80 warr [Blaze Steelsoul], 80 ele [Blaze Nightstrike], 80 mesmer [Grim Shatterwhirl]
80 guard [Dusk Grimlight], 80 engi [Flintgear]
i had trouble on the same mission on my ele; with a little persistance (and utility changes) i got through it
i cant recall whether blindness affects doc howler; but dagger/pistol may be worth a shot (just keep them in the smoke field and auto attack) along with signet of agility (to cleanse poison before healing)
dislike… you can transmute better looking armour (and imo – theres enough variation of each type to keep everyone happy)
changing into town clothes automatically in town (and more variation/free options) would be nice; but maintain the option to revert back to your armour and weapon; for showing off
i have 4 lvl 80s (necro included; others being warr, ranger and ele) and notice no sizable balancing issues, some classes arent as good as others in some ways; but better than them in others.
I would like to suggest two mystic forge recipes (for each ghastly -AC- weapon) that creates either a non-cursed one (stays non-glowy all day/night) and a totally cursed one that glows during the day as well
Why?
my GS looks odd on my ranger during the day (as my ranger is a black/blue sylvari, with TA set of the same colour – so the night version fits very well) and my shield/mace look weird with my warriors colour scheme at night (but i love the day skins on my warr)
Recipes… something like:
ghastly weapon + 20/30/40 (offhand/mainhand/twohand) badges of honour + ? + ? = non cursed weapon
ghastly weapon + 10/15/20 globs of ecto + ? + ? = always glow~y weapon
edit
or maybe artificer/huntsman/weaponsmith recipes; so people have to work more towards them
i was fine with WvW being on the monthly before the PvP monthly was introduced, but now its just stupid, either remove it, move it to the PvP monthly, rename the PvP monthly ‘SPvP monthly’ or create a new ‘WvW monthly’ (but no wvw daily) please arenanet
as to the dungeons thing; soloable dungeons are a bad idea; i dislike
It’s fine. If they camp the JP with 15 people, that’s 15 people less to fight against on the battlefield.
i suppose thats true
arborstone has +370
deolation has +220
baruch has +105
still not much comfort, im on desolation; we’re getting slammed by arborstone in actual wvw, and cant complete the puzzle because baruch is camping it =[, im almost tempted to transfer to baruchs (despite not being able to speak spanish) just so i can do the puzzle (i probably wont though… been on deso since headstart… dont want to leave it "/)
normally if anyone complained about this id tell them to stealth run it… but having just witnessed 15+ baruch bay players (mostly BORN/WJJ) camping in the arena with multiple arrow carts, necros and rangers aoe spamming (preventing dodge roll evading them whilst invis) i am horribly annoyed/positively fuming.
can we expect to see something done about this (such as – no seige/no direct pvp (control effects/traps only)/jumping puzzle queues(to keep players at roughly even numbers))?
i love that JP (and since ive started working towards a legendary; i need badges – JP is the quickest most reliable way to obtain them for me; as i often miss bags by my feet as im running around), the dark room is great, and fearing/pulling/pushing enemies off ledges is hilarious, i love the random (balanced) pvp you can encounter on your way through, i love finding passive ‘invaders’ and running through the puzzle with them (and watching them like a hawk incase they do anything fishy >.>), i love foiling ori node camping theives with aoes before mining, but this unbalanced mass camping cant be what AN had in mind when it was designed? right?
as already mentioned; cond removal would be good (id swap out FGJ for shake it off, cond removal and stun break), also; flurry is really good on a cond build… you may want to rethink your trait/healing skill choice
i would love, LOVE a one handed range option on warr
That’s not very “warrior”, but then again, neither is a rifle.
Ironically, rifle is the only good weapon that warriors have
made me chuckle.
isnt there already a tactics trait that increases banner area?
… but yeh; i would love to see it changed, probably prefer something like a buff increase though
really really wouldnt like that
i spent a couple of hours on the clocktower, and it felt so rewarding to actually finish it; id hate for that feeling to be cheapened knowing that others could just easymode it
(not that im expecting this jumping puzzle to be better or equal to the clocktower; i dont see how anything else could be "/)
i dont see it happening… would love it if they introduced some second tier classes (like some other MMOs and this was an option for ranger
either go full carrion or full rampage set.. well that’s just me ehehe
no toughness in melee = very bad idea
might as well use a tooth pick then since i refuse to use axe/bows/greatsword/warhorn.
and I don’t like rifles or maces.
Rifle is actually good with sword spec if you’re going condition route. The auto attack of a rifle stack bleeds and it has a knockback compared to longbow. If longbow had lower 20% cool down rate trait then I’ll mostly use long bow. However rifle cripple effect and knockback has saved me and my team lots of times if we are being chase down by something that can’t stealth or teleport.
longbow is still a viable alternative… offering burning instead of bleeding (incase something is already 25 stacked), a fire field (savage leap into for fire field… or -apparently – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stronger_Bowstrings means you can just shoot into the field for more 100% burning), immobilise, blind and generally better AOE options
pets die instantly in dungeons, all you can spec in pvp is dps or dot. You don’t really have that great number of viable play style really once you get higher level.
i disagree… i keep my pets on passive in dungeons and specifically tell them when to attack and retreat, stealth, hunters shot (pet swiftness), thoughtful character placement and attentiveness means i can keep my jaguar alive for a long time (granted not as long as in open world; but still definitely not instant death)
… ranged pets (spiders/devourers) are even easier to take care of in dungeons… just press f3 when a circle appears at their feet/an enemy is in their face)
something black and blue (to go with my rangers colour scheme)
… wouldnt mind seeing some more plant pets…
i use S/S and longbow for PvE… its far from useless
deep cuts is practically mandatory for swords though
but for PvP/WvW you would probably be better off with a different offhand
i use dual swords… i dont have the trait to reflect whilst blocking, so using sword 5 to block a high damage attack (and counter attack with strong bleeds – which, along with the shorter CD, is where it differs from shield) very useful on dungeon bosses (or any mobs with control attacks)
i dont think its the worst offhand (although if you’re traited to reflect whilst blocking; shield is obviously better), the best is obviously debatable.
i cannot think of any weapon in this game that is useless, but you cant expect to just throw it on a build and it works, swords are quite condition intensive (thats alot of bleed damage from riposte; its definitely not ‘meh’)
… wouldnt mind seeing some incentive to rip my sword out of an enemy though…
(edited by Linguistically Inept.6583)
i use longbow burst>arcing shot>sword leap in dungeons alot
longbow burst>longbow 5>sword leap works decently in pvp (although i VERY VERY rarely PvP)
combustion shot also is quite a large AOE, making it very useful in WvW
i use flurry when i gain quickness (from hitting an enemy below 25% health) or so i gain quickness partway through the animation
Yes, there isn’t a cooldown on the trait. You can apply bleeds from AoE crits as well.
Consider Sigil of Earth to increase your chances, but it has a 2 seconds cooldown and will only apply once.
thanks for the reply… but (to totally clarify) do the two hits (two arrows from each auto attack) both have a chance to activate? or are the two trated as only one attack – HB activates sigil of fire/flame multiple times… but each hit does different damage; as far as i can tell… both arrows do exactly the same damage)?
banners are useful (warbanner in particular; the ranged revive means you can revive people in dangerous situations that wouldve gotten you killed – a res the whole of your group in vengeance… go out martyr style)
shout healing (and shake it off group cleanse) can help someone whos healing is on CD
longbow blast finisher and fire field would help in combos
(edited by Linguistically Inept.6583)
if precise strikes is traited (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Precise_Strikes) do critical hits with the longbow have a chance of inflicting two stacks of bleeding? or do the two arrows only count as one (i seem to recall that they bother crit -or dont crit- at the same time)?
the greatsword consistently annoys me in that it locks the player into one element, so i would love that change (or have it switch elements along with the player – with fire being the default for any non ele that picks it up)
i love the whiplash motion, its the main reason i made my engi as a charr
you could say that about alot of traits… ‘it seems logical that, after thowing many pairs of grenades, the engineer would learn that a third one would do more damage’
not having the cooldown decrease doesnt prevent you from being a bow user at all (infact; i barely even use anything but the AA on shortbow, and long bow loses its effectiveness at the distance you need for thrown traps)
the idea is interesting but thief with more range is broken =p
How? Every other profession gets 1000-1200 range and we get 900. Thieves are extremely hard to play in WvW when you gata get super close up as a squishy profession just to even hit something. I’d rather see a crossbow added since rifles are sort of loud and not “stealthy” although I like you skill ideas (except the rapid shadow step skill, that would be too confusing for both the player and any enemy they are against). The basic attack of a long range weapon for thief would have to be just above SB basic attack since sb basic bounces leading to higher dmg if there is 2 enemies there (it bounces, bounces back for 2 hits). Still interesting skill ideas.
super squishy profession? no; super squishy build ¬¬ any class can be tanky (ive seen stealth healing builds take out several people in a row preying on one road in WvW before a group of four came along (two of which they managed to down)
theives have the advantage of stealth to mitigate range, defending keeps should barely be an issue as clusterbomb will help kill the invaders faster/theyre at the gate (close enough to hit)
i dislike this idea
(edited by Linguistically Inept.6583)
i… actually dislike this suggestion… running around as a ghost doesnt make much sense, and having people running around as living rainbows would really annoy me (even more than the dreamer)
… i dont have the juggernaut (or w/e the legendary hammer is called) but i guess it would alos annoy people who did
bump this thread it’s a nice idea you could make em as legendary exotic drop acc bound from high level fractals
i hope that wasnt a suggestion for ‘fractal exclusive’? cause that would be a massive design fail
id be very annoyed if AN added more terrestrial weapons before aquatic ones
did you just compare a minor master traits healing (that requires no skill/weapon changes) to a major grandmaster one that only works with shouts?
…
thats a totally fair comparison…Im comparing a trait that is able to heal up to 7000 burst instantly regardless of being stunned-feared-sinked, that is aoe and easy to heal others, and that is viable regardless of your gear stats and other trait picks to one that forces you to trade endurance, traits, and stats to +healing to be remotely viable, which you cannot use whenever you want.
As I said, id just love them to increase the base healing and keep the scaling to 50% in pvp so it heals a good number if i actually invest in +healing stats, while making it a good trait even if you don’t use healing.
7000? i assume you mean by running three shouts and putting all utilities on cooldown? and again vigorous shouts is a MAJOR GRANDMASTER trait, selfless daring is a MINOR MASTER trait
if you want to compare vigorous shouts to a guardian trait then compare it to monks focus (both of which are nice, vigorous shouts working better with healing power and monks focus allowing you to go offensive)
*note that it takes 1k healing power for vigshouts to catch up to monks focus with no healing power
(edited by Linguistically Inept.6583)
i dont like CoF armour (except the pauldrons/gloves/boots that will be going on my ele once i level him up) but this might tempt me onto it for my guardian (blue flames ^^)
+1 that or increase its size (so it can be used properly as an aoe)
Its easy to press F while fighting guys.
i often miss bags because they spawn under my feet as im running around, sometimes i turn around after a battle and see a couple of bags on the floor that i didnt even notice (im sure ive missed dozens of bags because i havent turned around and looked for them)
i dont see why you couldnt just time your combo fields better… or place them better
this sounds way too OP in WvW
one lucky sod could craft at first attempt a precursor… what’s the difference?
did you seriously just ask that? legendaries are ALOT different to precursors
… and no; its a terrible idea
i had hoped WvW kills would be moved out of next monthly (as i assumed it was the monthly reset before the pvp monthly was set)
id much prefer a simple cross server LFG system (where you enter which dungeon/s you’re looking to do and which path/s, then either go and do other stuff -waiting for someone to contact you- or filter for similar people), i dont see the need for it to be as complicated (and; imo as not effective) as dungeon lobbies
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Obsidian_Sanctum
says 5 minutes
i disagree… two is enough imo
i think pirates are classed as outlaws
they need to make other stuff equally attractive (which -if i recall correctly- they were planning on doing for dungeons) not lock people out of content
get a theifandormesmers to stealth run it to the first well then…:
(not me)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg60XyM24uk&feature=plcp
i considered making a thread in suggestions… but figured that it was so similar it was probably demoted for some reason…
Hmm, gives me an idea… use a thief to get a mesmer into spawn point then portal bomb with like 40 players. Amirite?
and do what? die because you’re fighting invicible players? good plan.
I meant Drake special attacks don’t count because even if the special attack is ranged, the Drake is not.
I’m talking about full ranged pets (auto-attack + all of the pet skills = ranged)
Spiders are ranged indeed.
Would like to see more of them.As for the modes, I think it’d be a nice alternative.
If Rangers are supposed to be about Pets, then I think the Pets should have more perks than they do now.
They feel very bland.Only 1 special ability is meh.
Maybe they could get 1 or 2 extra special abilities, and in some cases one of the extra abilities could be a ranged mode toggle (monkeys throwing pebbles, for example, and drakes using elemental spit attacks).
i meant that some drakes are somewhat hybrid (IMO they offer the most utility in a pet, the finishers and the group damaging – i still never use them though)
yes; more ranged pets (or more pets altogether) would be nice, i disagree with your ranged/melee suggestion
armoursmith and weaponsmith imo, have an alt with jeweller+chef (can get pricey to keep switching disciplines)
did you just compare a minor master traits healing (that requires no skill/weapon changes) to a major grandmaster one that only works with shouts?
…
thats a totally fair comparison…
would be nice… could just be a coloured overlay on each tool?… though now ive just gotten lazy and harvest everything with ori tools "/
huh? the only link i can see between exotics and keys is the possible MF booster… but food+guildbanner should be enough
exotics are easily obtained from higher level map completion; or slightly harder through BoH and dungeon vendors/fotm drops (so; if you havent gotten an exotic at lvl 80; you’re playing wrong)
Drake ranged activated abilities have nothing to do with this thread.
Their range isn’t great, they are slow to activate, and kind of suck to be honest.
I mean more pets with ranged – 900-1200 range – auto-attacks
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lightning_Breath (600)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Insect_Swarm (900)
You can use Short bow or long bow while your pet melees.
Would be nice to be able to use melee weapon while the pet attacks from afar.
you can… you can equip a spider/devourer
I don’t see what’d be so wrong with allowing pets to change modes, when you can change weapons yourself.
Please explain the “unbalance” in this.
i liken pets to weapon sets, most classes get two (ele/engi being the exceptions) meaning you are forced to choose which weapons abilities you forego
- theres nothing stopping you from having a melee pet and a ranged pet (and switching when you decide to change your distance)
We already got a few ranged pets… as already mentioned.
Devourers and… some spiders. Not all spiders are, but I know at least one of them is.
Wouldn’t hurt to have more pets I guess, although we already have quite a few.
I don’t really wanna see gorilla or monkey… or hedgehog.
But a ranged drake… why not… Anet seems to like drakes.
all spiders are ranged.
it even has a similar ground marking…
