Thanks, forgot to list the chantry bug.
I found this post in the tech support forum from one of the tech support devs, it might help you. (we do something similar on macs and it works wonders for most):
“At this time I would like you to delete the Temporary Cache for Guild Wars 2. Generally this is done to troubleshoot issues with the Black Lion Trading Post but I’ve seen this actually resolve black screen issues as well. To do this:
1. In Windows, press the “Start” button and locate the “Search programs and files” bar at the bottom of the start menu.
2. Type in the word “temp” with a percent sign in the beginning and the end of the word without any spaces.
3. Press “Enter” and a new window should appear with the location of “C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp”
4. Locate the folder labeled “gw2cache-{RANDOM NUMBERS} and delete it.
After doing this, please try running Guild Wars 2 again.
Hope this helps!”
I deleted the extraneous text, but the instructions are here let us know how it works out and if not, maybe submit a ticket.
I also experience this at times. It tends to happen if I can’t kill a baddie fast enough on a ranged character. But mostly, I’ve noticed it on my engineer in particular. She’s only lvl 26, so I can’t attest to Orr, but I can say it happens a lot to be annoying and get me killed a ton.
At 25% or less health, it runs away (I’m at about 50%), I get it down again just to have a respawn on me. I go down, target changes to the one with higher health. I switch back to the lower one (about 10% health). I whittle it down a bit, but not enough before I die while it has 1% or even no noticeable red health (probably about 10 hit points or so). I just can’t kill them if I get caught off guard with the reset/re-engage while the big hitters are on cd and player health didn’t recover. I’ve also had issues rallying when one in a group does go down on occasion. But usually, they’re still standing with some invisible sliver of health while I’m charr meat.
I’m currently getting this issue (mostly) in the Plains of Ashford and Diessa Plateau on my engineer, but I have seen it on other characters while using ranged skills (Mesmer in Queensdale/kessex hills, ranger once or twice. Never on my Nero, but I think I kill them too fast on her).

What error?
Also, if it’s still installing, you may want to wait it out. Luckily, you seemed to be able to log in here, that’s always a good sign.
How long ago did your error code 7 start? Are you getting it while playing also? Can you play at all? It seems there are many people experiencing code 7. Have a gander at some of the recent threads titled with that code.
Wow! That is really strange! It might have something to do with your drivers. I’ve seen other threads describing different issues, but they are told to reinstall drivers and some people have to rollback to a previous version. There might even be a possibility of some game file issue. When the Mac version has odd graphical errors, we have to delete our support files and let the client redownload. I saw a similar pc fix, but you’d have to look into it here. My windows install has no problems, so I can’t confirm. Or maybe running the gw2 repair could help.
Hopefully, a dev will see this and offer some advice. I haven’t seen or heard of this before. Sorry I can’t be useful. Maybe fill out a ticket and attach that video as well. This seems like it needs very specific help.
Also, this seems to be a laptop and you didn’t list your ram. What error code or message are you getting too? (sometimes before you get to the “send report to Anet” box, you a get a flash of an error dialogue box)
Meh. Wasn’t going to respond to more sarcasm, but sure, why not. I don’t typically rant about that stuff. Most of my posts may be long, but typically, they are due to details and explanations to help others (note where I say I have the same problem, short and sweet ). I just don’t see the point of saying “this bug is okay, we have x item” it’s just superfluous and unnecessary. Besides, if I was a dev, I might just glaze over this post due to ungrateful sarcasm and help someone who seems truly desperate. But that’s just me. My example was just that… A ranty example. Oh and the quote listed by Vick was actually from a short post.
Bummer! I’m sorry. Have you tried doing the EB jp? Or the other borderlands jps? Maybe change them up or cycle which one you do which day? Just a thought.
Have you tried mousing over the names of each of the maps to pull up the popup for that maps completion? That way you don’t have to waypoint around and try to visually find it. Once you isolate the map, then you can use the wiki and go down the list to see which you are missing and where it is. Just a suggestion.
One minor test (which I used to determine some major server lag) was to use the lag/latency steps listed at this link:
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9245/kw/Lag
I’m on a Mac and thought it was my problem, but this showed me it was in fact both due to prime time Internet usage across the US (had 200-300 ms in chicago) and gw2 servers (had 600+ ms once it got to the gw2 server ips). It seemed to resolve itself around 9pm server time 2 nights ago or so. It started after the update and ended around Wednesday for me. I’ve had intermittent issues since, but much less severe.
But to rule out the CPU issue, definitely list the answers to the questions above.
I was able to get mine a little more stable by using this:
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8994/~error-codes
I use QoS due to 3 comps running gw2 and it seems to have helped immensely (since the new update). Port forwarding requires static ip address distribution as well.
I run the Mac client and tend to have worse lag and graphical issues than the pc, but at least now I can participate in HUGE Zerg on Zerg clashes and still be able to dodge red circles I can actually see, drop some attacks and even a heal. I haven’t had any major disconnects during either, with the few exceptions of a couple weird error codes listing model references, arena=default, cat=gr, and (activeBlock→size & 0xf). Those I believe are part of the anti-culling update and saw a fix posted about one.
I have 2 depending on the severity of our issue.
For constant disconnects with code 7:
My router is dualband 5ghz/2.4ghz and my MBP wireless card was dropping the 5ghz for the 2.4 ghz when the signal would degrade for “best performance.” (then back to 5 when it resolved) My fix was to login to it and give each band a unique SSID and make sure my computer only had the password to the one that gave me desired results. (remember, 2.4 ghz has staying power for larger homes or places where there are walls or obstacles between the comp and router, 5ghz degrades the signal easier but is likely to have less cross-interference)
For lagginess and stuttering:
My 2nd fix to ensure better quality of connection and speed (because my router always seemed to take bandwidth from my comp if any other comp on my network was drawing bandwidth) was to enable QoS on the router and give higher priority to the ports listed in this link:
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8994/~error-codes
Follow for code 7.×. It says use port forwarding, but I have 3 comps running gw2 on my network, so I chose QoS. Not all routers have QoS, so it’s your call. Port forwarding requires your router to use static ip addresses.
I hope this helps you, let me know!
Someone told me the siege in the main keeps doesn’t despawn… Otherwise, how would bots place so many siege weapons on top of npcs to drain your supply and they could last several days at least (not every npc gets talked to regularly so every piece can’t be ticked every 30 mins).
I’ll write the complete location from mine, just to make sure you’ve got the right one:
/“your hard drive name”/Users/“your user name”/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2
I think there are 2 different application support folders and one is hidden under a hidden library folder. Is this the same one you’re in?
I had issues with the chest in EB already being open, even after 24 hours. haven’t experienced that in any of the borderlands before, but in truth, I haven’t done them recently. Sometimes, I would have to wait over an hour for them to reset and sometimes I’d wait 3 hours for nothing, still open. I actually stopped doing them for several weeks now because I got tired of the inconsistency. Never had it on an alt though. Hope you get a response or file a ticket.
(same server as you)
I’ve encountered this, but I actually thought it was a Mac exclusive issue. I just filled an in-game bug report for this today. It’s happened to me in WvW and pve (I rarely pvp so can’t confirm it there, but I don’t doubt it exists there either). Seems like when you hit too many keys, it just fumbles.
FIX: actually link a skill into the window using ctrl + left-click skill, then it should return to normal. Let me know if this works for you too.
It’s kind of like the key stuck issue (I.e. moving without pressing a button), just hit the button that seems stuck and it becomes unstuck.
A lot of people seem to be having this problem. There are several threads about it. Mine was stuck at 79/83 when I had only 3 left, once I got the 1st of 3, it jumped to 81/83, then it stuck there until I got the very last and it completed 83/83. Odd numbers only lol. It’s helped some to try a new char and redo a few (mailbox, pvp treb, WvW, etc), most it hasn’t helped so much so much.
Hopefully a dev can get it on this for you guys.
You always have to confirm a logout. You should only have to confirm a salvage if the item is masterwork and above (green, yellow, gold, purple). And I think you have to confirm to salvage your starter items as well.
As for the strange graphics, I’m at a loss. Seems like an odd video card issue. How long have you had this graphical issue? You may also want to post your system specs for the Anet staff or other players to review to be able to help you better.
Did you try this? It was posted a few up from the bottom of the last page.
Your folder is probably hidden (as is the default). I found this after googling:
http://m.wikihow.com/See-Hidden-Folders-on-Mac-OS-X-and-Other-Recent-Models
Others claim alt+clicking a file/folder unhides the contents, but that was never successful for me. At least the link has visuals for you. Hope it helps.
Hi and welcome!
We are currently waiting to see if anyone will be monitoring these forums for support. You may still come here at the moment for support from other players if they’re available, but we haven’t had an arena net post in months. You can ALWAYS submit a ticket for any issues that you can’t find a timely resolution to, do check out the sticky for that.
As for your game, you may or may not have issues, but I’ve posted some of the basic troubleshooting steps on several recent threads. Between the 3 I post, most issues are resolved with one fairly simple fix (deleting the contents of the gw2folder under application support, several mb of data). Please check a few of the most recent posts for a heads up on it before issues arise, so you know what to do if they ever do. However, you may have no problems at all!
Regarding beta version, we haven’t heard anything yet. But I can assure you of my 5 friends who play on Mac, I am the only one who has experienced long standing issues… And most of those were actually caused by my own router. One friend had a sound issue (weird oscillating ring/beep/whuur sound), but that was fixed with the above suggestion. So, issues aren’t so big, but remember, most peeps come to a forum only when they have a problem, so it seems like more than it is… I just stayed to help others and keep updated.
Hope you enjoy the game and if you do have any questions, pop back.
I had this happen for a spell the other day, but it resolved itself after a client restart. (Mac client) I was previewing weapons and armor both from a karma vendor, the weapon showed up if weapon only was ticked, but otherwise, the preview window was blank.
Are you referring to the vanity items from the gem shop? I was getting huge amounts of loading lag there the same day and couldn’t see anything there either. Seems to be working okay today.
They haven’t been responding on there. No support in over 4 months as stated by a customer support message months ago. So here we are trying to get help from a place where people are helping. Thank you.
That was what my post was about, check the link I posted above. Support for the Mac forums ended about 4 months ago.
I think this is a bug common to all players on the Mac client (it is not happening on pc). It has been reported on the game bugs forum also. We are currently awaiting word from Anet if the Mac beta client forums are still being monitored, but thus far, it does not seem so. If you do experience any other issues, it seems a good bet is to submit a ticket. Watch the following post for an update from Anet regarding the Mac forum:
Thank you kindly!
It seems to mostly affect hawks, but whenever you see a bird flying, you get up to 3 white beams coming from the birds chest. Since the march 26th update.
May want to make sure you don’t ave any antivirus software, firewalls, or any programs that block ports running as well. Disable them all and try again. Hope this helps.
To the mods, I didn’t know reporting a message wouldn’t get me in trouble as I thought flagging and reporting were used for negative behaviours. I feel very disheartened today, but I’ll try your suggestion, hopefully, I won’t get my account locked or something. I’m just trying to help the poor Mac people who come here seeking assistance only to find none. A sticky months ago would’ve helped ease this. Thanks for your response on the other forum page.
I’m trying to get a moderator on here to at least confirm this again. Some months back, an admin posted in a thread that they’ve gotten all the feedback they need about the Mac version and will no longer be responding here. This is confirmed by a search of the Mac forums for any Anet posts, the last one I found was 4 months ago, and the last red post at all was 2 months ago from a community coordinator closing a thread. No threads have been closed since.
This area of the forum now seems to be more self-help oriented and with any luck, other players who are still around help.
FINAL THOUGHTS: if you have an issue, read the submit a ticket sticky and do that. If you don’t want to, look into the other areas of the forum for your specific problem. If opening a new thread, be certain to list that you are on the Mac client as most issues are resolved bt giving pc advice.
The pvp/WvW threads are heavily monitored, the tech support threads seem more monitored than game bugs, but you can still go a long time without dev response due to all the fodder and sarcasm there.
[added update] I went to the forum and website issues forum and made a thread about it and they closed it guess I’ll try their suggestion. I feel very sad now.
[final update] a moderator viewed my post, replied, and hopefully, we’ll get an official answer. thanks to our friendly, unnamed mod!
(edited by Kyllaa.1385)
Could a moderator please read this and do something about the Mac beta client sub forum?!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Suggestion-sticky-for-Mac-beta-client-forum
Hoping someone actually sees this. Thanks for taking the time to review this post in its entirety.
If only someone would take a glance at all of the WvW reports on the Mac client forum.
Or at least make a sticky informing players who go there that the Mac forums have been abandoned by Anet and to place your concern either in a ticket or on the forum where it is most likely classified (WvW, pvp, tech support, bugs). Sadly, those who need help go weeks or months without any answer at all because the post that states that Anet got what they needed from those forums and are no longer moderating them got buried months ago.
Thanks Kard for bringing to light the issue with our squishy, half-dead necros.
Many are having this issue currently it seems.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Severe-lag-since-servers-came-back-up/first
I am hoping a moderator sees this and would consider making a big, bright sticky saying that the Mac beta client support forums are no longer being reviewed by devs.
I can’t find the specific post that this was mentioned in, but I recall others suggesting that that thread be stickied so everyone could see it.
I find it very unfortunate that so many people who use the Mac client come here seeking help and go weeks and months without even a response from other players to their problem. I’m hoping they gave up waiting and just submitted a ticket, but who knows.
There hasn’t been a dev post that I have found in over 4 months and the latest post was by a coordinator closing a thread about 2 months ago.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make a sticky telling Mac beta client users seeking help to “read said sticky before you post anything” and inform them that this part of the forum is no longer Anet monitored/answered (abandoned even?) and where they can best seek help… Whether it be just to submit a ticket (include a link to the ticket sticky), visit the WvW/pvp forums, or tech support forums… But please, have the consideration to let them know that their post will go unanswered by a dev who can help them.
Thanks for your time!
Sorry that didn’t work for you. I recommend submitting a ticket. At least that way, you can get help from an Anet staff member (since they don’t seem to be reading the Mac forums any longer). Good luck and hope you can get your problem resolved soon.
Btw, do you have any firewalls on or any programs that can block ports or applications? Just a random thought.
Not to mention, they have to test these “bugs” and be able to duplicate them before they can even begin to fix them.
Hardly a fanboy since I’m a girl and I have my fair share of problems considering I play on the Mac client, but sarcasm isn’t helping find the problem.
In my example, you can see how many things they are working on simultaneously, and if you read the sticky about bug fixes, you can see exactly what I am referring to as far as time. Most peeps barely take the time to read, and even less take the time to write in clear, concise text so that the techies can accurately figure out what most are getting at… And having to sift through sarcasm on top of that just means more time sifting through bs and less time getting the data that’s needed to the people who can fix it.
Not a fan girl, practical!
Try using command + tab, then you can just switch through all of your apps or desktop. That’s what I use and most peeps I know who play on Mac.
The servers seem to have been pretty stressed these last few days, I have been experiencing huge lag spikes and up to 2-3 seconds of input lag as well.. I ran a traceroute to my server ip (as directed to on the support page) and the gw2 servers all had over 600ms of latency… Ping was also really high. At midnight (east coast, US) last night I noticed the input lag and baddie jumps (you know, when they run at you, stop, then they’re on top of you and have taken off 25% of your health before you even hit them once) just stopped. I ran a traceroute and it was down to around 50ms across the board, and ping was way down also.
Not sure what has been happening, unless it as something to do with a surge in populations since the free trial weekend. If it continues, perhaps you should submit a ticket with that log.
What exactly is it? Explain how you got there, etc. Where are you?
This has been happening. We have a thief contesting our keep for hours on end (for the last several months), I managed to contact them and ask how they do it… Wanted to test if it was a bot, they linked all their gear to me and then said that everyone read the “bug fix” wrong and it’s not an exploit, but wouldn’t mention anything about the coming out of stealth debuff. I did find that they use negative condition duration runes (superior rune of melandru) to lower all conditions on them plus food buff that stacks vitality and possibly negative cond dur. They are practically unstoppable even with 15 people attacking them because they can disappear so quickly.
So, not sure if this is as intended, but yeah, it happens.
Sometimes this happens, I constantly end up with a friendly selected too, it’s random. And yes, when downed, my target will switch to a baddie with higher health, it sucks and you die sometimes, but there is no reason to be so snippy about it.
Jaded gamers must remember that there are jaded gamers out there, the people who played non-stop from launch have cleared the content many times over and started complaining that there wasn’t enough content, so they pushed new content. The game was bigger than they expected and has a higher population than originally anticipated… That allows them to find the bugs and limitations… But the jaded gamers keep complaining. Then they complain there aren’t enough vanity items, so they make more… The jaded gamers find something else to complain about “you know, I hate when I’m in the middle of south sun cove and I’m mining that rich ori node (I know, it’s gone now), and I run out of mining picks… Now I have to leave and come back and hope it still has all of its charges left” so what do they do, give you an endless mining pick. But now jaded gamers are unhappy because they made that and didn’t fix every other bug yet. You guys do realize the number of players playing and the number of bugs they could possibly find?! Plus when an exploit pops up, that takes priority! These things don’t just solve themselves, it takes time, energy, and resources, plus testing to be certain it’s fixed. We could’ve been waiting for this awesome game for another year while they tested with millions of players, but even then, would jaded gamers be happy?! Nope! Give them a chance, they’re trying to bring new content for everyone from pve, to pvp, and WvW to keep as many happy as possible. It takes time!
Long story short, it’s a bug, it sucks, quit your sarcasm and stick to the facts. It will be fixed in time.
(edited by Kyllaa.1385)
I think he may be referring to when multiple people possibly enter a dungeon at the same time, it’s possible to have your party split among multiple instances. (only heard about it once) I can’t comment on how or why this happens specifically, but it happened to me once when 2 people were already in an instance before I was in the group and when I tried to enter, I was in my own instance with the other 2 who weren’t in yet and entered after I did. I never got the box asking me to join when I arrived in the zone. (group found on gw2lfg)
Easy solution… Have the lesser number leave their instance and re-enter. Takes 1 min max.
As for disconnects, I was having a lot of those, but not just in dungeons… Constantly! Turns out, it was a dual band router issue and signal receiving by my wireless network card switching bands for “best performance.” nothing was affected but gw2, everything else worked perfectly, and yet gw2 would d/c. My problem, not the game or ArenaNet bugs. Many others are still receiving code 7.x errors and many on the Mac client are getting disconnected and have multiple crashes in WvW, but I’m still not sure what’s causing that… It’s all over the Mac beta client forums, including myself from time to time.
So, I don’t really see much else he’s on about. There are bugs and many have them have already been mentioned around the forums [examples]: Mac beta client hawks have crazy graphical glitches when flying, some people can’t dye certain armor pieces once transmuted, the mouse glitch that prevents any targeting or mouse interaction with the world (ui is unaffected, pc and Mac both), guild login influence not accumulating properly, WvW crashing bugs since culling update (only observed on Mac client personally, eg active block->size & 0xf, arena=default, cat=gr, model has unexpected compute reference count, etc), trading post randomly stops working and you either have to wait an obscenely long time to resolve itself or restart client to post/buy… Not gem store, that’s fine, necromancer downed health pool, theif exploits in WvW to keep a keep contested for hours on end by stealthing off of doors, siege, walls and npcs, botting occurring in WvW designed to drain supply by building a line of rams, catas, &ballistas on top of npc locations perfectly… If zero siege, they stand and repair a wall if damaged as supply becomes avail or build one siege item at a time if not under attack.
Well, as you can see, there is a list, but not this guys.
If you find a bug Robotukas, please think it through and tell the mods consisely and clearly with good details, it’s very difficult to know what you mean if you are worked up and just saying “it’s an mmo, fix it” no one knows what needs fixing.
[added] aero, I haven’t seen that one yet, I thought he meant different dungeon instances.
South western corner. It’s where they added the new guild puzzle. South of the Guardpoint Decimus waypoint.
Bugger! I suggest a ticket to make sure they fix this before the SAB goes away soon.
I don’t think they’re actually reading the Mac forums anymore (they got all they need from them). I did see this bug reported once under the game bugs section. Any further unresolved Mac issues need to have tickets submitted if you want responses. I think this area is just like a “self-help” section now lol.
Glad to help and also glad you have your ISP watching the issue with you now.
I just read a sticky in the tech support forum about error code 7 (connection issue code) and the dev said to submit a ticket with specific details. Maybe have a pop over there and see if anything matches your issues, this may not be a mac only specific issue. At the very least, give it time with your ISP and if they can’t resolve, have a go at a ticket and give as much detail as possible.
Good luck friend.
I had this happen ONCE on my hubs pc after filing a bug report. The game crashed and took me to a screen to tell arenanet what I was doing at the time of the crash. His game client/comp has never crashed before that on gw2.
This happened just the other day too.
