I agree with the AoE and range issues.

I dislike how we can’t do anything against people on top of walls in wvw. -_- And on the dredge fractal cannons that always show obstructed when using the GS. It’s also annoying that a little slope can kill our DPS by preventing summoning of phantasms/illusions.

I really miss Guild Halls too. When guilds are about to do missions, we don’t even have a cool meeting place to assemble at..

I realize this doesn’t address the vast scope of this topic, and I may post again later, but… I still want an elite phantasm skill.

• A high-attack rate, heavy-CC hammer phantasm…
• A lower-attack rate, high-damage dagger phantasm…
• A skill that summons two or three phantasms on use of your next phantasm skill.

I’ll even allow ArenaNet to take away Moa Morph AND Time Warp for these.

I want an elite phantasm too.. One that’s ground targeted maybe? That’s why I want some sort of Wanderlust phantasm, but an AOE CC type. :/ I really think ritualist binding skills would translate well as phantasms in gw2.

Personally, if they don’t plan on bringing back the ritualist, I want us at least to get some of their skills, but instead of spirits, make them phantasms… Like the rit’s Wanderlust = Phantasm of Wanderlust elite..

And that’s why I’m worried about the potential for infusion gear grind. :/ Even if Ascended is the last tier, slow but steady power creep via ever-more powerful infusions (or even things like Ascended runes/sigils) basically amounts to the same thing.

^This. I hated ascended since its introduction, but since I’m a sucker for min/max equips, I made sure I had all BiS as soon as they were released. I agree that ascended is tolerable if it’s the last BiS equipment stat-wise, and I don’t want power creep via infusions. Can you imagine if they put rare, exotic and ascended stat infusions? That’s just low. Especially since getting max agony resist alone (30 iirc) on every ascended equipment is almost impossible.

I made a berserker ascended set for my mes since it’s easier to switch trinkets plus she’s equipped with all legendaries so I can change weapon stats easily. I personally like DPS over condition anyway.

Well i’m specifically talking about a gear treadmill. Typically called such because new gear is released in MMO’s every 2-3 months that increases the power cap. Meaning in order to stay at the same relative power level you need to keep grinding, thus the treadmill analogy.

By my count a new gear power level has been released every 3 months since launch, surpassing even WoW for the speed of the progression.

Ascended rings and backpieces-> 3 months later -> ascended trinkets and earrings -> 3 months later -> ascended weapons -> 3 months later -> ascended armor -> 3 months later -> Improved infusions (?) -> 3 months later -> ascended runes/sigils (?)

It’s amazing that somehow this game that was supposed to have no grind has actually surpassed WoW in its gear treadmill and they managed to get away with it by simply calling it “one new tier” yet still requiring months of work for each piece similar to the amount of time it takes in WoW to get one new tier.

People seem to be under the impression that it’s only a power creep if it’s an entire set, not just pieces of items with higher stats introduced at intervals. Despite all being labeled as the same tier, we still technically did get gear grind over the past year.

Well, this is their final reply.. So unfortunate. I gave the complete details on the steps I took in crafting my armors but it seems they can’t (or won’t) be able to determine what exactly went wrong. -_-

Interesting… So it seems the bug originated from something else that I did, and not exclusive to the flamekissed skin… Take note though that I finished my entire set on day 1, so they may have fixed something that now allowed transmutation. Thank you for your response, I’m looking forward to the results of your tests. It’ll help me in determining what exactly happened that I wasn’t able to transmute properly.

As for your edit: My tailor (level 44 ele) and the character I equipped it on (level 80 mesmer) were different, so that’ll probably be a reason or something..

Did anyone try to transmute from WvW armors to ascended? That may also be a reason. :/

Oh please no, the normal ones are expensive enough.. -_- if they don’t make a ceiling for stat infusions then it’ll be a treadmill.

You can extract all infusions (like precise infusion and +5 agony resistance) on an infused item using 1 extractor..

GM Peter replied to my ticket and said that they couldn’t replicate the bug..

Anyone else experienced anything like this? Unable to transmute from exotic to ascended? What I did was make the ascended set on an alt, placed it in the bank, then equipped it on my main. When I decided I didn’t like how it looked, I tried to transmute directly from my existing exotic armor (wvw berserker exotic armor with flamekissed skin+divinity runes) to my ascended set, but regardless of what I place first in transmuting, the other panel would be red. So I ended up having to use splitters.

I would like to ask if anyone else had a problem transmuting from exotic to ascended. The gms replied to my ticket and said that they could not replicate the bug.

They can file a ticket to get their gems refunded.. As far as the bug is concerned, yea I understand that it’s probably at the bottom of their priority list seeing as very few people have the complete Ascended armor AND flamekissed-skinned exotics. It still is a bug however, that caused me to incur additional expenses via splitters and I think that should be addressed. :/ I’m not really after gems tbh, i can afford them, I just want to see how anet would handle the issue.

They’re also refunding additional expenses incurred from buying the original flamekissed skin (such as total makeover kits or dyes or weapons) by giving you an additional 1200 gems on top of the original 800 gem cost of the set (for a total of 2000 gems). Personally I think it’s just their way of pacifying their customers since some of them feel cheated that they aren’t gonna keep the look that they bought (practically switching your item with another after u bought it, like finding out the blue shirt that you supposedly bought was replaced with red).

In my case, I bought the skin because it was T3 (my character being human and all) and used total makeover kit and bought pyre and flame dyes to make my look cohesive. I wouldn’t have transferred the look if it wasn’t, but it still is and I wanted to hang on to the look for as long as I can. When they finally implement the new look, I intend to replace my set back to what it was originally (pre-flamekissed) which is the phoenix light armor set + mask of the crown (and change my character’s hair, hair color and skin tone) to keep the phoenix/bird theme. But because of the bug, I don’t have enough gems to purchase those again, ultimately nullifying the purpose of the compensation.

really? you need 70 AR to get through frac 50? Many people already hit and finished frac 50 BEFORE ascended armor, BEFORE getting 70 AR. 50 AR does the job.

I think you did a huge mistake in your post…..proving you don t know how fotm 50 works…

Those people finishing 50 before ascended armor spent about 450 gold to finish fotm 50 before armors….BUT NOT before getting 70 AR being just impossible.

I’m sorry but I have to agree with LordByron here. The change in agony in fotm (particularly the mistlock instability) is just ridiculous. Imho it’s more practical to make an ascended armor set than try to make the necessary AR from just trinkets/weapons at this point.

I hope it’s not their final answer.. I’ve sent them another email clarifying that the incurred cost of splitters is from the transmutation bug (and not the skin per se) and that people who have the current skin is having unnecessary expenses due to that. -_- it’s bad enough that they’re replacing the skin that i wanted with another that I probably wouldn’t like, but that the issue with the flamekissed armor is persisting even in ascended armors.

I’ve finally received a response regarding my ticket about the transmutation bug on exotic armors with flamekissed skin to ascended, and they won’t refund me for the splitters i had to use just to maintain my runes/skin. -_- It is controversial enough as it is (the skin), i didn’t think they would overlook an issue with it when it came to transmutation to ascended. Now I’m stuck with a skin that I’m only keeping because it’s still an upgraded T3, but also with extra expenses courtesy of the splitters. Then I’ll replace it when they reskin the thing. Ugh so much gold sink!

^This. Especially for the light armor ascended set which would normally take at least more than a month just for the time gated mats. The ascended armor set is no walk in the park to craft. In my case I had to save up at least 1k gold so I could be one of the very first to finish an entire set.

Anyway, I was able to finish my entire ascended light armor set the day it was released. Unfortunately, it seems there’s a bug in transmuting from exotic to ascended if you have the flamekissed skin on your exotic as it will prevent you from transmuting entirely. Just a precaution for those who have the skin and would like to transfer the skin, since I was probably one of the first to craft the set, I thought it was intended that we’d have to use transmutation splitters first to even keep the runes which doesn’t seem to be the case for others..

The bug for transmuting, from what I can tell, is specific to the Flamekissed armor. That skin was pulled from the trading post and is slated for replacement as soon as the new set is complete. It’s probably flagged internally and causing issues.

I used a transmutation stone on my torso. I did transfer the rune and the skin of my exotic to the ascended.

The skin was the Priory, btw.

Or could it be related specifically to the light flamekissed armor skins, as ANet removed them from the gem shop? Maybe transmutation of these skins was blocked on purpose, as applied skins might be easier to replace with a new design than items that are considered “transmuted”. Dunno, just a thought.

I know for a fact that transmuting exotic weapon looks to ascended weapons ain’t a problem, no splitters needed there (got a fractal longbow with ascended stats). Would expect the same for armor.

I hope you’re right. If it is a bug though, I sure hope customer support would reimburse the gems i used (splitters + stones).

HMM seems like it IS a bug since someone said they were able to transmute a priory skinned exotic armor to an ascended. It sounds like the bug is from the flamekissed armor skin.

Ok so the issue with me not being able to transmute from exotic to ascended directly might pose a bigger problem than I thought, particularly to those who plan to use T3 cultural armors.. :/ If you use a transmutation splitter, will your T3 armor become a skin so that you can use it for your ascended armor?

Either way, if it’s intentional, I don’t think it’s very nice to force us to use splitters or buy new skins from the gem store in order to change our ascended armor’s appearance. I just hope it’s a bug. I’ll update you guys once customer support responds to my ticket.

Have you tried transmuting your existing exotic armor to your ascended so you can get either the rune or the skin? Because when I tried it with mine, it wouldn’t let me. And if it’s as intended, then that means people with T3 armor has no way of transferring the skin to ascended.

I had to use transmutation splitters first, then transmutation stones on my exotic flamekissed armor in order to get the skin and runes.

has anyone tried transmuting T3 armor to ascended yet? coz if it doesn’t work with my exotic set, i would think it wouldn’t work for rare too.. that sucks coz that means we’d have to use splitters or salvage armor to get runes and transfer it to ascended.
