Patch hours too late for Europe again?

I don’t really see the problem with those patch times. Sure, I’d like to see the new content asap as well, but it won’t kill me if I only see it the next evening. It’s not like the content will only be there for a day (and if it is, like Store discounts, it’s always in multiples of 24 hours, so it doesn’t really matter what time it starts exactly…)

dailies are easy there are 4 PvE choices everyday so idk what OP is talking about you don’t ever have to do PvP or WvW to do the Daily

There’s a difference between easy and doable.

Take today’s: Shadow Behemoth. Which ended about 5 minutes ago. I came online 3 minutes ago. So, easy, yet not doable as I won’t be online again in 2 hours.
Second: Harathi Hinterlands Events. Events are the worst dailies you can have, especially if only one area counts. I’ve given up on getting that one, unless I have multiple hours to burn or it’s in Wayfarer and I am in time for the Maw. Or it’s in SW.
The harvesting is always doable and easy.
And fractals is my own problem, as I hate partying with strangers…

I never have more than 10g-20g in my wallet at all times. Whenever I get anything more than that I put it into my gbank at the end of the day.

It adds up fast.

Just a comment on this. Personal guilds are not covered by account restorations. If someone is hacked and their account and personal guild are stripped of everything, an account rollback will restore your account to the state it was before the hack with all your items and gold but any gold and items in the guild bank and vaults are lost forever.

I’m not sure I’d want to keep playing if my account was hacked… Because then I’d not be sure anymore that ANet is safe (considering I use the mobile authenticator…)

2 straight hours last night alone. As of right now, I’ve probably spent about 5.5-6 hours all total just between yesterday and today and I am NOT a fan of WvW.

I’ve completed 2 borderlands maps. The one from this week while we were blue and the one we got at reset tonight (we’re green now). Done, don’t have to go back until next Friday night.

On Friday evening, I check what colour we are. If it’s a colour I’ve not finished the borderland for, I’ll check the borderland. And get what I need to get. An then some person will kill me even though I don’t even try to retaliate (in fact, just keep running) so, I’ll go back to the nearest WP and try again. And again. And again. Let them be happy for being unsporting (killing an unarmed person would be the comparison, I sometimes remove all weapons from my character as well). (Before the armour repair cost removal, I often even went naked to avoid having to pay for armour repairs as I wouldn’t get any coin in return anyway.) It’s worse when they take their time to get you defeated as you can’t WP when you’re only downed…

And once I have the borderland of that colour, I’ll check the EB for that same colour. With the same strategy (though, I find EB is a bit easier, except the two sp’s in the middle, near the dredge and the ogres)

The only real problem I have are the colours. It’s a pain if you have to wait several weeks before you are finally that last colour so you can finish the EB and that last borderland…

Selling Gift of Mastery

I’m against the sale of legendaries in the first place, so the Gift of Mastery would not be for sale by me either. The fact that you must have done the exploration of the entire map at least once should always be a requirement before you can get a legendary.

But I had to leave my map because after Vinewrath the Shovel Train took over, and it was a bummer fighting and holding forts by myself.

The idea of SW is nice, but this kind of ruins it for me. You have a good map going, then either everybody leaves ar they follow a set path after the vine for those chests… And I wish ANet would do something about the latter (maybe only have chest popup in the timeout phase and in the time the fortresses are safe, or something)

For the skins, if you were playing before the big Wardrobe update, you might have unlocked those skins through PvP and not had the precursor at all.

Even then, it’s possible. Tooth of Frostfang shares a skin with Corrupted Skeggox.

I loved the skin of the Hunter since I first saw it in the PvP locker so I was so happy when I got it from the MF. But I completely forgot that there is another rifle with the same skin so I unlocked the skin. And I’ve no intention to craft The Predator. I should have sold it and bought that other rifle instead …

Yes, at least for me. But I’ve some weird luck regarding those boxes…. I got my first (non-coat) box as drop after I bought the last required one from the merchant.

And I got my first coat box from the first vine encounter (guaranteed drop), the second from my second encounter and the third, yes you guessed it right, from the third encounter….

It would be weird if it’s hard to “rebuild” LA, since all they need is a backup from what it was before Scarlet destroyed it. I would love to see it in one piece again, it looks quite depressing at the moment, and the most important waypoint in the city still doesn’t work.

It should not look exactly like before, so that “backup” route would be an absolute no-no. But I’d love to see bridges being repaired, slowly, debris being cleared, slowly, houses being repaired, that kind of stuff. It would give a reason to walk the entire town again after every update….

What about this scenario?

You buy the expansion with real currency and get everything.
You buy the expansion with gems and only get things that are not directly tied to the new PvE maps (like the WvW map, some mysteries, etc.)

Sure, if it was like…half or less than half of the cost of the full expansion. otherwise it just would not make any sense.

That would depend on the total amount of content in the expansion and the amount of parts available in the store.

Mastery System Concerns.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: LadyRhonwyn.2501

LadyRhonwyn.2501

That is a very interesting point… The fact that you will no long get Skill Points for leveling after 80 will probably make some people not want to buy the expansion for a while.

What? Why? I was really really excited when I read that they were going to replace the xp bar with a mastery bar. I’m still really excited. So gaining xp is no longer going to be a pointless incidental thing that happens while playing the game… I can’t wait.

Just for this thread I logged in on each of my characters so I could add up my unused skillpoints. As of right now, I have 2310 skillpoints across all characters, and an additional 1236 in scrolls. 3546 skillpoints on my account right now. What the ffff am I going to do with 3546 skillpoints? I looked into converting them to gold of course but it’s very tedious. The only recipes worth anything are slow moving (risky) high end items, or upgrading low end crafting materials at 1/10 of a skillpoint per forge. Yuck. No. I’d rather do pretty much anything else. I made four legendaries and 3 sets of ascended armor and many ascended weapons and unlocked every skill on 8 characters and I still have 3546 skill points left over. It’s a little excessive. Just a little!

One thing I wonder is if the mastery points will be retroactive, so if you already did map completion before the expansion will you have to do it again to unlock that point? What about personal story? Jumping puzzles? With what was said in the presentation about having old and new players on equal footing it doesn’t seem like they will want to dump a huge load of mastery points on everyone who has completed large chunks of the game… plus it would mean less to do for experienced players.

I really hope you don’t think that your situation is the average situation…

Anyway, what I think will happen is this: people that don’t have HoT, will have either an empty bar that won’t fill up or it will fill up but the reward from a full one won’t be usable (but I think the first will happen).

And all across the game, be it core or update maps, there will be alternative ways of getting skill points, available to everybody who can reach that content.

Selling on the LFG

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

What you’re suggesting would create havoc on the TP. How would a cap be determined? By how much gold a player possesses? Many players have guild banks and can just hide their gold there. They will then be free to place sell orders at whatever price that they desire as well as re-list without penalty. And this is just the beginning.

There would be ways to solve that too. Only activate the return button (or however it’s called) if the full listing price has been paid. Or bind an event to that button to let the seller pay for the remainder of the listing price if it wasn’t done in full.

I was hoping this thread would’ve been something about giving them another use or something like mawdrey

There already is the Star of Gratitude (link below) is another use for them. As for a lack you could always just part a level 80 character (or a few) at the end of a jumping puzzle and vola you get a few every day.

PLEASE after completing the world map with at least 1 character make it payable or something for eth next characters. Doing every map again and again makes you feel very tired. Please do something about it.

Completing is neccessary if you intend to craft a Legendary weapon. Depending on how much you want to craft, I’d say you need more completion. If you don’t planning on craft a Legendary at all..why bother?

You can even craft two legendaries from one completion…

so if you dont want a legentary weapon you just dont complete the map? what logic is that. completing the world map is a must if you want to participate in every event and world bosses

There are 26 world bosses + temple events. Which means you’d need about 26 (more or less) WPs. There are over 500 WP’s counting for the world completion.

Also, there are over 300 hearts, 700 POI’s, 200SP’s, and 200 Vistas required for world completion. Which most certainly are not required to participate in any event and world boss. So, completing the world map is really not required if you don’t want a legendary, don’t care for the achievement (not even sure if it gives AP), but only want to go to every single event or world boss.

ANet has to see this and get it into the game, these panels are somewhat alot better, than the current versions, especially your redesign of the Hero Panel UI

I like some parts, but really don’t like the Hero Panel UI. Way too crowded for my taste. I think there’s way too much images on that screen. I couldn’t even find the weapons at first… The same with the Guild Panel. No need to show images per user, it only takes away readability.

I do like the story journal though and especially the lore journal. There, the images really make sense and make it come alive.

Trading Carapace Boxes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LadyRhonwyn.2501

LadyRhonwyn.2501

Frankly who cares? I certainly dont. Farming the crests is kitten-easy. Two nights of farming maps from foothold to vinewrath (couple hours each), and I’ve got 2k crests, even after spending close to 500 on keys and shovels. Imagine if someone decided to spend the entire day farming? You dont need to be able to trade in the boxes when it’s easy to get them. And to be honest, the only people who’d want that ability is if they cant play long enough to get other pieces, and can only spend 20-30 minutes chest hunting.

So, because you have the time to farm for a couple of hours each night, you think it’s easy. I think there are a lot of people around that have a full job, a family life and not so much free time to farm. For those people it would most certainly be helpful if they could exchange the boxes.

I personally wouldn’t care if I could exchange them for crests or even another type of box. Let’s say I have 3 glove boxes, and need a boot box and a legging box, why shouldn’t I be able to exchange 2 of those glove boxes for a boot and a legging box?

Your personal favorite & least favorite class

Favorite is elementalist. It’s what I wanted to play in Guild Wars very badly but didn’t manage, somehow ended up being a ritualist instead. Found that staff ele is a beautiful thing in Guild Wars 2. Still interested in dagger ele as well since daggers, how cool is that. Just never managed to play my dagger eles very much.
I adore elemental magic because Final Fantasy games. First GW characters were necro and ranger though, ele attempts only happened when I picked the game up couple of years after buying it and not really playing very much at first.

Least favorite: Warrior. I… don’t like heavy armor. Or close range combat which is an image I get when I think about warrior even though I know about the longbow. Don’t like many 1H weapons either…
Guardian isn’t here only because I needed a heavy armor wearer for some sylvari cultural I liked, guard was better option for me than warrior.

I hate the staff elementalist, it’s the surest way to die for me. Daggers is better, but I generally don’t like the class.

I like warrior and ranger best, with necro following close behind. I use the ranger mostly for mid-ranged combat and the warrior when I feel like smashing things (axe + torch on ranger, sword + axe on the warrior)

Heavens forbid that someone is scrounging to pay for a vacation for their family on top of paying their taxes and real world bills.

LS always start on Tuesdays. So, even if you must take a 2 week holiday away from home, chances are that that starts on Saurday till Sunday. Which leaves the first workday after the holiday to log in for 10 seconds and get the unlock.

But, the greater chance is, if you really can’t spare the money for 200 gems once a year, you probably won’t be able to go away from your home during that two week holiday.

Many orders were never filled or refunded, and only the lucky actually got their set in anything near the time promised. Mine came in eight weeks rather than four, and that made me supremely lucky. Subsequently the composer has called it quits with ANet and the OST simply is no longer for sale. What if they had the following choices for PvE which remained static (did not change each day):

  • Complete four events in a specific zone
  • Gather in a specific zone
  • Complete an explorable/story path in a specific dungeon
  • Complete a full fractal run
  • Daily activity participation
  • Defeat a specific world/temple boss
  • Defeat 50 enemies of a specific type (e.g. risen, krait, grawl, etc)
  • Complete three jumping puzzles
  • Complete a personal story instance

That’s nine choices for PvE when you had eight before.

Why not…

  • Complete five events
  • Gather a certain amount
  • Complete an explorable/story path in a dungeon
  • Complete a full fractal run
  • Daily activity participation
  • Defeat a world/temple boss
  • Defeat 50 enemies
  • Complete three jumping puzzles
  • Complete a personal story instance

Oh, those were the old dailies…

Why the constraints? Why not let the people decide for themselves where they like to play?

Also, the old system sometimes gave you “Maguma Event Completer” or “Shiverpeaks Event Completer”. You can’t blame just the new system for expecting you to figure out where Maguma is.

No, but the old system gave you an option to do something else instead. I almost never did those event dailies because I never came across enough in my playtime. But that didn’t matter, as I’d have 6 or 7 others to choose from (not counting the PvP and WvW ones). Today is one of those days that simply is not worth the trouble. Southsun events? Maybe if you’re lucky and are online for the karka queen event. Maw? Maybe if you’re lucky and are online at the right time. Whoops, that’s 2 of 4. And you need 3. Hmm, WvW then? I could try to put my loathing of PvP aside (and despite what some people say, WvW = PvP) Oh wait, the entire area is green. No blue or red sentries, no blue or red keeps, no blue or red camps. So, that’s not going to happen either.

How GW2 does? I don’t know. We will need to compare it to other game to really know. But you can’t just assume that the game don’t keep its player base because about 50% of their player only play through the story and dungeon only once. That’s what most ppl do in most of their games.

MMOs, in general, don’t see rising populations over time. But it feels like, with the number of sales we’ve seen especially, ArenaNet is making a strong push to add more players. This is happening because ArenaNet has concluded that the game NEEDS MORE PLAYERS.

I’m not necessarily trying to make a point here, I’m just trying to remind everybody: the NPE, the new dailies, the log on rewards, the Living Story… the entire point of these things is to encourage players to keep the game installed and to jump in from time to time.

Making the game worse wont bring any new players in and will only scare away people who liked how the game was…

They seem to think that they do make a better game for new players and don’t care for the current ones.
