Guardians are nothing like Monks.
It’s like saying a coconut is just like a kiwi.
does the coconut have 22 of the Kiwi’s skills?
How about this.
Remove hot join in general.
more people playing team q, solo q & next game mode to come out
if you want my unload thief, conjure weapons ele and sniper longbow warrior on your team then sure, but don’t you even think about moaning that i’m not using competitive “meta” builds or that my ranger is off point.
these builds are fun to play in hotjoin where you can have a bit of fun without rank being on the line (and no these builds are not useless, they’re just not cookie cutting meta clones)
also until suckhammer is removed from rotation i will NEVER play soloQ.
removing spvp is not an option
fixing it is.
edit to the people thinking its about winning or losing, nope.
its about the experience, hotjoin used to be so much fun back when it was 8v8 with fixed teams, but these landslide matches with team selecting/swapping exploiters ruining every game ARE NOT fun.
we want the fun back, its not about the match result.
(edited by Liewec.2896)
as a pvper its very different, i’m not sure i could say which is better between certain classes so i’ll put it in tiers
tier 1: god tier:
Warrior(hambow/condi cancer), Engi (turrets/condis), ele (only celestial)
tier 2: high tier:
thief (condi/glass), guard (mediguard)
tier 3: mid tier:
ele (all except celestial), mesmer
tier 4: low tier:
necro, ranger
obviously it will vary based on skill, a well played shatter or PU mesmer can be OP, assume standard player vs standard player for this list.
I really don’t understand why anyone gives a kitten about wins in hotjoin.
its not so much the win i care about, just the experience,
i can have a well balanced 5v5 and lose and still have fun,
similarly being on the side that gets the spectator abusers isn’t fun because you steamroll and either end up standing around with noone to fight or spawn camping.
onesided matches always suck.
its not about the win or lose
this exploit needs to go by next patch!
If it weren’t an outfit, I might have considered getting it for using various bits of it. But I don’t like it as a whole. I don’t even like outfits as a concept.
yup this^
they’d make a ton of cash if they took the short time it would take to split outfits in to separate parts.
i can’t think of a single outfit that doesn’t have parts i’d want,
while also there is no complete outfit that i want.
c’mon anet you’re missing out on cash!
everytime i make a ninja costume they always end up just black XD
(they’re ninja’s afterall!) black, black and more black!
Mursaat.
/thread
the crytal bit definately made me think of the Jades :-3
we also know that the mursaat have huge ties to the Bloodstone in maguuma jungle (which we seem to be heading towards)
Stop playing hot join problem solved.
who cares it’s hotjoin..
thank you for your extremely useful input on how to improve the quality of the game…
A) stop playing it, tadaa!
we really do need a fractal track, even if the drop rates are extremely low or the track is ridiculously long,
i want a chance at getting the tonic!
what you need:
tonics. (with costume brawl skills), the endless mystery beast tonic is great for this!
a scepter.
head to the pvp mists and go to the waypoint to the west with all of the target dummies,
find the dummy that is running around, by the broken wall.
now you need to auto attack it from a distance,
after the third auto attack in the chain (while the Ether Clone projectile is flying) quickly click your tonic!
if you did it right your clone will be using whatever tonic you have!
complete with costume brawl skills!
they’ll all be trying to hit the golem but end up hitting eachother
(and you when you join in!)
note: this works on every enemy, but that dummy is the only one that i know of that doesn’t keep you in combat (even with your clones up!) so you can costume brawl :-3
and dont worry Anet, you don’t gain any progress in the costume brawl achievements, so this is totally harmless, just a bit of fun!
great for entertaining yourself during long tournament queues! :-3
not my video, but i think this guy wins the troll award XD
my greatest trolling moment was probably last week during the keyfarming buff
putting down a banquet on an NPC that the keyrunners need to talk to (so they accidentally use the banquet, flagging them for costume brawl) and then blasting them all with a cannon sending them all flying, trololol XD
it works for banks and trading posts too!
No one is going to be banned for mild trolling in a casual screw around part of the game.
If you want proper matches structured to your desires but still unranked, buy your own server. Can’t afford it? Ask around, you can get access to locked servers pretty easily ppl are pretty lenient with that. If not join in empty rooms and hope not to get trolled by randoms.
its not trolling, its exploiting, while i agree that i don’t realistically think anet will ban people for it, the question needs to be asked, why not? why not investigate it and throw out temp bans to discourage exploiters, or better yet, why not fix it?!
if people find a way to easily make gold they get perma banned fast (as we saw in the early stages of the game when lots of players were banned for exploiting a flaw in the system), this should be taken even more seriously since it abusing a flaw in the competitive side of the game (pvp) directly diminishing the experience of everyone in the match.
as to your suggestions, custom arenas just don’t fill up fast enough, or have ridiculous score limits like 1000, or other rules, the official server rules are perfect for me.
final words, casual doesn’t mean a stressful, pointless, exploitable landslide match,
casual should by just like rated matches except with less meta and a more of a relaxed attitude,
there is no excuse for people exploiting spvp under the blanket excuse of “well its just casual” yes its casual, so we’d all like to enjoy our casual time and not have 3v5s!
i really hope anet do something about team select and spectator by next patch,
or remove both entirely!
thats hardly as game breaking as engis being able to precast things before entering a fight. (I.E slotting skills/kits and using toolbar skills or kit skills and then switching back to the skills they plan on using.)
some tasters of things an engi can precast:
Medkit Stimulant (can be put down to grant fury when the fight begins, or used for swiftness to get to places.)
Bandages (can be put down to offer a pretty large amount of health)
Incendiary Ammo (can be used to grant 9 secs of burning)
Super Speed (pretty amazing if you grab an orb on Spirit Watch and no enemies are around, slot slick shoes, hit super speed and switch back)
plus more combos than you can count like
Throw Napalm + Rumble + Big Ole Bomb = 6 stacks of might for 20 seconds
yaaaay another AI build.
at what point can we stop calling players watching their AI fight eachother “PVP”?
just be glad they haven’t (yet) added the “Raiment of the Lich” GW1 set that was data-mined.
otherwise literally every female char would be wearing it!
the sexiest most bad-kitten look in the game.
imho outfits need to be broken into armour pieces like they were before wardrobe so we can utilize parts into our appearance.
plus it’d make anet a ton of money
they had plenty of better options,
but in true anet fashion they went with what was easiest.
1. they could have upscaled asurans by 20-30% in pvp (or gave us an option to do so)
but for whatever reason they decided not to do this…
probably because it would require work with effect scaling.
2. they could have altered the asuran animations to be more easily read,
this would have been the best cause of action but this would require them to do some work, and they do not like work!.
3. they could have made the system only standardise the model of asurans.
lets be real here, the only reason for this standardisation is asurans.
4. they could have made the standard human model still show your armour/weapons,
but this would require more work than just plastering the same ugly model on to everyone.
in terms of game impact this is’nt as big of a blunder as spectator/team select in spvp (i have no idea why that is still in game…)
but it will drastically lower the experience as the OP stated (it will seem like fighting the same default NPCs over and over) and also impact all future outfit/armour sales.
why would anyone care what your enemy thinks.
because “Foegore the Giant” should look like this…
not some skinny rank 1 human!Let me guess, Foegore is the tiny white-haired asura, right? :p
lol XD
if only i did play asurans and deserved to be neutered XD
but unfortunately only one of my ten chars is an asuran, but all of them will be turned into default clones by this change.
one of them is already human and uses the 3000g greatsaw skin, so for them to get transformed into a noob with default greatsword is kinds hilariously ridiculous.
asura is the problem, fix asura. don’t nerf us all!
By the way OP, Spectate Mode abuse is impossible when a match is 5v5.
the match is never 5v5 until a good 80-90% of the way through it, once the spectator exploiters have solidified their cheap win.
as the title says, exploiting the currently flawed spectator mode and team select combo in spvp should be seen as an exploit, because that is exactly what it is.
you ban exploiters. correct? so ban these scrubs that are ruining ever single match!
they are breaking your code of conduct
“While participating in Plaver-vs-Player (PvP) gameplay, you will not participate in any form of match manipulation.”
joining the winning team and causing the losing team to permanently be outnumbered (resulting in the landslide victories every time.) is match manipulation.
it is literally every single match…ruined because of exploiters.
(edited by Liewec.2896)
bravo to winners, and great costumes everyone
“oh loading screen…..erm……”
(30 seconds later)
“erm….classes…erm….”
(20 seconds later loading screen finishes)
ouch XD
this was indeed painful to watch
what happened to the anet guys from pre-release? they were uber good at this.
I wish Anet would introduce an equally prestegius armor set, that could be craftable through PVE rewards and activities.
pve only?
prestigious?
craftable?
you mean like your ascended armour?…
honestly its starting to annoy me that when pvp finally get something unique you all complain about how you have nothing despite the dozens of Living world/holiday rewards that were only acquirable for a short time and only in pvp, plus you already have your legendaries, ascended weapons, asscended armour, you have SO MUCH.
give me your legendaries, give me your living world back items, give me your ascended weapons and armour and then you can complain about our armour set!
or maybe give us option to make asuras bigger (there is even model from this box of fun ) or let us turn on standard model only on asuras ? sounds a bit crap I spent a lot of gold on my char 4 legendaries and now iam gona look like human low lvl crap ;(
this this THIS!^
asuras are the problem, only asuras should get model swapped.
its especially strange that anet are fine with noobifying all of us none asura players too,
i know for me this will likely mean the end of outfit purchases
anet, makes the noobification option for asuras only!
why would anyone care what your enemy thinks.
because “Foegore the Giant” should look like this…
not some skinny rank 1 human!
Wait, so everyone will look the same? I can’t see the outfit styles of the enemy? They release that at the same time as new PvP reward armor?
Hopefully I am wrong with what I said above. Otherwise, it is just another bad decision.
its an option, so it can be turned off for you personally but lets be realistic, everyone will have it on due to the asura issues, so yep, now you will look like just another rank 1 clone no matter what race you are or how much time, gold and real world cash you’ve spent on your look.
Anet: “upscaling asuran characters was not the answer we were looking for”
but making everyone look like a noob was? bravo anet,
one more fail for your impressively large collection!
R.I.P outfit sales.
the golem made by these runes spams an aoe whirl that constantly knocks back…
NO THANK YOU
you might aswell be asking for perplexity runes
that being said, i do love runes with precision and ferocity, so if they made a pvp version with a toned down golem then i’d be very happy
well as standard models will make us all look like rank1 noobs anyway it doesn’t really matter
RIP my 3000g greatsaw skin. hello ugly basic greatsword…standard models ftl.
option to make asuras 30% larger ftw.It doesn’t change your character model, only your enemies. L2R.
that is what i was implying…L2RBTL
to your enemies you will look like a rank 1 rabbit no matter if your char was already human or how much time/gold/real world money you’ve spent on your appearance.
asuras are the issue
they should just make asuras larger in pvp, it doesn’t even need to be by much.
well as standard models will make us all look like rank1 noobs anyway it doesn’t really matter
RIP my 3000g greatsaw skin. hello ugly basic greatsword…
standard models ftl.
option to make asuras 30% larger ftw.
Internet crowd: you can never please ’em!
i dunno, on the blog post it said “upscaling asurans is not an option” why?
why should everyone else get their model turned into a rank 1 rabbit because people are abusing the small race?
i have a giant norn (with “the giant” in his name)who will now look like a rank 1 human,
i have a kitted out warrior with the 3000g greatsaw skin which will now look like the dull horrible greatsword you buy from the vendor.
yes asurans had an advantage and it needed fixing, but why turn EVERYONE into a rank 1 scrub?
why not just give us the option to make asuras 30% larger in pvp.
not to mention that adding this at the same time as they finally add a pvp armour is just hilariously ironic.
shall we list the huge number of pve skins that aren’t available in pvp?
or one time only pve skins that we’ll never have a chance to get?
that depends, when can PVPers get your Wings of the Sunless?
as a primarily pvp player i’d be kinda insulted if PVEers were given our unique reward but still get to keep all of theirs.
i’ve always said that they should REMOVE the condi cap and allow conditions to stack from multiple players, BUT conditions should be affected by toughness and damage mitigation.
also they’d have to keep the healing reduction from Poison to strictly 1 stack but the damage portion could still stack.
one good change would be that when you purchase an armor set rather than giving you all of the pieces on one character it unlocks the pieces in the wardrobe and gives you the corresponding number of transmuation charges, so 5 transmutation charges for 5 piece sets, or 3 charges for things like Lawless Boots which unlocks just boots for the 3 weight classes.
its a buff for me, all of my builds are very crit oriented so i usually pile in signets and run with deep strike i have SoR just for the extra precision and passive adrenaline and i never click it, so woo!
funny, because that very same night i ANNIHILATED a hambow warrior multiple times on my phantasm mesmer
i agree that hambow is too good for how easy it is to play,
but as a mesmer you should be kicking their butt!
i hate people who type “L2P” so i’ll just think it instead.
Rangers are just beyond the pale. Too much range multiple pets and way too much DPS stealth and mobility as well…

its only fair that pvpers keep the armour sets, besides, they aren’t even that great! unlike wings of the sunless!
Then it should only be fair that PvPers should be able to continue earning the PvP skins through reward tracks.
Oh wait, they can’t anymore.
and pve’ers can’t get their Wings of Sunless anymore
both are relics of the past now.
i got 2 scraps in the same farm earlier this week :-3
total i’ve had 33 scraps, never a full ticket drop.
been keyrunning for along time now but its mostly boosters
i’ve had that happen in the “on the mend” mission too, big nose ted and twitch jake have had a fight XD
If I use 2 sigils of fire do they share a cooldown?
yep, all ranks of the same sigil minor/major/superior all share cooldown
answer to OP would depend on your crit chance, anywhere around or about 60% just go with fire+air, but if you’re around 50% then you might want to grab Accuracy.
in some builds with ridiculous amounts of ferocity (bonus crit damage) its worth getting as high crit chance as possible instead of using fire/air, but in most cases fire and air are the way to go.
imho its nice that there are things that are no longer obtainable,
pve has plenty such as Air Filtration Device and Wings of the Sunless
it is a sign that “i was here”.
its only fair that pvpers keep the armour sets, besides, they aren’t even that great! unlike wings of the sunless!
unobtainable “oldschool” rewards are one of the best things about MMOs!
they give the veterans something flashy to wave around.
though i may be a bit biast since i’m in the small percent of people who have the Greatsaw from 2012 ;-3
i love the mega server, the game feels alive again!
no matter where you are or what time it is, you will always encounter people
probably my favourite character, Kitty Bloodbath!
i themed her whole costume to have a sort of psychotic-industrial vibe XD
parts:
Head: Glowing Crimson Mask
Shoulder: Aetherblade
Gloves: Aetherblade
Chest: Gladiator
Legs: Gladiator
Boots: Studded Plate
Weapon: the quintessential Greatsaw
Dyes: Ebony and Ruby,
i tried with expensive dyes like abyss instead of ebony, but it was too dark to match the greatsaw.
(edited by Liewec.2896)
Q: what direction is this class taking?
A: unload, unload, UNLOAD, UNLOAD, UNLOAD, UNLOAD!

constant health regen is a very tricky thing to balance, if it was ever made useful then everyone would use it (speaking in a pvp scenario)
at one point i was using dolyak runes on a regen banner warrior with healing signet and adrenal health, in a 1v1 i could literally just stand there and not die…
i had to ditch that build in favour of shouts and soldier runes because condi builds with spammable poison became too popular.
regen is a very tricky thing to balance and very easily becomes OP.
