I created my own personal guild and researched the extra storage. I’ve got 8 toons with only one acting as a mule. The stuff that can’t go into my guild bank either ends up in my personal bank or on the mule.

Built a bank guild (and a guild with bank for friends), but it isn’t really useful for stuff like fractal potions and food…

DAILIES

Before:

  • Play what you want, how you want, when you want and get rewarded naturally with stuff, experience and AP for loyally playing the game.
  • Never go out of your way if you don’t want to and still get it naturally.
  • Hop on your alt to do the dailies if you want an experience boost! Do them in places you like, when you like!

Now:

  • After the Dailies improvement, go and do what you’re told to get AP and experience, like it or not, whether you want or have the zones and classes you need or not, whether you log in at the correct time for the encounter or not. Do at least 3 or get no AP and experience.
  • Get punished for completing more challenging content instead of easier content which is on the list (Fractals 11 instead of 50, 4 Queensdale events instead of Wurm or Tequatl).
  • Use your character with max map completion and level to do the required stuff, because things are intentionally all over the place.

…AND MORE

  • No more gems in custom quantities Custom Exchange is back after an uproar.
  • No more parties with friends in Toypocalypse.
  • No more nodes, map icons, bundles, condies and other stuff which made you feel that you have a whole world to explore at early levels.
  • No more Fractals above 50.

Instant trait reset? Yes, it’s nice. Multi-server guilds? Yes, it’s nice. Joining friends on other servers? Yes, it’s nice. Higher Tequatl kill rates? Yes, it’s nice. More loot for levelups and dailies? Yes, it’s nice.

But making one step forward doesn’t mean you always have to make two steps back. And giving freedom with features doesn’t require casting an illusion of content.

"Play How I Want" Is Gone

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

The “Play How I Want” concept of the originally developed and advertised game (disregarding the origin of the quote) is steadily fading away with every patch:

It’s extremely important that we stay true to our philosophy that you should be able to play Guild Wars 2 the way you want to play the game in order to reach the most powerful rewards. — from Colin Johanson on Guild Wars 2 in the Months Ahead, January 2013

Of course it’s not only about “most powerful rewards” (even if enjoyment is the best reward you can get from a game), but about the overall feeling of freedom the game had – which definitely existed and which is the reason “Play How I Want” quote became so popular and went far beyond the meaning of “get BiS gear anywhere” in the community.

How did it happen?

WORLD BOSSES

Before:

  • Open an online timer for your server, group with like-minded players and do events that you want when you want. Feel yourself as a hero who willingly saves Tyria from daily threats! Feel how the world is living and changing because of you, coordinate with people and announce the next boss you gonna beat!
  • Beat a world boss with some 3-5 people next to you at low hours, and feel great because it was challenging and fun! Or do not beat it and understand that your efforts were not enough and you should get better.

Now:

  • After the Megaservers improvement, put a list of times for world bosses next to your PC and stop doing whatever you were doing offline to join the boss you want to play. Feel like you’re doing a scheduled task at your job in the office.
  • Always be accompanied by a megazerg, tag and spam “111” to win. No need to know the encounter, you won’t see anything because of particle effects and lags.

HOME WORLDS

Before:

  • Choose a server you like, be it a Spanish server or an unofficial RP server, speak the language of your choice and get to know “your” people.
  • See the same people, get acquainted and say “hi” on your favourite journeys.
  • Build a WvW community, recruit and ask for help!

Now:

  • After the Megaservers improvement, get placed with random people who speak different languages and can’t care less about you and your interests.
  • Meet random people you’ve never seen before and never will.
  • Forget about talking about WvW in map chat.

UNLOCKING TRAITS

Before:

  • Start leveling and get new stuff to make your build better (with 3 tiny payments) straight away. Do what you want and enjoy the aspects of the game you like! It doesn’t matter if it’s your 1st or 64th character, you simply play!

Now:

  • After the Trait improvement, grind all over the world (including WvW) with each and every character doing the same stuff over and over again. Or pay tons of money with gold and skillpoints (which you have to collect and which have gold value) to unlock it for each and every character.

UNLOCKING SKILLS

Before:

  • Start leveling and unlock new skills gradually and rapidly. Receive skillpoints to unlock skills here and now.
  • Do content depending on your skill, and not your level. 10th character? Will feel like a breeze!
  • Equip weapons and kill stuff to unlock all 5 weapon skills straight away. Love GS5 skill? Unlock it and use it now!

Now:

  • After the NPE improvement, start leveling and grind with “1111211112” to the level where you can unlock the skills. Wait for levels to get some skillpoints.
  • Do content depending on your level, and not earlier. 10th character? Your problem.

PERSONAL STORY

Before:

  • Play PS when you want and how you want. Experienced? Jump above the level requirement and beat it because you can!

Now:

  • After the NPE improvement, play PS in chunks when they know for sure you can beat it and won’t uninstall the game from the frustration of understanding that you’re not skilled enough. Experienced and want challenge? Your problem, grind and wait.

EXPLORATION

Before:

  • Walk around the world and feel like a free hero. Do what you want when you want.

Now:

  • After the NPE improvement, follow the arrows (and press [F] to win). No need to make decisions.

The real problem with the Bell choir game

You mean real harp or gw2 harp?

GW2 harp, I’m bad with real world instruments.

Personally, I just place my fingers on the relevant keys from the start (1 hand on 1-4 and the other on 6-9).

I did it like that last year and do it now. But I discovered that I’m performing way better with 2-3 fingers on the numpad instead. Which I can’t really use here… unless I make an overlay with numbers, which I might (since it’s not modifying anything, it’s allowed).

They’re making short-term decisions which make metrics look better in the short term, but will IMO kill the game in the long-term by alienating loyal players which were willing to support the game.

Once loyal players are gone and they’re out of new players, the game will die. But it will happen tomorrow, while today everything looks better and the money keep coming – which is perfectly sensible from the business point of view if you’ve been hired for a certain period of time and are not working on a product which should make everyone happy and feed you till the rest of your.

Of course you could buy some more inventory space in the Gem Store …. although I’m sure that ANet wouldn’t deliberately push you in that direction …..

I’m at full 8 bag slots with 20 slot bags on 2 characters, main and second main. These are already more than half full with dungeon potions, food, alternate gear, overflowing mithril/wood/ore/dust/fragments, consumables, tonics, toys, geodes/crests/flavour of the month currencies… And that’s with 2 Copper- and 2 Silver-o-matics and a set of infinite gathering tools!

When I open Halloween and Wintersday bags, it’s overflowing with all the trashy skins, tonics and bags-of-bags-of-bags.

I kinda would buy more bags if I could. But I can’t.

I’m just going to sum up the ridiculous opposition here:

1. We don’t care that we’re getting rewarded more. That’s not the point.
2. We don’t care that it takes less time to get those greater rewards. That’s not the point.
3. We don’t care long-time marginalized groups benefit greatly from the changes (AP Hunters, PvPers, to a slightly lesser extent, WvWers). That’s not the point.

So what’s the point?

1. We want to never be pushed outside our comfort zones. That’s the point.

2. We want to expend absolutely no additional effort in order to attain any daily achievements. They should come as a natural byproduct of what we happened to be doing anyway. That’s the point.

Quoted for truth.

Prize for the worst one so far: complete a level 11-20 fractals. The sheer terrible thought process that decided that should get anywhere near a list shows how out of touch whoever thought of it is.

Running 49-50 every day and 31 if I have time. Screw me for doing more challenging content, no Tomes and Relics for beating harder stuff than required!

To all those self-entitled people, I will just leave this here.

To all those non-entitled people not reading the posts, I’ll leave this here:

And don’t even start talking about “achieving”! Beating Liadri was an achievement, collecting 4 plants in Maguuma, tagging 4 events in QD and looking for stuff to MF on multiple characters (all clean sold and salvaged, as always) is nothing more than grind.

Okay, so I spent 25 minutes doing dailies for AP and experience for alts instead of playing the new patch.

What should I like again about that change?

At least experience is bottled and can be passed…

You got 10 AP instead of 3 AP and in less time than it would have taken to get 10 AP.

Sounds like a win to me. 7 more ap than before, and in a lot less time.

Sigh. Let me repeat the math for you:

Earlier:

  • 6-8 AP in 0 minutes of dedicated grindning. I play the content I want and get rewarded for playing.

Now:

  • 10 AP in 20-30 minutes of dedicated grindning or nothing. I have to play the content I couldn’t care less about to get rewarded AT ALL.

I don’t know about you, but I consider 20 minutes (if you scale it to the previous 6-8 AP) of my playtime (which is part of my limited life actually) to be a considerable amount of time to spend on things I do not like. I already have daily timegated crafting, gathering and charging (as well as other timegated stuff like dungeons and fractals which I can’t simply save for weekends), and I despise another forced daily grind.

And don’t even start talking about “achieving”! Beating Liadri was an achievement, collecting 4 plants in Maguuma, tagging 4 events in QD and looking for stuff to MF on multiple characters (all clean sold and salvaged, as always) is nothing more than grind.

ANet wanted to force us into content we didn’t want to play to boost metrics; they definitely succeeded in it. What they failed to see though and what they will feel in the long run, despite their perfect metrics, is that once again they killed my will to buy any amount of gems with real money despite the good content they recently released – which happens again, over and over, with traits, NPE, fixed GEM exchange and cheap F2P daily systems.

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lishtenbird.2814

Disliked it 5 days ago, dislike it now.

The new Daily system which hand-holds clueless and aimless players is, accidentally, once again leading to additional limits and constraints for loyal veteran players, which will turn dailies for casual players into even more of a chore and annoyance – just like the Traits (67 pages) and NPE (17 pages) changes did.

PROBLEM

According to this article, players will only have 4 fixed PvE dailies, and they will have to do at least 3 of them to get the daily reward. However, the problem is not with the amount, but with the requirements of new dailies:

  • Daily Ascalon Forager
  • Daily Maguuma Wastes Vista Viewer
  • Daily Malchor’s Leap Event Completer
  • Daily Fire Elemental

Let’s look at what this means:

  • Bring your character to a region you might not have or don’t want to explore yet (new Sylvari player in Caledon Forest) to harvest stuff there.
  • Bring your level 80 character which you might not have to a region you might not have or don’t want to explore yet and find a vista there.
  • Bring your almost level 80 character which you might not have to a region you might not have or don’t want to explore yet and look for events across that map.
  • Log in at specific time after looking up times at external websites (no in-game schedule exists) and bring your character to a region you might not have or don’t want to explore yet.

How is it different from the current PvE dailies?

  • Daily Kills
  • Daily Reviver
  • Daily Events
  • Daily Gatherer
  • Daily Leveler
  • Condition Applier
  • Daily Kill Variety
  • Daily Recycler

Let’s look at what this meant:

  • Kill stuff while playing the game when, where and how you want.
  • Revive stuff while playing the game when, where and how you want.
  • Do stuff while playing the game when, where and how you want.
  • Gather stuff while playing the game when, where and how you want.
  • Do enough stuff to get a level while playing the game when, where and how you want.
  • Spam different skills while playing the game when, where and how you want.
  • Kill different stuff while playing the game when, where and how you want.
  • Salvage stuff you get while playing the game when, where and how you want.

In other words, you were rewarded for simply playing the game; unless you were an achievement hunter, it felt natural and it was rather hard not to get dailies while playing PvE. (I think it would be safe to assume that most casual players do not ever step into WvW/PvP; however, the new PvP dailies will have variations of the same problematic concept, like “win a game on a class you don’t know”).

With NPE in mind, I see where there problem lay: completely new players felt clueless and didn’t know what to do! So just as with “go to this vista and press F, go to this PoI and you don’t even have to press F…” system, the new dailies are telling people what they can do. The problem is, though… there are next to no options!

BACKGROUND

These threads from the past are worth noting:

  • Only 10 Daily Achivements? – an 8-page thread from 7 months ago where players are annoyed since they’re forced to do specific PvE dailies because of lack of choices. Result: increase in choices.
  • Please make dailies feel more natural – a thread about making dailies feel enjoyable instead of forced.
  • Daily Orrian killer – adding a daily with unnatural requirements caused a lot of distress, and it was still only a subset from a large pool.

SOLUTION

Unsurprisingly, the solution is simple: add at least 3 permanent choices for dailies which come naturally while playing. You know, something from this set:

  • Daily Leveler
  • Daily Kills
  • Daily Events
  • Daily Gatherer
  • Daily Recycler
  • Daily Dodger

This way, playing players will be happily getting rewards for playing, and those who need directions or extra rewards, can do the specific stuff.

WHY THIS THREAD IS IMPORTANT and SHOULD NOT BE MERGED

Because threads like this one will appear in tens, if not hundreds when the patch hits. We’ve seen it with megaservers, traits, town clothes, commander tags, gem exchange… well, with all the changes which had easily predictable outcomes which were pointed at by the community, but were implemented regardless because they were already planned to.

So maybe, this time it’s better to listen to players before making this change? It will save so much time for everyone. Thank you.

I’d personally go for fox ones. But actually, if these are not toy-like (like narwhalsbend posted) but instead are furry, realistic and fully dyeable, then we can have pretty much the whole assortment of different cone-type animal ears within one single skin.

My 7th and 8th characters are on their way to level 80. Luckily, one of those was grandfathered from the old system (I think…), and the other one… oh well, it’s not like I’m going to play it a lot anyway.

Now I also got a lvl20 scroll from an AP chest and am wondering whether I should make a 9th character of a duplicate class… probably not.

Keep on keeping on!

Will do.

Still think the OP is far too biased, would be nice to set out a forum topic that simply lists community listed pros, cons, and leaves out any and all personal opinion so that a straight comparison can be achieved

You can show me an example of how you would like to see it done by rewriting one of the existing ones (preferably the already revised). Then we’ll see what can be done to reach a compromise in including “personal opinions” from both sides.

You are missing out valid reasons for mounts

I will try to extend the pros with some of your arguments, thanks for bringing those up.

and although I’m not going to do thorough research like you to aggregate posts what I see here is because of the thousands of post made on this you have just taken the most common few in the arguments.

See, this is the problem. People see some pros are missing but instead of summarising and presenting what they know, they just bash the thread because it’s easier and faster.

Unfortunately there are valid arguments still missing here from what has been posted already and even if an argument is new if its valid then excluding it from this post means the argument you are putting forward is being misrepresented.

Reference threads are there for a reason; most common things will be listed, everything else can be read in the respective threads. But these posts can serve as a starting point for many players.

What also surprises me is how there’s no mention whatsoever of the vertical vs horizontal progression discussions (aka the legendary/ascended vs exotics argument, which is present in many, many threads including those that don’t specifically have that stated in their title, such as this one),

Ascended vs. exotics is a story of the past. CDI on vertical progression and topics on hor. vs vert. progression are linked in the “gear progression” topic. I will check that thread and see if I should put it into the reference list for that topic.

or the zerker dillema (which is discussed largely in association with the current pve meta).

It will be added when I have time, with the recent “This meta has to end” thread reviewed and linked. If you wish to, you can already start gathering bullet points for pros and cons. This will speed up the process.

The simplest solution would be adjusting the title (if nothing else, from ‘List’ to ‘Selection of controversial topics with associated arguments’ or the likes).

I don’t see a problem; “list” is a list, regardless of whether it’s ultimately full or not. Plus, the title character limit is rather harsh.

  1. You are unhappy because others can now get something “cheaper” than you. Instead of being happy for others, you get mad because you can no longer be a “special snowflake”. I think that’s egoism (sorry) and I do not approve of it.
  2. As stated in similar situations many times before, you grinded to have it then, before everyone else. You had that advantage and used it for some time. It’s like getting a new smartphone now when it just got released and is more expensive, and not when it gets on sale. Or like buying GW2 on a 25 dollar sale and with a free gemstore skin set – would you be willing to scrap your account at the moment for this “advantage”? No.
  3. A lot of people still craft multiple sets of identical gear (or buy identical Salvage-o-matics, gathering tools…) for the convenience of using it on multiple characters. You already have that convenience.
  4. No one knows what ANet gonna do with ascended in the future. It can work as precursor for legendary gear, it can receive switchable stats and runes via craftable upgrades for further horizontal progression.

Whoever made the arguments against #13 didn’t do much research did they?

I personally like the ideas of wings, uniforms and swimsuits and won’t be opposed to capes (though don’t really care), but these are the arguments people are giving. “Too anime” is really an argument for many people, one can’t just scrap it.

Thanks for reminding about datamined though.

As stated a 100 times before, while the current manifestation of his collection of views is far bigger, it still shares (at least some of) the bias, and that should be pointed out until the thread will truly provide what the title suggests – a comprehensive list of topics, rather than filtered out arguments for/against.

It’s still being revised. A matter of time.

Another controversial topic is probably condi cap for pve.

I don’t really think it’s “controversial” among the community, more like it is brought up because it’s been mentioned but nothing since.

And you haven’t artificially bloated your cons with self-evident statements (since that’s what you’re calling it)? Your Iphone statement is not only artificially bloated, but flat wrong (and also not self-evident). Apple regularly updates the Iphone’s operating system with new features, regularly adding more variety to what you can do. If you’re referring to the look of the phone. Almost all people have a case for their phone. The case shows their personality instead of the phone itself. If Variety was so confusing and overwhelming then all phone cases would be the same color and design.

If you’re so afraid that I’m unable to provide anything valuable, then you might want to take a closer look at yourself and your unsurprisingly biased opinions disguised as bipartisan forum arguments.

You totally missed the main strong argument of the iPhone analogy and went for strawman arguments. I think at this point it would be safe to assume that I touched a sensitive subject of yours and you’re now simply bashing the whole thread.

Calling players emotionally unstable teenagers for their opinion and telling them that for what their word is worth, they might as well pack up and go back to that other game? Not the best idea.

Rewritten that part. Having studied psychology, I believe this is an important aspect worth mentioning in the context, but I tried to make it more neutral now.

But where to draw the line?

How about where it was earlier: play for 30-40 minutes when, how, and what you want, and you will have earned your daily?

That’s false, the new system will be way faster depending on how many APs you are going for. To get the 10 APs to reach the count of the new system you need considerably more (way way more) time than the time you’d need after the update.

I’ve said it already. “On average” people log in and play what they want. Earlier, they would’ve gotten daily done automatically in 90% of cases – because it was, well, “daily”. Dedicated time to acquire daily AP was next to zero because people played and got it. Now, they would have to go and do stuff they’re not doing, which is always extra time.

won’t get any APs, the next you will get 10, the next 0, the next 10 etc, it’s how many APs you will get overall that counts and that would depend on the actual set-up of the new Achievements. I really think we should first see their new Achievement rotation and then decide.

And I’ve answered it already too. With that type of specific encounters, even 10-20% chance of hitting a daily with things I simply play is a miracle. So it’s ~45 AP per month instead of ~165, unless I go and spend extra time for those.

Full list? We can easily extrapolate it: “Do X events in zone Y”, “Gather in zone Z”, “Kill World Boss A”. It’s obvious that it won’t contain 3 options of “Daily any gatherer”, “Any killer” and “Any vista” every day… unless we players say it loud enough now so that they hear it and change it before rolling out.

How about peoople just wait first, until the change is there and people had a chance to experience, how the changes really play out.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Game-Updates-Traits/

Its so incredible ridiculous and pathetic, how people play themself up her,e as if they would be the fortunetellers per se in person, knowing everything how somethign will end up, without knowing anything at all, basing their half portion of knowlege they just have only on a very uninformative blog post, which tells us basically only the basics about the new system and nothing really very detailed

people make panically a huge ruckus out if this here, like turning super tiny mosqitos into super huge elephants…

They also take less time to do too.

Time to do the dailies now: 0-10 minutes.
Time to do the dailies after update: 10-30-… minutes.

Those who are doing all the APs already (or try to) will see a huge boost with the new system and everyone else will see a boost to everything else reward-wise. The only people who will be -slightly- penalized by the new system (AP wise only, not with other rewards) are those who do only 5 daily achievements per day with the current system.

I would argue that with the current system those people who simply play for an hour after school/work have their dailies done 90% of the time, and people who do it are the majority of players. I agree that this is an assumption, but I find it plausible, so it looks like the majority of players who are simply playing the game on a daily basis are the ones who are hurt most.

I guess the best option would be to add a 4 AP reward on each of the new dailies with a max of 12 each day (3 dailies * 4 AP each = 12). So the new daily max is the same as the old one and players who do only part of the achievements get their AP.

As a semi-solution, this sounds fair. Can be as well 2-5-10, 3-6-10 or 5-8-10 actually.

As for your actual problem (APs). Keep in mind that this “all or nothing” approach means one day you will get 10, the other 0, next one 10 etc, while with the old system, without trying you would get anywhere between 1 and 12. The key here is how many APs you will get over a much longer period of time. Don’t look at it “daily”….

As I said, I will be receiving ~15 AP (or less) instead of ~55 AP per ~10 days unless I go out of my way and do them. Most likely I will do them after the update, at least as long as I have sub-80 characters, but at what cost? Daily craft on 3 chars, daily home instance harvest and quartz charge – these already feel like a chore; will I be happy with spending at least extra 10-30 minutes (depending on the list) of forced content for dailies now instead of things I enjoy? Don’t think so. And that’s why the update feels discouraging, despite all the offered extra loot.

I have to go out of my way to get my legendary crafting materials, and precursor….

Anet…just let me kill 1000 monsters anywhere in the game world to let me get my legendary please!

If you want AP, do what it requires to get it, just like you would have to if you wanted to craft a legendary.

If you want the old daily rewards, just log in.

Talk about exaggerating.

I am doing the things currently required to get AP. Not all of them, but slow and steady. I am simply opposed to increase in requirement, which is equal to an AP nerf.

What you’re saying, though, is like ANet saying “now you need 2 gifts of exploration for a legendary and 777 clovers, but hey, we’ll give you 1 extra copper for each map and 1 clover every time you do a ‘kill X in Y at NN:NN’ daily!”

How exactly are you losing APs with the new system? 3 slightly more complex dailies over the FORCED WvW/PvP ones for the same amount of AP (10)????

Here’s my concern as a non-AP hunter who still wants natural AP progression for playing the game.

  • Currently, I can get about 5-6 dailies just by playing the game naturally – which is what an average playing player would get, I assume. That would mean around 55 AP in 10 days.
  • With the new system, while playing the game naturally I will hit the 3 dailies around 1 or 2 times in 10 days – which is 10-20 AP in 10 days.

Yes, I understand that it’s easier to get more AP.

But the problem is that to get any amount of AP at all, I have to go out of my way. It’s all or nothing, and my daily guild Teq, guild Fractals and dungeons and some new LS map will most of the time mean 0 AP.

You will get what you already got from the old dailies, laurels / coins /karma etc just by logging in. You don’t even NEED to do anything to get them anymore.

Until this is communicated better, I will be cautious – because past experience with ANet tells me I should. Phrases like “an additional sum of laurels” are triggering flags for me: additional to what, dailies? How much? Can I get Chauncey now, should I wait because I won’t have enough for more ascended? Etc., etc.

And regardless, AP are needed for other stuff – like AP skins and AP chest rewards. Now we won’t be able to get them by loyally playing the game – we need to grind specific stuff.

You say it will be a bad thing for “veteran” players and good for new ones, but it is the exact opposite. If youre a vet and you dont have map complete by now youre a pvp/wvw player and can do those dailies instead. Where if a new player has to go to an orr zone to do them they will be screwed.

It’s not that simple for me:

  • New players now know where to go and what to do instead of running around Tyria like headless chicken. They got more daily goals, more motivation to explore stuff – and get extra rewards. You achieve something you haven’t done before.
  • Veteran players have done this same stuff a thousand times already. Waypointing again, vistas again, laggy slow world boss zergs again, pressing F on nodes again, doing the same events again – but now in specific places. It’s pure grind at this point, there’s nothing about achieving things. It’s a chore.

One should also keep in mind that they are achievements. While this game is rather bad at actually making achievements something you achieve, the original idea is that you actually have to do (achieve) a very specific thing to complete an achievement.

Indeed. However… new Living Story achievements are achievements you are talking about, while “press F in this zone” and “tag this world boss at this time of day” are not. “Complete CoF p1 in under 10 minutes” sounds like an achievement, too.

I’m fine with achieving things. I like (soloable) stuff like Liadri every now and then. I don’t like boring and grindy stuff which feels like a chore. Currently my usual evening is about organised Tequatl guild spawn, level 49 fractal run, a couple of more or less speedcleared dungeons, and a bit of Flavour Of The Month map. As a chore, there’s also daily time-gated crafting on 3 characters (I ignore the daily Charged Quartz and home nodes though, too annoying). I’ve been to Taidha once recently while waiting for a guildy who wanted to finish it – and that was awfully boring for me.

I hope you are able to be chosen to be a Forum Specialist and would want to be one.

Once again, dumbing down and hand-holding for clueless players who migrated from Android games… which, accidentally, once again leads to additional limits and constraints for loyal veteran players.

Earlier:

  • Do what you want. Enjoy your time, casually play the game the way it was supposed to be played (leveling, events, gathering, dungeons, fractals…).
  • Get rewarded for playing the game.

Now:

  • Log in. Get rewarded for logging in!
  • Go out of your way and do things you do not like to get rewarded. Go to a place you do not like, go at a time which is inconvenient for you, do things you do not want.
  • Get rewarded for agreeing to do the content you didn’t want to do in the first place!

I do not like daily PvP and “competitive” PvP elitism. I do not like daily WvW and zergs. I once loved world bosses, but nerfs and megaservers ruined them for me. Why, why do I have to do it to get my supply of laurels and other important things?

This sounds like 2 cheap tricks to boost metrics for those who care about numbers more then about people, and make it look like there’s a lot of content in the game. Sad truth: there’s only “a lot of content in the game” when every player who enjoys specific type of content has enough of it, not when you force players to do stuff they don’t want.

ANet, before even rolling out this system, please see player’s concerns regarding forced specific daily requirements! I have a separate topic on it here because I think it’s important enough.

Thank you.

Kickstarter to provide funds for new content?

They have the money they need. They’re simply not listening to the community about how to spend it. I have to agree with Guhracie on this one, if they came out and said “we need money” I would only be willing to donate if they figured out the things that need to be changed (communication being number 1).

January 2015: Kickstarter funding successfully ends.

July 2015: ANet rolls out a paid expansion box with open world PvP, dueling, no waypoints, permadeath, level 100 cap, Transcendent gear, player to player trading, and playable dervish quaggans in clown outfits with capes riding flying mounts (Tengu) and swinging huge pink shining poles.

August 2015: new players are running away in terror, older players facepalm and uninstall the game, the players who gave advices in forums say “this game is dead!” and move back to WoW.

What about to the west where there are 3 pretty distinct “lanes” that seem to converge on a single point that, as of now, is behind a wall of vines?

That seems like an ideal place to put a dungeon entrance, with a boss fight in story mode.
