I’d assume the OP is talking about the new ancestral outfit.
I was trying not to assume, but highly likely.
I don’t see what the freaking uproar is (except with female charr and asura, maybe). This is rather tastefully done outfit. Yes, it shows cleavage, gods forbid a set has any sexuality.
Oh gosh….. yet another one of these.
You know, there are a lot of options out there for armor. From super skimpy (not skimpy enough for some though) to ‘nun chaste.’ Pick your poison.
We could further point you in the right direction if we knew what set you were referring to, or at the very least what weight class.
My husband and I both went with the panda as well.
We already had the watchwork tonic though… so it wasn’t a contender for us.
I still may get the dolyak tonic, just to say I have it. But it becomes just one more thing to clutter up my bank.
Oh Anet, please give us a tab for everlasting tonics! Inspire us to ‘collect them all’ without sacrificing our storage space. (Yeah I know, never gonna happen, but a girl could hope).
I got my meta without needing to do the crystals (thank the gods). I did the crystal hunt last time, and while it was fun, some of the ones I’ve done this time around reminded me (frequently) why I was happy I didn’t have to do it again. (The lag srsly hurts) Since there are no titles associated with completing these 2 tasks, guess who is not doing them, this time around?
For shurakk, you just need a couple people throwing seeds to pull the birds away from him. Either to one side, or behind him. Hitting the birds is typically what kills most people (from my observations). Aoe tends to not be your friend against this boss, since you end up hitting the birds. As long as the birds get pulled out of the way so people can hit him, he melts pretty darn quick.

Maybe I’ll go try that I suppose
Do yourself a favor and do it the proper way, it’s really not that hard.
Your respective class subforum probably has a thread dedicated to beating her.65 tries later….
Yeah… not that hard. No, I just suck. Thanks.
What part are you struggling at? There are two phases. If you can get to the 2nd phase without screwing up in the 1st (i.e. not missing any orbs) you can lootstick her to death on a guardian.
Just had a look at her previous posts; thief.
Unfortunately there are no walkthroughs on the thief subforums
but i know that poisons ignore her shield in p1 so you can wittle her down and when you see that time is running short, finish p1 and burst down what little is left of her.s/p for pistolwhip. shadowfall can be evaded. withdraw for mobility and SS for cond removal and when you run out of endurance and initiative to evade shadowfall.
Actually I’ve been doing it on my mesmer, tyvm. I’ve done everything on my mes thus far.
I have an issue making it to phase 2. Hell, a lot of the attempts, the stupid cosmic orb thing doesn’t spawn right away, and when it does it’s in the opposite direction in which I run (since they don’t seem to always spawn in the same spot) and pulls me right back into shadowfall, where the vision then spawns immediately on top and me and it’s game over. Superbly frustrating.
When I have made it to phase 2, I don’t really feel like I’m doing much of any damage to her before my phants are toasted. Then I either end up crippled and die, or the timer runs out.
Yes, I’ve tried playing with which weapons I’m using.
Yes, I have played around with my traits.
Yes, I have read dulfy and even watched her video on how she did it.
Yes, I have tried using both PVT (so I could take more of the grasp hits) and my typical Assassins gear. I suppose I could craft a zerker set, though I have no desire to sink that much gold into a set of armor that no one else can wear.
Yes, I crafted myself some truffle and meat stew, popped a metabolic primer and used it
Edit: My 80’s consists of my ele, 2 mes, a ranger, and a thief. My necro is the next closest at 72. My guard and warrior are like 40 and 65 respectively, so not really viable options.

Bear form trick?
I have nothing against the tools themselves, per se. I tend to have issues with the people that tend to abuse such tools – in other words, I’d prefer not to enable them. Personally, I think I would prefer the damage meter to simply be personal, not group wide, but whatever. Put ’em in, go for it and in addition, triple the ignore list space as well. Also fix the ignore functionality.
@Scramble, if the dps meter is purely for personal improvement, it doesn’t need to be group wide.

I’m sad to say this, but no, I have no plans on staying in the pavilion. My meta is done, and I got my panda
. I’m swapping to do my husband’s account. Then I’ll probably just hang out in aspect arena to earn tokens (for more tomes of knowledge). Since the mobs don’t drop essentially anything, there is no point to farm on a higher level character. Since they don’t reward XP, there is no point in taking a lower level character in to level. The pavilion content (this time around) simply does not offer any type of ‘long term’ incentive to keep playing it. Maybe if you belong to a guild that consistently earns gold on boss blitz, it might make it worthwhile to spend the time, but I doubt it. As it stands, every time I’ve done it, it’s taken well over an hour to complete one run and for what the bronze bag rewards, that’s just not sufficient use of my time.
So, after playing a bit, I’ll add my thoughts to this thread.
-The Pavilion
I like the changes to the bosses, and the needing to split up to take them out. I haven’t been in one that has gotten gold yet, but it’s still interesting to take some of them on. I like that each is a little different, mechanics wise, and not everyone has figured them out yet. For example, a lot of the people I’ve been with haven’t figured out that on the Ogre, you need a couple people throwing seed to split the birds to the sides away from him, while everyone else hits him. AoE is not your friend there, since hitting the birds kills you pretty quickly.
I am disappointed that the mobs don’t give essentially any loot or experience. They could at least drop some. Sure, they occasionally drop a gauntlet ticket or a festival coin. I’ve even gotten a bag and a leather strap once or twice, but Anet didn’t need to crack down quite so much I don’t think. They went too far they other way this time. They need to be somewhere in the middle, imo. Lengthen the spawn time of mobs when the event isn’t running, up the loot halfway between the then and now, maybe add some hint pop ups for the bosses when you face them, and maybe add like a 5g reward for getting the gold kill time (which is what, 7 minutes for all 6 bosses?).
-The gauntlet
I didn’t do this last year. I tried, but I didn’t have a variety of 80s to do it on, so I said screw it. I do have a few 80s now, so I gave it a shot. It’s pretty interesting. Sometimes rather annoying and frustrating, especially when I lag. I absolutely can’t beat liadri, so I guess that means I suck. Still, it was…interesting, but definitely doesn’t hold any replay-ability for me. I haven’t gotten anything except more gauntlet tickets and tokens from it, and aspect arena is far more entertaining (with a lot less frustration) for the same amount of token gain. If the back piece recipe were a little more prevalent a drop, or doing those fights repeatedly gave me something ‘more,’ then it might make them worth doing more than just the once (or twice) for the various achievement points. The AP just isn’t enough motivation for me to do the additional things like meatless murder or the various gambits considering the likeliness of me getting anything else worthwhile is about as good as a snowflake’s chance in hell….
Just my 2c.
lol yeah, same. still waiting.
Ah that was the outfit that was data mined right around the time the festival was announced. I think I like it.
I also hope this is a bug. I looked forward to the farming….
dulfy isnt down for me…. but it is very slow right now

Man I mixed up stuff and ended up with a carrion thief with that dual-wield skill that applies torment (since she roams the room) as well as anything that could bring torment, it was quite effective!
Some necros told me it was hell easier with necro, might try that this time ’round.
Hmmm. I’ll have to see what I can cook up. My necro isn’t an 80, but my first thief is.
I like the shield, and possibly the great sword. Not sure on the bows at this point.
Although, these make me think mockingbird (especially the focus) and Hunger Games. Rather than of a phoenix.

Well… there be the end of that. Back to EotM I go.

I’m not upset that certain people got a ‘sneak preview’ I mean, GW2 isn’t the first game to give certain ‘press type’ people / players a head start so to speak. It’s not like this doesn’t come out today.
Now if they’d just hurry up and patch….
While I also dislike the derogatory use of the term ‘Noob,’ having it added to the list of disallowed words really won’t help the underlying issue. That’s what really needs to be addressed, not the words being used. Simply filtering the words means that they will take a few extra seconds to either come up with something to bypass the filter, or simply use a different term.
A fair point.
Its difficult to come up with a good mechanic here though.
Perhaps a sort of ranking system where you can at least give the person a “-1” or something then.Edit:
Op should try playing some LoL on the EUW server.
Ranking system idea was inspired by the system in place in LoL. It seems to work fine there.
Simply report the person for abusive language. Its use will be taken into context with the tone of the conversation. If the person is being a jerk, Anet does tend to do something about it. After being temp banned a time or two, people straighten up…at least for a short period of time.
Do they look into these cases with same seriousness as the cases where a bad word is used? If so then that’s awesome and solves my problem completely.
Yes they do. Verbal abuse can occur without having any curse words used. That’s why Anet looks at the conversation as whole, not just instances of words used. It has to be taken into context.

Since anet has loosely stated that they don’t feel the need for another gear tier, and have previously stated that they had plans of legendary gear, as well as more horizontal gear ‘progression’, at this point I am going to not worry about it. It’s likely not more stat progression, although we do know that some of that is coming as well. They have stated that there will be some power curve, as additional infusion tiers become available. She could be talking partly about that too.

Fine, explain to me how Anet could deliver the established 2 week content, add on top a larger content patch every 3rd or 4th month, AND develop a full expansion using the same resources as before? You can only squeeze so much juice from a melon.
If you’re talking about Anet hiring more people and getting a bigger budget to increase production, then sure by all means. With more time, money, and people Anet could do anything. Ask NCSoft if they feel like it’s worth it to devote such resources to Anet when they have new games like Wowstar to worry about.
They have 4 (or is it 3?) LS teams, with about 4 month development time per monthly arc, that shouldn’t be an issue to remain the same. It did get better as the season went on.
I’m not even going to speculate where the rest of the 300+ people anet have are. We know some of them are working on QoL, we know some of them are working with balance stuff. What have the ones that were working on the China coding changes been retasked to do? What are the cooking up in the background that they ’aren’t ready to talk about yet.’ We hear that a lot in interviews. “Big background projects”
Anet is still hiring people, so they are still growing. Yes, they will get additional revenue from China, but I wasn’t considering that or hiring new people.
I’d like to see a combination of things actually:
Keep the 2 week cadence, but do more than one thing. Sort of like multiple, small LS going on at the same time. Just like with life, just because one thing is happening over here, doesn’t mean something else also isn’t happening over there. The world just doesn’t ‘stop’ to do one thing at a time.
Give us a larger content LS every 3rd or 4th month. Maybe tie some of the events in together. Make it a more interesting plot, with twists and cliff hangers. Hell, kill somebody off and make us cry.
Lastly, give us an expansion on top of all of that. (I know, tall order, but I’m pretty sure they could do it).
Let LS be the story of the world as it exists and grows from day to day. Let it act as link from dragon to dragon. Let expansions be the growth of our personal stories and the epic adventures of slaying dragons.
Just my 2c
They couldn’t do any of that. What you saw over the LS season 1 is exactly what Anet is capable of delivering. That’s the best they can do under the 2 week schedule. This is what happens when you compress the game development cycle and operate with small teams. You get proportionally small, less substantial content. You’re asking them to keep the 2 week schedule, but somehow ramp up the amount of content having more than just “one thing” to do. You also want them to make a full expansion on top of that. It’s not economically feasible. To make an expansion, they would have to quit doing living world, buckle down for 8-14 months, and build a solid $40-$60 box expansion pack. I’m all for that, because I would rather have one really nice steak dinner once in a while, than a single M&M every day.
chuckle If you say so.

Um… all of the above?
“Open world” is kind of vague. I’m assuming you’re wrapping things like exploring, map completion, guild events, role playing, and such into that category?
Hmmm. I’ve never personally ran into issues with point 2. Of course, generally when I elect to jump in, it’s usually an event or the person is obviously losing. Otherwise, I typically mind my own business.
I have had issues with point 1 though, especially in Orr and other higher maps while gathering. People run up, gather the node, and run off, leaving their aggro on me and anyone else in the vicinity because all they care about is harvesting the materials as quickly as they can. Sometimes, it makes me miss my personal instances from GW1. Other times, I just roll me eyes, kill the kitten and carry on.
New 1v1 Arena mode implemented(both PVP and PvE gear, different queues or smth).
Why not? Can’t see a single downside to this and I can find multiple flaws in gem-store dueling flags, open world fighting, PvP 1v1 server dueling and OS dueling(what we have right now). Would be pretty fabulous in my opinion.Dueling is not meant to be “serious”. Its casual, spontaneous and kills the waiting time. This Concept doesn’t work If you have to leave the map.
I still do would like to know the Reason for the objections to Dueling.
If it is implemented as i.e. Blood Red Arachnid suggests, why do you even care?
I would really like to hear an Argument. They have no argument. It’s “it hurts my feelings”, “I might get annoyed for 30 seconds”, and “WoW clone”. As if taking a feature that has been standard in MMOs and adding it to GW2 suddenly makes it a clone.
What also annoys me is that people seem to support ANet’s grand tradition of gating standard MMO features behind a cash shop.
Conversely there are no valid argument to have it either then. “I just want to show off” “I just want to pvp in pve gear” “I’m bored” Every MMO does not need to have all the same things as every other MMO.
Its something people want.
They also want:

Auto-loading secondary speccing
The Holy trinityAlso of course
-addons especially Damage-Meters
-gearscore maybe ?
-and CAPES !!!!!Yeah .. add it all and give us also an engine that looks like it was from the 90s
After that we can start to complain that the game is boring because its just another Clone of that particular game.
And about 50 or so more skills per class, doesn’t matter if 2 or 3 are just the same thing reskinned..
And an additional 2 or 3 skill bars, so they can equip everything, even though they only actually use like like the first 4 skills..
And mana pools… so we can go back to the days with energy management, cooldowns, and strict rotations…
Lol yeah, what are they thinking?! Who wants things like resource management which add depth? I wanna spam 1. I play how I want!
This means of design is limiting though, and really doesn’t add all that much depth to play. So you carry an extra set, or two of weapons to swap in in high energy drain scenarios. Oh boy, so much depth. Sounds like just needing to carry around that much more stuff.
How many times, even with excellent management, in other games have you had to stop between battles to wait for regen? I can think of a lot of instances in both GW1 and in WoW, having to wait for healers or dps to recover mana, to pop pots, to recover from swapping to higher energy sets, etc etc.
(edited by LanfearShadowflame.3189)
So, I may be in the minority here, but I have no sympathy for the OP.
How much you spend in the cash shop is a choice. No one makes you do it. If you cannot control your spending, that’s no one’s fault but your own.
You could have decided you were going to spend ‘x’ in the attempt to get a ticket, and that’s it. Set a limit and stick to it.
You could have traded gold for gems instead of spending real money.
You could have bought gems, traded them to gold, and TPed the skin.
You could have spent 10$, bought a char slot and farmed keys.
Instead, you spent and spent and spent, and are now here complaining that you didn’t have enough control to simply stop. This is no different than choosing to spend your money on instant lotto cards. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but the only person that can draw the line at how much you spend is you.
I’ve used Noxxic for WoW builds, but I couldn’t fathom why they attempted to create guides for GW2 builds. Anet has always been good as shaking up their skills pretty regularly. Builds become outdated and potentially unusable after a mere matter of months. Always requiring at least a minor update to validate the use of a build. It was the same in GW1, where they constantly rebalanced skills. PvX wiki (GW1) was a nightmare of outdated and no longer viable builds. The same has happened here a couple of times already. People just get tired of updating all the time.
Its something people want.

….hmm sure as hell sounds like they want WoW (or several other already available options) to me….
So… they should put it in, just because someone wants it?
We should be just like every other game out there, just because someone wants it that way? WoW clone – here we come!
Am I weird for thinking you shouldn’t play a character you don’t enjoy playing?
Nope, I’m right there with you….
Why have alts if you aren’t going to bother playing them?
Ok, sure, if you have a human mesmer, an asuran mesmer, and make yet another mesmer (say a charr), I can see the potential gripe. But then again, why make so many if you don’t enjoy leveling them?
“Well, I want the class for ‘x’” Then do the work and level it, it’s not like there’s only one means of doing it. Besides, playing the class will give you a better understanding of its finer points.
/no thank you to open world duels
And here we go again with “well I’ve never seen it happen, so it obviously doesn’t, you’re just making kitten up” I sure hope those people are atheists… cause the same concept applies…
I run with my guildmates and we sometimes take on a pug who sometimes asks “y no stack?” The best response from my guild matewas, “cos we’re not cowards”. Think we were doing AC spider queen. Then proceeded to fire off our combos and tear the queen limb from limb.
When I LFG, I usually make sure to add “no stacking, killing everything in sight” and it fills quickly with people who are of the same mind. Do the dungeon the way it was meant to, not the fastest way possible.
One AC run, did all paths, slaughtered everything that didn’t respawn. We’d skip the mobs in the Tzark path when you clear the hall of burrows since they’re unending. Hell, we even killed all the gravelings in the various corridors. Now that was fun.
My guildies and I are like this. I put things like ‘casual’ ‘non skipping’ ‘non running’ ‘non stacking’ ‘be prepared to massacre everything’ in our lfg descriptions, and the number of people that either obviously can’t read, or don’t have any reading comprehension is concerning. It’s gotten to the point where we just 3 or 4 man the paths, unless we absolutely need a pug (which isn’t often).
This is exactly what happens when people make zerker lfgs. I joined a friend for SE, some random joins and pings knights and rampagers. I feel players in this game generally just lack the inability to read and i can imagine it’s frustrating for people when they set requirements on their post. Luckily for me I just write ‘path 2’ and take literally anyone because idgaf, lol.
And I can understand ‘80s only, zerker’ groups getting upset when they clearly label what they are looking for. I tend to take a bit of an issue when people only label their group ‘Px’ and then have requirements they just assume people are going to know likes 80s only, no first timers, etc etc. That annoys me to no end, and I’ve run into it a lot when I typically pug.
I sort of wish their were more out there like you that, as you aptly put it, ‘dgaf.’ Its just so much more enjoyable when you don’t have to stress all the little details.
“OMG! this run took 60 seconds longer than my last one. You’re all noobs!” sigh

Different people with different tastes :-) Ultimately, it’s the developers fault: if they make them such huge HP sponges with bad drops (yeah, you get an exotic from time to time – but you will also get them from level 10 mobs in the open world), that have a leash (you lose aggro after a while) most people won’t kill them.
An improvement to drops wouldn’t hurt. I’ll agree there.
I’m of the opinion that mobs shouldn’t have leashes in dungeons. Unlike the open world, a dungeon path has limited scope. They should chase you all the way to the end and gang bang you, but that’s just my thoughts on it. I know a lot of people that would simply rage if mobs actually weren’t skippable. I don’t think I’d have enough popcorn for that show….
If you run dungeons over and over it gets boring, the trash mobs don’t drop anything interesting usually. So people will skip.
See, I don’t understand this at all. I generally only do CM, but I’ll do it 2-3 times a night on week nights, and a dozen or more on a weekend during the day. I kill everything every time, skipping doesn’t make it any more or less enjoyable. Beyond that, the only times I’ve ever gotten a rare or exotic drop, it has come from a trash mob. Not the champs or the chests, which you would think that those would have a higher chance.
shrug
Maybe it’s the people I’m doing it with? Because it’s never boring. No matter how many times we do it. I’m going to assume that I’m in the minority though, since all people seem to kitten about is how ‘boring’ this game is (in general).
I like the open world mega bosses, and it’s only recently that I can do them now without lagging my sorry kitten off at 1 fps. Yeah you heard me, ONE fps, and I still did them. It wasn’t easy, but it was doable.
Now that I’ve upgraded, I still can’t run everything on max during a temple run or a wvw blob on blob (gotta turn it down to about medium), but that’s still leaps and bounds better than it once was. (Pretty sure at this point its more a connection issue rather than a hardware issue) For everything else, I can run everything as high as it will go. Although, I always turn anti-aliasing off (I think that’s the setting) simply because I can’t work with how bright it makes things. Insta-migraine.
Not all of us play that way…
Some of it might be due to poor design. Some of it is simply due to how we as players are conditioned. They want to do it as fast as possible, with the least amount of effort involved. Its all about just getting to that final shiny, because ‘trash mobs never drop anything good’ (lofl). shrug
I don’t mind having skins in the gem store. Considering some of the alternatives that could be sold, I’m not going to kitten about cosmetics that I can buy by investing time to convert gold into gems.
Now, that said, I still would enjoy seeing some new skin sets added to the game as well. I’ve used adding them into the chests at the end of JPs as an example previously (6 different JPs to get the whole set, guaranteed reward from the chest, etc). Something we have to do / accomplish to earn it. I mean, sure, running the same dungeon a couple dozen times for a set of armor is ok, but I’d like to see some more options for acquisition (that isn’t RNG specific) in the game play. Of course, I’d be ok with purchasing it from a merchant like in GW1, but would need to do something interesting to find / spawn him (not to mention some fun collecting in order to buy his wares). Just.. something different with more skin options.
Then again, we didn’t get more armor options in GW1 until Factions came out, and then it wasn’t a huge number of new options. We got more with Nightfall, and a few more in EotN as well. I think we ended up with roughly 30 sets of armor per profession, which is about what we started with per armor tier in GW2. Maybe we’ll start seeing some new sets as the LS progresses into new zones, or perhaps when we get a new race (should have at least a racial armor per tier right?).
ponders
Now that China has launched, let’s see how things go. That’s my stance on it.
Per the Megaserver and guilds blog – they are working on it.
Maaaamaaaaaa! Just killed a warband! Put my hammer against their heads, took a swing and now they’re dead.
lol. Shows Arenanet really loves warriors.
Could have been a guard too… they have the ability to use hammers…
