It feels like a step down compared to Halloween, mainly because of the avalanche of minor runes and sigils. I opened maybe 50 gifts and that was enough to never want to see any of those again. The only real garbage drop for Halloween was strawberry ghosts, but you got so much other stuff you barely noticed them piling up. It feels like every second gift has some minor trash in it.

I must have it. I have like 10k empyreal fragments burning a hole in my pocket. It sounds like it will probably be easier to get than Mawdrey II which is nice. I hope it won’t be a case of miss one day, lose your chance though.

What you (probably) need to do is go through the story, check your mail and follow the clues. Dulfy has a guide for the parts that have already been released. You can do one step per day, total number of steps is currently unknown.

Side note, I’m pretty sure people trying to get lore-appropriate Sylvari or Asura names must be tearing their hair out right now. :\

We will never run out of names for sylvari and asura because basically any random combination of letters with more or less appropriately placed vowels will do.

It depends on how accurate to the lore you want to be. Especially for sylvari whose names are usually Gaelic, old English or Welsh.

Sure you can create a random word that, to an outsider, looks appropriate. But for anyone who is familiar with those languages it would just look like a random jumble of letters, in the same way that Aningly looks like an English word, uses common combinations of letters and sounds but is also complete nonsense.

I don’t know anything about gaelic or welsh so I actually did think sylvari names were just random nonsense. I’m not sure what difference it would make anyway, since many names in any language don’t actually mean anything. Ok, yeah you can look it up in a book and find out your name “means” holy conquerer, but that doesn’t mean that anyone familiar with the language will know that.

I think it sounds good. Putting in a request for “daily overgrown grub kill” in the wvw category, as is the only trait that is too annoying to get because no one on my server kills the grub. Ever. I was in wvw once, we were matched against two weak servers, the commander said after we took all three keeps we’d kill the grub… of course he was “just kidding”.

The changes to the monthly are really good, because it has been just way too easy to get. I usually got it in the first couple days of every month.

To those who feel bad about this mission: what do you think about the renown hart that make you kill the dolyak calf mother in order to catch dolyak calf ?

You can dodge the mother’s attacks while catching the calf and then run away. I know they are just pixels, but that is how I do this heart.

Yes, I agree with the people who say the biggest problem is how dang stupid MY character’s reaction is. Like with the greatest fear storyline which has since been cut from the ps, you can bet that if I had actually been in charge here I would have said and done things very differently. Just taking the memory for what it is, I found it sad, and it was sad to play, and that was fine. To have my character then act like it was not really a big deal was terrible. I also dislike the snotty self-righteous dialogue options when taking to Canach. The player character is dumb as a brick, entirely immune to nuance, and sees the whole world in black and white. I don’t like playing this kind of character, particularly when it seems like character development is something that is just never going to happen. I understand that this is because the player character is 1. actually every single person who plays the game and 2. unnecessary to the story but has to be shoehorned in somehow, so the writers are going for “least personality possible” in the hopes that people will just fill in the blanks. I feel like I’m roleplaying as The Average GW2 Player, you know, the person who couldn’t understand what to do with all those trait points. It’s kind of icky!

Why on earth would you want to stay in the sell window when you already sold all of those items that you had? The way it is now is completely non-intuitive, no one is going to naturally click a button that says close when what they want to do is sell.

It also seems to have gone back to not automatically selecting the entire stack. How often does someone click on a stack of things to sell with the intention of only selling one of them? A lot less often than selling the whole stack, which should be the default instead of just one.

It was primarily the whole not wanting to be Caithe thing that got us to team up at all. It makes the extra playthroughs for the leg pieces go much faster. Particularly amusing was “Caithe” getting one shot at the beginning of the fight with the centaur boss and the other two finishing him off. And Canach wasn’t the only prisoner still alive at the end of the asura bit!

Class good at Greatswords??

Lalocat.6793

If the only time I play mesmer is open world, then it is a bit crazy to hear “don’t use gs”.

Every one of my characters that can use gs, does use gs. Damage on ranger is bad, but is made up for in utility (interrupts and mobility). On warrior you have good damage and mobility. Guard gs has everything. So yeah of all classes that can use gs mesmer is the worst (no mobility and not great damage)… but that doesn’t seem to be the point people are trying to make. It’s not like mesmer has any better weapons to fill that second slot. Using sword twice and just changing the offhand might max dps in certain niche situations (lol) but recommending it for anything other than organized dungeon running is silly and you’d just be crippling yourself. The lack of range is the big problem.

Of all classes I have at 80, mesmer is my least favorite. The “best” weapon, mainhand sword, is like you took thief mainhand sword and added cooldowns, removed the interrupts, and bugged out the teleport. I can’t help comparing the two when I play mesmer and there are no tradeoffs like in the gs comparisons above, thief sword is just better in every way. I want to like mesmer but compared to other classes I just don’t find it fun or effective.

The plight of a Jeweler

in Crafting

Grow lamp is crafted by jeweler, and also available for sale on the trading post. All the crafted things are available for sale on the trading post. Grow lamps are a bit more expensive because the time gating is 10 days (charged crystals) rather than 1 day for all the other recipes and heat stones are cheaper because a lot of people jumped at the chance to turn ascended mats into gold (result being zero profit in crafting and selling these).

I don’t understand the problem in the original post. You can also find a friend to craft it for you, I craft things for guild members if they ask.

I’m going to save this achievement until all parts are in the drop table in hopes of minimizing the number of times I have to kill those things. I haven’t done much in silverwastes tbh, but I only saw them die once (I got the tendon), and have seen 0 successful breaches with all bosses killed. I’m not crazy about the new zone, maybe it will be like Dry Top which I really only liked once it was a complete zone with all events available, and not just part of one with a handful of events like we (presumably) have now. Without the full design it isn’t that compelling.

I had to cut way on play time and find the super organized Dry Top most relaxing. Still having horrible luck with those kitten insects, currently at 50 lockpicks since the last time I got one.

I do daily crafting if I have the mats.

I check in on the temple events and do them if I find them (also check lfg if they aren’t up on my map).

I’ve been remembering the home instance nodes lately as well.

the reason i ask if that i have eight level 80’s, and 1 of them was camping a boss spawn in PvE to kill and hope to get a collectible. Its not my first, second, or even third main character so i only log into that toon to kill the boss once a day. After 2 or 3 days of doing nothing with that toon but killing that boss, i stopped getting the boss’s daily world boss chest and the corresponding boss chest that appears on the ground. All i get is a gold medal and loot from the boss directly, even if i’m partied up with others and they get the chest, but i dont. So i tried taking the toon into WvW, take a few camps, kill some yaks, cap some towers, actually played the toon for about 30-60 minutes “doing stuff” to try and reset my DR. next day, killed the boss again, still no ground chest or world boss chest. I had to bring another toon to that boss to kill him and got his dropped chest and daily world boss chest.

Whats a good, valid way, of reset your DR?

Rhendak the Crazed. That is just a bug, I have no idea what causes it but it’s quite common. I’ve gotten it multiple times, the only way I’ve found to get rid of it for a character is to get them off the map (taking them into wvw doesn’t seem to work).

I have chars parked in different maps at different events who haven’t left those maps for months in some cases and it only happens at Rhendak. It also takes a varying amount of time to show up, sometimes I get this bug after killing the boss twice, sometimes it takes longer. If I wait a day and try again, I still don’t get a chest.

At one point I had 3 characters parked at Rhendak, one got the bug and the other two didn’t after the same amount of time.

There is also a very frequent “bug” where the two NPCs you’re supposed to protect disappear (they reappear back at where they first started). This means they’re completely safe and you’re basically assured of getting the achievement.

I definitely had this bug, as the last fight was just a constant pile of bodies when I got this achievement. If they were there, they would have died along with the rest of us.

I heard that if the player character dies you won’t get it. This isn’t true.

The casual acquisition of a legendary

in Crafting

Posted by: Lalocat.6793

Lalocat.6793

Don’t even think about starting until you have the precursor.

I have one serious legendary and two casual ones. The reason I call the other two casual is because the pres for both were very cheap (<120g) so you really can work on it in a casual way, which is why I have them at all. Saving to buy a pre is about as much fun as saving for a big purchase in real life, and same as real life it gets less fun the lower your income is. Leaf of Kudzu was almost 1000g last I checked (yesterday), so that’s going to be a big fat grind.

So here’s my advice. Play the game normally. Make yourself a guild bank and use it to start a pre fund. Put as much money in as you feel comfortable with. If you get sick of putting money in, like you want to buy yourself something else, just leave it alone for awhile. Who knows how long this will take, but aside from converting gems to gold that seems to me like the best way to make this work. Don’t think about it too much, and don’t check the price too often, maybe every 100g or so.

Don’t sell anything you will need to make it later, cause it will basically always be a loss. Casuals can’t afford to just throw away money to tp fees.

It was ridiculously op before, as a channeled skill with multiple pulses (interrupts were basically useless) on a low cooldown. Making it actually interruptable would have been the change I expected (gives retal only at the end of the howl), not that I’m complaining. They are still bad enough with the leap skill that means they attack from behind no matter what direction you are facing. (Takes off ~70% of my health.)

From my experience with EU pugs, the low AP pugs there are exceptionally horrible. No english, no idea what they’re doing, aggro everything in 5k radius, and then cuss at you for not ressing…

Finally someone commenting who obviously (eu)pugs as much as I do. I used to not discriminate based on ap, but experience has taught me that ignoring this fast and easy check is the path to frustration.

Eu fractal pugging is hit or miss, finding “a” group for 10-29 is easy, but most days I check lfg a few times and than just don’t do fractals that day. Pugging fractals is much worse than regular dungeons because of the ar. A large number of people pugging fractals do not have enough for the level of the group they join, they either don’t know or don’t care. (“Well I don’t have enough relics to get more ar, but I don’t want to redo levels I already did! Onward!”) It sounds like it’s about the same in eu as in na. I don’t have experience with 30+ though so can’t comment on that.

My Greatest Fear Plotline

I didn’t like the greatest fear plotline. It seemed a bit mean to force you to choose something horrible, and then make it happen. I really can’t say I’m sad about not having to make that “choice” again. The first time through I was annoyed and mystified by the whole thing. I had Tonn, and as I remember it, he ran off alone (entirely unnecessary) and then just randomly turned up dead at the end of the instance. What. And then it was cutscene on cutscene criticizing my ability to lead, like I’d had any choice at all in how it turned out, and rubbing in the consequences of my “decisions”. Okay, if I’d had to choose between two npcs, and one died, okay, that’s one thing. This was just annoying.
