Haven’t seen any of these ingame, and frankly hope I never do. Brrr.
Most players should have ascended trinkets.
I doubt that very much. I don’t have all ascended trinkets even on my main despite playing a ton. I got the guild tokens ones, the amulet for the utility infusion, and that’s it. Don’t want to do fractals, and don’t want to blow my laurels. I can’t be alone in this.
I crafted 85 bricks before starting to just throw it away. I’ve used ten of them so far so still plenty in reserve.
Now that it’s over I’ve come up with my final answer: I like Tequatl and will continue to do it on occasion. Did it again today. It is much easier and faster now that the UI does not announce the encounter and bring a flood of clueless curious people into the map.
We got lucky… our dungeon-enterer simply logged out on the final boss, permitting us the chance to kill him with 4 people instead of the recommended 5.
Clockwork final boss is way too hard. Dodge gears fine, pull to hologram okay, but the instadown when you don’t drag/pull fast enough followed immediately by a spinning gear that gets you all the way dead is just too much. My group did eventually get it down but I can’t say it was fun.
I threw a wvw sword into the forge with some other stuff about a month ago. If they changed it I’ll be annoyed because that was the plan for when I replace my armor with ascended too.
Ruins had one evenings novelty, but became toxic as soon as I realised the rewards are useless and using my limited playtime on ruins drops one further behind the powercreep grind.
I tried it once but as soon as I saw that capturing a ruin doesn’t actually give you anything, I left and haven’t been back.
I’m looking forward to it. Only getting paired up against other people in bronze league is going to be a huge relief. Haven’t seen the 20% crafting bonus for like two months.
Never say never, but no time soon. The hard part for me is grinding all the gold for gift of fortune. I like ascended weapons (and will do the armor too when it comes) because you can just go and collect all the things yourself, which is what I like to do. But the thousands of bones, teeth, etc really only come from the TP. Grind gold, buy mats, grind gold, buy mats, grind gold, buy mats. Not fun.
I honestly prefer to remain ignorant of the numbers because I find when I know that stuff and am always trying to maximize my time to get the most money, I enjoy the game much less then when I just run around doing random things that I feel like doing at the moment.
Edit: Should add that I already have the precursor for the weapon I would make, if I made one. And I have everything else for it too – the dungeon tokens, enough ecto, world completion… just not the mats. It just wouldn’t be worth it to me to sink all that gold into it.

Actually second thought I’m glad I didn’t transfer before this happened. Before when I was going to a med pop server it would have been worth it. Now that the odds of getting in to WvW on that server have been drastically reduced and as the sale goes on the queue will just get longer and longer every day…. I’m just going to stay on my server, continue to ignore WvW, and continue guesting for world events.
I find the dungeons more than difficult enough with a fully leveled group. Doing them with underleveled characters just makes it worse. I have almost 6000 AP and have only “completed” (all paths) one dungeon. Only done half the story dungeons. Not a speed runner, not elite, but strongly prefer that everyone is at least level 80 if I’m going to muster up the effort to try get through a dungeon in this game.
People too lazy to use swiftness skills are buying them all up, and TP flippers bump the prices up accordingly.
Or rather tired of the terrible design that required you to run a 25% increase speed utility.
Not every class gets perma swiftness. I can honestly say this was a great design for the rune set, but as always tied to RNG. I have not found a single superior rune that wasn’t garbage since beta.
Not every class should get perma swiftness. What would be point of swiftness then? If you ask me there is already too much swiftness going around.
It’s a choice. Most classes can choose to give something else up in exchange for perma swiftness, the other 2 cannot. It’s not right.
I agree its not right. That is why i think maybe one or two classes should be able to reach near perma swiftness, not all but 2. Mobility should be luxury not given right.
But they run so very painfully slow without it. The game drags without that perma 25% boost.
Piken Square EU will be hit with a sledgehammer, WvW is shock full due to everyone and their grandma wanting to join it as a top tier server (3 hour queue to EB, yay), yet most of the time its only a “medium” pop server. Well hopefully it goes to high fast :/
Should have checked before posting, it probably hit high as soon as this was announced an hour ago.
The problem is it takes forever to get through each minion stage. Every invasion I’ve done since then required at least ten minutes to get the bar done, even with all the farmers killing them to get at the aetherblades. That’s 30 min per 45 min invasion just fighting those mobs, which I’ll admit I’m bored to death with anyway. No point bothering with it any more.

I missed it by an hour!!! Been planning to transfer servers, now the med pop I wanted is high pop and it will cost me 300 more gems than before. >:( Better transfer pronto before it goes to very high.
I was curious about this as well. My 80 never seems to get any drops in Orr and yet I figured that would be the place to get them the most. I might just be unlucky and I suppose I’ll just buy them later if I don’t have enough.
I get lots of drops in Orr, when there aren’t a million other people swarming the event and making it impossible to tag anything. Then I get nothing.
I did this once, maybe twice, and months ago. It was organized by other people and just happened to be going on when I was completing the map. iirc there is a random NPC that must be protected during the pre events. Protecting her isn’t an event and I don’t think there are any hints that you have to do it, but monsters spawn on her and if she’s down the event won’t trigger.
Where are people getting the idea that if there are not many people defending the turrets, the champions won’t spawn? It’s completely false. The last three times I tried it failed because of this rumor. The last time I just left before the fight even started because I knew it was going to be a waste of time.
Flawless defense is easy. There are only five simple rules.
1. Don’t fight the champions on top of the turrets.
2. Kill the fingers that spawn between the turrets as quick as you can.
3. Have some people assigned to repair the turrets when they inevitably take damage.
4. Don’t fight the champions on top of the turrets.
5. No, really, I mean it. Don’t fight the champions on top of the turrets. If you are defending the east turrets and not assigned to repair hammers, your place is in the reeds 15 feet away from the turrets. Stay there unless there are fingers or burn phase, as soon as Teq starts his waking up animation, run back. You shouldn’t even have to dodge the wave.
Every event people are still doing this and always lose a turret or two because of it. I got Flawless Defense because me and one other guy just stayed in the reeds the whole time and distracted them until the rest of the defenders noticed that the champs had spawned again.
I really hope so. Tried it once and it was ridiculous. Googled while still in the dungeon but sadly didn’t have the 1500 range trait available, so I couldn’t even try to solo it after everyone else left.
Go with 25. I’ve only used one so far (gone without so long I don’t even need them any more – yep I have a 80 level char in a 79 exotic chest piece) but feel good about having 24 in reserve.
I found out in map chat yesterday.
So tempted to get this for my – wait for it – necro. I don’t really play her enough to make it worthwhile… she is my second favorite though.
It’s fun the first time you beat him, but with crud loot there is no reason to join the fight again after you do all the achievements. Once other content updates roll in ppl will give up on him and it’ll be a dead event, like the old karka queen.
Karka queen actually gives better loot. I guested on a high pop server and did it yesterday for the first time since getting the southsun achievement for killing her. I was SO excited to do it again, no lie. And then the bonus chest had TWO rares! Red letter day.
Killed Teq three times, best loot was two rares. One from the daily and one from the chest. Twice I only got the daily rare.
I hope they are cool-looking. Don’t like the looks of the current legendaries enough to grind one out. This may sound like sour grapes, but the effects/animations are more distracting for me than anything else. Howler was at the top of the list before I found out about the irritating noises it makes. The ascended weapons on the other hand are gorgeous, and the only really painful part is leveling crafting to 500. So I made two, and will make more as I get the mats. I’d rather have full ascended weapons than one legendary + exotics…
If that one commander hadn’t spent 15 min before the fight screaming at people to get off the turrets and into dps group because we were a burden and ruining it for everyone, you wouldn’t have had that bonewall in first phase and it would have succeeded.
You are too far away from the wave. This was my last achievement and it took like four battles to get because I kept standing too far away. It will look like you’re jumping over the wave, you will see the wave, but it’s actually already gone.
Or you have to jump a little before it would hit you. Not sure if it’s lag or just the way it is, but you get knocked down before the wave hits.
He spawned. After 5min it was obvious we werent gona kill him. Got him to 60%. Had to wait an hour and a half for the next spawn. Again, after 5min obvious it was a bust, 60% again.
You know it normally takes half the time to get him to 75% right? If people are getting discouraged in the first five min, it won’t work. Happened in one fight I was in, we could have done it but after five min the commander who wasn’t with my group packed it in and abandoned the turrets they were supposed to be defending. So we failed. But if they’d just stayed there to the end, we probably would have won. It was actually going fine, I guess they just didn’t know any better. Or were trolling us.
If you mean after 5 min you’d had several bone walls and all the turrets were toast, okay. But it really is completely normal for him to still have a long seemingly insurmountable health bar after five min of doing everything right.
I haven’t given up, but I have to stop for two weeks cause my parents are coming for a visit and sitting around in TS for hours waiting for a dragon will be a no go. We’ll see if the event is still running when they go back home.
Drakkar See is dreadful. We can barely beat The Shatterer at peak hours since the update. Just failed on Shatterer. We had one banner…. of discipline… probably a hopeless case tbh. I would have transferred months ago if it was free (due to difficulty in finding a guild) but, well, that’s why it isn’t free.
(Now I’m starting to understand why it seems like people on this forum are so worked up and over-excited all the time. They are using completely normal words that get bleeped out! Edited to remove a “bad” word so I don’t look like I’m really upset about this.)

Honestly any job with a 25% speed boost would be worth playing
That would mean mesmer is the only class not worth playing. :p
I really want to play mesmer, but I’m so used to the boost that I found it really painful. Looked it up when I was level 7 or something, and deleted the character. Made a necro instead.
Res nearby people if down, run back if dead. If you are dead you should port away before anyone can even think about trying to res you.
I’m not necessarily complaining about this type of content, though it’s not really my cup of tea, I’m only annoyed by “omg I beat Tequatl, I must be the best player ever now” attitude.
I haven’t seen anyone like that. People who have beat him are generally surprised at how easy it was. You know, I didn’t do anything different in my success attempt as my fail attempts. I defended the same spot, with the same strategy. (Go to spawn, keep them away from the turrets.) The difference was there were other people fighting with me instead of, well, screwing everything up. It was a lot easier with 10-20 people who were more or less on the same page than it was trying to do it alone. (Kill the adds alone, pull them back from the turrets when other people pulled them into the turrets. Alone.) Which is most likely the whole point of this content. They want to put the guild back into Guild Wars.
Other than this one fight, having a guild is pretty much pointless. I’ve joined a few, the only one that was active enough to bother with made TS mandatory at all times when in game and I had to quit.
When did they fix it? We got it last night. (~10 hours ago) I was surprised because I knew that none of the turrets on my side went down, but in ts it sounded like the other side was having trouble. Also I did think that was going to be the hardest one to get. At 6/10 now. That was my first kill.
Can’t speak for the other side, but what helped us was having people on eastern turret defense go to the krait champ spawn before they spawned. Sometimes it was only me and one other guy getting our faces bashed in while everyone else focused down the champ we already had (ressed him from downed state so many times) but none of them made it to the turrets.
(edited by Lalocat.6793)
The second guild TSS still has less than 300 members so send a whisper to the OP.
It goes way smooth when people don’t fight the krait right on top of the turrets. I was in one of the successful overflows, we got him with less than a minute left on the clock due to screwing up the first DPS phase. I believe the majority of us had never done it before. I sure hadn’t.
128 members collected by the time KehxD logged out, but 8 of them are on NA servers and don’t count.
Edit: And 15 outstanding invitations

It’s 00:04 and he’s not there. O_O
Edit: Aaaaand I lost connection to the game server and can’t log back in.
I used this website. http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/gmt-plus-2/ Countries listed: Botswana, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo (part), Ethiopia, Lesotho, Libya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe shrug
Guess I will log in and see if he’s around…
Oh and ofc… Do you mean GMT+2 The timezone, or GMT+2 the time? Because those are diffrent things
like right now, it’s 22:06 in GMT+2 time, but 23:06 in the GMT+2 TZ
…wut.
OK so I googled it and that “GMT+2 TZ” is only used in a bunch of African countries. Pretty sure he means the other one. (The one where it is 22:37 now.)
The game gives the message to several other people at the same time. The one who clicks fastest gets the spot.
If I have to stay up until midnight to get a spot in this guild that is what I’m going to do. I’m online pretty much all day right now (vacation) so I have time to work on it but with strangers in overflow it’s hopeless.
When you create a Queue system in place to travel people properly to the main server. Make sure it actually works?
My record: I got thrown over 12 overflows, then i decided the game is trolling me and went doing something else.
They aren’t all different overflows. It’s the same few over and over. I know this because with that travel dialogue popping every minute or so, I parked myself at a rich platinum vein which respawned in each new overflow. Only got 4-5 whacks at it before I got cycled back into overflows I’d already been in.
Speak for yourself. I don’t play SAB because it isn’t fun. I wouldn’t be surprised if they the majority of GW2 players felt the same as myself.
I did World 1 normal and then World 2 in Infantile Mode, which is as far as my skill and patience goes… but it WAS fun. Lots of fun. In World 2 I completely lost track of time and only remembered I was supposed to meet someone when I noticed it was getting dark (very unlike me). Because it was fun.
Though that it takes so long to get through even on infantile mode is why I haven’t been back. I had to use continue coins to finish, which wasn’t a big concern because I don’t need them for anything else, but the idea of trying to get through on normal was just too much for me.
(‘m not even that terrible, I’ve got all the achievements for the regular JP in the game… though I cheated on two of them.)
100% support. World boss rewards if you’re on your server only….the guesting feature was designed so that people can play with friends from other servers…this is just taking advantage of it. As someone mentioned earlier, the low population wouldn’t even be much of a problem if guesting was removed (or at least restricted) because the people who would be guesting would now actually be playing on their server, unless they really wanted to play with a friend.
How am I supposed to even get world bosses then? If I try to do them during offhours on my server I’m the only one there half the time. Did the golem today with five other people. My server allegedly has a “high” population.
You can guest on a high pop server and enjoy being in an overflow too if you want.
Personal story and home instances aren’t of much importance to many players.
I can take any character into any home instance and mine that ore, so I’m really not sure what the difference is.
I did have some trouble with “helping Rox” as she said we were going to go soon. OK! So I waited for a bit, she just kept wandering around rezzing people (lol) so I gave up and went to mine some ore and found both of the things I was supposed to find. I’m a habitual Dulfy user so I was a little shocked at my ability find them on my own.^^
All depends on how much “other” recipies you had discovered. For me it was relatively cheap.
I went like this (Huntsman):
400-425 – T6 refinement and discoveries (oils, runes, 2 exos)
425-450 – exo discoveries (mostly paid back as I sold all on TP for a decent price)
450-475 – ascended refinement
475-500 – exo discoveries (most expensive part tho it was partially covered by selling weapons on TP)
That ascended refinement part is key. I’ve got Huntsman to 471, and I don’t even care about getting this discipline to 500. It just happened. (Weaponsmith Level 0, piles of dust in my inventory that I didn’t want to just throw out, time gated crafting, and a Level 400 Huntsman. Is how it happened.)
