i barely have an issue with them missing anymore (except having to stand still to hit environmental objects with lightning whip… that sucks)
i also regularly hit fire grab at max range on multiple opponents
i think its most important to keep your character facing whatever you’re trying to hit (i circle around enemies using lightning whip continuously moving the camera to keep the enemy in the middle of the screen… if that makes sense)
anyone requiring lvl 80 for AC, CM and TA are terrible players imo
ive had brilliant; fast runs with sub 80 players; ive also had horrible train wreck runs with full 80 exo players
- more than that; players should check lower level characters achievement points to ascertain whether or not they’re a ‘newbie’

42/77 mystic clovers atm; and its tedious having to re-select each time
People run into a 0/10/0/30/30, full PVT + clerics D/D Ele. That guy can take alot of punishment (his damage output is pathetic tho), and escapes 5 people chasing him. -> “OMG D/D SO TANKY!”
Then people run into a D/D that uses 0/20/0/20/30 or w/e, lots of knights/valkyries, maybe even some zerker in there. That guy delivers quite some burst and DPS -> “OMG D/D SO MUCH DAMAGE!”.
And then they come to the following conclusion: “OMG D/D SO TANKY & D/D SO MUCH DAMAGE!”. This is nonsense tho, because basically, these have been 2 different builds.

i ran a bunker in WvW… didnt die but couldnt kill anyone before reinforcements came
i currently run 0/20/0/30/20 (wvw/pve) with a lot less defensive (/more offensive – knights/zerkers with soldier daggers -when i switch to my rampager staff i become a lot more squishy) stats and die a lot easier; but kill people alot easier (still not as easy as some other classes; but the versatility makes up for it)

static field is nice as it is now (auto stunning anyone in it would be OP)
i dont see why unsteady ground was changed…the cripple is so short the only use i find for it is if they’re snared with earth5 before hand… the the cripple duration even after that is horrible)
gale, and focus overall definitely need some attention; its just horrible; and the useful abilities are far too situational to warrant constantly using it
- id also love to see the old phoenix (size) and arc lightning (no horrible glitchy beam) back… they were awesome
+1 to it either:
- pulling enemies inwards (not like ‘into the void’… which shoots them out the other side… because that almost as annoying as knocking them away)
- blocking projectiles

Any elemental but the earth elemental dies in 2-3 hits in a dungeon, especially fractals. Elementals die even faster in wvw. And, to be honest, they do no damage whatsoever to begin with.
i really like my elementals (mostly air and water) in dungeons…
earth if the enemies are bursty
water if they’re a little less bursty
air for ranged (im not sure how close it goes to an enemy; but it can hit them at 1200 range- meaning you can often summon it out of harms way and let it just snipe w/e)
fire for low threat bosses (like… fyona i think it is? the spider woman in TA)
also i think fiery greatsword should cycle skills (and appearance) with attunements…
(although i dont have any female characters) +1 (would also like to see variety for charr/sylvari lich forms too)

steal isnt thiefs only class mechanic… it also has initiative/dual skills, for that reason i dont think stealth needs reworking – especially through the addition of more f’x’ spots)

id actually prefer it if all cultural armour cost the same as T3… T3 offers a sort of prestige… but sometimes the T1/2 stuff looks better (i kinda think that t3 human light armour is only t3 because the female version is skimpy)
Ok just turned level 67 on my Sylvari D/D Ele, really loving it and it’s my favourite amongst the classes so far. However I want to set myself apart from the typical build set up for these. Atm I am 6/0/10/15/20, originally I intended to put 10 into fire but I’m now going change this for 10 air for zephry’s boon. I intend to put 30 into my arcana, 15 water, 25 earth, and leaving fire on 0. I’d like to focus on earth for personal role playing issues as I am a Sylvari class and feel naturally drawn to that element
So far I have earth’s embrace trait (life saver), Cleansing water for water, elemental attunement for arcana and windborne daggers, (I was using this as an alternative to putting points into air) Any advice on where to put the rest of my points, and could you see this being a viable build? Thanks
im not extremely knowledgable about lore… but wouldnt water be more attractive to a sylvari than earth? even the warden weapons have water blades (atleast; thats what i assume it is)
the obvious solution is to get rid of the junk; you can throw the seals/medallions into the mystic toilet and refine the unrefined mats for a start
each piece of armour retains its dye selection after being unequipped (the OoW chestpiece i bought on my mesmer and transmumagicked it over to ele even retained my mesmers colour scheme – some of colours weren even unlocked on my ele); its expensive but you could buy extra armour sets for each colour scheme?
I find it a bit funny that people only suggest Ground Targeting for it. Personally, I think it would be interesting to see it Home on the target instead. Maybe that would be a bit too good then, but it certainly would be interesting. I mostly play with staff on pve so I can’t really comment on what would and wouldn’t be balance. But I do understand how useless it is now.
having the tooth follow the target would NOT be overpowered so long as you could still prevent it landing by dodging as it went off.

if i see a D/D in a dungeon sticking on one attunement; i will bring it up
scepter doesnt seem to switch as much… because pure damage is done better by other weapons, only two of the auto attacks inflict condition damage (meanign condition specs do very little in air/water – the only reason to switch to water is to heal/cleanse because its auto attack/shatterstone are so horribly UP, air for blind/lightning strike damage packet… but then that sticks you in a long -lacklustre damage- channel attack)
if i see a staff ele sticking in fire i think nothing of it… unless they ignore teammates going down/getting loaded up with conditions and dont change to water to cleanse (/earth to blast into a water field) or fail to immob/cripple/chill a mob that the rest of the team is trying to kite (notably AC troll… ive never seen a staff ele except me immob>cripple wall/chill him – i also ‘stoning’ him during his fight with kholer; to make the fight more even)

Zephers boon works differently for different auras. Lighting aura gives double buff durations.
i didnt count updraft because i only ever use it for swiftness at the start of a run, it dodges backwards (i suppose if you have a button hotkeyed to about face it doesnt matter) and i hate heving in on CD at the start of a battle (RTL>updraft being my -and just about every other D/D eles – fight initiator)
- i also went and checked lightning aura swiftness duration shortly after posting; my speculation was incorrect… seems like an anomaly/bug though

if you find being tanky too easy then slowly decrease your tankiness; and increase you’re DPS till you’re at a stage you feel comfortable with
i much prefer verying degrees of balance to going either full tank or full glass
that said… very high damage builds>very tanky builds in most dungeons
warr can reflect on block (ad that suggestion… doesnt sound very… warr-like)
ele can block projectiles with… i cant remember the name… air focus skill (though focus is really sucky… so it could do with a buff; or reflect projectiles with magnetic aura – which can be very useful in WvW combined with powerful aura xD)
ability to move during whirling defence would be better than a size increase imo
necro… could use something i suppose… spectral wall/armour would be good options
barely play engi; and use rifle… but they do have the elixer that can block/reflect projectiles when thrown… shame it has a 1/3 chance of becoming veil

perhaps it will get players used to doing the combo mechanic because there is incentive.
the incentive is the effects; this would penalise solo players (as in… low server population players) and would lead to players not doing anything but comboes on a champ to get the best loot

Except it’s not T3 cultural. I have T3 and it certainly doesn’t look like that. I also don’t have any idea which armour it might be – I suspect that it’s not in-game.

i still rip through enemies when im downlevelled (well… except on my necro/mesmer… which are condi specs… and i hate mesmer in PvE)… just do it marginally slower than i did pre patch (still much faster than my alts levelling in the same zone)
I got dem divinity runes today. Best all-around runes you can find for any build.

Oh. Well, I’ve got x2 Superior Rune of the Water, x2 Major Rune of the Water, and x2 Superior Rune of the Monk for the +40% boon duration. My build is one of those auramancer builds. 0/10/10/30/20. That’s why I really want the boon duration. :P
I’m sure there are other good options out there, but I dunno’ what they are.

hmm… hadnt thought of that; 35 Hpower and a chance to heal/cleanse sounds like too much of a sacrifice to me (i dont really feel like im lacking boon duration… but figured if im changing runes i may as well change them to whats standard)… though i came to a conclusion whilst checking another thread; i much prefer active cleansing to passive cleansing… and by extension i realised i much prefer passive healing to passive cleansing

I like the way it is now. The only thing about weapons i don’t get is two handed axe overall (but maybe the reason is that it’s pro-warrior weapon).

im currently running 6 vampirism… but the mist form isnt great with the low healthpool (and i tend to end up activating my mist form just after it activates…), and i -normally- use signet of restoration (making its leech after heal pointless – i geared up whilst i was mostly using ether renewal)… figured id try some healing power and boon duration (currently at 3xx/20%)

Woo, you can move an entire squad behind enemy defenses without them noticing.

id prefer to see spearguns become terrestrial weapons… it wouldnt make sense… but shooting zombies through the face with a harpoon seems very OTT warrior to me

because as the 2H weapons work now, they are slightly underpowered compared to a combo of wielding 2 1H weapons
i already didnt like the idea… so i stopped reading after that; 2H weapons are stronger than 1Hs in most/all (i dont know… cba to check) cases; this is offset by the added utility of an aoffhand and a second sigil (although with the cooldown limitation – meaning the only reliable sigils you can put on an offhand are stacking ones (which persist after a switch anyway), accuracy and force)

i would like to see an out of combat weapon swap for ele (so i dont have to open up my inven and equip staff each time i need range; and then swap back to d/d when i dont)
but i dont see the need on engi… rifle or pistol? they both serve different builds (but the same-ish function)… p/p or p/s? implementing a weapon swap just for that seems a bit pointless…
So what do you want? More speed out of combat? Temporal Curtain lasts for 12 seconds whereas Symbol of Swiftness lasts for only 9 1/2 seconds. And again try using GS leap out of combat on a Guardian. As I stated above by the time you click the skill and it activates you at the most shave a 1/2 second off of what it would take to run that distance at normal speed. and then you have a 12 second cd. As well GS leap is highly dependant on the orientation of your character at teh time you activate it. Try jumping in a straight line using GS leap, it is difficult to do UNLESS you have a target.
i used GS 3 (well… 2 when i used gs on my guardian) often to cover more ground; i fairly sure it aids out of combat mobility (unless you have lag… but all movement skills suffer from lag jitter)
– and why is it difficult to jump in a line? it just goes in the direction of your character… unless you have auto targetting on?
It still doesn’t balance Sword/Pistol with other sets as far as Finishers.
so every weapon should be able to perform the same combos? have the same amount of finishers/fields? your take on balancing is very boring
id much rather they remove them from PvE before doing this…

no; i was using your post to clarify on why building a defensive/support character without condition removal is a ‘blunder’
I’d be OK with how you have it listed, including the stun breaker if it’s an elite skill. You’re then forced to make a conscious decision between group utility (time warp and mass invisibility), dueling potential (moa morph), or point A to point B mobility.
We also already have five stun breakers. You forgot the second skill in the Illusionary Leap skill chain. Adding a sixth might be overkill if it isn’t an elite.
