I’ve been having this issue multiple times every day. Npcs will disappear, character models all go to the lowest possible for no reason, party portraits will not show characters, and everytime I try to wp it’s easily 5mins+ instead of a couple seconds like usual. It really is making wvw unplayable for me especially after waiting hours into a queue then I randomly get this bug where I either stay in the map but can’t die/wp, or I requeue and it takes 1hour+ to get back in.

The bug goes away when you go to a new map.

Shortbow is used on basically every pvp related thief build for its utility and mobility. Ranger it’s pretty bad still though.

The main issue with them coming out with only a shortbow isn’t that only two professions can use it, but that The Dreamer is so amazingly perfect the new bow can’t compete with it.

While a lot of people don’t like the change, and I think they could’ve made it better, like nerfing other aspects of condi reaper or making it a different condition than bleed, I still think it was a necessary nerf. The power creep HoT brought has really hindered pvp imo. All of the elite specs needed things nerfed to various degrees as they are all so much better than the core counterparts which everyone can agree with. And reaper was easily debatable as a top 3 profession in it so I’m not surprised by how we got hit harder than others.

People have to keep in mind what also get nerfed or hit, it’s not like reaper is totally useless and everything stayed the same as it was. Except mesmer and rev. Idk how they avoided so many nerfs.

And we really do need seperate balancing for the game modes. And while I do feel bad for PvE necros if it does hurt them there, we all know Anet balances it off PvP so you shouldn’t be taken off guard by it.

If you think you can balce core and elites to the same lvl and have meaningfull elites then you are wrong. More meaningfull choices->better choices->stronger.

Well I still think our core mechanic line (Soul Reaping) and other professions’ should be turned into an elite spec as well so it can be brought in line with reaper and future elite specs. It’s silly if you think elite specs should be default better than core specs as it just means each elite spec we get will be better and if it makes the core spec obsolete what’s to stop them from making each previous elite spec obsolete? The point is to have build diversity not have 1 mandatory trait line that’s superior in every build.

Condi reaper was one of the things actually keeping power reaper in the dirt, fyi. That’s how logic works.

U then completely remove condi dmg from condi reaper, making it a 6-7/10


How does that make power reaper “more viable” ?
How does that “bring back power reaper” into a 5man party where everyone is a 9-11 out of 10.

Ofc in low tier soloq everything is viable but dont use that logic pls.

The introduction of a power/precision/ferocity/toughness amulet allows you to do marauder damage but with cele/wanderers toughness. With the extra ferocity, you can use the axe to replace the scepter (neither are projectiles) with Close to Death and even potentially Decimate Defenses, which frees you up for FitG, which should help alleviate the infusing terror duration nerf. Without Deathly Chill or Chilling victory, you’re freed from suffer to take NCSY, which is killer in the current scrapper/rev/chrono playing field. Like I said, I’m not calling the meta, just saying power reaper might end up working for much of the playerbase if the condi reaper nerfs play out in the way we’re thinking. On the other hand, power reaper might remain trash, but it’s fun to speculate.

Power reaper will always be trash in small scale pvp environments considering how bad axe is damage wise and you need to be in melee to do damage. If you pop lich it’s a moa me/hit me/run away sign. Lack of mobility/active defense means you’re just an hp sponge and will be focused and cc’d to death for the most part. It might be a little a better if we ever get a power ranged weapon, but staff is what we’re always forced to take.

This nerf made me sadder than the reaper hood not showing asura ears/charr horns. I really thought reaper could shine in PvP as long as they left BB alone, it actually let us interact with our team and be supported very well.

I will never get why sustain is so bad for a necro to have when they won’t give it active defense. And yet some classes get both with better mobility. Being a slow, selfish, HP sponge is annoyingly bad design for pvp.

The range.

In PvP with no active defense and no mobility and no healing in shroud it’s harder to peel for us so the range is needed. Against good teams you’ll just be focused and a free kill if you can’t atleast fight from a distance in some parts of fights. Axe range is just too small.

I’ve literally never seen a condi mesmer complain so much. It’s like they don’t know what they’re playing.

Mesmer has a huge amount of active defense and incombat mobility and can escape so many fights when put in a tight spot, and you’re being one shot by the slowest profession in the game.

I just literally cannot grasp this complaint, if the reaper is running transfers then stop trying to 1v1 it because it’s a counter. Otherwise work on your mesmer skills. Heck, just switching to power would counter the reaper because they cannot handle range pressure in a 1v1.

If you’re having trouble in teamfights with it, well ofc, that should always be the case.

I will personally give up blighter’s boon and give it to Ithilwen for mesmer stealth and ports. :P

Anyways it’s really not op, a lot of necros are having trouble with reaper shroud because it doesn’t feel tanky enough, and you’re being forced to take SR line. It’s a much needed trait for what little active defense and sustain we do have though. Any ICD would ruin the trait and we’d still be even more kill fodder unless making some useless bunker build that will eventually die because of interrupts and focus.

If you are fighting a necro and 3 people can’t kill him, then he must be literally doing the damage of a bunker guard with 99% less team support. So even if it was broken enough to tank like a DD ele or bunker guard it has to give up everything. Like I said literally a bunker guard with no support.

It’s always going to be an issue because shrouds don’t scale well. If you have more opponents you technically have better lf regen, the only problem is they can all be spread out and at range, coupled with necros innate slow attacks and bad mobility make it very annoying. If you make it better in a 5v5 it becomes even more over the top in a 1v1. If you make it worse in a 1v1 it’s even worse in a 5v5.

If they find some way to make it scale vs multiple opponents properly I will just bow to them because that would be a huge fix for necro.

So after watching the video it’s safe to assume everyone agrees ice bow is stupid. He didn’t make any amazing revelation there. Nerfing it doesn’t change eles still having the best dps even without it and the amount of fire fields/fury/vuln they can provide and have a godly amount of active defense.

His numbers are all wrong, his builds are terrible, what he says about other people and the generalizations he tried to throw on them such as Miku in the comments makes me embarassed I play the same profession as him. Him and his fan boys were literally the most toxic thing I’ve seen related to this game on the youtube comments.

If his point was necros can still do dungeons and do damage well duh they can, it’s still nowhere near the best dps, and it’s all we bring, he literally can’t argue that. And he basically claims everything in the game is an exploit, like stealthing and reflecting. No, that’s just bad game design. People aren’t abusing exploits, Anet gave us content and tools to go through that content, and have been content with people using our abilities to do the content.

Even if they did fix the bad encounter/AI design that doesn’t change the fact the necro has little utility and active defense and even in a more active fight our dps wouldn’t be worth it to take over anything more useful.

Frankly all I got from this video is Nemesis is trying to force his ideas and beliefs onto others and then just flaming anyone who remotely disagrees. We all play the necro because we like it, but don’t let how much you like it blind you from its faults.

Yeah my main problem is I know I’m outright making content more of a burden on the group on a necro.

People will always be able to find groups with friends, but some of us want to feel useful so we’ll still play something better in certain content unless anet fixes necro or pve design.

I see people pointing out very niche situations in which we would excel in, let’s not forget versatility is a huge component of the game. Ele is a god in all game modes because it can literally do everything. Necros have never been very versatile. So even if there is one gimmicky phase or fight a necro could be the most useful in what about all the other time in the raid? Why not bring a profession who would be more useful overall.

I agree with Bhawb who said we still know nothing about the raid design, but if we just judge from experience I say necros will still be bottom tier.

I’m still not as optimistic as some people here.

They can change raid mechanics to help us, that still doesn’t change the fact we have subpar dps/lack of meaningful support and what support we do have other professions can do better, we lack active defense, and we lack mobility.

All we’re really good at is burst boon removal or condi transferring. And I don’t think they’ll make entire raids relying on that.

I think if they expanded shroud capabilities like let us use our own utilities or develop shroud’s own utilities you’d see less people asking for a double shroud.

I wouldn’t be opposed having multiple shrouds but the way necro is set up it would literally lock reaper line in so many more builds just for the versatility and I don’t think they want to kill what shallow diversity there is.

I’ve always had a problem with celestial amulet.

If you just look at all the various tournaments and especially WTS celestial has always been used. The main problem is we have classes with a lot of active defense or sustain and are good at might stacking in some way, this makes bruisers which are basically the best things to run in conquest. If you go full bunker you can’t kill anything, if you go full zerker/marauder you can’t sustain anything. Bruisers sustain and damage well and celestial exacerbates it. It really has no trade off, even with the stats lowered on it it still makes professions way too versatile compared to other amulets.

I’d like to see more specialized pvp roles as it would allow more professions imo to break into teams. Or they’d have to make every class just as viable as another with celestial and that’d be boring/hard/impossible.

Right now we just have roamers and bruisers, occasionally you’ll see a bunker guard, but I’d like to see more professions like it where it does have trade offs. Bunker guard you have bad mobility and no damage, but can carry a team fight. What’s the trade off for most cele classes? DD ele, old shoutbow, old engi all were/are (ele) broken. Necro now is probably the most balanced of them since it lacks mobility and active defense, but if it had just one of those it’d be up there with DD eles complaints.

This lack of diversity also effects the roamer role too as thief/mesmer are just better than everything because they can pull of marauder the best. The stealth and ports and ability to disengage make them clear picks over other professions in most serious teams. Like yeah we have had rampage war and well necro and burn guard but they all lack the proper sustain (stealth is so huge to this as it helps mitigate pressure in fights and allows disengage) to survive and mobility to rotate. But this isn’t on topic technically so enough of that tangent. However I do think it’s a relevant comparison.

Conquest mode just favors certain professions too heavily and I doubt getting rid of celestial, even though I’d like it, would solve the problem.

Asura helps a lot if you PvP. Necro has a lot of slow cast times and animations and feels so slow that the smaller the character the more fluid it feels imo.

Aesthetically probably human female since most things in game are made for it.

Charr is my favorite race but anet can’t design light armor for them at all.
