As I said in another thread its amazing how everytime actual problems with the Mesmer class is brought up somebody pops in to tell us about their 50k burst damage and how they can take on entire zergs solo so we all need to l2p.
It has Been mentioned before however if you think of all shatter skills being say blast finishers then we are going to turn into one of the best classed for stacking/blasting fields. A 4 clone shatter would turn into 12 stacks of might on a fire field on top of shattered strength.
Well Revenents are getting 3 blasts on one weapon skill on the same weapon that can create a fire field so…
I am hoping the Mesmer Sheild thing was a troll and it will be given something useful like a MH pistol.
I hope he he becomes our sidekick and follows around everywhere outside of the story.
Part of the reason why Mesmers never receive the attention it needs, the QoL improvements in needs in PvE and why in balance patches bug fixes are disguised as buffs is because everytime somebody brings up a problem there is always some ‘Mesmer player’ who comes in and tells us how great they are, how Mesmer can win 1 v 100s and how we all just need to learn how to 360 no scope. I guess also derailing the thread into PvE vs PvP is a new one at least.
Rangers had to fight hard to drag their class up from the pits, Mesmers need to do the same and not let these elitists beat you down.
GS 3 was made bigger.
Apart from that just a bunch of nerfs to appease pvp players.
Anet needs to stop trying to make interrupt builds a thing, its not going to become a thing.
If you’re having trouble with interrupt builds it’s because you’re bad at it, not that the interrupt build/gameplay is bad in itself. You’ve just confused the two.
Rofl, PvE.
Roflmao, Lol, omfgtf.
PvE: Acquire biggest stick on hardest hitting class. Continue to face tank while wailing on brainless mobs until they drop loot. If you happen to go down, continue to wail on mob until you rally. Spam F for loot. Profit.
Implying GW2 PvP isn’t pretty casual and easy compared to other multiplayer games.
Regardless of it’s casual or hardcore, even the most idiotic player approaches a challenge with some semblance of thought. NPC’s do not.
I’ve played a fair bit of PvP, I think you are overestimating PvPers.
Thanks, I’ve been trying to say this as the rev information came out but sometimes it feels like I’m talking to a brick wall.
Its not even how strong rev looks compared to the other classes but how everything comes together for it to just make the old classes look outdated and dull. For the base classes to come up to this level they will have to do a massive amount of work on them, more then they have done since the game came out, and that includes new weapons/weapon reworks and trait redesigns not tied to specializations.
Nice to see they are still filling boss fights with lots of aoe and damage zones on the floor so pets, clones and phantasms will still be useless.
Actually the way to solve this isn’t removing aoe and damge zones but making AI smart enough ton know when its standing in an AoE or damage zone. If Anet can accomplish this, pve might actually feel a lot more like pvp. I would very much welcome this.
Now that would be a pretty good way of dealing with the problem.

PVE is braindead as it is, I do not see the problem making Interrupt mesmers a thing, PVP and WvW is where the skill art of interrupting shines not PVE.
And while you are wasting time trying to interrupt people a Celestial ele has come in killed everybody in the area including allies and then ran off to go capture the other two points.
Not to mention PvE is quite clearly the focus of this expansion.

How are they going to sell their expansions and get more money out of you if the base classes are still viable.
wow.
just… wow.
boy am i glad you have no say in the development process of this game.
How can you miss my point that badly?
Nice to see they are still filling boss fights with lots of aoe and damage zones on the floor so pets, clones and phantasms will still be useless.
I’m sure they took that into account while making these fights. Would you rather them make boss fights where you stack on their foot and spam your skills?
Well they haven’t for the last 3 years so I don’t know why they would start now.

Stop being a debbie downer, you must be fun at parties
I actually don’t think about Anets poor balance team that much at parties, I don’t know why you would.

every time someone asked if the base classes will get any love with all the new toys, the devs replied with “keep an eye out for your respective specialization”, which does NOT fill me with hope that the core professions will get any love, because hey, you can just specialize if you want new toys.

So on 1 weapon set it has a fire field and a single skill that does 3 blast finishers? How are people defending this powercreep, its ridiculous..

If anything I would say it is the anti Mesmer. Revenent has had plenty of time to be put together with 3 years of experience in how GW2 is panning out, a very fluid class with lots of interesting and dynamic mechanics and from the sounds of it plenty of support.
Mesmer was the last class introduced and didn’t have time to flesh out before they had to start crunch time to get the game out, it had an interesting idea that is proving not to work in the PvE of the game and is only getting worse as they develop harder pve content, our support consists of feedback bot and we are still waiting for the trait review they said they were going to do back in beta.
Oh but Mesmer is getting yet another off hand weapon now so cool…
Oh Mesmer PvE thread. I agree with Anet on this one. Don’t care.
:p
Kidding. Good luck with your crusade. P.s. Cronomancer might be your savior.
Not with shield it won’t be.
If they get a bow I hope they get longbow instead of shortbow. Much better skins on Longbow.
Greatswords is a safe bet as well.
Thats a lot of words just to say you don’t know how to dodge OP
Part of the reason that Mesmer never gets buffs is on top of all the usual complaints from other classes, every time somebody points out a problem with Mesmer there is always at least 1 Mesmer that comes in with ‘OMG Mesmers are fine learn how to play stop QQing I can take on 10 people at once with my secret sauce build’
Most likely the long way, maybe use some tomes/skill scrolls/insta 20 to get them going.
It definitely needs more then yet another off hand weapon while everybody else is getting 2 handed weapons.
Hopefully Kryta moves in and kicks out those murderous pirates and then rebuild it themselves.

If I am perfectly honest, all Revenants being taught by Rytlock makes me not want to make one.
I don’t want to be the guy who complains about things before we have all the information but it really seems Mesmer is getting the shaft with this. One specialisation means 1 new weapon, Ranger, Engineer and Necromancer are all getting 5 new weapon skills that will most likely fill a hole that players of those classes have been asking for, Mesmers only get 2 skills on a off hand weapon instead of the new mainhand we have asked for and needed for variety.
Depending on if any specializations/the revenant really grabs my attention probably my Human Mesmer, with my Human Ranger and Sylvari Warrior bringing up the rear.
Mursaat was my favourite Guild Wars 1 race and I am glad to see them return and hopefully learn more about them.
Also as an old GW1 player and a fan of the GW1 lore and Ascalon I would much rather be allies with the Mursaat then the Charr.
1) Presuming their are multiple specializations, can we unlock them all on one character and respec into them or is it final?
2) Will my Mesmer ever be able to run fast without focus?
3) Your are saving playable Skritt for my birthday right?
I really want that Staff now, especially as I can make my Ranger a druid.
Been hoping for a new heavy armour class, it being a magical class as well is great.
If it does have some Dervish inspiration then hopefully I can channel some Human Gods.
If specialization change profession mechanics like I have seen some people say, I wonder if they will use this to implement that idea that some devs seemed to like of stowing pets to receive unique buffs
Always wanted them to expand the Nature Magic theme of the Ranger a bit more and I figured the best way to do this was to add a Staff with support and Aoe abilities. Can’t wait to see more of this profession specialization thing and how it works.
Long distance sprinter
I remember ages joking how to go along with GS being our ranged weapon that we should actually get main hand Shield as a one handed power ranged weapon.
Time Wrap CD reduction is nice (though I still think It should be made a Glamour) as is the change to deception (though still a pretty lack luster set of skills), the rest just miss the point completely about what is wrong with the skills as does the general buff to confusion in PvE.
Also still no solution to Mesmers slow speed in Open World and WvW
If they don’t come back tomorrow I am going to write a strongly worded letter to the UN
I would love to be able to use my Mesmer’s underwater weapons on land.
Now can we move on to the more important issue of the lack of bunny ears/sun glasses in the gem store?
You know the thing that would take no effort, wouldn’t move resources away from content that doesn’t remove us from the gameplay/environments/lore that we bought the game for and would actually earn you money?
25% speed buff utility or even trait depending on placement.
Let us use Spear on land.
Boom my Mesmer would have 100% map completion in a day.
I thought the spirits gave the buff out every 10 seconds instead of constantly giving it out with each player having a 10sec cooldown.
Almost every class does have this with either a Signet or some trait. The only classes that I have noticed that suffer are:
Guardian
MesmerThief suffers by not having any decent kind of speed buff via weapon or utility (not talking about their constant speed signet, if I was thief would be above with Mesmer/Guardian), the split second one from stealing (trait I think) is nothing lol…
Steal alone is 10/21 when fully traited. That’s nearly 50% uptime. Then you have the passive signet, Swiftness on dodge, etc. Thief is fastest class by far.
Mesmer doesn’t suffer that much, as they tend to run Berserker builds which work well with the Rune of the Centaur and Mirror (13/15), and the condition Mesmer can always equip a Focus while runnning from A to B.
Guardian is absolutely horrible. You pretty much need to use Staff, Retreat and Save Yourselves (potentially combined with teleports) or waste some of your stats to use either Rune of Speed or Rune of the Traveler.
No real option for purely offensive builds on Guardian whatsoever.
Rune of the Centaur is horrible for Mesmers, as is using your heal on cooldown for speed buffs. Constantly swapping focus in and out doesn’t really put them on par with other classes either.
Shame they nerfed our jump finishers.
It was obviously done to deal with the few instances where you could save an attack from one boss to one shot a boss later in a dungeon.
Unfortunately they replaced one of our more interesting skills with a boring plain weak one.
First thing I did in pvp was log into my mesmer and throw together some crappy glass canon condi shatter mostly to try out scepter and staff changes, obviously Rangers were everywhere.
Not a single rapidfire killed me though because I knew how to dodge, activate my block or use scenery to block them. If I can do that I’m sure people with good builds can.
They’ll keep nerfing and nerfing it and other traits it uses until they realise the torment on scepter was the problem and nerf that without touching any of the traits they made useless or broke in its wake.
