How do you turn off the logging of receiving harvested items? it’s completely flooding my chat window making it useless.

It’s an option under the Game Messages chat filter.

To be precise: the inventory check (there are a few choices there :p)

A lot of guilds have it already. I would build it for my guild but they dont want one

Then your guild is crazy for not wanting it! lol

They think the music is too annoying and I dont want to waste 400g on something that will be hidden in a distant area of the guild hall

If I could make it, I would so make that, and plant it in the middle of the hall too!

Outfits versus Armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LadyRhonwyn.2501

LadyRhonwyn.2501

The only thing I have against outfits, is that Anet is making them instead of real armour. And that kittens me to tears. Seriously, it’s heartbreaking.

It’s easier. No need to be concern about horrible clipping caused by mixing pieces from armor sets. They only need to hang them on each race’s animation rig, test them at a few preset sizes and it’s good to go. With armor, to be thorough they would have to test each armor piece with each adjacent armor piece that could clip. Every new armor set increases the mix testing set by more tests than the previous set did. Of course if ANet and the players stop giving a kitten about clipping issues it would make their life so much easier.

And yet most outfits clip horribly. With long hair, with tails, with ears, with horns… And the problem with outfits is, that I might be able to turn off the head piece, the shoulder piece cannot be turned off (the thing that clips the most with hair), or the coat piece (the thing that clips most with tails).

Compact bags an issue?

I would really appreciate this change. My way of organizing is not the Anet way of organizing. Using only invisible bags is rubbish, as I do want to send stuff to my material storage. And I do want to sell stuff at the merchant. The invisible bag is not a single function bag, it has 3 functions in one.

I “throw around” Buyers Stockholm Syndrome when people rationalize purchases that are obviously overpriced. But that might be hard for you to grasp if you keep trying to rationalize everything. Most people know that this feature is super expensive.

Define expensive.

It’s a lot of money, I agree. But I’ve no idea if it’s expensive or not, considering I don’t know the cost to make, implement and maintain it.

I pay 700 gems, once, for an item that I will be able to use the rest of my gaming days in GW2 (presuming they won’t do a repeat of the SAB coin), for all of my characters. Every new character that I’ll get will also be able to make use of that item. With extra character I have, the value of the item will go up (for me). Considering I have 30 characters, I’d have had to buy 1 1/2 bag slots for the same amount of space…

I’ve had to change a chosen name twice: Phloxx became Tracker Phloxx and I had picked a translation to Welsh name for my sylvari elementalist that was already taken (I don’t remember what name I had in mind, it’s now Fudlosgi Tân, which means something like smoldering fire).

But even for Bayllanna I used my original spelling…

You people keep talking 3 years. People could bought a permanent license 1 day before the patch and Anet wont’ refund it. And Anet probably only refund other gem store item if it is only 1 month old.

Do you guys expect your hardware to get outdated? I’m sure you do.

How many people really see it coming on the shared bag? A few maybe. Most didn’t, that’s why they bought it.

One day, I agree with you, that should be refunded.

I did see it coming. I just didn’t think it would take this long… (or the price, I agree with the rest of you, it was too steep, but I still bought one…)

I don’t want to read every single post in this 10 page thread, but from the posts I did read, I get the impression that people think that casual players want easy content.

I’m a casual player. I don’t want easy content that can be done in 5 minutes with one arm tied behind my back. But I want to do the things in my own time (not talking about events, for those I will make time as they are temporary by their very nature).

An example: I needed to do the Shatterer for a collection. But that event is only every three hours. During a normal working day, I generally play around 2 hours. Which fall right between the three hours of the Shatterer.
The same goes for every HoT map. Whenever I go there to play there, I must either stay a long time, to find the right map for the meta or forget about that meta.
Right now, I just ignore HoT, as I know I won’t get the metas done with my playstyle anyway.

Let’s say you’ve had three copper-o-matics for two years. That means you got two years of convenience out of those items. So it wasn’t a waste at all; it just wasn’t as useful to you for as long as you hoped it would be. But you still got use and value out of it.

I don’t know bro. If Anet would told people in the beginning, most of people probably won’t bought it.

So I’m not sure if people get their “worth”.

I bought 9 permanent bank license, and multiple vendor/tp too. If Anet told me in the beginning I wouldn’t.

So can I use your time machine? B/c it would really help me if I could jump ahead and see what business and product decisions my bosses are making two years from now.

Really, you expected them to say “Here’s this new copper-fed-salvage-tool! Btw account slots coming in 2+ years maybe.” How would they even have known? Maybe the big bosses said NO to account slots back then. Maybe (pretty likely) the tech didn’t exist in the game to implement them properly.

Anyone might have predicted that account slots were coming eventually. But expecting a statement like that years before actual implementation is just bonkers. In what fluid, non-linear time do you live?

This is a weird rehash of the veteran player anger over HoT being released. I could understand being angry if you just bought multiple copper-feds or gathering tools, but if players have had these for a year or more and are complaining now it just seems so out of touch.

Also, their 9 bank tabs do not go to waste. Being able to store as many items as they can has definitive value. Pretending to undervalue what they have does not make their argument stronger.

How do they have value now. I can just use 1 and the other 8 have no use.

1 of it have value, the other 8 is totally useless

And I can know how poster are totally hyperbole when he keep mentioning 2 years. Anet could have some kind of refund policy, but no, they just don’t give a *.

A few years ago, I bought a printer. It meant that I didn’t have to go to copyshops anymore! Two years later I bought a new PC. Which didn’t have a printer port anymore.
Would you have expected a refund for that printer? It became useless even though it still worked perfectly.

People must have money to throw away if they are spending 700 gems for a 1 item slot. Even in a virtual world that can not be considered value for money.

Actually, it’s not a 1-item slot. For me, it’s a 30 item slot. Instead of having a salvage kit on each of my characters (thus, taking a total of 30 slots), I now need only 1 slot (the account one). At the least, it’s a 5-item slot (as everybody but F2P have at least 5 characters).

This type of item increases in value to the user with the number of character slots they have, and how often they play various characters. I have 11 slots so it’s pretty obvious that I’d be a prime customer. Even more compelling is that I don’t have a lot of duplicate luxury items. Three copper fed salvagers is it. So even at 700 gems a pop this represents a significant QOL improvement over what was available for the money a couple of days ago. Of course it would be even better if it was less expensive, but for me this is a sweet deal.

It was a no-brainer to me. I got 30 characters, most are parked at JP’s, the rest at certain gardens around the world. I’ve got one Copper-Fed-Salvager. I won’t be buying any salvaging kits anymore… (now, having a bank pass would have been icing on the cake, I’d have bought two slots then :p)

With those beautiful mountains to climb which shout “jump!”, this game was made for gliding (especially after playing Aion)

I hope its locked behind an epic journey of adventures and puzzles, nothing is fun if you just get it handed to you like your a 5 year old self entitled child. Long term goals with a real reward that is not +x power is a rare and good thing.

This post and ones like it are why HoT happened. Bought the game? Good, now go grind like a robot to unlock something. I don’t care about gliding in Tyria one way or the other but I’m fed up hearing players call other players entitled. You sound bitter, I’m over this.

Also it’s you’re not your. Just like this is our not your game.

There’s a difference between grinding the same events/puzzles over and over and over just to get the XP/Item/Whatever, and doing a lot of events and puzzles once to get the XP/Item/Whatever.

A tiny example: the Wintersday Grawl event. You go to three locations, at each location you do one thing. Once that is done, you go to a JP of each of the unique races (Human, Norn, Sylvari, Asura, Charr and Risen [technically not a race, but they do have their own style]) once to get a certain item.
It’s not really big enough to be an epic journey (but then it’s only a wintersday event). But the template is there…

On the one hand gliding is nice. On the other hand gliding messes with jumping. >_<

So people who want to jump can jump. All others will be relieved when they are finally free from the:
Step, step, jump too short, fall, start all over or waypoint routine.

I was talking with a guildie, and I came across one JP where gliding would defeat the purpose of the JP: the pirate one in LA. And most specifically, the first part. But I think that could be easily remedied by adding extra rocks on the ceiling so you cannot get airborne. For the rest, yes, it’s mostly an annoyance remover as you don’t have to slug back to the start of the JP anymore if you die…

I wouldn’t even mind if they added an extra mastery track in Tyria for it. For me, once I’ve finished the pact one, there’s nothing I want… (don’t care for Fractals at all, and those legendary weapons will come when they come, which isn’t anywhere near in the future…)

Ascended armor prices

once again:
The demand was increased without increasing supply

Before HoT:
- ascended mats for ascended armor and weapons

After Hot:
- ascended mats for armor and weapons
- for guild halls
- for precursors (both armor and weapons, as people are probably saving up for legendary armor)
- probably something else I can’t think of atm

all awhile, the supply didn’t change. You can still only craft 1 ascended mat a day.

And don’t forget the upped the price of ascended inscriptions by adding a leather component to it (they should have replaced a cloth component, but they didn’t…)

But no more dropping dead because that cliff is only a tad (or a few tads…) too high… I’d already be happy if we could just deploy our glider as chute! (so no updrafts and such). It would be awesome.

Truth is that based on horizontal progression only Anet will lose more and more people. They can’t create content that would be enjoyable forever.

If A-net wanted to make optional horizontal progression then they should have kept the lvl 80 as a goal and not show off the mastery points people have. I am sure with the new expansions (aka boxed Living Stories) they will increase the number of masteries. Imagine the cruel psychological hit a new player will get when he will see a player with 1240 mastery points next to their names instead of lvl 80.

This is something I agree with. When somebody looks at a character, they should see the level, not the mastery points. This current setup has the potential to be worse than the achievement points (regarding parties demanding a certain amount).

I hate to say it but if you’re having to beg for donations/crafting materials then your guild isn’t on the same page as you in regards to working together on the same goal. You should obviously care about the growth of your guild but do it at your own pace.

I do agree on this, mostly, but…

One point the OP points out is completely true. People will leave small guilds because larger guilds will get stuff faster. But small guilds won’t be the problem, it will be the middling ones. Smaller guilds will most likely consist of people that don’t really care that they’re first. Larger guilds won’t have a problem at all, but the guilds in between will lose members to the larger guilds.

I love the look and sounds of Lion’s Arch, and the activities are so much fun! I don’t mind not getting the mastery points, as there will be time for those later. Just had the best time in the Labyrinth! I was part of a zerg with a great commander (wish I would have noted his or her name), and there was even an ArenaNet employee with us (again, I was so immersed in playing I failed to note his or her name), but I just want to say to the commander and to ArenaNet, it was awesome!

Yep, for me, mastery points will still be there to achieve when Halloween is over.

All precursers were changed to the new skins. Each precurser as far as I know had a look alike, so it should still be obtainable from that other gun, assuming there is one for the Hunter.

The Hunter is one precursor that didn’t have a PvE look-alike. But that makes me wonder, is the Hunter I have unlocked changed a well?

I’m afraid that they might have removed future acquisition of vanilla model. In wardrobe you have both designs but on TP just new one. Am hoping someone will confirm that in a way you can still acquire vanilla design.

The design only if the vanilla precursor still drops. Otherwise, I doubt it. Unless they added a new named rifle in the mix with the same skin…

Edit:

That Hunter Experiment looks funny! But I prefer the old Hunter over the new one…

Not talking about experiment one, just the two rifles named “The Hunter”. I really, really hope there is a way to get it. Maybe by making Predator you get the skin unlocked or something…

Yes, I know you’re talking about the normal one, I just hadn’t seen those “experimental” precursors :p They’re funny

You’ll automatically unlock any skins you put in the forge. So, if you put in that new Hunter, you’ll unlock the new Hunter. But didn’t Anet mention somewhere that the old way of making legendaries will still work? If that’s the case, the old precursors should still drop in the same places they did before: with a tiny tiny tiny chance as drop or from the forge.

My guess is there’s no much underwater combat in the new zones. Maybe with the next expansion there’ll redo underwater and then add the legendaries at that time.

That’s not the point. You can use those weapons outside the new areas as well. It’s another signal that they want to remove all underwater combat.

Not adding new is not the same as removing. Or you’re suggesting a massive redesign of current maps? All the water is going to vaporize or what? Poor quaggans.

Naturally I don’t believe they’ll redesign every map to remove underwater combat… (not that there isn’t any precedent for that in this game….)

But it does give the signal: we don’t want to do anymore underwater stuff, we’re almost sorry we even started it so we’re removing it where we possibly can and ignore it for the rest…

Fun

No one ever seems to say, “oh I have more fun doing them now. They’re better than the last set that way.” No, it’s always how fast I can get them over and done with. That’s the difference between the old and new sets of dailies. The old set I did while having fun. The new set is what I do before having fun. And that’s what it sounds like to me everytime someone makes a point of how quickly they can get them out of the way so they can go off and do something else. Dailies that have turned into some sort of chore to do, if you bother to do them at all, are dailies that are poorly designed.

exactly what I was thinking! Before the change, they could take an hour, but I wouldn’t mind as I was doing what I wanted to do anyway. Now, I want to get them out of the quickly, or not do them at all, before I start what I want to do.

My guess is there’s no much underwater combat in the new zones. Maybe with the next expansion there’ll redo underwater and then add the legendaries at that time.

That’s not the point. You can use those weapons outside the new areas as well. It’s another signal that they want to remove all underwater combat.

The PvP cooperative rooms are custom arenas owned by PvE people for PvE people. They will say Daily on the description. You can go in one and in a few minutes get at least 2 of the PvP dailies. Kill (cooperative: designated spot on each map). Capping (the two sides take turns claiming a spot). Defend: kill someone on the other side (by permission) while standing on the claimed spot. You don’t even have to stay after getting 2 of 3. You can leave right then and go do a harvest daily.

I looked at those custom arenas, they only have some strange abbreviations I don’t even know, no clue what that is all about, nor even how to join one…

I did this same daily in about ~15 min last night.

a) Maw starts at a specific time, coincidentally had a guildie there that could taxi me in when it was about to start. While waiting I did —

Maw was finished by time time I logged on (18:15 my time, it’s now 19:33). That’s why I generally don’t even look at those world boss dailies. They are the worst daily of them all, you either are lucky and he shows up while you’re playing, or you can forget it. That’s not even a choice…

On my scale, today was a 3. No harvesting in a home instance, no ruins or big spender (me and WvW = me dead because I always encounter a huge blob of foes whenever I go to an enemy borderland), our own borderland was completely green (our colour). I could have done the PvP and Wastes harvesting, but just didn’t feel like PvP.

ANet forgot how to count… There are 19 weapons in the game, and they’re talking about the full set of 16? Might as well remove any river, lake and sea…
