This wasn’t the original name of the thread. That was just changed in the last week. I changed it for those still coming here for help so they don’t expect too much… Unlike what the link posted above from the support page might suggest.
Well, it’s not like we get to know what optimisations they’re pushing… Maybe they’re testing different versions?! Who knows.
My hubs plays a Mesmer at his main and he said he never has any issues with this. However, I started paying one recently and I’ve noticed if I even so much as auto-attack after casting decoy the baddie just hunts me down. I believe any activity while “stealthed” from decoy automatically breaks the stealth. Also, I’ve initiated new combat casting mirror images and I’ve still pulled aggro first. I’ve also had my clones engage a baddie I didn’t have targeted (not pulled due to proximity, actually attacked).
So, it seems random and possibly not duplicatable by all.
Luckily, I’m good enough to survive… Most times… Lol ~laughable sarcasm~
Okay, how about Tuesday?
You should be able to switch languages once all the downloading completes. As for the disk, I’m not sure why it’s not working, but most of the data is out-of-date anyway.
I don’t think there is any difference between an original install of the game using disk vs download.
But if you still have concerns, I recommend submitting a ticket (there is a sticky for that on this forum).
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Game-Update-Notes-May-14-2013/first#post2048561
Scroll to the 2nd post on this thread
Aimster, do you ever get past that version of the screen? If not, you may need a ticket to get any further.
All of my tweets in the past have gone unanswered… Other than some smart bummed player who decided to chastise me for something or another.
I was considering making a fb and twitter post after the 1 month mark of this thread, but if any of you want to sooner, have a go at it
Lol squish, your words seem somehow relevant to this whole thread ;p
Also, very generous of you to share that.
10/10 only counts player emails, not in-game, heart completion, story related, or exploration emails. So, you could have… I don’t know, 20 emails on one character from in-game sources, but only 10 player emails across all characters until you will no longer see other player emails or gem store purchase emails… But those in-game related mails will still keep coming.
This is how the “mailbox is full” hint gets bugged. You have to delete all in-game mails, including those from gem purchases on one character and only have 10 or more player emails to activate it.
A person on the Mac forums said they had this issue and he said “changing the language in the top right corner caused the whole patch to re-download and complete” he did note that Spanish did not work, but French did. Try to let the file download completely before switching back to your default language. (the devs recommend waiting 10-20 minutes, but some peeps have reported it taking overnight plus several more hours)
This may or may not work for you guys, but maybe if a dev sees it, it could help then to troubleshoot this issue.
Please post back and let me know if this interesting suggestion works for any of you.
Lol odd place to put that, but nope, I have never seen that… Just random teleporting people. Next time try a screenie? Maybe it was a ranger with a hawk? ;p
This is a random bug, everyone will experience it at some point. You have to delete a local file on the computer and let the client re-download it. I can tell you how to fix it on Mac, but I think there is a local.dat file for pc… Look around the tech support forums for it, the devs have posted it many times.
Also, sometimes, also randomly, you can fix this bug by zoning in somewhere else, but more often a client restart is required. If that doesn’t help, the local file is typically needed. Repair doesn’t usually fix this issue.
If you just can’t figure it out, go to the tech support forums and view the submit a ticket sticky and then do so.
(my hubs just had this issue today on his Mac after receiving an error code 0:0:0:0:101 and the tp stopped working all together, even after several restarts… It was working 2 mins before the error occurred, we did the Mac equivalent of deleting the local files and voila, fixed!)
Good luck and let us know how it turned out and what fixed it.
Thanks David! I had one nice person re-orient my thinking a couple months back on here which actually helped me solve my disconnect problem, I was at my wits end with it. But I fixed it and was grateful for having a second mind on the issue. Since he helped me, I decided I should repay my gratitude by helping others. While I was having my issue I realised the sad state our forum was in and decided to do more to help. So… Here I am.
I am also grateful to Trog and his generous contributions of time here too.
I feel bad for everyone who purchased this game just for Mac only to feel abandoned in the end. (I know I’m starting to feel that way too at times)
I’m a pretty squeaky wheel lol, so if you see me stop posting for days on end… They probably got tired of hearing it lol ;p
Oh and I used your “freakin’ laser beams” line!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Graphical-Error-Bug-on-Hawk/first#post2056561
Btw, I got the issue fixed, I was just writing to find out if anyone else has ever seen this error code before as I could not find it listed on the wiki or the support page.
What temps are you running at? GPU and CPU.
Also, they recently made some “optimisations” to the game and will be rolling out new ones in additional updates. Perhaps giving them exact details would help them determine if they are going in the right direction or not. “Very hot” is not a quantifiable variable. Give us some digits friend! help others understand what you are experiencing.
Just monitor your temps! Run the game for awhile (minimum 10 minutes) and watch your temps… See if they go too high before making an assumption of possible damage. Fans run high to keep things cool, but you never know until you watch. Also gw2 is mostly CPU intensive, the GPU is typically under less load.
I agree, it’s not perfect, but you should have facts before asking for a fix. I also agree that things aren’t running as smoothly starting with the march 26th update, but recently, they mentioned that there were some “optimisations” in this latest patch and they will be continuing to implement new ones, so verifiable feedback is probably required, not speculation. If they made a change to the way a GPU handles the game, get them facts to let them know how well (or not) it is working.
Wondering when a dev will read this… Maybe Monday?

Clearing the gw2 folder deletes all settings stored locally on the computer.
I’ll post our full troubleshooting steps, read them completely before using some. It will be long.
1.) run software update to ensure all drivers and os are up to date.
2.) try repairing disk permissions via Disk Utility first. Then…
3.) repair the client install
Open Terminal
Type the following:
/applications/guild\ wars\ 2.app/contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:Gw2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -repair
You can copy and paste that in, but (check the dash) you must change the dash before the word USE or this will fail the forum shows an em dash (—), but it is supposed to be 2 consecutive en dashes (-). Run it and let it go until finished. FYI if you type the command yourself or paste it, they are 2 dashes (-) side by side… I’m noticing one sometimes looks like an em dash… It’s 2 en dashes though. (the dash before USE is 2 regular dashes)… Reiterated due to previous confusion about that dash on these forums.
4.)Perhaps after doing that, if it doesn’t work, you can try to delete the contents of the gw2 data folder, it’s a pain to get to the right one: this step is a general fix for many t kitten ues, even without the previous steps
Mine is located under the hidden Library folder (navigate using finder, do not use spotlight to search)
/[yourharddrivename]/users/[yourusername]/library/application support/guild wars 2
You may want to copy/paste this folder to your desktop as a temporary back up, just in case.
Delete the contents of that specific folder (you should see files like this contained within “config, dyndata.dat, user.reg, userdef.reg, and folders p_drive and wineserver…namestuff…loca..[long name]” just to list a few), then re-run the client..
~~Your folder is probably hidden (as is the default). Hidden folders display as greyed out text and icons. I found this after googling:
http://m.wikihow.com/See-Hidden-Folders-on-Mac-OS-X-and-Other-Recent-Models
Others claim alt+clicking a file/folder unhides the contents, but that was never successful for me. At least the link has visuals for you. Hope it helps.
5.) If none of this works, check the sticky and submit a ticket, then please come back here and report the fix that worked for you.
6.) final thought, you may want to check support.mac.com to find out about resetting pram and smc. Worth a shot, right?
If this doesn’t work at all, submit a ticket after viewing the sticky and then come back here to post your solution.
What is this code?
My hubs got it while trying to load the tp, he was just using the tp several minutes before it started and now that he has restarted his system, he just gets the continuous spinning gold circle.
Mac beta client on an MBPr.
Any thoughts on what that code means would be appreciated. Thanks.
I really think you should check your console files because even if the client isn’t registering a crash, the console might be picking up a memory error or some other random issue.
(I found my wireless router issue using this method, I had chronic disconnects since launch that no one else had, even my hubs on the same network had no issues, found out why with a little determination)
I don’t necessarily think that works they way you think. I don’t think you can use the Mac dat file on the pc client.
You may just want to start fresh from a new install despite trying to save time and bandwidth. But if you look around these forums, you’ll see the PC version has many of the same issues… They just don’t have laser hawks lol.
This seems to be part of the common guild issue being experienced by many. Some say it’s associated with Lion’s Arch, but some say it’s completely random. There were a lot of guild issue posts in the game bugs forum, but they recently unstickied the post due to so many varied issues. I would submit a ticket regarding this as it is most likely an Anet issue.
Sorry I don’t think we’ll be able to help you here, but if there is some fix on your end that Anet recommends, please come back here and post it. Thanks and good luck, hope you get resolved soon (chances are others within the guild are experiencing this too).
Also, turrets don’t hit dragons like tequatl… Kind of a bummer there too.
Several pc users have confirmed that this works for them! Yay for an odd fix ;p
Please give us some details so we can try to help you. System specs, error codes, any symptoms prior to the crash? Anything you think might be of note… Also, you may want to check your arenanet crash log and your console for any errors generated.
They are and they did mention it in a post somewhere on one of the many threads regarding this same issue. They’re suggested fix is just to wait it out. I do hope this works for you and soon! Once you get one version to finish, you shouldn’t need to download again until the next patch/update. Crossing fingers for you!
Have you tried any of the solutions listed above? There are 2 there that may work.
Glad to hear that! And thanks for the update.
I’ll be doing that on my hubs laptop soon due to a new, yet odd ui flashing/glitching issue.
Wow! I truly hope you aren’t banned because of honesty. I mean, it’s not like you were insulting or nasty or offensive, you simply were giving your opinion on the service provided to you and trying to get help for the rest.
I bought the collector’s edition for the pc myself, I never dreamed it would be on Mac! I even sent money while I was living overseas to a family member and begged them to go to an EB in the US at midnight to prebuy in full for me so it would be waiting for me at home by launch! But they did it, they gave us the Mac version and Rytlock watched over me while I excitedly installed my Mac client lol. Honestly, it was a gift to finally play this game on my preferred OS. I’ve also spent a couple hundred of dollars on gems (between myself and hubs). And as you stated, the poor service has made me wonder why we’re treated like less.
Sincerely, I thank you for writing your honest opinion in that survey and trying to bring us and all the Mac users the attention we need and deserve.
And maybe c00000094, c0000005, dstbits, lockedrectbits, and trippy, glitchy hawks will someday get fixed. (and possibly the mutual pc/Mac file a bug report and quickly switch character lockup too)
(edited by Kyllaa.1385)
It’s been that way since launch. I think that is intended in some way.
It will more likely be ignored like the rest of the Mac posts there. Buried and gone in no time.
You may want to post your system specs, try re-downloading/installing the client, or just submitting a ticket for this specific issue (check the submit a ticket sticky).
Also, make sure your windows update is complete (but doubt that might be the issue).
Thanks for finding this Dragoon (ff reference, love it), I posted it on the PC tech support forums since several pc users there had this work as well. Hoping the devs see it and figure out why it works and to prevent the issue from occurring in the future.
Lol, I’ve googled before too, but never actually found a fix outside the gw2 forums, great sleuthing!
A Mac client user has found this interesting fix for stalled downloads (with 1 file left or 99%). It may or may not work for you, but it’s worth a try and I’d also like to bring it to the attention of the devs to possibly help them find out what has gone wrong.
If your downloader is stuck, change the language to FRENCH or German (located in the top right corner). The person who found this said Spanish did not work. Once it gets to 100% and competes, you can change the language back to English or whatever your default is.
You should then be able to play.
Please post here if this worked for you as well (or not) to help the devs pinpoint this bizarre issue. Thanks!
(of course, this assumes you aren’t having firewall/router/antivirus issues/conflicting programs issues)
(edited by Kyllaa.1385)
Awesome! So glad to hear that!!!!
Hi Rob! I’m speculating many of our issues are direct x related. But since there hasn’t been an arena net dev presence on this forum in MONTHS, I’ve encouraged a few peeps to post in the pc forums with me and one person actually started a post for the hawks issue, which I have taken upon myself to follow up on near daily. I figure, I’ll post a new pic daily until someone (dev) posts acknowledgement.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Graphical-Error-Bug-on-Hawk/first#post2050589
Unfortunately, our cries here will continue to go unanswered. You can view my post [WARNING:Mac client forum not supported by anet] for those updates on this forum.
If you find any issues, you may search recent pats for our latest self-help troubleshooting, but for bugs like the hawk or unresolvable issues, you can roll the dice in a ticket and hope they have their handy-dandy Mac troubleshooting script on hand rather than the pc one lol.
Seriously, if you have issues, jar keep sending tickets and make mention that no one was available on the mac forums which are not supported by them anymore. Worth a shot since they’re not listening here.
Btw, thanks Fey! I’m glad to help when I can, I wish I was a pro to do it better ;p
For anyone still reading this, I’ve recently made a post on the pc tech forum trying to get any help at all for us… ANY response from an actual dev and not just a nameless moderator who won’t be able to help us. You may read my ranty, long post here and follow up to see if anyone responds if you desire.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Where-can-we-get-help
Here’s hoping for a little love!
[Please don’t read unless you care, it’s going to be lengthy and please don’t comment if you’ve got nothing helpful to say. Thanks!]
Hi! I’ve been posting on these forums regularly for a bit now, but I’m finding a major issue here:
Where can Mac users get help?
Yes, you may say “go to the Mac client forums” but I can assure you that there is no formal help there. I have been the only one on there helping Mac users with their game issues for around a month now and only recently has someone else been helping (thanks Trog). So that is not an option, considering I’ve been waiting over 3 weeks for ANYONE to even write back on a post there from Anet after a moderator told us that they would let someone know of our issues.
You may suggest “submit a ticket” and yet we recently had a dev send a Mac person instructions on how to delete the local.dat file and download a windows software update, then use game advisor as well. Hmmm, that’s not for Mac! Or they just give up on the person.
Oh, we could just post our issues where devs are actually reading posts, yet all of the Mac client related posts are typically ignored or someone rudely says “the Mac forums are over there.” thank you for that, but it’s like being in solitary confinement over there. No one else is there to hear you.
What about this?
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9231
This tells us to use the forums, but again, we haven’t had a dev response in over 4-5 months now. So maybe someone should update this and tell Mac users the truth.
So my question again, where are we supposed to go to get help?
I’m posting this on the tech support forum because this isn’t a bug and I figured, if anyone could help us with the issues many of the Mac users are facing, it would be the tech team since most of the Mac issues are similar to the PC ones being brought up and ANSWERED here. We just need different instructions and we don’t have new drivers to worry about or direct x (since that is part of our out-of-date wrapper). Besides, where would we even post our bugs to get them some attention? I’ve had a thread going for 3 weeks without 1 response from a non-Mac person, let alone a dev. I did have one post acknowledged and that was only because it also affected PC users.
So, please, someone… Anyone… Where can we get help for the Mac client?
Thanks for taking the time to read this and offering any viable solutions!
~sorry for the length~
Thanks for trying that Slam! I’m really glad to hear it worked for you!
I think I remember this issue from months ago. I couldn’t remember which story step had the missing text. I sent an in-game report in november about this.
Glad to hear Spoon!
Lol I posted this on the pc forums, but I’ve had 2 peeps say that it didn’t work… Lol looks like we have a fix that they don’t have ;p
Also, you didn’t post your vid card. Make sure you give that to the techies if you submit a ticket.
Honestly, I think you should make a ticket about this (see the submit a ticket sticky), since I haven’t seen a fix for this at all and this forum is currently not being supported by Anet. But I’ll post all of our basic troubleshooting steps as well if you would like to have a self-help go at it. I’ll include a couple Mac options that I saw someone else said that the tech guys suggested.
[length warning] read each step thoroughly before performing!
1.) run software update to ensure all drivers and os are up to date.
2.) try repairing disk permissions via Disk Utility first. Then…
3.) repair the client install

6. You can also try resetting pram and the smc. (go to support.apple.com for instructions for your system)
Please come back and report what worked or not for you. And if you go for a ticket, please come back here and post the fix they give you. It’s maccies helping maccies on this forum, so we need your help too. Thanks and good luck fixing your issue.
