, but it could also be possible that your system doesn’t have enough power from the power supply, or could be a faulty piece of hardware.

Gw2 is a system hog, it uses everything it can, so if there is any issue at all, gw2 will point it out lol.

Start with the steps ilithis described since that is the easiest thing to fix though.

Link, for this kind of issue, you should always post system specs if you want help, and include your vid card.

On the pr forums, this issue is many times caused bu drivers issues, but as maccies, as long is software update is up-to-date, we don’t ave that issue.

You could again, try any of the usual Mac fixes, but I still think, since you’re receiving this issue plus the code C0000005, you may want to try your luck with a ticket.

Then I ask again that you come back to this forums that you posted on and share the fox that worked for you.

Linklol, they still haven’t given us a reason for code C0000005. I was getting that code in WvW but I haven’t received it since about a week after the culling update (so roughly first week of April). But I’ve also not had as much time to play WvW lately so it could be coincidence.

You could try the basics: repair permissions, repair client, delete the contents of the hidden gw2 folder. But these may or may not work for you. If you’d like me to post fresh instructions for these things (with clarified instructions), I will.

Otherwise, please look at the sticky for submitting a ticket and please do so.

Yes, I can confirm all of these as well (cuts off after so any entries, incomplete entries, etc). I noticed, if you leave the list at the very last part where you can still see the personal story entries, you can scroll and see about 3 more (but you cannot select them because they don’t last on the screen long enough), then POOF, it’s all gone. The last 3 you can even view aren’t all of them either, there are still more entries that should be present, but just aren’t.

This has been around since near launch at least, I filed an in-game bug report in november after finishing my personal story and it’s still here. Just submitted another one on a second character about 3 weeks ago.

How is this not running well?

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Kyllaa.1385

Kyllaa.1385

It’s possibly an overheating issue or possibly a drivers issue. Check to make sure you have all OS updates, reinstall the updated drivers, if windows, check that direct x is up to date. Also, monitor your system temp, particularly your CPU and GPU, they are major culprits of lag. Check them while your system is running idle for several minutes and check it after running the game for about 10 minutes.

You may need to open it up and clean dust bunnies out of the inside particularly around the fans, vents, and ports. A cooling pad with fans helps sometimes.

If your drivers and temps are fine and you can’t solve the issues from other suggestions here, view the sticky for submitting a ticket then have at it.

Once you find your issue and fix it, please come back here to post your fix that worked for others like you who may have this issue in the future.

Btw, have you tried the usual mac fixes of repairing permissions and client, deleting the gw2 folder contents (hidden folder, you can’t just search for it), and making sure you’re on an admin account login? If not, try a few of those first or just hit a ticket.

If you get a fix, please come back here and post what it was to help others like you in the future.

Lol for idle I meant without running any major programs, not idle in game, but it’s okay.

That 96 degrees is a little warm. (guessing C). You may want to use istat to check what speed your fans are running as well, especially once it gets above 90 (mine rarely gets above 90 and usually hovers around 92 for a min or 2 then fall below 90 again, MBP late 2011).

You might also want to get a cooling pad with fans to help circulate the heat underneath the system that could build up and cause spikes. (try this last as you have to spend money for something that may not be the issue)

Have you considered opening up your system and cleaning the fans? And especially trying to evacuate any dust or fluff buildup near the vents, fans, and anywhere else you see it. Mine is under 2 years old and I don’t smoke or didn’t have any pets when I cleaned mine in November and it had stuff stuck around the fan vents and other misc places. Be very careful though and maybe check a video online for others who’ve opened up your system. (lol I almost cracked an area near my fan trying to get a wedged dust bunny out)

If these things don’t fix your issue or give any improvements, I highly recommend checking the submit a ticket sticky hand have a got at that.

Then come back here and post your results and what worked for you to resolve your issue.

Serious fall damage bug

I just had this happen to me last night off the cliff from Cloven Hoof Pass towards Stoneman’s Notch in Harathi Hinterlands, it was right on the cliff leading toward the vista from Cloven Hoof on the right. (east of Trebusha’s waypoint).

I slipped off the top of the cliff and took a bunch of falling damage about 45% off my health, I just let my char fall and went with it, then I took a step to continue on and suddenly I was back on top of the cliff falling again, this time I took less damage and slid right into the water, before I could even move or recover from that I was instantly back on top of the cliff falling again for even more damage. Luckily I survived all of this, but I still had only a sliver of health left.

I’ve never had this happen to me before and I’ve never seen or heard of it from anyone I know.

This occurred on the Mac client for me, have not confirmed pc yet, but I imagine all these peeps are pc peeps.

What graphics setting did you use in windows and what are you currently using in Mac?

Also, you may want to run software update and make sure you have the latest in updates and monitor you system temps while idle for about 10 mins and while playing the game for 10 mins (note CPU and GPU).

Nope, no way to make it quieter because those fans are trying to keep your system cool. Before you just accept that though, verify what your CPU and gpu temps are running at while playing. Then also verify them as idle.

Gw2 is a resource hog and causes systems to generate a lot of heat.

Odd, I’ve always been able to swap a smaller bag to a larger one, even with contents in it.

Definitely try to empty one of the “old bags” and unequip it so you have an empty bag slot and try to drag and drop the “new” bag there. Also test if you can swap 2 bags and slots by dragging 1 equipped bag into the slot of a second equipped bag. They should swap slots.

But if you’re having issues, and following the instructions above doesn’t work, you may need to submit a ticket. Especially since you’re saying it’s only on 2 characters.

Kyllaa.1385

Your temps for the CPU sound about normal for a MBP. Also check the gpu temps though. Make sure vertical sync is disabled for more fps (but possible screen tearing).

If that seems well (gpu lower than cpu temps is normal for gw2), you may want to try the “delete your gw2 folder contents” option, but it may or may not work. I personally haven’t had this issue, but it’s possible. As long as your system is up to date, that’s about all we can try on our end without having support from the Anet staff. I’ll post the instructions for you to try, but if it’s just not happening, check the submit a ticket sticky and have a go at that. But please, let me know if you tried the folder option and if it helped or not. Then please follow up after the ticket with any solutions they may have to help others who may experience this. It’s possible some changes were made to the client optimisation that is causing some clients to bug out like this and reporting is the only way to find a solid fix.

1. Find the folder (navigate to it, don’t search)

Mine is located under the HIDDEN Library folder (a hidden folder shows in grey text when it is visible in finder)

/[yourharddrivename]/users/[yourusername]/library/application support/guild wars 2

2. Make a backup of said folder by copying and pasting it somewhere (desktop)

3. Delete the contents of that specific folder (you should see files like this contained within “config, dyndata.dat, user.reg, userdef.reg, and folders p_drive and wineserver…namestuff…loca..[long name]” just to list a few)

4. then re-run the client.

If you can’t see/find this folder, follow these instructions:

http://m.wikihow.com/See-Hidden-Folders-on-Mac-OS-X-and-Other-Recent-Models

Then proceed with the instructions above. Test game again.

Please do let me know how you made out, if you needed a ticket still, and the outcome of that. Good luck and sorry I can’t be of more assistance.

[ADDED] I find a cooling pad with fans helps keep my temps from going above 90 (definitely keeps them from staying there).

Kyllaa.1385

Hi. I’m not sure if we’ll be able to help you here as you are the first Mac user to report low fps after the patch (it has been happening more on the of side of the forums), but we can try. If we can’t solve your problem here, I highly recommend you check the submit a ticket sticky and then do so. Then come back here and report your fix so that it may help others in the future.

On the pc, they keep recommending “update the drivers,” but us maccies already have those if we keep up with out system updates. So, double check that first.

Question: have you been monitoring your system temps? Can you tell me what they are running at while playing gw2 and when idle, also try running another game or something less taxing on a system and what are the temps then? Give a couple mins to get to a standing temp before noting it.

Question 2: what graphics settings are you running gw2 at? (low across the board, medium, some high, all high) Do you have best texture filtering enabled or vertical sync? Both can cause lower fps. I imagine on your system, you can’t run very high graphics settings due to gpu limitations and being on the lower end of supported systems, but I want to ask and be sure.

Check those 2 things and let me know, I’ll be hanging around for a bit and will check back for you.
