80 warr [Blaze Steelsoul], 80 ele [Blaze Nightstrike], 80 mesmer [Grim Shatterwhirl]
80 guard [Dusk Grimlight], 80 engi [Flintgear]
i switch between certain pets constantly and (although i already have names for them) i just cba renaming them each time
would love
spider hurl some gunk as an auto attack
devourers shoot barbs
pets shouldnt have ranged modes imo, drakes have… sort of ranged activated abilities already) but if you want a ranged pet; it should be fully ranged, so you cant choose everything you want (tanky, ranged, meleedamage or -fail- support)
I didn’t say gearscore, just the option to inspect one another’s gear. It is merely curiousty from my side and nothing to do with entry, or lack of, into dungeons etc.
I suppose I can see what you mean to an extent that allowing gear inspect may well lead to “full epic only blah blahh” stuff but that’s not whats being asked for.
sadly the few times ive heard an inspect feature mentioned in map chat it was always followed by complaints about gearscore "/
would like both
… though i do see ‘gearscore’ opposition to ‘inspecting’ "/
Dungeon groups hardly fail because some is using MF
but it does slow things down (/irritate others) considerably
several times ive played with ‘ranged classes’ using MF gear because they think they’re ‘safe’; i then have serious trouble reviving them (from downed) faster than 1 semi trash mob can do that damage to them; which means that i have to keep them from dying whilst nonMF team mates kill whatever is poking them (without my DPS) or everyone stop killing stuff and healing one person (effectively pausing dungeon progression)
its a mob of dead things… kind of makes sense for them to be unruly imo (though still a tad annoying)
Not quite, they may be unruly, but they are under the control of the Necromancer, they’re not just reanimated to mindlessly bash everything in sight. That would defeat the purpose of an army of the undead.
agree to disagree?
No. My Golem’s poor ai has led to several deaths and near death situations solely because someone decided that a button that makes my Golem not run suicidally into elite mobs that can two-shot me to death is inconvenient.
ive grown quite fond of my golem for his suicidal tendencies… though i cant quite understand why
-just to clarify; i think it makes sense that they act unruly, not that them acting unruly is sometimes annoying (and in a game; a pointless inconvenience)

Choosing an order never seemed to have much of an impact on my experience.

My map just says “World Completion” not “PVE World Completion.”
He’s correct. You should actually have to visit the whole world in order to complete the world map.
im terrible with lore and stuff… but isnt the mists; the area that connects worlds? and not part of the world itself?
its a mob of dead things… kind of makes sense for them to be unruly imo (though still a tad annoying)
No,shouldn’t be removed.People should just learn to understand when or when not to use it and have a main armor set and a MF armor set.
im fairly sure most of those who do [use MF gear in innappropriate places] are aware theyre making themselves a hindrance…
Removing it completely, I think, would just be a bad idea. People would abuse it (trolls, annoying people, bots, etc.).
it would… though most gold sellers seem to camp in LA (where theres a constant flow of map chat – so they dont seem to get suppressed)
You know who I want to put a knife through? Rytlock. The story mode of AC is all the reason I needed. Every single freaking boss fight played out like this:
Boss Ghost: You are not welcome here. Leave.
Eir: Please, hear us out. We seek the sword’s power.
Rytlock: SHUT UP WOMAN, I HATE GHOSTS, GHOSTS ARE STUPID, DIE YOU ECTOPLASMIC BUTTFACEEVERY SINGLE TIME
^ this… logan doesnt annoy me so much (in the avatars dream thing he actually sounds like hes trying to convince himself more than rytlock – obviously because he made the wrong choice… not bad, just wrong) i want to kill rytlock everytime he opens his snout… muzzle… mouth…
i disagree with removing it totally… but it is annoying in dungeons, removing its effectiveness totally in dungeons (but leaving it functioning in the overworld) would be nice
suggestion: check time between map chat messages before suppressing and/or unsuppress after a certain amount of time regardless of whether anyone else has typed anything (-im working on the assumption that its based on consecutive messages)
this is possibly the most annoying thing ingame at the moment; in my opinion
right now im on desolation and an trying to farm CM enough for a set on my guardian (desolation is a mostly UK server afaik… so its kinda dead at this time of night -3am- but i have a pretty messed up sleep cycle) over half an hour (semi afk-watching TV) i posted 3 times ‘LFG CM exp’ and became suppressed due to ‘excessive messaging’ as barely anyone else is online… i went and made a coffee+cheeseontoast; finished it… cam back and im still suppressed. which is ridiculous.
*though i suppose a usable dungeon group finder would work as well; so i wouldnt have to keep broadcasting

i love how you called them a kiddo… but used ‘txtspeek’…
human engineer armour is the 42k karma sets from orr if i recall correctly
also marksman armour is quite short
i think the ones ive used least are cats/porcines… cats because i prefer wolves and their knockdown (plus they seem to take damage better) and porcines because their f2 ability just seems wildly impractical (and bears tank better/wolves KD better – they sit at an uneasy middle ground between the two)
but i dont think theres a ‘worst’, its just preference/playstyle (i mostly use devourers/birds/spiders/wolves)
i kind of like swoop>hilt bash>ravenF2 on fleeing foes… also the raven grants swiftness if you pull it out when they start fleeing
honestly; the only problems i have with pets is; melee ones can be kited so easily and the wind up time of some f2 abilities are terrible (if they activate at all)
i like SB thief as a combo finisher… but the only combo field it has access to that engi doesnt is dark
SD ele has quite a few finishers… but again only access to one combo field
staff ele has can have two finishers (and a ton of fields – meaning the engi could be the finisher)
- also warr is the master of hitting things and watching them die… GS+knights gear mows down pretty much everything

you would still have to account for both the projectile speed and the spread, making it a less reliable, more random damage kit.
im confused… how so? an auto attack would automatically aim… otherwise its a targetted skill that cant trigger automatically else youll end up having it hitting areas you didnt mean to target (unless you’re proficient with quick targetting… which i and many others arent)

What’s the point of having an auto attack on grenade exactly? A lot of people want it, but I don’t understand the point of it..
from what i gather; its so they can focus on moving… though auto attacks seem to hit unless the target dodges, and with the damage this forum indicates grenades do; thatd be very OP (also as they wouldnt have to lead targets/compensate for distance travel time)
i dont like dyes or outfits or anything… but wouldnt mind a few different retextures available for each pet… id love a forest spider with jungle spider colouration
hound of balthazar(hyena/wolf/alpine wolf)
branded devourer (carrion/lashtail devourer)
mini griffon (raven)
jackalope (owl)
whale (WHALE)
in the gem store… i would buy… i dont care if they wouldnt make sense…
We have 14+ combo field generators, 13+ blast finishers, 10+ projectile finishers, and at least one leap finisher. It may not be “amazing”, but it is pretty darn solid and reasonable. Just because we may not be the master of finishers, or the master of field generators, does not mean we are lacking.
In actuality, elementalist can create 10 combo fields to engineers 14. That hardly makes them masters if you ask me. They only have fire, ice, water and lightening fields. Engineers have fire, ice, light, poison, smoke, and water.
This is one of the common mis-conceptions ov various classes.
Warriors on the other hand, have 35 finishers to our 21, that is a solid difference.
14 fields and 21 finishers seems pretty solid to me, you must have some pretty high expectations to suggest that does not rank near a real of “good combo-er”
only two of those (non projectile) finishers are in weapon sets; both on long CD, and its more about how awkward it is to use those combos compared to other classes (especially as theres only three utility slots and non of them -afaik- give a finisher/field in both its toolbelt and actual skill
idk… the only two things that indicate useful combo potential to me is the healing turret (but rangers healing spring lasts a long time… and staff ele has two water fields) and the bomb kit smoke field (for the previously mentioned stealth trick – which sounds very fun – and for sneakily placing a bomb near people – which i somehow didnt consider… as i kinda thought engi was at a loss once stealthed)
- i just want to point out that i disregard most projectile finishers as combo potential… cause its so widely used… ranger shortbow can spam 20% projectiles (with pet swap/zephyr quickness its even better), ranger axe/theif shortbow bounces combo projectiles around multiple enemies, theif can throw a couple of unloads (which ive heard engi has access to a similar skill… but cant seem to find), rifle warr has the barrage skill on 3, mesmer has phantasms that periodically unload… more examples… more examples…
… it looks like engi is a ‘jack of all trades’ combo-er imo… anything it can do (maybe with the exception of that stealth trick… though im too tired to check the duration on it vs thief fields) and it cant do everything because its severely hampered by utility slots
is that a suitable conclusion?
Certain engi combo fields are really good because they are long duration. 8s on FT fire combo, you can chain light combos for ~12s on EG. Even smoke bomb as a nice duration + fast cool down.
A lone engi won’t get as much out of it. But if you put 2-3 hammer warriors next to an engi smoke field you can build 15s+ of stealth, which is enough to be somewhat sneaky. Or at least jump off a tower wall and get to a balista to gank it.
ty ^^
the healing turret looks like it could be useful… but from what i recall of my short playtime as an engi; turrets are squishy and its water field is very short?
ive been playing around with trying to get detonations to trigger flame turrets smoke field/flame throwers fire… field… line and having very little success… more than that stealth doesnt seem to be greatly useful on engi as other classes can catch you easily when you reappear?
thats what i mean though… i keep getting told/seeing engis being praised as a great combo profession… but it seems very limited in that most of its combo potential lies in utilities and all but one of its combo fields require switching in and out of weapon kits whilst its (non projectile – i only mentioned SDeles as it casts independently of an animation, and its a really common finisher) finishers require being close to an enemy (though idk how jump shot works… whether its take off or land) making it more awkward to take advantage of an allies field
i didnt realise elixer gun/elixer r granted a light field
… but the only notable toolbelt finisher i could find was the thumper turret one… and again takes up a utility preventing access to atleast one combo field
so im not missing anything else?
i dont play engi… but i dont understand why i keep hearing this…
SB thief can spam blast finishers whenever needed(and a poison field – smoke field possible from utilities/second weapon set)
S/D ele has 4 blast finishers in weapon skills alone (access to more finishers through utilities, evasive arcana gives blast finisher rolls, a fire field and 5 100% projectiles from earth 2 that activate simultaneously with an attack) – a S/D elementalist with arcane blast can grant 15 stacks of AoE might if so inclined – even an instant cast stability to prevent interruption
staff ele has a feast of combo fields and a blast finisher (with a second from utilities)
engi has no weapon combo fields
1 granted from grenades
2 from bomb kit
both of which take up utilities restricting access to other finishers (only having one in a weapon set – both of which have fairly long CDs…/animation time)
even ranger seems to do a better job with traps, healing spring, sword leaps, pet skills (although somewhat unreliable) and quickness (from pet switching) shortbow spamming
is there something im missing?

the flamethrower 1 attack inflicts burning… i can not comprehend why it doesnt…
when i did it as my charr this morning i loudly proclaimed (upon entering the puzzle – which lacked any norn/charr at the time) that ‘ALL YOUR SCREENSPACE BELONGS TO ME NOW! >=D’
– i also told a charr he was a bad dog and told him to be an outside dog… it was supposed to be a joke though… since its obviously not their fault… but could see how it couldve been construed that way xD
brilliantly sadistic… definitely leave it as it is, i was laughing all the way round
definitely agree… and the people int he way disappeared for me after exiting overflow… my server tower only had 4-5 people in it xD
human warr no speed buff (but pretty sure they wouldnt work anyway… since weapons and buffs are taken away)
did it three more times afterwards for fun… bags a nice
ive been using SB and double axe for PvE… SB for single targets and axe for groups
but it doesnt seem as useful in wvw (where longbow range + swords retreat + warhorn swiftness seems really useful) – i also havent touched sPvP… so cant comment
since ive got rampager gear ive been considering switching to axe/torch for the chance at burning projectiles
as mentioned; the animations make sense (head turning as they’re more openly inquisitive than other races – i guess it could be annoying for screenshots – but i never had a problem with it)
i flip between liking/disliking the running/prancing
sometimes i think it awesome/funny
sometimes i think its horrible (and try to always keep my weapon drawn whilst running)
if you dont like it then play as another race?
i thiought it mightve been my rangers lack of a nose that caused it (didnt matter though; i just hid the headgear) its a problem with all sylvari?
i dont see the problem, its not your characters name so why do you care? (i suppose you could argue that it ‘breaks immersion’ – but thats a silly arguement anyway… everyday i see people in chat talking about RL, ore maps and petty arguements – immersion like that would only exist in a single player game)
i have 2 sylvaris; nightwither and withershroom (named so because of the mushroom adorning his head)
picked the names because all my characters have wither, night or grim in their names (except my norn) and it was too much effort to work it into a sylvari sounding name
… just re-read and it sounds a bit aggressive… wasnt the intention; but too lazy to rewrite (so please dont interpret it as such)
i was wondering this too…
currently im working off the assumption that they cant… but some confirmation as to whether they can/can’t would greatly ease the stress of gathering enough gold for 80 wine "/
