I also recommend getting in touch with the folks in the dungeon mentor thread/guild in my signature. Even if you don’t need help learning dungeons, the folks involved are amazing players and I’ve met quite a bit of friendly dungeoneers to hang out with and such without pugging.

I didn’t know they did this… Very interesting. Would definitely like to see an answer.

Once your prl is 10 or more, they start dropping. If you do, say, fractal 15, say, with a prl of <10 you will not have a chance at a ring as a drop in the daily chest. So you should start getting them after a bit of runs.

I received an ascended weapon chest yesterday with less than stellar stats, so as the poster above me said, it’s now my trident (which I didn’t have ascended before) and now I have AR I need in fractals underwater so that’s nice!

I’d love to see a group effort. Maybe next time we can make it huge, and inclusive to EU as well as NA.

Almost equipped a Storm that Malrona dropped (had the same icon as my scepter) glad I didn’t. Sold it. I did, until tonight, have a venom equipped though. Got an ascended chest in fractals though so now i have a new trident, but venom is nice looking.

I did not equip my legend or my lover before making the legendary, but I think it was because I only had either precursor the day before I made the legendaries. (Lucky forge drops led to friends helping me get the legendaries). But I don’t know. I just didn’t do it, I think, because I saw no reason to at the time. ^^

See this is the thing, I have spare gold sitting around and am seriously considering investing in some of these skins.

Given their popularity, in my uneducated opinion (I know very little about TP investments) they seem like they are sort of like the zodiac weapons. I think they’re nice looking enough to warrant people buying these months after. Because apart from the shield the theme isn’t all that flashy. I think a lot of folks will want them if they missed out.

But again, my word isn’t gospel or anything.

No problem! On my second account, my heroic edition chest is securely in my bank as well. no idea where to use it yet.

If you look, the dungeon mentor thread was started over 3 weeks ago (with an original thread that was closed due to the owner not wanting to do it being started a few days prior). So the idea is still fresh for us and we are still working on it.

I did see your post, I always check out the sticky to see what’s new, but I’m not sure everyone does. People don’t generally look at my sticky either, unless directed to it in other threads.

Of course we should be joining forces. I think what we are seeing is a clashing of personalities. The elite dungeon runners who frequent the forums are offering up their services to teach, and as with anything, they are wary of people who insult them (like in the recent posts). I think that’s all this is. Personality clash.

Like I said having more than one option is better for the GW2 community, and that is what this is supposed to be about helping the GW2 community as a whole.

I think the timing is what is throwing folks. I mean, we just started this initiative of our own, and it just happens to be the time where you guys are coming back.

I think the leaders of the mentor thread (which I do not own, but do participate in and give heavily to ) are just trying to keep the initiative strong. It’s been going well, but of course folks feel competitive.

It’s important to help the new folks, it always is, so we are all trying to do that.

As Lilith Mentioned we were the original Dungeon Mentoring group, we have run aproximately 2000 players through various Dungeons since we started up the “New to Dungeons” initiative 8 months ago. But due to a couple of us taking a break we had to slow down our Mentoring these last couple months. So we are glad to see that Lilith has started to provide the same service for the community.

As for teaching, we teach people how dungeons are currently run by PUGS. While I personally do not always stack when I am running with friends, stacking is what is used as the current META for Dungeons. So no we are nothing like PASSS. Most of us run META builds, but we do not force others to run META, in short we will teach anyone and everyone.

Good to know, I just assumed based on some recent comments by the OP of the original sticky.

I think I see more active forumers on TC, and I’ve not met a single person who has disdain for the server, so yeah, I’d say that most people like TC. I certainly do.

Blackgate folks tended to complain about wvw queues and overflows on their server, but that’s the only thing I’ve seen negative about it. Other servers have their graces too.

I vote TC, but I’m biased, hehe.

Well, they will likely go up to cost 5 BLTC tickets, instead of 1 which will cause the skins themselves to become mor pricey on the TP.

I bet they’re against it because it would lessen their gem sales.

Something I would like is if they could let us buy any skin we have already bought (like, buy 1 Rox’s quiver, you have the ability to buy another at any point) with the skins and such that are limited edition. This wouldn’t make them lose gem sales.

Anyway I wish we could have a skin wardrobe (even if it cost gold to take one out, would be a good gold sink!) for in game skins, and even gem skins to an extent ( a skin has been on the gem store for 6 months? Well, now it can be added to the wardrobe for 1k gems! Use it as many times as you want on any character!)

No idea if this is in the correct part of the forums (sorry if not), but i’d like to know if once you buy a set of armor on the gem store, if you unlock it for the account or just one time…say if i transmute something else over the skin i bought, will that skin be lost? do i have to buy it again or can i aquire it again by clicking a button, like the achievement skins?

One time use, and once the skin is applied, it is spent. The only way to get it back is by using transmutation splitters (one splitter for every iteration i think) or re-buying it from the gem store…unless it’s the original flamekissed one, then you’re just sol with the rest of us.

Unfortunately, splitters do not return skin items. If you have an item that had a skin applied to it and you use a splitter on it…you lose the skin. Sad, huh.

One time I split an exotic berserker staff with a dragon’s Jade skin on it. I got the skin back (as a statless item that requires transmutation, but still a skin similar to old fractal weapons) the sigil and a crafted berserker staff (soulbound).

From what I understand is that if the skin itself is a rare quality or higher it will come back as a skin skin, and other wise you get the statless item as a skin.

I love my server, Tarnished Coast (which is the unofficial RP server). People are very friendly, its densely populated, and has a strong Wvw and PvE scene. There are guilds for everybody, and I love that.
I guess it depends on what you like best about the game. If you love dominating WvW Blackgate and JQ are awesome, if you like PvE Blackgate is great for largescale stuff, like Tequatl and Wurm.

That’s tough. I mean, I bought 4 pistols, 2 swords, 2 daggers, a hammer, a focus, a shield, and a scepter. I like the pistols, but I think my favorite is the hammer. I bought it, but I actually have no use for it. I just love the look, so if I ever need a hammer, I know what skin to use.

They are the folks involved with the original sticky up at the top of the forum. I’m not sure what their tactics are, but the OP of that has said in the past week that the forum regulars are toxic and stuff, so I’m guessing they are much like PASSS. (Which is fine, play how you want just let us play how we want ^^)

Just because YOU want that does not mean everyone does. I’m, having a great time in GW2, and I also think Anet has done the right thing in regards to “………” (basically, almost everything). When WoW first started I remember how terrible … When Rift was released it was a bugged filled … Your comparisons to Gw1 are all wrong, I spent 20,000 hours there, and never … so, although I have my criticisms of Gw2 , I think Anet has done a wonderful, superlative, and fantastic job.

Fractals are a totally different beast than standard Dungeons with its own problems and issuses.

Issues getting ignored and/of lost in the noise of Dungeons and General forum sections.

Maybe with it’s own section fractals would get more attention than they get now with so many outstanding issues getting ignored for quite some time now.

I would really like a sub forum for fractals, however, the Fractured sub forum could serve as a test for that. You have to admit, that even when you had “attention” from LS folks no questions were answered, and issues were still ignored.

I’m afraid that it would likely see the same fate as the archived forum and the dungeon forum: no one cares except moderators.

I’ve been thinking on this a lot lately, and I think there is one thing that would have redeemed this entire situation for me.

For female Asura, keep the cute feather helm that female humanoids get. Just that one change would have made me keep it.

They avoid making gender specific armors for Asura, but I really wish that this particular helm was just a little different, and female Asura could have a feather helm that makes them pretty and doesn’t cover their hair.

That one change, and I would not have requested my gems back.

One time I got dredge in a 30 something, and everyone kept trying to skip (but we didn’t have a Mesmer). And I kept trying to explain to them what do.

I had to type in all caps for them to listen to me. Finally, when I got them to pay attention, the warrior in the group said “I don’t listen to Asura.” And left.

Then I calmly explained how to do dredge the normal way, we got it done no problem, after grabbing a guildie, and everyone was good.

Just remember – and I’m guilty of this myself on these very boards – the internet can be a toxic place. It’s easy to be angry and vindictive and snarky. (Oh man, do I love being snarky!)

We all have something invested in the CDI, and for it to be successful, we need to be better.

Most of the ArenaNet developers, even if they lurk on these threads, don’t even bother to post. It seems pretty obvious as to why. I don’t spend much time in the WvW forums, but I hear it’s especially bad over there.

If we can create a safer space here, one where everybody can speak freely without fear of personal attacks, we may start to see more devs come and chime in. The way it is now, though? With all the demands and accusations? They’d be crazy to post.

Yeah I wouldn’t enter the thread during a huge blowout if I was a dev.

I feel like this is sort of why CDI should have its own forum. For instance, at my grocery store, there is one aisle that has a “smiles for everyone” aisle. So folks can go to that aisle, with their own bags and pockets full of coupons, and get treated with a smile, while people who are in a rush can go to their own lane. I think that a CDI sub forum could have the same purpose.
