As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.
i’d like staff to be melee, with a mix of support/control with a power scale of necro dagger on the auto attack.
ranger has 2(3 if you count dagger), however the wiki lists them as melee specialists. now this could be covered by the other specialization, or the insane hope that staff is melee and that vine-ray-thing was it’s immobilize.
anyone else agree/disagree? i only use bows/axes on ranger because they’re sort of needed in wvw but i prefer to fight in melee.
Reaper. Just like with the staff 1 whenever a necro swing a GS the black smoke scythe appear.
that would be amazing.
that old chestnut, map completion P.V.E.
see when i think staff weapon, i hope for a fighting style like Darth Maul. expecting too much?
i’m starting to think this is a ‘lol i can trick them’ thread.
maybe you should’ve hidden the skillbar if that’s the case.
Not a Trenchcoat: Engineer Edition
not much of anything lol
I do, too, Lightsbane, but it sounds like that will not be happening in the expansion.
better for them to just delete those weapons from the game then.
i want a land version of how spear works underwater. really badly.
honestly, if spear is the other option for the weapon choice i’ll be going for that. wouldn’t that be awesome?
i was hoping staff would be melee, but i guess we can’t seem to get out of the ‘staffs are only for mages’ thing.
Stealth is good. And no, the thief is in a really bad place right now. I can auto-attack a thief to death with my engi, I will kill him or get my objective no matter how many time he stealths. Stealth is good, losing to a thief is pretty bad. Maybe if you’re another thief you’d have an excuse for not winning a 1 vs 1.
thief might be in a better place if stealth was not so…spammable. i’ve never played an mmo where you can gain stealth/invisibility off of a skill used in combat with zero cooldown. stealth is also why some thief weapon sets are weaker than others(dual pistols vs dual daggers)
can i ask the point of something like this if…
-there’s no player to player trading
-there’s no open world pvp
-there’s no real way to get any benefit out of guild alliances save for social benefitsSure you can, how about:
- Smaller guilds can remain small while having more players to play content with
- Guild Missions, maybe fire off Alliance Missions instead of for 1 guild?
- Social benefits
first two are accomplished by having a friends list and alternate guilds.

Pretty hyped. I should probably wait on getting my predator now.
you definitely should. this legendary does not fit engineer at all.
RIP warrior. Unless ANET want to get serious about warriors and stop throwing us under the bus and blaming us for other players getting beat by us when they lack any skill than warrior is ded profession.
‘stop throwing us under the bus’ said like someone who’s never played anything but a button masher class.
i run axe/axe and greatsword in wvw and it works out pretty well.
There are those of us that have not allowed our hopes to be raised. That way we won’t be disappointed but may be happily surprised. To answer your question though – People were raging before, having them continue to do so afterwards would be no different.
honestly, my hopes are somewhat high, but i always expect the worst. i’ll probably just sigh really heavily and take a break from the game.
See the attached image.
“I HAVE SEEN SOME THINGS.”
‘if there are further inquiries, that experimental potion…WORKS. i have been up for DAYS’
i’m more excited about the fact that i saw a spear being used on land. please anet? please?
Theme. Elemetnalists, Rangers, and Thieves are all supposed to be mobile, hence the 25% movement speed signet. Necromancers are supposed to be extremely difficult to escape, hence the same thing.
necromancers are supposed to be extremely difficult to escape. by far one of the easiest classes to escape in the game.
Lightsbane, I kind of understand your point in that there’s far more to get in PvE than WvW, however they are much more easilly accessible and not hidden behind fortified walls that can be defended by enemy hoardes. Getting some particular points can be difficult especially if your server is particularly weak or doesn’t rotate to a given colour. You can legitimately try for days, or weeks to get a given PoI in WvW yet any PvE map can be earned within 2-3 hours.
Bandito Baba, I do somewhat feel your pain, however you’ve made choices. You have chosen to pursue a legendary and as such you’re going through WvW map completion. It is something that you particularly do not enjoy yet you’re doing so because you want the carrot on the end of the stick. The same in regard to the Exotic Waterbreather. There is comparatively little underwater combat and our existing gear is more than sufficient yet you’ve chosen to pursue this given item. You’ve made a decision that the end item to you was worth the time spent in PvP to earn it.
You have made choices concerning how it is that you wish to play the game, and now you’re here complaining about the choices you have made. I understand your frustrations, yet I do not sympathize.
that’s my point, to get over it, and i did, i got over it. now i’m back doing what i prefer to do. just complaining without understanding there’s two sides to this argument, is a bit ill advised. pve map completion felt longer than it was(and took me weeks to do because it was so mindbendingly boring), and i guess i was one of those rare people that ran for the hills to get my wvw maps complete when enemies weren’t on it.
this is the advert
i imagine Square Enix might have something to say about the title artwork as well lol
Gee I have never seen this thread before.
because there are always pvers who feel entitled.
I would like to not be known as a PVE’er, PVP’er or WvW’er…
I want to be known as a GW2 player, I enjoy all facets of this great game. I get so tired of trolls, and full time complainers. There is way more to do on this forum than gripe and threaten.
that’s fine with me, fortunately it was a general statement. and you’re right, there’s more than enough griping, however this is kind of a subject i’ve recently dealt with. i had to do pve world completion for my frostfang, so it kind of irks me when people complain about doing wvw map completion like it’s on anywhere near the scale of pve map completion.
Gee I have never seen this thread before.
because there are always pvers who feel entitled.
this is like saying ‘i shouldn’t have to do wvw for map completion’ i feel the same way about pve for map completion. get over it, in other words.
i’m curious how much experience you have in each category to come up with that list.
before the days of the tonics, i had the baseball cap, witch’s outfit(the old one) and devil horns. Since the update that included the tonics, i’ve noticed that all the old outfits i collected before said update…vanished. completely. gone. i see people walking around with the devil horns(i was on the day anet gave them out) and it kind of bugs me, and then i remember how cool the original witch’s outfit was, and yep, that’s gone too. i’m sure other people have noticed this issue as well, i’ve just sort of..neglected it. Now that i’m getting into the RP side of the game, these outfits would actually be nice to have, since i had them to begin with, it’s a bit frustrating that they aren’t there any more.
So what gives?
IMHO If the level cap rises , The majority of players will leave.
Horizontal progression, remember? You will stay lvl 80 forever. You might get extra trait points, OR you might get other weapons and skills, but If they make all characters lvl 90 this game will cease. Anything could happen, but lvl 90: NEVER!
It would mean all work on armors is voided, It would mean people who have 4,5 10 or even 60 alts have to get compoletely new gear for all characters. and weapons and trinkets. NO WAY!
It would make all effort and all money spend until now completely useless. Also it would mean you have a solo RPG from that moment on. If people wanted vertical progression they could have chosen a lot of compeditors. We are here to play with our virtual Barbies
And I like it.
I wouldn’t mean more options though
i’ve played games where level cap increases quite often, no, not WoW. and i never saw it as ‘oh all my time before this date has been wasted’ i saw it as ‘cool, something else to do in the game! awesome! i can be even stronger!’ i have problems with them leaving the level cap as is, nor do i have a problem with them increasing it. i’m curious where you’re getting these arguments from to be honest. ‘gw2 with a level cap increase would be a solo rpg’, welllll SWTOR just had a level cap increase, far from a solo rpg. now, had you assumed (incorrectly) that everyone had full ascended everything(which most don’t see as necessary, as the jump from exotic armor to ascended isn’t too noticeable.), you’d have somewhat of a point, since the grind from 400 crafting to 500 is enormous, however, people like me, who can’t be bothered with PvE(yes theres more to this game than pve for those of you who haven’t yet ventured outside of it), really don’t care about ascended crafting at all, save for aesthetics.
i guess my point is, if you play the game for the pve you’ll be upset, if you don’t, it’s really not a problem.

i like this sort of trading because it creates a relationship with customers, IE, “oh i’ll buy from this guy since his supply is reliable and his deals are reasonable.” i also like it because it means there’s no middleman taking away profits(BLTC for example) every game i’ve played that had player shops also had a functioning auction house so that cuts out any convenience problems. the other thing i don’t like about the BLTC is that it’s kind of a monopoly, since it’s the only way players are able to sell things to each other(somehow the BLTC/operators of BLTC hasn’t realized this, not a very attentive trading organization) theoretically it could charge whatever it wanted for transactions.
That is because it would look stupid? Yeah it’s not that hard is it…
Thanks for your personal opinion, I on the other hand don’t like the way 95% of the pistol look like because they look oldfashioned.
In Tyria there are alot technological advanced gadgets, so I don’t see why modern looking pistols wouldn’t fit.
And if you like the oldfashioned pistols then you have a big choice, so I don’t see why you would care if modern skins would be added.
Add to that there are already 3-4 modern looking skins, so your argument is weak.
‘because they look old fashioned’ ‘your argument is weak’
the ‘irl timeline of guild wars 2 technology’ is pretty much best equated to the 16th century(pistols weren’t even a thought in the 13th century as you described in the op) and almost all of them then were mostly match or flint locks. thanks to glorious magic and charr ingenuity, guild wars 2’s pistols are somehow magazine fed. I don’t want these pistols or rifles looking any more modern than the late 1800’s. otherwise things will just get flat out ridiculous.
with that said, we have peacemakers and something that looks like a winchester ‘76. is more of those types what you’re looking for?
what about giving scythe to guardian or necro(mostly necro)? new weapons are overdue anyway.
I just google image searched “Battlemage”. Let’s see… we’ve got… people in robes, people in armour, people in clothing, a bikini or two…
So to me, it looks like asking if “battlemage armour” can be a thing is like asking if we could please get practically anything to wear.
In which case, we already have battlemage armour! Request pre-granted.
battlemage armor implies(impressed you’ve never come across the term and had to google it) robes mixed with some form of protective light metalworks.
I have come across the term.
Problem is, “battlemage” doesn’t mean the same thing to everyone, clearly, given the varied results from Google. So asking for “battlemage armour” without giving an example of what “battlemage” means doesn’t help.
battlemage is a mage that fights on the frontline, and considering every magic using class in this game does that, maybe light armor can start to reflect it.

Can this be a thing please? Some diversity in the light armor skin variety would be awesome. Medium armor too.
Deathshroud is your ranged weapon :S Staff damage is weak with the exception of #4 and scepter is a condition weapon. Unless you plan on running a condition build lifeblast is your best ranged option.
shouldn’t call DS a ranged weapon.
a leap on a weapon would solve so much. but no, we haven’t earned it yet.
I’m very sorry guys that you have that much problems with the necro.I played necro since betas i’m a very good necro player now and i tend to think that if i can do it everybody can. You guys just need to practice a lot, read all traits and make your own build, learn positioning. There’s no magic build that will make you win by itself you(the player) need skills earned with playtime.
well that was very pretentious and condescending, thank you.

‘A feature release is not an expansion, it’s a release focused on game features. Examples of game features we’ve done in the past would be: guild missions, account achievement system, spectator mode, new pvp maps, daily world boss chests, removing culling and giving visibility options, the WvW WxP system, etc.’

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Feature-Patch-Polish-not-contentI’m not referring to what they said feature packs will be. I am suggesting that ArenaNet completely changes the current objective of the feature packs team in order to add to the core of the game.
they do this by living story. now had you said additional weapons or something like that, that’d be a feature pack. there are some living story content updates that introduced things that no one does anymore, and there are others that people do all the time(tequatl, wurms)
kinda funny you mentioned that, since bleeding most certainly affects total life force.
well it’s a good thing i said or land spear. i’m basically tired of using staff, it does absolutely nothing for me.
If we ever revisit Elona, I would totally swoon if Arenanet decided to add an Anubis-like race.
Complete with the ability to wield polearm weapon types.
i can see it now, magical upright jackals invade the god hating magic fearing upright cats.
How would you rework staff?
i would rework it into a more melee based approach, because it dawns one me that 2/4 marks in the staff’s skill list would fit really well into a melee weapon. Chillblains is a really nice slow, which could keep enemies in melee range, and reaper’s mark would be fine as it is. marks instead of having range, they would be applied similarly to how wells are used, directly under the caster’s current position. Could even meld spear/staff into one weapon, keeping wicked spiral, but making it into a different animation to fit a staff, would also mean that the scythe animation stays around until the weapon is stowed(thus perhaps eliminating the desire for a scythe weapon?) the weapon would also get a whirl-pull, like spear#4,
so, we have the auto attack chain on number 1, number 2 wicked spiral under a different name/animation, number 3 would still be chillblains, number 4 would be spear#4 under a different name/animation, and number 5 would be reapers mark.
those are my ideas anyway.
i honestly want ranger to use spear like a double bladed lightsaber. yay dreams.
be it vigil, priory or whispers, i’m having trouble finding the ranks of (specifically the order of whispers) each of the orders, can anyone provide a link or …anything?
now that i’m thinking about it, i don’t want this marjory using greatsword to be a necro thing. i want whatever marjory is to be an entirely new class, one that perhaps has a better future and present than necromancer.
call it shadow knight, deathbringer, count sockula, or the whirling potato, i’m sure it’ll work better than necromancer across the board.
I think the biggest problems necromancer have is that their healing traits (siphons, spite 13 etc.) apart from unholy sanctuary dont work in DS. Changing this would certainly help necromancers sustain alot and due the rather low numbers on those traits i also dont think that this will be op.
the problem i’m noticing when it comes to balancing necro, or at least how it’s been ‘balanced’ is that necromancers are either gods or count chocula. siphon traits are all over the place, making it impossible to make effective builds around them(they wouldn’t be effective anyway) we have skills that would be useful, save cast time and cool down(flesh wurm and dark pact respectively) minions are borderline useless.
greataxe should be a harder hitting version of greatsword, and swung maybe a bit slower. not having any ‘flurry’ skills, but mostly whirls.
well if you ever want to find the least skilled players in the game, EOTM is the place to do it. and by that i mean be a guardian with a hammer and press 4.
yeah i want to get rid of sword really badly. all for this.
