Remember Shiro boss in GW1? 2006 Game (before all the nerfs)? You couldn’t just stack and face roll your buttons. The boss actually moved, switched targets, dealt massive damage, used blocks, ect. In GW2? 2012 game? Yes. It’s astonishingly bad.

Unless you were an ele which would roflstomp him in a couple of seconds. People were paying serious money to eles for that service.

Really don’t get why people would pay for that when anyone could take him out in a couple minutes with the standard henchmen.

I usually don’t join groups looking for certain classes cause these wannabe speedrunners always think they are God’s gift, and flip out over the smallest thing. It’s not fun. Any class combo can do the dungeon good enough for a pug… As long as everyone is wearing zerk gear of course. I kid, I kid… except not really.

But I generally don’t join those groups either, mainly because in my experience the no req groups are full of experienced zerkers anyway. Just nicer, more relaxed ones, who can laugh off the occasional snag.

The only elite armor I really loved in gw was the Ranger obsidian armor. Was annoying to have to grind it for the monument point, but then once I had it… Oh man it looked so good. I played ranger a lot more after I got that armor.

Overall I prefer the gw2 armor. More choices, more fun. Dye options are better. Not limited to only a few sets per class. I spread my required sets of gw1 elite armor out on different characters and it was hard to decide which set for each… But this was NOT because I liked so many of them. Really the opposite… Most are either boring or ugly imo. Lots of nostalgia in this thread.

They are doing their best at anet. I really do believe this, and I’ve never gotten an amazing drop either. Best would be a pet from trikey chest, now worth like… 6g.

Pre crafting would make more problems than it would solve. This is just sensible. Look how much prices have been going up only due to the skin update, and I don’t only mean the precursors. T6 going up, lodestones going up. They even changed champ bags to drop more T6, and prices are still going up. If anyone could get a precursor for less money/effort than it currently costs, the other things would spike way out of proportion.

I’m not saying I like the system as is. Just that it isn’t really fixable within the current game and changing it will take a long long time. They are starting with a gold nerf, which people aren’t really feeling yet. Probably take months before they can collect all the data, analyse it, and make their next move.

You already know the answer, you just don’t want to hear it.

Never bothered with wurm because I was waiting for people to finish working out all the strategies and junk, and now? Needs more nerf. Did tequatl today and it was great, even better than I remember. Everyone and I mean everyone knew what to do, and played their roles like clockwork. Then I went to wurm. Clusterkitten kittenbomb. I’ll try again in another two months when I’ve forgotten how much I didn’t enjoy that.

CC has nothing to do with your gear choice in PvE. Defiance is not broken. You just don’t understand it apparently. You can remove it. Good groups do remove it. You can remove it in your cleric’s gear the same way players in zerker gear can remove it.
… If you don’t spam CC skills for no reason and get the boss to 18 stacks of Defiance and actually take the time to coordinate and time your CC to interrupt attacks, you will find that it’s very useful in PvE.

does anyone actually do this? Yes I know it’s possible. It just isn’t very practical in any situation I can think of, other than that one guild bounty where everyone who knows what they are doing spams knockback and hopes it gets through all the idiots spamming every skill they have.

Why would it be bad if karma armor was just normal armor? Does linen really need to cost 6silver/scrap? The situation with badge armor is even worse because it costs gold as well as badges.

and one more with 93%. Almost there, and if they didn’t get a star next to their names after doing it I wouldn’t be bothering. It bugs somehow being the only one in a group without a star, which happens more than you might think.

I thought that was what the bank was for? Waypoint to a bank. Drop the armor off in the bank. Switch characters. Grab the armor. Done.

I can see the desire for bags to contain the items that are account bound and it’s a pure convenience request however as it is not something that you would do extremely frequently.

Several times a day doesn’t count as extremely frequently? I would put my infinite gathering tools and salvage golem in that bag, things I otherwise need to waste time swapping around every time I feel like playing a different character for a bit.

In the original guild wars, you can still get all event special skins by just waiting for it to come around again. For example if you want the wintersday hat from 2009, you have to wait until wintersday this year, do… something and then you can pick any hat you want. They only introduced this system after they’d pretty much given up on the game however and stopped releasing new items.

Now that everyone knows what skins they missed with the locker, maybe we’ll see some system here to get old skins before GW3 is released. Or maybe not.

I did it once and haven’t been back. I’d like to go finish the achievements but a bunch of them have to be done after the dungeon is technically sort of ALREADY FINISHED. So people who are experienced aren’t going to want to bother doing those parts, just hanging out in there even longer for no extra reward. That is what happened the one time I did it actually. Got to the “end” and half the group left. Seems like more trouble than its worth.

I’d play as centaur or tengu. Or quaggan or skritt.

The speedboost for engi is locked behind fgs completion? That seems a little harsh. I’ve been leveling a thief and is not been so bad. Though I did have to use quite a few of my scrolls to unlock his speed signet, that is not something new.

It didnt seem to be part of the MegaServer a couple hours ago. I was trying to do an event to get a trait for my new character, but no one was there. So I went with the old guest on deso trick and voila… showed up to a half dead champ and got my trait.

Yep, Just buy gw1 and eotn. It should only take a few months to get all 30 points for all the items.

It took a few months to get 50 points. Started in January, finished a couple weeks ago.

If you only need 14 points for the skin that is very easy. Gw1 is harder to get into than gw2 imo, it is a lot more complicated, but you really don’t have to know what you are doing at all to get 14 points.

If you do decide to go through with it I have some advice. Someone said play through prophecies. Don’t. This was my second run at the game and the first time I started with prophecies. I gave up really fast and didn’t touch the game again for months. Get factions, make a ritualist. Look up spirit spam on the wiki. Look up everything on the wiki. The wiki is your very best friend.

No. The character I started 2 days ago is already level 52. :-x just can’t justify wasting any resources on gear when they outgrow it so fast. I’ll buy him something pretty when he hits 80… or plunder it from an underused character now that ascended gear is transferable.

I can’t find the option to turn off not seeing other languages in chat. I looked in general options and chat options.

Already started. Honestly don’t like it any better than pre patch. Up to 38, used a scroll, played around a bit in the starter zones and then zerged around in eotm. That’s over for now though because we are green this week and a lvl 38 character can’t do enough damage to get mob credit in that zergfest.

Maps are not as fun as they could be due to the MegaServer issues. It’s either empty still or full of people whining about what language others are speaking. I’m tired of hearing the same complaints over and over.

I’ll keep my zerk gear, but would like the chance to respec my assassin gear.

I don’t get posts talking about risk of damage focused gear. What risk? When fighting ai the risk is low. When I go down I don’t think, dang, wish I had more toughness. I think, oops, missed a dodge. I used to have balanced gear. Switched to damage during Queens Jubilee and would never go back. The difference in survivability is minor, the difference in speed of killing things is enormous. They’d have to remove crit entirely to get me to use another stat.

Now, the Caledon wurm? THAT was a fun fight. Got the wurm down to about 50% at 8 minutes with 15 people fighting him, guess what, we didnt kill the first husk fast enough. Know what happened? Wurm said “kitten you guys, I’m healing back to 100%.” I walked away from the fight at that point. With the amount of husks he spawned and tried to eat before the patch, it was possible to burn through it’s healing, but now it’s pure idiocy to attempt that fight with no fewer than 40 people.

I killed it, only noticed one (vet) husk and it died after a few seconds attention from 2 people. I think there were 15-20 of us.

I assumed the new easily killed husks were meant to balance making it so much harder otherwise. The poison bombs, whatever else, people were getting downed all over the place. xD

I’d like to add another thumbsdown for the new strict timer. Particularly for karka Queen 3 chances a day is just lame. Never done wurm except once to get the “participation” achievement so don’t care about that, but I am disappointed that megaservers will be giving less shots at Teq instead of more. I have the title, but haven’t been doing it lately because it was so inconvenient with guesting and waiting around. So much for that.

I am totally disappointed. We now sit around doing nothing, waiting for the timer. I used to enjoy chasing after world bosses and can play without stop for a couple of hours.

Yeah, world boss change is the main thing from the update i don’t like. I logged in on my alt that just farms the Southsun chest everyday and saw PEOPLE. So jumped on my main, came back, freed the settlements and… nothing. Oh great, now that the event has a chance to function normally again, it just had to be changed.

i also escorted Brogan to the totem twice only to have him declare a great victory as soon as it was destroyed and go drink a beer. Why have the lead ups with no big event?

I dunno, made a new character yesterday and if anything he is easier to play than previous ones. Used an xp scroll so he is now level 22 in starter gear. So far he has done a jp, soloed a bunch of events, and duoed the champ hylek (had to res the other guy). My favorite moment was the veteran spider queen. Hit her group with shortbow 2 and all the babies died in one hit. Maybe it’s mostly experience but I really don’t find it harder now, and being able to get through just spamming sh 1 and 2 suggests it isn’t just me being awesome.

It’s scarlets aetherstation in space. Coming soon in season 2.

I’d be 100% happier if the categories were closed by default instead of open. It’s especially annoying to have to close them again every time I want to check back tab or collectibles.

Even ambient creatures have the bobblehead effect. Really pulled out all the stops on this one. xD

Just failed all Knights, had about 40 on each and they all had about 40% health left when the timer ran out. I remembered it being different before so checked the forums. Why on earth was it changed? It wasn’t like it was even THAT easy before. Never saw it succeed before patch, and now i doubt I’ll see whatever is supposed to come after. I do less than half the damage I should with the buff, and the extreme lag makes it impossible to dodge reliably which cuts down the dps even more.

I don’t know. Sometimes I watch cutscenes and pay attention to ambient flavor dialogues, but sometimes I skip or ignore them. I’d have to go with not so important. Though watching and listening has taken the lead on ignoring lately; I think the characters are growing on me. Kasmeer’s bear omg.

- Waste all your easily earned Karma on Orr Boxes.
- From 0 Karma now go accumulate an easy 1 mil Karma.
- Report back here when you have done so.

I did that. Spent ALL karma on boxes before nerf, took about a month to get back up to 1mil. Really don’t see the big deal with karma.

Thanks, I’ll file a ticket. The person is in my guild so I see the name pretty much every day in guild chat, and I’m not comfortable sharing a guild tag with it. Otherwise I would have probably forgotten about it by now, yes.

I used the ingame report function to report a name over a week ago and “ kitten ” is still running free. Do the people who check these reports only speak English or something? I tried switching to the german client to make the report but it didn’t seem to make a difference. There is no way to explain why the name is inappropriate (or even which character) when making a report. Is there an email address or different report form that I can use?

Really impressed by how much faster everyone is getting this as opposed to tequatl. It also seems a lot more forgiving… we had several (like 5??) fails on severing, but apparently you get to try again if everyone does a good enough job defending.

I also got the special dodge achievement for my lane. The lightning one… I believe it looks like solid red circles and is dead easy to dodge. Sorry if I’m wrong, that might have been something the champ was doing. Hard to tell where whatever is coming from.

It’s hard. Got my new mesmer up to 41 now. 20 level scroll plus 11 tomes. The issue is I’m just dying to finally get to the point where he has his endgame armor so I can slap some runes of speed in there and really start having fun. And I thought leveling guardian was bad! Mesmer is the worst for snailing around. His in combat running speed makes me want to – yes, indeed – slap a hundred babies.

1. Find a build that is currently in the meta (these can be found on every classes sub-forum)
2. Try out the build in a 5v5 hotjoin
3. Make sure to know all of the classes roles, and certain sayings.

This right here. Why should I have to grind up to a FoTM build? Why can’t I just play the way I am and be effective? Because minmaxers, that’s why. Once gear becomes irrelevant, I might think about any kind of PvP. Once I can buy that one copper piece sword from a vendor and go into PvP and be just as effective as everyone else….I might think about it.
In other words, remove all the aspects of PvP that make people spout the “LOL N00B” drivel. Level the playing field so someone that just started the game can be on equal footing as someone that’s played for the entire time the game has been released.

Basic gear in pvp is 100% free. You don’t have to grind anything but skins and finishers.

I don’t pvp. I don’t like it. BUT I will totally do it anyway if the rewards are good enough. I know they recently updated the rewards but before it was like, so if I do pvp I get rewarded by looking better when I’m doing pvp? Thanks but no thanks.

Hehehe… how many characters have I deleted after noticing after running around a bit that I’d accidently chosen the option for ghetto booty? Two or three. And one makeover kit. In the preview they look fine, but once the running animation kicks in…. daaaaaaaaaamn. xD

Now I always just choose the flattest behind possible when making a character and hope for the best.

I hope we won’t be able to create existing precursors. Especially Dusk and Dawn. Why? Because they have the most annoying animations in the game. Get into a mob of people and even if just one of them is swinging one of these around, it’s the only kitten thing you can see. Last thing we need is for them to be easier to get.

Another holiday jp that I’m probably just not gonna do. I made it past the presents twice and immediately got flattened by a snowball upon crossing that little bridge thing both times. Sent back to the start and just didn’t feel like trying again. Still more than a month to try, but I never did go back to the Halloween jp after the first week. Just not worth it.

You don’t need them all on one character for the first title. Actually it’s quite impractical to have them all on one character. And certainly not necessary for the current title. One thing I really like in this game is account wide bonuses, like being able to use every title for every character, and account bound crafted items that can be swapped around.

You get it from the tri key chest, which is still around in Kessex hills. But keys drop very rarely now, so you have to buy them. You can only buy one per day. And unless you want the achievement or are reeeeeeally desperate for dragonite, it’s not worth it for the price.

So is it time to sell the recipes I picked up when they were going for less that 1 gold each? Kind of wanted to use them myself, but the Bazaar will most likely be back before I get my ele (over a year old and still only lvl25) to 80.

Got it finally. Decided to give lfg one more try. Got lucky with the torches in that I was alone with mine, but the npc was following me and tanked the last ooze so I could light it no problem. Took 3 min. The rest was… painless? Up to the last boss which I enjoyed. So happy to have it done with.

Then later that day some people from my guild decided to try it. When I went to bed they had already been in there for about two hours and were stuck on the bombs. I don’t know if they finished it, haven’t seen any of the people in that group since. Maybe they are still in there…

I will take the initiative to speak for all casuals here: this does not appeal to us. We think it is silly and would never spend gold on achievement points when there are still so many minis we don’t have, and most of our characters are still running around with green backpieces and accessories. LAWL.

That’s why people think you must be trolling, man. This is really not something for casuals. Casuals are the 99% of GW2.

As for the X number of X achievements – they’re specifically there for you to accumulate over time. They don’t intend for you to stand there and grind through them. Achievements are a side aspect to playing the game – not the game itself.

Yeah, but when I just play the game normally, I very rarely have any reason to go to Kessex Hills.

People don’t like doing it because it’s not fun and even if you know what to do, you’re unlikely to find other people who also know. At least in lfg.

I didn’t bother with swamp fractal (which I actually think is easier than this because the demand for coordination isn’t so high – only have to time picking up the orb in chat and not time killing the last monster AND THEN say go on lighting the touch) but I’d really like to get this. Only dungeon path I haven’t finished.
