Thief is like perfectly designed for conquest, unless something majorly gutted it or they gave another class equal mobility/stealth it will most likely always be meta in PvP.

Why would you want a tail? And what kind of tail? Are we adding random animal parts to humanoid things for fun? I’m so confused. Plis no fish heads on humans.

Think most people would prefer a faster cast time. I really don’t see why it needs that much of a damage nerf though, air/fire have been nerfed, and we have bruisers everywhere in tournies practically unkillable while being able to might stack high for similar damage. Some traits might have to be looked at though.

Now if it removed condis I’d take lesser damage.

Well yes it may consume them, but cleansing ire states they need to hit with an attack to cleanse the conditions. So does that mean as long as they are zero, whenever they hit they cleanse? Sorry sorta confused.

I already saw a couple of warrriors use cleasing ire bow on the ground and condis were cleared. I don’t know if it was a random bug or something. But already happened a couple of times.

The longbow F1 doesn’t need to hit a target to proc cleansing ire. Not a bug since there’s always a fire field when it lands.

It’s silly to compare skills across professions because they all work differently. They’re balanced for how the profession is designed.

If people think baslisk venom is bad then they don’t understand coordinated burst or good openings in PvP.

Reaper is also getting an aoe shout stun as well, similar effects but made differently cause professions are made a certain way.

It is sad for people who like playing asura/charr. It’s just less work for Anet though when they can make same male/female outfits for them and just focus on humanoid clipping issues.

Asura/Charr still master race though.

Burning needs shaved before unnecessary nerfs hit classes that apply a lot of it.

I really do not think rampage needs nerfed, it’s basically like lich form to me. Yeah the stances carrying over and being able to stomp/rez should be looked at, but damage/cd wise I think it’s fine.

Most people are smart enough to get away from it when they see it, and necros can just plague over it. It does have some counter play.

Boon spam is pretty crazy on classes that’d want duration, I don’t think it’s that much of a problem really. Look at how DD eles and bunker guards are doing in PvP atm. Just a couple examples but yeah I barely notice the lack of duration.

Nec is bottom tier in PvP still right above ranger atm. That’s just because of how it’s designed though to be too unique and not given things everything else has.

I agree we are still in the WvW meta.

I agree the seeing stealth idea is kind of silly and not needed.

The same complaints you are seeing now are the same complaints that have been going on for years so it’s not like you should be surprised if you come to the forums and see them.

Riiiight. I’m sure FoW and UW are doing it as well. Or any server guaranteed last in their grouping anyways. Literally not a big deal until you get higher up, and NA makes a bigger spectacle of it.

Because a tournament is useless. It literally changes nothing about WvW, especially if it’s like last time where you do a few things and you’re done for a week. Rewards are crap. WvW isn’t balanced at all so any idea of a tournament is a joke.

I don’t really see the point, it’s not like necros have a problem with thieves. Main thing is they can just disengage from us but seeing them doesn’t help with that.

Mesmer stealth it could help a little, but we still get stunlocked for day or countered by moa regardless and ranged pressured to death.

Engi and Ranger doesn’t have enough prevelant stealth to care about it.

Main problem is anything it does isn’t as good as anything else. Yeah it can do great zerker damage, but has the least amount of active defense so it’s the easiest zerker to kill.

Yeah they have a bunkery build now but it has almost no support (just gimmicky stuff at most) or damage. You’d be 100x better off bringing an ele or bunker guard.

They are also the slowest profession in game at getting around points so that hurts in conquest.

Even the signet build right now, it’ll melt any condi build but those are rare and it’ll still suffer from lack of active defense like every build and almost no mobility.

Let’s also not forget we have no heal any other profession would even want. Aside from CC but that’s been nerfed when it needed buffed. The cast time made it already counterable by any monkey with a brain pre nerf.

Which comes to another problem. Everything has a 10 year cast time. Add in utilities with too high cds, badly designed weapons, and being a ping pong ball and then yeah.

Sure if you’re not high end PvP things have gotten better, but there’s still no place for a necro up there. I’m sure if NA had a better scene even Nos would stop.

All this said I think we did pass the poor rangers up in PvP, and they need more love atm than anything.

Seriously though, Anet needs to watch the whole theme over usefulness thing. We all like theme but too much theme and you get necro.

Judging by traits like Disarming Riposte which is 1 blind every 20 seconds I think it’s safe to say a lot of the traits are like in alpha and hopefully will be fixed to be more useful.

While I definitely disagree with their design choices I somewhat understand the feel they want for the necromancer, so I somewhat understand being slow and things like that (reluctantly), but then they just go over the top with things like, “Blast finishers don’t fit necros” you’re just like oh come on you’re going over the top.

Their current design of the necro lacks almost everything that makes a good profession in this game and I sometimes wonder how they don’t see that.

NA scene doesn’t really have another high level team.

Too bad we can’t do some cross region tournaments besides WTS so we could watch them play some EU teams more.

I had like a 3-0 record yesterday, all games had no dcers/leavers, and games decided within like like 75 points. It was scary. Too scary. If PvP could always be like that it’d be amazing.

I stopped queueing before I ruined the magic though.

Basically what Zetsumei said. Different situations means you use them differently. It’s not always spread them out.

I agree a lot of people can’t use them properly though.

They’re just using the term ‘fixed’ very loosely.

Hopefully NA builds some longer lasting better teams, it doesn’t seem like Abjured fights any equal teams until the WTS comes around, it kinda ruins the NA stream for me.

I’m hoping it atleast gets a weapon swap or more utilities for each legend still. I really don’t like its design for PvP though, and Ventari line seemed terrible and too gimmicky to be useful. The whole profession seems so pigeonholed instead of being versatile like I expected but we’ll see.

I’m pretty sure if the Reaper comes out with bad coefficients and numbers it’s going to be Consume Conditions all over again.

Surely Anet knows where we stand PvE numbers wise and just why the reaper design would need those big numbers with the least amount of active defense/mobility for a melee spec and also more annoying interruptable long cast times.

Tornado is another case of a transform elite that needs a rework. I don’t like transforms in general, would rather see new types of skills instead.

Let’s just make fear a necro only mechanic that can’t be stopped by stability or condi clears or stun breaks all together!

You missed the point entirely.

Just because something has a higher skill ceiling than it’s counterparts does not inherently make it better than the counterparts. Mesmer has a high skill floor and a ridiculous high skill ceiling. The other professions can take advantage of the knowledge and tactics used at very, very high level Mesmer play in addition to their strengths.

Simply stating that a Mesmer is OP because Helseth is OP at Mesmer (or Misha or Frostball or whoever you want to bring up) is not entirely accurate. All that you can say for certain is that that player is good at the profession and plays well. Now, it’s possible for them to overpower their opponents, but that does not inherently mean that their profession is overpowered in relation to their opponents professions.

Let’s say that ANet releases a new Profession called the Commando. Most (if not all) people avoid the Commando and don’t play them due to playstyle tastes. However, there is a dedicated Commando community, although they aren’t very good at playing MMOs and play poorly. Tournaments come and go and in each Tournament players rarely see Commandos and the ones that do appear don’t tend to make any impact at all. Does that mean that Commandos are underpowered? Does that mean that Commandos need to get buffed?

The main point I was trying to make is the unique things that mesmers have now they always have had and it’s always the reason to have wanted them. The profession wasn’t hated beyond belief, if played at a very high level it was nice and useful. Before the core specs they had portal, they had moa, they had great incombat active defense, they had great burst, the d/p thief just hard countered it, but even great mesmers could beat them.

Right now they overpower almost any other zerk spec so it’s a lower skill cap to be viable, but the things that are making it unique and useful it has always had.

I live in NA and play on SFR T1 EU, my average ping is around 150.

I still can’t bring myself to take my necro into dungeons without feeling like I’m gimping my group in some way. That’s a bigger problem for me.

yeah, mesmer is too op currently. but I think anet purposely made mes in that way cuz mes were out of any tourney team formation so far. but it is also clear that anet do make something op to make something familiar, just like we saw from celementalist. Mesmers were in WTS and TOL all the time.
Ranger is the only class that doesn’t show up in TOL3 top 8 teams.
Necro is almost on the same boat, but at least they do present in a few quantity.
How come I don’t see ranger got the OP buff treatment, but rather nerf all around? (except for LB, BM line and WS)
Guess Anet HATE HATE HATE ranger so very much.

The abjured and Nos say knock knock. Necro has been used quite a bit thanks to them.
However for quite a while especially once DUMBfire was initially introduced mesmers were considered not viable at all. And they were only slowly brought back in by mesmer players that were the most hardcore mesmer players.
Lets not forget the spirit ranger nightmare that was also around the same time as dumbfire.

I am very confused about all the people always saying mes wasn’t viable. It was always viable before the latest patch. Helseth? Misha? Frostball? You just had to be very exceptional because d/p thief basically hard countered it. A great mesmer was always wanted because portal is such a game changing invaluable tool, the only problem was you had to be a great mesmer. Professions like necro and ranger only dreamed of being where mesmers were at before the latest patch viability wise.

I am honestly baffled how people act like mesmers have been bad for years. You may have only had one viable top tier pvp build, but it was always viable and always useful if you were good enough to play it.

Also to nitpick on the necro thing, Nos was the only person who bothered playing necro because it had so many problems. You literally saw no one but him. Dhuumfire was around for maybe a month, while engineers kept IP for years. Shatter mesmer has been around for years as well, but you try to take one player, and one build that barely lasted and try to say mesmers had it worse?

Back on topic Mesmers are over the top atm, but I’d prefer a damage overall nerf before we start tinkering with traits and skills for any profession. I’m not seeing 5 a game still, normally 2 maybe 3.

My experience is the lower you go the more prideful the servers are about defense. They make a home bl defending like community and also don’t have to deal wtih unkillable map blobs when outnumbered.

This is also a double edged sword because the farther you go down the less help you’ll have though.
