Frost Aura: Incoming damage is reduced by 10% while under the effects of this aura. Enemies are only able to be chilled by this aura once per second. This affects all frost auras.

Flame Aura: In addition to the burning condition, this aura now grants 10 seconds of might each time the player is struck. This aura can activate only once per second. This change affects all flame auras.

ehhh… suppose its nice; still wont convince me to use focus (except for projectile control)

Comet: This ability’s strike now occurs faster upon casting.

Evasive Arcana: The spell cast while in water attunement has been split between PvE and PvP. This spell’s effectiveness with the healing attribute has been reduced by 50% while in PvP.

i find it funny they misspelled the name… still wont convince me to routinely use the focus

nice… but still only use it for single target damage (when i need to pull something seperately; or damage one thing and nothing around it); which is nearly never

i was under the impression it already stunned enemies – atleast it seemed to for mobs in PvE?

Put them on white or blue armor and the armor should become account bound.

Then either transmute or salvage with BL Salvage kit with the character you want to have them.

I’ve done this with soulbound armor so I could store it after remaking the character that had said armor because I chose the wrong Order. Dunno if it would work with this rune though.

any armour with an upgrade becomes soulbound last i knew

Conjures can be pretty decent support too. Like little utility knives your opening the cans of annoying content.

Or maybe Frostbow just needs to be nerfed :{

Been playing with Earth Shield though and it’s pretty cool when you need a block every 45sec instead of every 60/75sec.

i like earth shield as a pull; useful if you need to group some lightly scattered enemies together to cleave/aoe down (and dont have a guardian… which does the job much better)

The next time anyone wants to exclude another player because of their level they need to stop and think how they felt when they were rejected by someone in real life. Be it an employer for not enough work experience, someone they liked as a potential boy/girlfriend or whatever. No one likes to be rejected and even though it may be only a game there are real people playing those characters.

Real people like you and me who have feelings.

a lot of players seem to forget its other human beings they’re playing with; online disinhibition and stuff ( its actually a very interesting subject… as more and more of the society seems to be playing video games it could be argued that its ‘spilling’ out of games and becoming the ‘norm’… less empathic)
… though im currently doing a report on it (psychological effects of video games) for computer science… and like tangents… and rambling…

this is a horrible assumption that ive run into a few times
players that skip dungeon parts are not ‘skill-less’, for me atleast, its because they’ve already done the content before and the reward for re-running it isnt worth the effort
(to be clear; im fine with either skipping or clearing; i prefer skipping due to it being a higher effort:reward ratio, but if someone wants to complete the content; i dont complain)
just felt like i should try to clear this up as its been annoying me

Whoever says skipping means no skill is only admitting that they have no skill or experience themselves.

i disagree with that as well; skipping or not skipping (on its own) is not an indicator of skill

The way I see it, skippers are not able to react to a situation they don’t know. They didn’t MASTER the game. That’s fine. They don’t have to.

Some people want to be respected because they farmed a lot, and fast.
Others want to be respected, because they can do things that seem impossible.

i disagree with that as well; i can react to a situation as well as players who dont frequently skip (skipping itself often requires a basic knowledge of the mobs… take TA for example; a knight ran up to you; suddenly leaped knocked you down and crippled you; you pop a stunbreaker+cleanse then in the future you’ve learned to dodge whenever you see a knight lunge at you)

i think this is getting messy; and its better to clarify people into four (or more) groups:
- those that skip; but cant deal with killing the mobs
- those that skip; but can deal with the mobs (normally because theyve killed the mobs before and the effort:reward ratio doesnt justify them re-running content they find boring – take CoEs champion ice wolf; thats a horribly boring fight)
- those that dont skip because they cant evade attacks and suck at skipping
- those that dont skip because they like the content (whether its because they like killing stuff or the chance at loot)
(then theres a number of middle areas… for example; i much prefer skipping stuff… but i do enjoy fighting kholer -unless im with a group who cant dodge- and thus prefer to fight him – if troll doesnt spawn… i love watching to two fight each other)

Well, if another class can do the same exact thing as a thief, then isn’t that just another thief? The strength in other classes do not lie in stealth. It’s simple as that. No other classes can do what a thief can do because they’re not thieves. Same goes for thieves. They can’t do what mesmers do, neither can they do what warriors do, and etc. Classes are unique for a reason… I thought that wasn’t a serious question.

By the way, in that video, the thieves on the opposing side are TERRIBLE. That’s proof that even thieves don’t know their classes well enough to counter. If you want, I can take some time out of my week and compile a video of how my thief destroys other thieves and that type of gameplay showed in that video is only possible against players who are “mindless”, or there was a serious case of culling. By the way, I find it really sad that that zerg didn’t even attempt to target the thief… But as soon as they were coordinated and hit him, he goes down pretty quickly. Initially, they just went “mehhh, whatever”. Not all zergs are that lenient on an attacking thief… lol.

And what exactly can they do can they take on a whole zerg? the thieves cant find each other simple as that.btw they did try targeting you cant target someone who goes invis every second i know i try to and the times he does go down is when he screwed up his stealth rotation after about 2 minutes of carnage. But I Did find the answer to our problems it even goes along the lines of what your saying tso i totally agree.

this is exactly what it looks like on my warrior usually its a D/D heartseeker tho even the video uploader said so “When the thief stealths, he is able to get off 4 full shots off before even starting to become visible and isn’t fully rendered until shot 5 or 6. His dagger set was on CD from weapon swap but what usually happens is a series of heartseekers from stealth after c/d+bs which makes the.”

the ‘stealth rendering bug’ issue seems stupid; the first shot missed, the second was blocked (somehow… no idea how) the third was evaded
please; if you’re complaining about a class have the decency to learn how it works; stealth doesnt break unless it does damage

how about dodging that heartseeker spam and making them waste initiative (you… do know how that works right?)

The two do the same DPS. If you’ve been using rapid shot while plinking away at long range thinking it increases your DPS, stop. It doesn’t, it’s needless work on your part

on crit procs (i use superior sigil of fire on my longbow), RaO (although barrage is much better at this; i group of enemies gives your pet 25 might in no time) and only one confusion tick

Wow, tons of misinformation here in this thread. All I saw in that video was a thief attacking people who weren’t even fighting back. Not really OP if you ask me. Also vespers, that’s not the was HS works at all.

Nerfing a class because of l2p issues is not the way to go and I’m glad Anet is taking their time to make sure they get it right.

Also, this post belongs in the thief subforum with the other 50 threads that consist of the same thing.

I love these L2P comments by thieves get a better argument btw this thrwead is in suggestions to anet i dont need your opinion just anets views thanks. and if you dont see some people fighting back and dieing in a whole group your blind sir. and no it doesnt belong in the thief sub forum because ppl will QQ “this is for thief help not blah blah” sorry im not doing that read other threads that consisted of such so please sir walk away. You know what not only that but think of it this way could any other class any other whatsoever get away with what that thief did in the video? no…. and on top of that what if all the players left and all that was left were the thieves that are like a cancer? wouldn’t be much fun then would it?

Yeah… I can give you a picture of it compared with regular armor, it just doesn’t have the “Shine” that other armor pieces have, this makes it impossible to mix/match.

yeh; i got the chestpiece for my warr (for those shoulderblade spikes) and it just… didnt seem right

i get annoyed at PuGs who (despite being told to stack in melee and dodge after two) decide theyd be safer running around at range; causing the other (non perfect timed evaders) to run into their AoE; or getting crystallised and call for ‘help’
- though i suppose thats partly to do with my hatred of dungeon players who will never ever go melee because they’re ‘squishy’

My charr warrior runs in t3 cultural but my charr mesmer will run in cof armor.
Cof armor is no more cliche than half nude chicks with the face of 14yr old girls I see in the game felt and right.

It’s pretty difficult to get go for the eyes to proc when you need it to, but it can be useful. In general, you’ll probably get more out of 10% damage increase. Are we talking PvE/PvP/WvW?

mostly PvE maybe a little wvw (though i doubt it)

Yeah, I go a bank-tab full of none-infused rings, all my lvl 80 alts have none-infused rings and I am sitting on 25+ pristine relics.. It would be nice if we could use them to get:
-vials (1)
-globs (5)
-shards (10)
-infused rings (20?)

do you mean increase the AOE of the bomb#1? if so +1, ive been testing things out in the mists for my engi and its dissappointing how close you have to be for them to do damage (considering they have to not move as well)… but maybe ive been spoiled by lightning whip

Eh, skill 2 doesn’t increase in damage per hit. It’s a channeling skill that gives you the total numbers as they add up on the target. The last number you get is the sum damage of all the arrows, not the last arrow fired. If you miss one arrow, the tally merely resets.

Concidering that isn’t how damage presentation works in the game, you are wrong.

you are wrong. obsidian is correct; the damage shown at the final hit is the damage of the whole skill. i cant believe people dont notice how much damage their attacks do outside of numbers thrown in their face, if each arrow did the damage shown when it hits things would die alot quicker

condition damage shouldnt crit… it just shouldnt… conditions are for wearing down opponents; not bursting
however… condition builds:
- shouldnt suffer from (damaging) condition caps (DoTs should be able to stack alot higher/indefinitely – except confusion… and poison/burning would still be an issue… unless seperate burn/poison stacks were active for each player and ticked simultaineously… but that could be OP… and make it more difficult to stack long duration poison on a healing target)
- should be able to do respectable damage to environmental objects

(trait nitpicks – my necro and mesmer are condition damage builds)
- condition duration in the power tree on professions is annoying… but its for vulnerability and other non damaging conditions (necromancer/ranger/mesmer trees exemplify this well)
- mesmer precision tree annoys me… all the minor traits benefit from condition damage; yet it gives critical damage

did it a day or two ago; one person was unlucky enough to fall down very early and i got knocked down a few seconds before he died, but the boss is easy enough that i dont think it really needs a safety net

this is a horrible assumption that ive run into a few times
players that skip dungeon parts are not ‘skill-less’, for me atleast, its because they’ve already done the content before and the reward for re-running it isnt worth the effort
(to be clear; im fine with either skipping or clearing; i prefer skipping due to it being a higher effort:reward ratio, but if someone wants to complete the content; i dont complain)
just felt like i should try to clear this up as its been annoying me

i mainly use D/D in dungeons (vigor on crit helps survivability amazingly) but switch to staff for certain things (those parts where you absolutely can not be in melee range/cant hit things with D/D – and swap renewing stamina for blasting staff) anything a warr/guard can melee; you can D/D (just dont stand there like a statue and get hit)

wouldnt like to see a race change – that is the first decision you make when creating a character; it should be a commitment

name change is something that was confirmed as being ‘worked on’ a while ago -too lazy to find the post-, though im disappointed it wasnt implemented before/alongside appearance change (my warr has a unisex name; and for some reason most people tend to think my character is female – until they see them)

The reason being conjured hammer is slow in attack and dungeon mobs hit much harder than open world mobs.

You can’t stand tanking for too long lets alone spam Hammer auto attack 1. That’s just my view though.

I still prefer to chain though my attunements to DPS and support.

im a squishy ele and dont really have a problem with meleeing enemies… but then i do have perma vigour (to twitch dodge) and am constantly on the move (meleeing doesnt mean you have to take hits well; just that you have be able to avoid them)

Honestly? No idea. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone build around the conjured weapons and I haven’t tried myself. Could be interesting, though I think the consensus from others is that most conjured weapons are useless save Fiery Greatsword and FrostBow (in some situations). I could be wrong, I’m going entirely off of memory here. Looks like the poster above me is trying to figure it out, though.

So you don’t think there’s any feasibility in a staff/conjured melee weapon elementalist with enough toughness to simply tank the damage. I’m experienced enough to know that it’s a bit of a pipe dream, but it would be so cool

ax sucks
shield is situational; but potentially useful (as you said); you can group mobs together for the team to aoe/cleave down
hammer is awesome (im actually confused as why i see no one using it in dungeons…); every third hit in the chain is a blast finisher and a blind (meaning you can keep slow attacking enemies blinded and spam finishers in combo fields) – plus it has great synergy with staff (which seems to be the most popular weapon in dungeons; i prefer D/D) as you can give it to someone to spam into your fields

There sure is something wrong but is it with mentality of some people or role design?
The other day a thief just got kicked from the group for being a thief.

the higher level dungeons are basically zerk (berserker gear) warr/guard/mesmer-fest
thieves and rangers are often refused access to parties (i cant speak for thief; as mine is still low level; but ranger has hunters shot/opening strikes(10-20% more damage for the whole party), call of the wild, healing spring (regen,con removal and water field for whole party) and a number of party useful pet skills)

Ele is OP clearly the only people defending the Ele’s are the Ele players themselves.

Lets see why:
In a Fight
- DPS’s with air and fire, can last for ages due to tons of condition removal, healing on weapon skills, and OP high armor
- Someone is downed, they go in mistform and do their finishing move, which makes the downed person doomed and unable to hit the Ele.
- If the fight goes bad, they mistform and run a fair distance, heal up with weapon skills, go to air and use healing skill + gain swiftness, and take off down the road with RTL and just reset the fight.

Overpowered, they just wear you down unable to be killed.
Need a massive healing/armor nerf.

i dont like either suggestion (bigger bosses/‘flashier’ wind ups)… id prefer to see something done about the source of the visual disturbance (oversized chars -max size norn/charr, ‘certain greatswords’ and a few animations being less offensive -leap of faith blinds me just as much as the enemy)

id in favor of some more like a danger zone sound in a 3 sec span right before the bang.

Either that or just run with one CC removal and one traited removal. Oh and a friendly tip if you all use any number of Disable to get his count to 0 then wait til u see something fishy and stop it repeat. work out great against khol the number one Bull kitten boss that ever created

last i was aware; interrupting kholers wind up (when he has no defiant) caused him to instantly send out the scorpion wires

it will actually be easier to just go 4 lvl 80s rather than taking the lvl 38 thief since he would die quickly and easily anywhere in the dungeon. thus the 4 lvl 80s have to heal or rez the lvl 80 and force 3 people to do the fighting.

that is stupidly presumptuous… i levelled my mesmer from 40 (/necro from ~60/ ele from ~60) in AC and was absolutely not a burden (not great at the burrows on my mes/necro -as they’re condition specs – but not a burden)

anyone requiring lvl 80 for AC, CM and TA are terrible players imo
ive had brilliant; fast runs with sub 80 players; ive also had horrible train wreck runs with full 80 exo players

- more than that; players should check lower level characters achievement points to ascertain whether or not they’re a ‘newbie’

TBH I dont even mind the noobies so long as they come prepared with appropriate gear and traits for their level. I’ve taken a few in the past and as long as they listen to instruction there isn’t too much of an issue. I find they are often very eager to learn and do the right thing which certainly helps.

- to clarify; i didnt mean; kick them if they are a newbie, i just meant to gauge their game experience (and offer to walk them through what they need to do at certain parts of the dungeon/what to expect if they are new)

newbies are often much more eager to learn because they arent arrogant and think they know everything (ive met alot of ‘elitists’ whove blamed lowbies in the group for their failing to dodge a scavenger/ kholers scorps, meleeing the troll -which is doable; with a very skilled group/guard spam-, getting screamed to death -HK/CR- or getting hit by a boulder -CR-…)

- i notice the level elitist attitude mostly in AC (people joining then instantly leaving when they see a non level 80)… theres the obvious mesmer/warr/guard only CoF parties… and several times ive been told not to invite someone because theyre a ranger or thief (which -as well as being immensely annoying to me; my main main is ele with ranger as my secondary- is ridiculous; and has occasionally -depending on how much i want to do the dungeon in question- made me leave a party)
