The fantastic thing about Guardians is you can have AH in almost any dps build…
no… no you cant… you can use AH in a balanced build; but not a dps build (the key to dps builds are damage modifiers, but AH soaks up 30 trait points in a tree that is absolutely awful for optimal pve)
PvE Version:
This build problably works just fine, even though the mace is a slow weapon i will still do damage and I can get pretty good support also. I took Tome of Courage so that If I need some quick team heals, but the other Tome or even Renewed Focus works problably
this isnt a good build for dungeons

you have three shouts slotted (which i assume you dont always use… but shouts are often a solid choice for utility) but dont have shout cd reduction (symbol size doesnt matter in pve because you should be aiming to bunch stuff up… and also makes other classes potentially harder to play -ele for example)
vengeful is useless, mobs attack slowly and you should be avoiding hits so retaliation does little/no damage, unscathed contender/master of consecrations are much stronger traits in that slot
… then theres what you’re missing, but i have to go and that would take a while

Other weapons have DEFAULT PIERCING. Giving them way more build diversity. Ranger is more reliant on triats then any other profession out there. It’s a reason why traits like piercing should go away and be default.

The reason for the stone spirit is for extra protection. having 33% reduction in damage 90% of the time is great.
3s every 10s… whilst the spirit is alive which is (maximum) 60s/85s… far from 90%…
then you have to factor in the spirit melting in medium-large scale fights (especially so because you havent traited it)
… then add in that… you lack healing spring (rangers best skill in medium-large scale fights) and kittenton of aoe condi cleanses means that condis will be lacklustre in (you guessed it) medium-large scale fights… your build is very bad at anything but roaming (and even then… a necro finds you… you’re screwed… a thief finds you… they steal all your buffs… any player with any common sense finds you; theyll kite you out of spirit range)

this seems to be true; except in the labyrinth; got two tyrias best nougats from one door event; im guessing the other variations may drop too
i really like the battered version… but maybe some kind of mystic forge recipe to repair it would be good
dragonbash food doesnt have varieties for all types of food (looking at lemongrass poultry)
… and the datamined 500 cooking stuff seemed interesting (mainly because of the endless foods… which… would be odd if actually implemented…)
If you stand inside his circle poison darts wont hit you. Positioning can be tricky though, especially with a big norn^^

pve: power (condi caps makes organised pve a major pain whilst many encounters are anti condi… but minions or condi are pretty decent solo pve)

As for the gargoyles, I’ll say again, those are not gargoyles. And what Konig said is true, the mists can create or recreate anything.
they could be gargoyles.. WP made a passing comment (speculation i must emphasise) about how they would hopefully add an explanation as to why/what (passing comment being something along the lines of ‘edrick wanted a birthday present, so we got him gargoyles’… imo the gw2 gargoyles look a bit like theyve been melted down and reformed -are gw2 gargoyles actual stone?)
maybe i shouldve added quotes to prevent confusion… i dont want the old gargoyles as pets; i want the new versions (even if they were named flippantly)… specifically the rockdog reskin (rockdog pets would be great too… but that reskin is so kitten amazing)

one of the fights i absolutely love protection for (swapping out empowering might for writ of persistance and using hammer at max melee range)
I still can’t get over the fact, that even though we spec for it, trait for it and have to rely on minions hitting things to get heals, a warriors healing signet still outheals something that we specifically spec into….
its balancing rooted in the games core; giving every class/spec access to a healing skill makes any healing obtained from traits, skills, etc all weak (because they dont need to be; when everyone can heal already)

You kinda mistook the original meaning, fact is that there are slot 1 no cooldown skills/basic attacks (on ele mesmer, warrior, thief, ranger and engie) that apply either bleed or burning.
hence the bolding of burning, which only mesmer has; its 1s duration and random (could be bleed or vuln)
edit oh; forgot about flamestrike, but even condi specced (condi ele "/ bleh) earth scepter#1 is better damage

without logging an checking my witch hat, i believe its account bound, so no reason to get more than 1
witch hat was town clothing, and obtainable mutliple times… (going from the screenshot) mask of the night is an armour skin (in which case a better comparison would be dragon bash helms… which were only obtainable once and soulbound on use… which sucks)

Frankly, there should be a dis-incentive for veterans to team new people. They need to learn how to do it themselves and realize their potential instead of being told everything. You get better and more compassionate players that way.

… i was honestly expecting another obvious ‘buff entangle’ post (because its borderline useless against decent players)… but a ‘nerf entangle’ is hilarious (actually… i wouldnt mind i nerf to do with AIs breaking out – it shuts down MM necros hard – if it came with some kind of buff against those who have brains)
Funny, the only two professions it even works against are engineers and necromancers. If anything, it needs a serious buff.
both of them have plenty of active cleanses (and necro has dark path/transfers)… the only class id consider it working well on is ranger

And I already admitted I’d run something other than support guard if there were someone to show me a better way. They’re busy playing only with others who know. So until then, I’ll do what I know works.

My sarcasm detector is broken. But I wasn’t even talking about any tree for my spec. I’m an altruistic on my guardian by definition of the word altruistic. My heals focus on group healing. Contrary to what someone else said, it is useful. And again, I reiterate (in response to whoever said support guard or altruistic guard is pointless in Arah) that if people were willing to be a little more helpful, I would have known.
But I give up. I’ll follow someone else’s advice and just join a group after I watch the vids. Then I’ll start open groups when I know what I’m doing in there.
… it is in wvw… in pve you should focus around preventing taking hits (guardian does it amazing with blinds, aegis and projectile reflect/deflect) and killing stuff before they can kill your team

its 30 trait points that could be better spent elsewhere (fiery wrath,unscathed contender, elusive power and radiant power being low cost, big effect or having several other powerful traits in their trees)

also; i read this as they’re changing how it scales whilst levelling; not fixing condi caps or the many many many encounters in which condis are borderline useless (or actively bad… i noticed one of the golems in SEp1 actually heals from condis?)… then theres the other issue of most condi builds used in pve support the team considerably less (powercro gives considerably more vuln than condicro, which multiplies the teams damage)

… i actually kind of like this idea… i had a great time teaching three newbies CoE a few days ago (after joining two god awful speedrun groups; left one because they couldnt dodge, the other disbanded because someone pulled Abom(b) – i believe thats called ‘cutting off your nose despite your face’?)… and normally put ‘experienced only’ in my descriptions (just because ive joined so many stupid speed run groups and dont have the patience to deal with bad newbies -the ones who dont listen or run around like idiots… i had two SE newbies join one of my experienced only SEp1+3 runs a couple of days ago… they immediately mentioned they were new… that told me that they would be attentive and listen so i didnt care – the other guy in the party at the time didnt either – and we had a pretty good run)
… that was rambly… something about… i dont mind attentive newbies; but i generally avoid all newbies because of bad experiences with ones that dont listen, run ahead or do stupid stuff (bowbear)

It is unusual and really makes absolutely no sense that a Thief’s shortbow range is shorter than that of any other class that uses the shortbow.
its funny because the only other class that can use a shortbow is ranger… and ranger SB got reduced to 900 range a while ago
Also 1 attack on the wall in wvw doesn’t work properly compared to the other classes.
You clearly don’t play the other classes, the other bows don’t work on walls either.

to elaborate -because you tracked me down in game-
- GS has no ‘native’ condition damage… so whilst using it you’re essentially 1k stats down
- too little survivability for large scale battles; which is going to turn you into rallybait (and you’re going to have a bad time against burst thieves… since you wont be able to burst them back and cant take any hits)
id recommend (my preference… some people find traps great… i dont… although frost armour is nice)
medium – large scale battles:
-longbow (1500 range, large aoe/soft CC and stealth)
-GS (for melee training; the built in evade is amazing, whilst swoop provides you with easy -non fiddly- mobility and #4 gives you breathing space -as long as a damage source isnt in melee range its a full duration block… very useful for walking through AC fire, stalling for heals, retreating to the back line or thieves)
-warhorn (blast finisher for might stacking, fury and swiftness for allies… its really good)
-survival skills (particularily muddy ground and lightning reflexes… entangle too… but RaO is great for stab)
-signets (wild, stone and hunt mainly… and hunt should be switched out if you can before a battle… renewel… i dont really use… just because it requires your pet to be alive, so i dont find it reliable enough with masses of aoes thrown about; traited stone becomes a 6s invuln… and wild gives stab… which are both amazing; but requires a 30pt investment)
-healing spring (no question…)
-buffing pets (red moa/jungle stalker)
- all elites (all ranger elites are good… entangle has some issues with small scale combat and decent players but… soft CC, long duration water field and 1500 range seige busting is pretty much all ranger has, RaO stab is great… stab is great… SoNR is covered below)
what i dont recommend
-torch (should be enough fire fields from engis/eles… you’d benefit more from warhorn for the blast or dagger for the evade)
-offhand axe (path of scars is nice;if easy to dodge;… and on paper whirling defence seems great… but the root and many non projectile damage sources means it often puts you in pointless danger)
-spirits (with random aoe everywhere they’re going to melt… or you’re going to be so far away theyre going to be useless… the only exception being SoNR… which is great for its active)
-because you asked what i run-
30/25/15/0/0 sometimes changing to 30/20/20/0/0 (but normally change back quickly… love flanking damage)
LB(zerker/fire)/GS(knights/blood… which ill be changing for restoration once i get foefires essence and an asc GS)
i change my slot skills often… but always keep healing spring and lightning reflexes (bear in mind the toughness in the image also has SigoS buff)
lemongrass poulty soup (because i have low vit and only cleanse is healing spring… but its kitten expensive)

The runes are totally up to you though. Since I sometimes do run the Ds retaliation trait, I prefer more toughness, but honestly you could use any of the condition dmg based runes of your choice and do just fine.

Works just fine for me. And if you’re doing it right you can easily maintain 8 stacks of bleed which is just fine for a hybrid setup. Maybe you need to go re-read the traits again. If you want more power it no longer becomes a hybrid setup and you might as well just run cookie cutter power/well build instead
works fine… for you… dont suggest it like its good (8 bleeds is pitiful… i cba doing the maths with your cond damage but thats like 800 dps? yeh… power wouldnt be able to match that)
thats not a hybrid build… it fails at both conidition damage and power damage… its not even tanky (although tanky in pve is itself bad)

If you put the Legendary Skin on a white item, you have lost the stats I would believe, not to mention the ability to switch stats. De-transmuting the thing would only give you the white item back and a Legendary skin which seems a huge waste.
