It’s more of a choice TBH, many people can afford to drop gold for full set @ day 1 to bypass the timegate but most are holding back for a couple of weeks when you can do it for a fraction of the cost and make multiple sets for all your builds.

Yea, I knew I could’ve had the set in half the cost if i waited a day or so.. But ascended items were like an itch i couldn’t scratch when it was announced. So I had to get rid of it by making it asap and now I’m pretty satisfied.. My issue now is about exotic skins not being transmutable to ascended armor skins. I don’t really like the idea that we have to buy transmutation splitters first before we can transmute. :/

Suffice to say, I didn’t like how my ascended armor set looked like when I crafted it. So I tried transmuting my exotic armor flamekissed light skinned one to it but it wouldn’t allow me. I have posted a bug report regarding it. It also prevented me from transferring my runes and required me to buy expensive transmutation splitters.

I was able to craft my entire Ascended Armor set the day it was released. Unfortunately, the transmutation stones wouldn’t allow me to transmute my exotic armor skin (berserker armors with Flamekissed light armor skin) along with the runes attached to it (Divinity Runes). I had to purchase transmutation splitters to split the skin and runes first, then buy transmutation stones in order to transfer the Flamekissed light armor skin to my ascended. My question is if this is intentional or a bug. Because atm, I think the requirement of buying transmutation splitters along with transmutation stones in order to transfer a skin and runes are a bit hefty on top of crafting to 500 plus crafting the entire ascended set.

An equipment slot for mini will be awesome.. I do hope they implement that.. I have seen a reddit datamined info about an item that lets us play with our mini (catch or something) and I sure hope they really put that in the game.

In my case yes, I tried to transmute directly from my exotic armors to the ascended but it won’t let me.. I had to use transmutation splitters first then use transmutation stones to transfer the skin.

I filed a ticket and posted in the game bugs section of the forum to confirm whether this is intentional or not..

Sorry I put my graphics to best performance when in wvw hahaha. I’m having second thoughts on the dwayna backpiece too tbh because of the balthazar one.. If they add lyssa i will definitely choose that over dwayna since in my personal story background, I chose Lyssa as my patron being a mesmer and all..

As far as the stats are concerned, I think somebody already made a thread about it and the overall increase in berserker is just like having a mere extra ruby orb. Again, I rushed my set for the sense of “completion” on my character, since when they started introducing ascended, I was never as happy as I was when I started playing gw2 thinking I already had BiS equips and only had to worry about cosmetics. But now that it’s done, I can play however I want again. It’s a good feeling for me especially in wintersday so I can focus on the aspects of the game that I like. XD

Well that’s debatable.. I was perfectly happy with exotics as the BiS equips.. I really don’t think ascended were necessary and that it goes against the manifesto but that’s a topic that has already been discussed to death in the forums. I’m just relieved to finally be done with the whole thing.

As far as the stat goes, I think the increase is barely noticeable. Again, this was more of a choice for psychological reasons more than anything.

You seem to have a lot of gold and and a lot of patience to farm like you did. Why don’t you buy 1000 giant wintersday gifts and open them? This way well… you’ll get the recipe. I opened 500 of those and got 3 Light of Dwayna recipe + 1 thingy of Grenth recipe. Several friends of mine reported to get between 1 and 3 with 500 gifts. So they are actually not hard to get.

Playing the tp means you are profiting other players.

Aside being unethical (imho but its a long debate), its NOT a viable solution for players.

If all players started to flip the TP, we would just obtain a 30% loss for everyone.

In the current situation you just have few players profiting at other players cost (+ 30% loss totaly on other players).

that is why i hate TP so much.
The damage is way worse than the benefit for the Whole community…but few players at least are rich without Killing a mob….

Its also the ONLY form of FORCED pvp in this game.

Hmm that’s an interesting point of view.. I guess I’ll stick to farming then.. As much as I want to earn back the gold I spent on my ascended, I’d still rather stick to being ethical and definitely not harm the community. Thanks.

for some reason I don’t think you really had to farm for the gold on it lol just played the tp for a day or 2 for good measure anywho congrats on the set I’m waiting for legendary armor access etc but still may not play it unless we have tengu race : D side not off topic I only have twilight and predator but then again I rarely play anymore and didnt really back then either worked 2 jobs for first 4 months and then just life and 1 job for the rest

Anyway the reason why I rushed my ascended armor is more psychological than anything. I just want BiS slot equips done so I can focus more on the game without feeling incomplete.

I farmed a lot the past few weeks in order to save up some money so I can finally finish all this ascended crap. Now I only have to worry about good looking gear and my next project is the Light of Dwayna backpiece.. Unfortunately it’s still bugged and I can’t buy the recipe on the TP.

BiS equips are BiS equips regardless of how minute the stat gain is. Ascended goes against what we were initially led to believe of reserving the grind for cosmetics only, but just because it’s not going away doesn’t mean they can’t make up for introducing it and find a middle ground for us who feel deceived by this.

If this was any other MMO, I wouldn’t complain because I would’ve known what I was getting myself into. I expect Anet to stay true to their manifesto since that was what enticed me to play the game in the first place by finding means to make getting my BiS equips less of a chore than it currently is.

But it wasn’t a HT3 upgrade or it would have been marketed as such. It was a reskin with flames sold as a armor skin set on the gem store. It wasn’t labeled , “Human T3 Upgarde.”. In turn many HT3 owners asked to have it removed to maintain the integrity of their armor. IMO it wasn’t so much about that but that it was because it was HT3 that looked cooler. I would bet if Anet had said all HT3 owners would get the skin all this, “but it’s only for humans!” crying would have stopped.

You don’t get both. HT3 owners wanted it removed for the “integrity” of their armor. It will be gone and that will be the end if it. I’ve seen several posts across forums with, “Now can we have it?”. Sorry, no.

I have the current Flamekissed on my human as I type and I love it. I’m waiting to see what the revamp looks like and if it will indeed be, " something special" as was claimed. When the change occurs I’ll decide what I want and truly hope I like the new one better. However, you can’t say, “Get rid of it! But wait! It’s cool so give it to me later.”

Once it is gone if it comes back in some other fashion it will start a whole new mess and seriously anger those who bought it in the first place.

Hmm, we’ll see. It’s a matter of opinion anyway, and mine is that they shouldn’t just trash the whole thing coz I like it, and will really want to get it again somehow and I’m sure others do as well.

Sorry but nope. People argued to have it pulled. It should be gone forever once the change is made. It wouldn’t be fair to take it away from those that bought it off the gem store only to give it to T3 owners later. Once the revamp is done the old Flamekissed should never come back.

People argued over it being accessible to other races… They can always implement a way to upgrade T3 to exotic and incorporate upgraded graphics which by then they could reuse the skin. Of course, other races should get equal treatment if they do so.

For the record, I’ve never claimed actual poor service (that would only be if they refused to give a refund, or deleted the armour upon giving it and leaving me at least 50g out of pocket and without my gear), merely that I am not happy with the response I received compared to that which others in the same situation have been getting. The inconsistency of the support department is my main complaint at this point.

I’m sorry that your experience isn’t as favorable as mine. I’m not trying to disprove your claims specifically, I’m just providing evidence on the contrary in general, that there are people who do get compensated accordingly.

That’s an even bigger problem. some people get more refunded than they deserve and should have, while others get too little. Anet should’ve thought out a way to compensate consistently and fairly. They didnt have to hand out refund right away until they had found a proper way to do it :/

Sorry I edited my reply to say that I think the way they compensate for this issue will get better in time, and that you can always make another ticket if you feel the compensation does not meet your needs.. I would think that anything filed BEFORE they finally release the reskinned item should remain open for reconsideration.

I think they’re treating each ticket as individual cases and doesn’t have an SOP yet to handle the issue generally. The important thing is to not give up on sending tickets imho.

I think the situation they are in are more complicated than the normal tickets they get, and thus the disparity in how it is handled. I believe they’ll reach an appropriate compensation once everything settles. Anyway, they did say that every person’s case is different and will be treated as such.

Ok, like I’ve said before, Anet may make poor decisions on the direction they are taking the game and stuff, but I’ve never complained about their customer support because of how accommodating they are (at least to me and my friends) so far. Here’s a proof.

For the record, I only asked for a refund on the armor (800 gems), and didn’t mention any other concerns.

Well, the problem seems to be, that they haven’t had any options to replace the skin.
Sure they got their gems back. What if the skin is applied to their armor?
Would you want to delete all your gear to get rid of it? Not just the skin but the armor set it was used on?

Actually, that’s not what I was saying. I was saying that those who got their 800 gems back already have been asked to delete their skins (or transmute over.) Some have said that they’re not going to do that. I understand perfectly that they don’t want to get rid of their armor, and that’s not what I want them to do.

What I was asking is if a player has already gotten their gems back, and they are still wearing the flamekissed armor when ANet releases the new skin, will their armor convert to the new skin automatically? If so, they’ve already gotten a refund, and they get the new skin without paying for it.

I just didn’t see this as fair to those who wait to see the new skin before they ask for a refund and end up with either the 800 gems or the new skins, and not both.

This is why I think everyone who purchased the original design should get 800 gems back regardless.

I sort of second this. I can only assume that the materials required for a single piece of ascended gear will be similar to a weapon and that scares the hell out of me because its so much. Let me take that back…to craft the individual pieces isnt so bad. But getting your crafting to 500 is the hardest part. Its rediculous.

The whole idea behind ascended is still preposterous for me.. And the more they delve into it, the more jaded I become about the game.

So far, with every release, the future ain’t looking very bright for me with this game. I dunno how I can stay optimistic anymore for GW2.

The problem is that there is already such a disparity in the player base in terms of how much time people can dedicate to grinding out weapons/gear. I mean, I have a friend who has at least 4 legendaries, but I barely have 2 ascended pieces.

There will be plenty of people who have full ascended armor in the first week, but you’ll also see plenty of people that still don’t have a set 6 months later.

Instead of putting in prestigeous, hard to attain armor skins (and no, T3 cultural doesn’t count. Ascended stuff costs much, much more than a full set of that), they’re adding in a set that boosts stats.

If I knew about Ascended before and how ridiculous the method/s of acquiring them I never would’ve bought the game. If they ever decide to make an expansion, I’m not gonna buy it. This latest patch (fractured) alone has made me lose all of my trust in Anet.

If I wanted a gear grind, I would’ve chosen a different game. I bought GW2 precisely because of the manifesto. I’m just waiting for EQN to be released.

If you used gold, you’ll have to remember the date and approximate time you bought the skin/gems (they said they had no record of my purchase). If it was gifted to you, I don’t know what the system would be for that. I guess the person who gifted it would have to get the refund.

I was gonna ask the same thing. I was only doing fractals recently for the achievement, but even after the “improvements” I don’t see any point in doing it after getting the ring/backpiece.

And so I wonder even more, why is Agony Resistance infusion SO kittening expensive?!
