Everytime a thief uses, for example, shadow refuge everyone stops to attack and start to running away.

the annoying thing is; if you kill them whilst in shadow refuge (because you dont have CC available to pull them out) you have to hang around spamming attacks because they could be downed but still invisible; and healing up. several times ive hung around after a shdow refuge to find a downed thief… and several times ive hung around trying to stop a downed thief bandaging themselves up (if there is one; because how am i supposed to know?) and get hit again by the same thief who managed to run away and reset

The simple fact that you have to invest 10 extra traitpoints to do something that Plague of Pestilence do without any investment (not as good, of course) is something you have to take into consideration.

why not take offhand dagger over warhorn? aoe weakness is pretty good against zergs

  • +30% condition duration has little benefits on this build.

Axe is used for the AoE boon stripping, cripple and 18 seconds of retaliation that (when synergized with warhorn 5 and plague) leaves you crippling, chilling, blinding, poisoning, retaliation damage and 2 lots of Vampiric & Vampiric Precision every second to 5 targets.

  • With easy access to Cripple, Chill, Poison, Bleed and Vulnerability you naturally already do 10% from Target the Weak, then throw in ally conditions.



Hell, Focused Rituals is absolutely awful, and literally only good for killing the bad players out of a zerg.

lets assume you are correct (which… you arent really; aoe bombing places is ridiculously useful, especially when people stack up and/or wall supression… well of corruption is also amazing for stripping ret/stability off of people without having to stand next to them)… by killing the bad players you’re leaving the good players without meatshields and numbers to hide behind

why do you even have Plague Form on this?

Did he just ask why a necro would have plague form for WvW?

sidestepping is rarely a problem for me in wvw; im sure it homes in on them (much like life blast)? or maybe i just chase down bad players *shrug*

outrunning it is annoying... it would be nice if the projectile was faster

blocked? its unblockable? i often hit through aegis, shield stance and... wow i cant remember the name... guardians block whilst healing... and teleport to them

if the projectile is thrown out it doesnt disappear if you leave deathshroud?

why do you need to switch target 30 times before you target him? o0... sounds like you got outplayed

If you’re gonna go hybrid, at least go full zerk on all jewellery, they give better returns for each crit damage % than armor compared to other stats.

I"ll probably be doing two ascended rings and an ascended amulet right off the bat.

for exotics this guide is helpful, if you’re going to get non zerker/valk armour then its best for it to be the helm or legs (followed by chest)

Thanks! This gave me a lot to think about. Would you recommend getting valk gear on a necro with our already high base hp? Everyone I’ve seen says we benefit from extra toughness far more.

i only mentioned valk because it has crit damage as a stat (same with cavalier; but cavalier isnt currently obtainable for armour/weapons)… i dont really see a use for valk outside of hidden killer thieves or arcane eles (but im sure im wrong)

Locust is bugged, Vampiric (turns damage portion into siphon) and Bloodthirst (increases both of the scailings) pretty much doubles its heal and its on a 5 target damage ratio, it heals of everything in aoe of the targeted enemy.
Its pretty much a 40%~ heal vs a swarm, but in most cases the movement speed will save your kitten as a necro instead of the heal (especially now with no DS absorbtion).

vampric was included in my calculations

38*5 =190 from bloodthirsted vampiric

assuming signet of the locust hits 5 enemies it heals an additional 190 health

… though i didnt realise bloodthirst affected SotL (i suppose i have some testing to do… but ill leave it till later… tomorrow… day after… sometime)
which i suppose would make

838*5 = 4190 heal

(838*1.5)*5 = 6285 heal (i think; not sure if it calculates like that…)
but the partywide mitigation on WoD would likely still make up for the healing discrepency (as well as having a 20s shorter CD than signet of the locust with trolls build
im too lazy to the math with spectral armour (how much damage you would need to be taking to outsustain SotL through protection mitigation and ‘life force healing’)

Because when you’re surrounded by numerous enemies, it can almost heal you fully, that’s why.

i still dont understand why youd take it over other good options in any fractal/dungeon except dredge (because dodging all dredge damage is... unlikely... well... without a good guard and blind immune... actually... even then... stun break, protection and deathshroud ’healing’ seems like it would be pretty nice)

778*5= 3890 heal
300 healing power from bloodmagic... wiki states signet of the locust grants a 20% benefit from healing power... does that mean 300*0.2 = 60 extra health per target?
838*5 = 4190 heal

38*5 =190 from bloodthirsted vampiric
4190+190 = 4380... i dont see how that heals you ’almost fully’, or am i missing something?

well of darkness would heal for
(63*5)*5)+((38*5)*5) = 2525 health in the same circumstances (but over 5 seconds) whilst mitigating damage for the whole party (unless... dredge...)

just realised the well of darkness math seems a bit weird...
63 = bloodthirsted vampiric rituals
63*5 = 5 targets being hit by vampiric rituals
(63*5)*5 = 5 targets being hit by vampiric rituals over the 5 second well of darkness duration

5 is the aoe cap right? or did i make that up?

If being stuck on a tower trying to take it for 2 hours is steamrolling i’d like to know what slow play for you is. Hell you could have capped the whole of Kodash’s 3rd in EB quicker than it took to take 1 tower.

great; use an example of an event i wasnt even at to try to devalue my opinion
whilst i was playing we were literally steamrolling everything (we moved to EB because we had all three of the borderlands); it was pathetic (not that im saying kodash/piken are bad servers; its just deso has a strong night-time force from fighting viz all the time, whilst piken/kodash seem to have very few people online at that time – during day time you probably put up a good fight, but your night time forces are a lot lot lot weaker than desos)

… also why did the kodash who were defending redBL garri (a few hours ago) leave the golems in there when it was clear they didnt have the numbers (there was… 3 or 4 of you?… which was sad because that garri seemed to be sieged up like crazy) to keep us out?…

surprisingly i had some fun with a kodashian mesmer last night at… cliff….dawns… something or other, but im finding it hard to play wvw atm; just because this match up is horribly boring whilst i play

Why are us Europeans so offended by the naked form? lol in our Pagan days we ran into battle butt naked to scare our opponents with our tally wackers those who QQ are too attached to their clothes let your body breath once in awhile.

Good fun tonight on Deso bl running into [SPRT] on more than one occasion [AFTL] didn’t quite have the numbers to take you on but we did try lol, there was some friendly exchanges between our commanders in regards to chasing Carcasstro our guild leader around Hills etc and when we tried to kamikazee you in Redvale supply camp only to find our zerg appeared from nowhere and smashed the place up lol.

I actually play the game naked in this weather. You never wanted to know that, but now you do mwhahahaha

I say change burning to do the same damage as poison and make it so for as long as a target is burning, they also have the revealed debuff.

yay; lets nerf condition damage just to counter one mechanic(!)

the best way to deal with stealth detection in my opinion is to still have the damage numbers pop up when you hit a stealthed player (direct damage numbers; not condition damage numbers; else stealth becomes horribly UP)

Mesmer mantra build is quite effective, actually. I play a guardian and ele as well but neither can keep up with how much healing my mantras do. 2k per cast and mantra of pain is almost always up.

Only problem is you have to be relatively close.

in doing less damage you’re letting the party take more damage

Yeah I’ve just gotten into the habit of leaving the instance before leaving party, takes the same amount of time and the button doesn’t show up until you have received the token reward. All bases covered :]

the problem with me doing that is; im crazy
i dont want to ‘hang around’ in a party (due to my long loading screens) and make people think i want them to do more, or i want to do more
i like the closure of knowing; im not in a party whilst that loading screen is up otherwise i start going all paranoid

I’m sure stealth is great for all you PvP and WvW players who run away at the first sign of resistance, but it came at the expense of a fantastic PvE skill which is now effectively dead space on the skill bar.

stealth isnt only useful for running away…
being focused? stealth; pop; lost target
want to get close to someone without them seeing you? stealth; pop; maul
want to stomp someone? stealth; impale

How do you do this by accident? Are you really in such a hurry to disband the party? You can just leave the instance first, and the loading of the next area gives more than enough time for the slackers to make it to the chest, then you can leave party and boot everyone.

hmm… im sure i made a post about it, but cant find it in my post history

it was something to do with

it wasnt the chest; it was the end loot (tokens, karma, exp and silver)
2 or 3 players had died (icr… was ages ago… think it was 2) quite early on in the alpha fight> killed alpha>ressed them>checked alphas corpse>said bye>left
… but then i got whispered by two players (one of which was quite abusive… but understandable) that i left and closed the dungeon before we got tokens… i came to the conclusion that one of the dead people must have been afk and so didnt skip the cutscene (i dont even register the cutscenes anymore… i have some sort of automatic response to close them… i replayed arah story a few months back with a cutscene watching group… i kept skipping the half cutscenes by accident because its just what i automatically do when the fade in starts appearing) and since they were still in the cutscene the chest hadnt appeared (which i dont really register either)

Ok I had to stop reading this thread because my brain started hurting but am I the only one who noticed the thread was complaining about the lack of vuln on hunter’s shot now but turned into Zenith agreeing the change was crap and used the fact 2 Warriors can keep vuln up to the stack permanently as proof?

If the Warriors can keep the vuln up, who cares where it gets stuck on Rangers?

Or, you can take one ranger or one engi and keep up 25 vuln by them alone…. Logic, kitten it.

Uh, post patch? Take remorseless, use a longbow, that’s 25 vuln at opening, 20 of which is super easy to maintain, and he was saying in his dungeon group nothing lived long enough for the 25 to fall off, so there ya have it.

There are a couple guardian builds than fit this quite nicely. “Cleric’s support healer” isn’t one of them. You are slowing your team down.

good point… lower damage = longer fights = more damage your team recieves (or more chance of fudging a dodge)

What skills do thieves have for 100% uptime on weakness?

dagger auto-attack + Lotus Poison trait.

That trait has a 20 second cooldown, unless the ICD was removed.

Now it does, yes. Before the last balance patch, though, thieves had a stupidly easy time making sure you didn’t dodge much.

LF 30/0/10/0/30 Footage

I personally dont like using a staff in a 30/0/10/0/30 build the dps from a dagger/dagger/horn only helps you kill that target faster and enfeebling blood reduces their dps output, which is why I like 30/15/0/0/25. Get fury and enfeebling blood with a quick ds flip. However, I do run knights gear and an equal mix of zerker/pvt trinkets with the ruby orb oh and I run with well of darkness now so that I can stomp people as well as help kill their dps

if you enter DS whilst holding a staff your attacks do more damage than if you entered with a dagger

axe (with trait)>staff>dagger>scpter>axe (the last three is debatable… dagger is the most stable, axe has the highest possible-out of the three)

… im also unsure as to whether sigil of force would affect deathshroud…
