But he’s been dead over 200 hundred years. Why bother? They should at least finish out the rest of the six gods before bothering with defunct deities.

i’ll see your point and raise you one revenant.

What does revenant have to do with anything? Revenants don’t channel gods and they don’t channel Abaddon. The worst they have is Shiro and Mallyx. Both were powerful, sure, but Abaddon was a god. You can’t really compare them.

So I will dismiss your point and raise you the fact that we already have a Balthazar and Dwayna outfit. Pretty logical extension to think we would get the others at some point. Grenth would sell amazingly well. Though I don’t think Kormir would fair well unless it looks amazing.

oh, they only channel dead legendary warriors.
your tl; dr post kind of ignored that fact, aka, no reason they can’t bring the outfit into the game.

Power Vs Condition? Nay. Powerful Conditions.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lightsbane.9012

I should just write a word document to copy-paste this in each time.

There are a number of reasons why it’s fair for condition builds to usually be beefier than max-damage Power builds. The first point is that max-damage Power builds typically have a DPS that is 2-3 times that of a condition build in the average scenario and explode beyond that in perfect situations, as high kitten times the damage output. Now, these numbers are subject to change with the update to conditions, but Power will still most likely be the higher DPS against all but the most heavily armored targets.

Second point is that conditions inherently have stronger counterplay options due to their ability to be cleansed. Power builds don’t have to worry about an attack they landed only dealing ~5% of its damage. Condition builds do.

Third, conditions lack multipliers. They can’t crit, they don’t benefit from % damage boosts, no Sigil of Force/Slaying/Potions/etc. They also lack divisors in the form of armor, damage reduction, and Protection and Weakness. Vulnerability changing will be the first multiplier they get.

Finally, condition builds need to be beefy. They have no choice but to wait for their damage to actually work, so they have to be able to survive long enough. Defensive stats are necessary.

rebuttal: conditions are a form of passive damage, even if it doesn’t tick right away.

death's charge: step in the right direction

Lightsbane.9012

May have said this before, I really wish death’s charge was on the greatsword. We need a leap outside of reaper’s shroud.
I’m hoping that the cooldown of the pull isn’t as huge as it is right now as it is at launch, because if it’s too long, it won’t get much use (IE dark pact, that cooldown is -huge- for a 3 second immobilize. net shot is 1k-1.2k range on a 10 second cooldown untraited)
If ANet really wants to make us the kings of sustain , our gap closer abilities need to be on a lower cooldown than they are right now. I seriously hope they consider lowering the cooldown of dark pact to reflect it’s usefulness(cooldown needs to be reduced by 33% minimum)
Otherwise, the leap is a good thing. It’s something necromancer’s haven’t had before that they’ve needed desperately, especially for builds like mine.

After taking a bit of time doing some very basic research and thinking about what the engineer could possibly get, they said one profession is getting a bundle of signets, and the only profession that doesn’t currently have them available as an option is engineer.

Thoughts?

I really don’t want engineers to have signets, if they got them i’d never use them.

Lightsbane.9012

Deaths Charge looks horrible. It has a one second cast time / windup, and the actual charge isn’t so hot either.

Like warrior staff banner charge, the skill is no better than running to your enemy with swiftness. You wolnt be able to gap close with this and you wolnt be able to increase your land-speed with this.

Nor do you get any evade while you are charging. You’re actually a sitting duck like the ranger sword auto attack root.

Also it’s a reaper shroud skill, so you can’t count on it always being available to you. Using reaper shroud to get movement forfeits your defense.

Then when it hits, you inflict not cripple or chill but poison, which does nothing to stop an enemy from kiting you (the whole reason you needed a gap close to begin with).

At least there’s a blast finisher (ofc blasting a water field wolnt heal you).

like i said in the OP, it’s a step in the right direction, not an entire renaissance. Besides, i don’t imagine using this much as a gap closer as much as a gap creator. I’m not sure why they’re so hellbent on making necromancers unbearably slow, but this leap, it’s something.

Does crafting ever INCREASE value?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lightsbane.9012

Lightsbane.9012

Something that has always irked me with just about every MMORPG I’ve ever played, is that the ingredients to make an item are expensive, while the end result is borderline worthless.

For example, way back in the day, playing runescape, I finally got to the level to make adamantium armor… and find out that players often give those out FOR FREE?!

Now I understand why, because crafting TAKES NO TIME OR SKILL.
It simply converts useful items that are time consuming and difficult to acquire into exp and a less useful item that took little time or effort to turn it into that.
Most of these MMOs have ZERO depth to crafting, its just… select items, press craft, boom you’re done.

Why does it have to be this way? How do you make it so crafting something is better than just mining and selling materials? It has always been a money sink, and for what purpose? It’s better to just mine some materials, sell them, and buy what you need.

You’re right, it’s a shame that crafting is what it is in most MMORPG’s. Some game’s don’t do this though, such EQ2, you had to pay attention while crafting or your end result would be terrible. I think GW2 could use a crafting overhaul to be honest, there’s no real reason to do it outside of a legendary and ascended weapons (maybe armor). And to get those you have to max something. Sadly it’s not about the journey in that system, it is in fact about the destination. I never cared about what i could make between 1-499, just cared about what i could make at 500, an ascended greatsword.

death's charge: step in the right direction

in Necromancer

Posted by: Lightsbane.9012

Lightsbane.9012

The reason it’s on Reaper’s Shroud is because it’s the Dark Path substitute. It inherits traits that affect dark path, and serves the same function. RS needs the same approximate tools as DS. IT also makes thematic sense; the greatsword is a slow, plodding, heavy hitting weapon, whereas Reaper’s Shroud is fast and maniacal. The slow weapon pulls you towards it, while the fast one leaps at you.

like i said, a step in the right direction.
Lowering the cooldown of dark pact would be another step in said direction.

death's charge: step in the right direction

in Necromancer

Posted by: Lightsbane.9012

Lightsbane.9012

while I think the new replacement for dark path is a step in the right direction, giving a much needed leap, i really think this should’ve been on the greatsword instead of the pull move.
But since the design for necro is a laughable form of attrition(a single knockdown and i’m dead in a wvw setting) is it right to be optimistic for something so small as this new leap?

Something Anet should seriously consider: a trait that reduces or even eliminates the cast times for minion skills for obvious reason, the wurm being practical.

Lightsbane.9012

So, i crafted the Foefire’s Essence and i’m using now for 4 days i think.

But i’m starting to regret it.

I wanted because of the look, because i wanted my character to use something expensive and hard to get and because i wanted people to look and comment and say: “hey, nice GS!” “wow, that is an amazing GS, can i see it?

But no, people just don’t give a kitten , but if i was wearing a Sunrise ( i wouldn’t go for Twilight because it doesn’t fit for my guardian [personal thing] ), things would be different.

I think it’s because the ascalonian GS and Cobalt are kinda similar you know, one is blue with a ghost fog/flame and the other one has a very well done (imo) blue flame effect and then people kinda don’t see anything amazing or nice about the Foefire.

Now i feel like i just wasted time and i should have put the GS to sell for 470g.

argh, i hate myself.

:(

Will HOT be the end of the GW series

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Lightsbane.9012

Lightsbane.9012

I ask this as a GW1 player and GW2 since Beta. I just see current GW2 as a huge zerg fest (Silverwastes as an example). Once you have finished PvE story there is not much else to do once you have done the dungeons.

There is a lot riding on GW2 Heart Of Thorns (HOT), there is so much competition around for the PC Gamer (Witcher 3 is awesome). I love GW and GW2…but I am so bored with GW2 that I now just log on daily to get my reward and log back off.

I know I am not the only one,, as most of my friends from GW1 and GW2 are the same. Really hoping that GW2HoT can excite us again… with PvE…we do not need the huge zerg fests that are currently occuring in GW2… just so boring… Give us some real story… (Instanced) If people want zerg fests then go to WvW.

All the best looking forward to HOT.

PvE in any sense is completely unchallenging, and i don’t see that that’ll ever change. I guess for me HOT means something different: a whole new way to face other professions that i’m not used to. a chance to re-adapt, and become as good at the new specs as i am at the old ones. Difference being, PvE fights will almost always be the same. Fractals for example, the fights don’t change as much as they get more annoying(not harder). And it becomes a sort of gear treadmill, earning ascended pieces and opening up agony resist slots.
You will eventually beat all of it all over again, while I will always be learning how to be a better fighter in WvW, because players are smarter than AI. (Usually)
I’m not trying to bash PvErs at all so i’m sorry if it seems that way, but up until now ‘stacking’ has been the way to eliminate bosses in almost all areas of PvE content. Can you stack to fight a player? No. Can you stacking save you in a duel? No. While zerging is important in WvW there’s a lot more to it than that, not so much when it comes to pve. So before you belittle something like WvW, remember how simple other areas of the game are in comparison.

I seem to recall that in lore there is just one of us. So there will only really be one Revenant running around (or well, two counting Rytlock).

Nothing is preventing them from taking underwater weapons such as spears and giving then skills for on land use. I predict either a dagger type weapon, maybe a pistol, or possibly a spear. In the video it showed rhytlock using a spear on land. But, since he’s a revenant now that could be their unique feature. Would be cool to see a lancer or spearman in the game. Be it on a war/guard/or rev. I don’t mind either way !

you’re right, nothing is preventing them from doing that. however if warrior is one class that gets to use a spear on land, or anything from underwater combat on land, i can only imagine how incredibly annoyed the rest of the playerbase will be.

what the hell are you talking about?

I’m talking about the REVENANT, you know? A Revenant may choose 2 legends that can be condition damage and/or power, you’ll have to have 2 armors/weapons/trinkets to switch between depending where you go(pve, wvw) unless you want to play hybrid that mean celestial or mixed armor like in the video. Understand?

unfortunately, we don’t even know that yet. all we know is that revenant gets a condition manipulation/applier in the form of that demon thing, and a dwarf legend. i imagine this will work in a similar way as elementalist’s attunements; with there being burst attacks on some of the condi legends, and some condition applications on some of the more heavy damage oriented legends.

How to deal conditions in Death Shroud

I have a question about how to deal with conditions in DS.

I using a power build that I camp most of the time in DS, normally necro is master of manipulating conditions but we have 0 tools to deals conditions in DS.

I mean, if the conditions would not be there, I can stay %80 of time in DS while playing necro, but you have to drop our of DS, cleanse, heal, transfer but then you have most prob no DS for the next 8s.

Am I missing something here, is there a trick to deal with conditions in DS?

as a fellow powermancer, i have almost no problems with conditions. i am spec’d specifically to require the full attention of three or more people applying conditions for them to actually bother me. take a look around teh current traits to help deal with this problem, maybe change up your utilities as well.

i guess this is what happens when the hype train is going at full speed. it’s probably got nothing to do with druid, and moreso to do with how the sylvari are going to have a kitten of a time.

Engineer Specialization Idea: Pyromaniac

in Engineer

This specialization is completely designed for one purpose: To make the flamethrower the most epic thing ever.

ENGINEER SPECIALIZATION: Pyromaniac
New Weapon: Torch
New Mechanic: Immolator 5000
New Skill Type: Shouts

DESCRIPTION:
Pyromaniacs have given up all logic and clear thinking to adopt one philosophy in life: Burn it all down.

NEW MECHANIC: Pyrovision
Pyromaniacs work off pyrovision, which is a small bar below their toolbelt that fills as they catch foes on fire, as they burn, or when standing in fire fields. As the world burns around them, pyromaniacs go more and more insane. When the bar is more than halfway full, Pyromaniacs can press F5 while in the flamethrower kit to upgrade their flamethrower into the Immolator 5000. Using the immolator drains pyrovision.

IMMOLATOR 5000:
Created by Rodgort himself, the immolator 5000 is the ultimate creation when it comes to BBQing your enemies. It is twice the size of the normal flamethrower and its activation is heralded by a maniacal laugh from the Pyromaniac. All traits that affect the FT affect the Immolator.

IMMOLATOR 5000 SKILLS:

1.) Immolation: Fires a huge cone of fire that has the same properties as the normal flamethrower but is 200m longer. It burns one extra second more than the standard FT and deals more damage.

2.) Boom Time: The pyro kicks a barrel of gasoline, which rolls to the enemy to stun anyone it hits. Blasting it again with immolation causes it to explode to deal AoE and blast finish.

3.) Backdraft: Blasts outward with a fan of flames before pulling enemies in a cone towards the Pyromaniac.

4.) Pyroclastic Cloud: Creates a cloud of ash at the target area that deals damage and blinds enemies. Smoke field.

5.) Volcano: Pushes the nozzle of the Immolator into the ground, causing a volcano to erupt in the target area. Enemies caught in the blast are floated by a plume of magma and set on fire. Fire field.

Tool Belt Skill: H. E. A. T. device: Stands for high-energy atmospheric toasting device. Creates a bubble of microwave energy that follows the pyromaniac, causing damage and burning to foes it touches. Incinerates projectiles it touches.

NEW SHOUTS:

“Burn Baby Burn!”: Heal yourself, become immune to burning, and catch yourself on fire. You gain super speed and burn any enemies you touch. Gain extra healing for any enemies on fire during the duration of this skill.

“Buuuuurrrrnnnnnnn!”: Target foe begins burning, you lose a condition for each second they burn.

“Good bye, Cruel World!”: You explode, knocking back all foes while gaining fury. Gain might for any burning foes hit. Breaks stun. Blast finisher.

“More fire! MORE FIRE! MORE FIRE!” Gain quickness. Burning caused by you ticks 50% faster during this skill.

“Flames are our friend!”
Create a ring of fire and fire field around yourself. Allies within the field gain regeneration and retaliation. Enemies in the field burn. Fire field.

BASE TRAITS:

1.) Minor: Pyrovision, you become a pyromaniac and a complete psychopath. Gain access to the immolator 5000.
2.) Adept: Burn Notice, burn enemies around you when swapping weapons/kits.
3.) Master: Leave a keg of gasoline behind when you dodge roll. Striking it after it drops with flamethrower/Immolator 1 causes it to explode and fireblast foes. Gain extra pyrovision for gas cans you explode. If you have bombs on dodge, the bomb is taped to the keg -causing more damage if foes trigger it.

MINOR TRAITS:
1.) Asbestos Armor: Take 10% less damage from burning foes.
2.) Arson’s Excitement: Your flamethrower and immolator’s 1 skill recharges stamina. Gain swiftness when your stamina tops off.
3.) Watch them Burn: Gain fury when you strike more than one foe at a time.

MAJOR TRAITS:
1.) Tormenting Flames: Foes that burn for 3 seconds also gain torment.
2.) Thermal Shift: Chill foes for 2 seconds when burning you apply ends (10s ICD).
3.) Heat of the Moment: Gain extra pyrovision and might when standing in fire fields. (1 stack per 2 seconds).

GRANDMASTER TRAITS:
1.) Nuclear Fallout: Fire fields that you create poisons and weakens foes.
2.) Cauterizing Flames: Your immolator 1 clears conditions off allies when sprayed. Using incinerdary ammo/H.E.A.T device clears 1 condition from yourself for each charge used (for ammo) or second active (H.E.A.T).
3.) Spontaneous Combustion: Foes that burn for 5 seconds trigger an AoE flameblast.

TORCH SKILLS:

1.) Crash and Burn: Throws a keg of gas at the enemy that knocks them down. Pressing the button again detonates the keg, causing a blast finisher, AoE damage, and AoE burning.

2.) Flash Fire: Creates a slowly expanding field of fire that burns foes. When it ends all enemies in the field are blinded (Fire field).

i’m 90% sure it has nothing to do with druid and everything to do with the future struggles of the sylvari.
