There is no speculation as I stated before and provided a Link to. On Multiple occasions Anet has Officially stated they want people to show a mastery of all of GW2.

Then, what is required from sPvP for a legendary?

Weird. I haven’t received any gift yet.

It will only appear on a character that is 5 years old today. If a character is created later than 5 years ago then it will appear 5 years from that date.

Character specific appear in the mail. The single account birthday gift will be a pop up box.

The game opened on august 25th, for the pre-orders (28th for the rest of the world), not august 24th. So, they’re a day early.

Leap year messing up the birthdays. The game only tracks 365 days per birthday.

That happened with my gw chars too. Their birthdays are a couple days off now.

Hmm, I must not have been paying a lot of attention then to my birthdays, as I thought they were on the day again this year…

(I did create a character on leap day last year, but as I wasn’t around this year, I don’t know what day exactly he got his birthday gift :p)

The pattern is, that there are achievements for characters below level 80 and achievements for characters level 80.

They are marked with min and max level in the API

And achievements for those that have HoT and those that don’t.

As soon as you say “I don’t care if I win, I just want the dailies” the correct response is that you should no longer have incentive to play PvP at all. In a competitive game mode against other players, the goal should always be to win and the reward structure should reflect that. As soon as that isn’t the case, the mode is lost.

An equivalent scenario is expecting to be rewarded in a soccer tournament by sitting on the bleachers and touching your foot to a ball once every minute.

If I have 3 horrible PvE dailies (and yes, those days have been there already) and I have to chose between them and losing some PvP match (as I can’t do them in my private arena anymore I’ll have to do some ranked game), I’d rather pick the latter. I really hope there are some “hardcore PvP’ers” in that group as I’ll be very helpful at losing said game.

Not sure if someone suggested or is it gonna be adde bu regardless i will suggest. So would it be too much to add boosters in there?

Here are some notes on how we chose what:
• No Boosters, Tonics, Foods (general food consumables not the core cooking ingredients), utility buff, and potions. Just no. Seriously. There are way too many and there is a whole host of reasons why you just get a no.

Guild Hall Crafting.

Okay, this is the second time in 24 hours that someone posts something about guilds/guild halls that confuses me.

No one ever explained those things to me, so I am curious:

  • How can Luck be used for GH crafting?? (I crafted a lot already and have not stunbled across any such mechanic.)
  • How can Tomes of Knowledge be used for the benefit of guilds? (Someone posted this last night, but didn’t respond to my question.)

There are some guild hall upgrades that require Luck and Tomes.

But that remark is pointless, naturally, once your guild hall is maxed out. While we were building our Hall, the Tomes (especially) were filled up completely before you could blink…

Amazing list, will certainly be an increase in QoL. A thought, is it possible to make our bank tabs moveable like our inventory storage? As in we can drag and reorder the bank tabs vertically?

Either that, or let us hide some of them semi-permanently. We can hide them, but if you close and re-open storage you’ll see them again. And with this new list, there are some tabs I don’t need to see, ever (actually, all three new categories…)

Thanks for taking this up Linsey!

I would love to see all of these in storage, but if I had to choose which items to eliminate from your long list, these are what I would choose to NOT make it into storage.

Rare Crafting Materials The ones I left below can be eliminated IMO because those that you buy for the MF, you usually know mostly what you need and can buy exact amounts. You don’t have to have them in storage. Others are things you manufacture or can spend easily enough. All a very situational and don’t need to be included IMO.
Mystic Crystals
Philosopher Stones

These two you cannot buy exact amounts (which is why I left them out of my list).

Ascended Materials Same as rare crafting mats above
Lesser Vision Crystal
Vision Crystal
Gemstones and Jewels

Lesser and normal Vision Crystals are drops from some achievements, and from bags. You cannot control getting them. Same for gemstones and jewels.

All the others, I couldn’t agree more with you.

It is deeply disturbing that the game can just randomly send people in-game mail at all, nevermind also randomly disabling things on your account.

It did not do those things “randomly”, it did those things very deliberately.

Also, it did them in error, and probably shouldn’t have, but that doesn’t make it random, just wrong.

It did seem random to me… I got three accounts, two with a GWAMM and a 50-point HoM, one without a GWAMM and a 30-point HoM
From the 30-point HoM and one of the 50-point HoMs were the achievements removed. Then why not from the second 50-point HoM?

But that was the 9th. Today is the 11th. And I got that mail somewhere around 18:00 my time (so, that would be around 09:00 Anet time). It also happened two accounts, one that has multiple GWAMM’s, and one that has none (but does have a 30-point HoM). Both accounts had lost the HoM achievement points. I tried logging in into my main one in GW1, but I also got that err42…

There’s a difference. If I want to craft an axe, I need ores. But to get those ores I need to go out in the world to get them (or buy them from the TP, but that goes for about everything, so I’ll ignore that for now).
Now, if I need to craft some nice soup, I need roux. I can stay at my crafting station to craft that roux (provided I have enough of the base materials stored).

Okay. Now compare that not to ore, but to ingots. Don’t you see some similarity now?

Yes. And were they not in the material storage already, and in this given list, I’d probably also be against them being added, for the same reason I think other half-products should not be added. Only base materials (staples). There being only one exception: the half-products that can only be crafted once a day.

Naturally, that would have meant that recipes like Recipe: Gift of the Moon, but also things like Bloodstone Bricks would have been different. So it does make kind of sense to add a few half-products to the list. But I simply see no sense to adding some half-products that will be hardly ever used (again, how often do you craft a T1 or T2 patch/dowel, once you’ve maxed your crafting profession?)

Amalgameted gemstones yes, but don’t really need the doubloon’s but am fine if you do.

Why the gemstones, but not the doubloons? Especially the doubloons should have an inventory slot as they are drops from the game.

You can get Gemstones from the meta events in HoT as drops via event rewards.

I know, but I wondered why Odin didn’t want the doubloons in there, but did want the Gemstones… (I’d like both!)

I disagree with you. These items are essentially base tier mats for these professions due to how many recipes use them. Its not as if they are used in 1 or 2 recipes and that’s it, they are used in almost everything you could want to craft. In light of that, your argument is very similar to saying

If you gather 250 mithril ore, use them! Otherwise don’t gather it till you want to use it. It doesn’t need to go in mat storage.

Because both mithril ore and these items are used in a huge number of recipes in their respective disciplines. Even though these are crafted, they are essentially base tier ingredients/materials for these disciplines, and should be treated the same as the other base tier ingredients/materials.

I would agree with them if the crafting change hadn’t been applied some time ago (the one that lets you craft sub-sub-sub recipes by going deeper into the tree)

The one ingredient that doesn’t fit that is the kind that is only available from local merchants (think the staples such as salt). But as you buy them in packets of 10, you’d be stuck with 9 of them if you only needed 1.

And saying that it helps with discovery while leveling the crafting, then why not add everything? I know soups that you craft at lvl200 which are also an ingredient for a lvl400 recipe. And ask yourself, how often do you craft a T1 dowel once you’ve leveled the profession?

Well, I don’t care much about unobtainable items, however the thread is about obtainable but hidden from the wardrobe items that if you don’t know about them, don’t show up until you accidentally do the content or get the item that unlocks them.

Which is a silly system.

There are a few head skins, mostly Black Lion Store items, 2 shoulder skins, and one entire armor skin (Glorious Hero’s, which is gained in PvP). And in the Heavy Armor line, the Revenant stuff is also HideIfLocked.

In the weapon’s wardrobe, there are few too, most importantly the Crimson Assassin skins (from SAB). There are few tridents, harpoon guns and spears too, I don’t think you can still get them… And the Caladbholg skins are also locked.

Why doesn’t this:

No Instant Repair Canisters, Bank Access Express, Trading Post Express, Merchant Express, Revive Orb. Please just use these.

also counts for:

• No “components” has been my go to up til now but you will notice there are a bunch of things here that might be called “component”. The ways I softened but did not eliminate this rule is two fold: 1) allow a second tier of refinement like dowels and patches which are used cross discipline, 2) allow a number of scribing and cooking components that feel very core to the disciple and are used over and over throughout but did not have OTHER components in their ingredients which are also being added to storage (eg no herbed stocks because base stocks go in).

I’d say: if you craft 250 roux’s: use them! Otherwise, don’t even craft them until you want to use them. Same goes for the items you can buy from the MF attendant: don’t buy them (they’re next to the MF anyway) unless you want to buy them. Which is rarely enough, for the majority of people.

My answer to all of this was to find a couple of friends. 90% plus of the hot maps can be done by a group of 3.

And this is the biggest problem I have with HoT maps.

I started playing GW2 because party play wasn’t required. Yes, you could make parties, but only because you liked the closer association that gave. Dungeons were the only place were parties where required. In all other areas you could do it alone. Having others around might have made it easier and more fun, but it wasn’t required.

Fast forward to HoT: parties are mandatory to even get the hero points, let alone events or most of the personal achievements.

I don’t have a lot of friends and I don’t want to always ask their help if I want to do something in HoT. They might be doing something else or just don’t feel like going to that one area/help with that one personal story bit.

This is far preferable to a hat on a bald head.

You keep saying that but I dont see anyone that’s bald. Or does your character have hair coming out her ears or something that’s now gone? Or are you talking about a possible beard that’s missing?

The hair is clearly going straight up the hat.

Simple as that.

I’m going to assume you’ve never actually looked closely.

Wizard hat from the back: female sylvari
Top hat, also removes hair.

As you can see there is no hair on the sides or back that’s being upswept under the hat.

And yes, I do have the Wizard hat and I’ve used it and was able to see that it removes the hair. There is no hair being upswept from the sides and back to be placed under the hat.

And the worst part? They already did that in GW1….

fix the HP system !

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: LadyRhonwyn.2501

LadyRhonwyn.2501

the current HP system in gw2 that requires players to join “HP trains” in order to gain Hero Points seems broken and unchallenging. players gain HeroPoints just for being part of a group and not for actually having skills in the game.

It requires no such thing. There are players who do these solo, for the fun of it.

HP trains exist for players with many alts, who find no fun in unlocking their N-th elite specialization, in the same way they unlocked the first N-1. They are simply an efficient way to do something you need to do before being able to play your character properly.

So, in essence: no thanks. The HP system is fine as it is.

HP trains exist for people who cannot solo champs. Not everybody can solo group events, you know? And those HP’s are horribly broken, I’ve been trying to get the HP’s in AB for 2 hours now, I’ve switched maps 4 times already because the map is empty. How am I to get those HP’s if nobody is around to help me? Do I really have to bully people into helping me?

Then the Charr one, most things are easy to get, but I had some difficulty in getting a good route after adding the Magic Lumber node (don’t remember what it’s called)
And my least favourite is the Norn one. The route is easy, but those HoT chests are horrible to get to. There simply isn’t a nice route that passes all nodes and chests that doesn’t require backtracking.

Oh, I believe there’s also a sylvari instance… I entered there once and completely ignored it ever since. I couldn’t even find the nodes!

Reading this thread, I couldn’t help but chime in about jumping and reaction time, etc.

Internet speed and lag do affect performance, of course. Your computer and age can be a factor sometimes, too. I started playing this game 4+ years ago on a MacBook and I’d be lying if I said that building a gaming computer didn’t have any effect on my jumping abilities. I get the age thing, too, because I’m over 50. I don’t sPvP because I can’t go head-to-head with the reaction times of young brains.

that being said

The two things that totally changed my jumping puzzle abilities even on my old computer were making sure I was steering with my mouse and, most crucially, turning down the rotation speed in my game settings as low as it would go. My precision and control improved immediately. After that, it was just repetition to figure out the flow and patterns.

That’s what I have by default. And it still took me an entire game day to get to that last shop.

I don’t mind having to jump on that exact pixel or die, as actually jumping on that exact pixel and then still die because the game thinks you landed somewhere else. Those rocks in that narrow corridor were actually the point where I just went on simply because I wanted the achievement. Not because I liked it, or the challenge. At that point it just became me against the server and internet connection. And not me against the environment.

Nah, it’s not hard to get to.

It is. I think I blew about 100 lives even trying to get that shop (that coin really was handy last year…). Tribulation Mode is not for everybody. And this means that a majority of people won’t be able to get furniture tokens for their bubbles.

only 100 deaths, that cost nothing but gave you the ability to buy more furniture coins.

Pretty sure we can call that not hard. Oh sure you went through a learning process and died but it literally involves minimal combat, and just learning patterns. If that’s considered hard by game standards i fear we’re regressing.

Not everybody has the reflexes they had when they were 20, or the perfect internet connection that is required for some of the jumps. I couldn’t do any tribulation the first time it was introduced, as my ping was regularly in the 200s. Should I have moved my house so I could have a more stable internet connection as well?

It might come to a surprise to you, but people have different strengths. Mine isn’t twitch playing. So, yes, I found it hard. Maybe you find it easy, but I find it hard, annoying and absolutely not worth the repeat.

Again, that’s what happens when you ask your designers and programmers to focus more on an expansion.

Cuts have to come from somewhere.

True enough. What is more important, additional content in a game mode that’s only around for 3 weeks out of the year or work targeting Fractals, LWS3 and a future expansion? It’s about priorities.

To be honest? Fun content that is only around for 3 weeks of the year. It brings fun to a game, and a smile to faces. It shows that there may be more important things to life than simple work. Pleasure is also a very important part of the mix.

If anything, Guild Wars has turned way too serious the last years. A good April Fools joke gives something to simply laugh about. No strings attached.

If only it would take dev attention from raiding! Every time I read about an update for those raiding things, I wonder if they really have nothing better to do. Like adding content that everybody enjoys, instead of a few privileged few.

There are other minis that make sounds, some backpacks even make sounds. Do you want those removed as well?

And thirdly, immersion. For me, those silly huge wings, that can’t be folded back when you’re not in the air just don’t make sense. Every parachute, every wing, everything but a fixed wing gets folded in one way or another. But not in GW2. I call that immersion breaking!

I like the spark quests, the most of descriptions for the shards I couldn’t place and the last fight is horrible. How am I supposed to dodge that first attack (where you must dodge about 20 small attacks and cannot dodge out of the way as it will go in a circle)?

Should ANet change the Floppy Fish?

This fish crystallized what I had in my mind some time already: we need to be able to select an above-water mini and a below-water mini (just like ranger pets). Then everybody can buy a fish like this, even if they feel it’s cruelty to put it above water. Simply select it as an underwater-mini!

Don’s use complex passwords. Use good passwords. NEVER save them, anywhere, EVER.

https://xkcd.com/936/

If I wouldn’t save my passwords, ever, I’d only be able to use simple passwords, and the same everywhere at that… And unless you only play from a shared PC, you can safely put it in the shortcut. Or check the “remember my password” option at the login screen.

As a matter of fact, I don’t know my GW2 password at all. It’s nicely stored in a password application so I can make a ridiculously long password without the need of remembering it.

Episode 4 release time?

Sorry, I don’t think there are any plans to release the update notes until the update is live. But honestly, kitten -l-o-w-l-y as the forums are loading, they may not bear the additional strain brought about by offering a preview!

As we’ve said, there was an outage yesterday and we’ll have the release of Episode 4 and all the other update goodness out to you as soon as we can.

You actually had snow! Now I’m doubly disappointed…

Yes, I’d love a second and third skritt! And the solar tools as well.
But maybe we’ll get another zodiac sign tool next year (either axe or pick) and the third the year after :P

Solution:

I just stopped collecting minipets

Only getting the few ones i actually really like now

Best thing about it:
Not single gem wasted on Gemshop Minipets since my decision

If Anet doesnt allow us to work for our Minipets and get them through hard work/skill then they dont deserve any gem
RNG minipets could even be okay… if it wasnt RNG + Timegated

Mostly this. Except I will buy a mini from the gemstore if I really want it. But I won’t get BLKs just to maybe, if I’m very lucky, get a mini. Especially as they decreased the amount of things you can get from a key (before you always got 3 items, and if there was an event, an event item).

Sorry to tell you this (new dyes)

You can preview all dyes in-game by checking ‘show locked’ in the dye menu. So if anyone wanted to see how it compares to other black dyes they can do that before buying it.

Meh, I will never understand this obsession with black dyes, they are so boring.

It depends what you do with them. I agree it’s boring if you just dye your whole outfit black (and I say that as someone who often wears all black in real life), but if you use them with other dyes it can look really good.

It can also not be boring if you dye your whole outfit. I got one character who has 3 different kind of blacks on her armour, even her greatsword is black (Belinda’s Greatsword). It just fits with her character.

For the rest, I really like a black black on things like boots…

Probably a stupid question: but what is multi-looting?

In the topic of this thread, it’s when players hop between completed instances of AB in order to loot the large chests that contain a guaranteed rare. Players can earn dozens of rares this way which them salvage into ectos.

Ah, thank you.
