Hope I’m not coming across as an expert claiming to talk for the majority, because that’s not my motivation.
My motivation is to save the Classic Server Based WvW that I fell in love with.
That’s why I’m asking for support…if anything…I think I’m in the minority for asking for it.
Yours truly,
Diku
Nope – understand what you are saying/asking. Your counterpart seems to think he/she speaks for the majority. I doubt the majority even come to the forums so I don’t know how anyone could read all those people minds not on their server……
I just love the experts that claim to talk for the majority or most, when in fact they can really only talk for themselves or at best a small circle of friends…..
YB would work to control the JP and mesmers would port. You could do Ix per character / per day back then and call outs were made in la. We would try to do this for 60-90 minutes each day. After we did that for a month or so, the chests became 1x per account / per day and JP became a ghost town….
Zergs had fun fending off interlopers. Commanders got the siege via drop to ground – they pick it up. Pve people got a few chests and just maybe stuck around for the fights.
(edited by Liston.9708)
Or they are temporary mercenaries……
The one alliance that might work is retaining servers and each match combines server X + y + z vs a+ b + c… Server identity is retained and you play with and against new peeps each week.
With the “big” change coming soon, I wouldn’t pay to go anywhere myself until I knew if servers existed in a month…..
Bad move changing reset nights from a NA perspective. YB used to have queues so bad I didn’t bother. This last weekend there was barely 1 que.
Aside from the sad state of affairs in wvw, Friday offered little in tv fare if you didn’t go out. Saturday, in the fall, often offers up some of the biggest ncaa football games. If my choice is football of gw2, football wins. I know not everyone is in the us or even a fan, but football is huge…..
Lol – 0 percent chance of this…..
Previously the chests were acct bound, but the proofs were soulbound. However, you could earn proofs (open the chests) on multiple characters and redeem on a character that didn’t earn(open) them. Example: char a earns 4 proofs – char b earns 8 proofs – char c could buy a 10 pt scroll even though no 1 character earned 10 proofs. Note your bank would of course have 2 mini stacks of proofs….
Has this changed as well? (Can’t test until tomorrow myself)
Depends when you all play. Thought cd was a big off peak (non NA prime) server, but I could be wrong.
@Chaba Sadly I haven’t seen that kind of tactics being used in ages, it was probably Season 2 since I last saw anybody trying anything different, than one big fight over a keep with players turtled with siege (even with similar numbers) or just blob vs gates.
Really? Sounds like a leadership/player choice problem then. Those are some things my guild has been doing when we felt it was needed; going back as far even as the no-white-swords “event”. We get players with mixed interests, abilities, and time commitments in my guild. It is easier to fit the role to a player rather than shoehorn someone into a role they can’t fulfill. Being adaptive also allows players to explore other classes and roles and not burn on out always being required to play their “main class”.
Allowing the player some freedom will in the end keep the player more interested while enjoying how they play. I don’t see how that could ever be a bad thing for the player or the guild. This may not work for the ultra competitive guild, but they seem to crash and burn faster as well….
Will be interesting… Does everyone pile into the top 3-4 tiers or not even bother at this point…..
Spending cash or gems for something you don’t find enjoyable anymore would be akin to paying a dentist to pull a bad tooth, but without wanting the numbing.
I’m saving my gems thanks.
Don’t disagree at all. Even if I wasn’t in an upper tier, I am not so sure I’d see the grass is greener elsewhere – less brown at best, but still not exactly healthy….
Will be interesting… Does everyone pile into the top 3-4 tiers or not even bother at this point…..
Shouldn’t the 1 and 2 servers in any particular match fight each other? I thought 1 and picking on 3 all the time was the flaw… Not that I really care on the outcome tbh…
I imagine TC and SOS will fill as even more abandon the lower tiers looking for action…
ANET knows they failed. Not really sure why they would post something to just validate the obvious.
Funny reset story: I am in NA T2. On reset night there was a 50+ queue for EB and the BL maps had no queue,
Only 50? That is nightly here….
I’d rather have multiple ebgs (if necessary). Fights are easy to find and travel distances sort of short….
And the issue with that is everyone is screaming there isn’t enough population to cover all 4 maps.
Why I said “if necessary”. My idea isn’t 4 ebgs, but additional copies if que hits some threshhold. I stiLl don’t know iF that Is the answer, but huge que on EBG and mediocre pops on bl (at best) tells you what style of map many wvwers like to play…..
And isn’t it annoying to see everyone else’s 18 billion bags? If auto loot can’t be easily addressed, just show me my bags please…..
I’d rather have multiple ebgs (if necessary). Fights are easy to find and travel distances sort of short….
Many issues with new bl, server locking etc, but #1 post hot issue is my wvw xp goes nowhere but rank up chests. No masteries – no reward tracks – no nothing. At least pre-hot I still had a few things not maxed like supply and golem mastery I could work towards.
With all the progression bars in pve you feel you are accomplishing something, progression needs to mean something more than a rank up chest with bleh loot in wvw….
Electric Wyvern location: Was this necessary?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Liston.9708
I try to not qq or anything, like pitching middleground ideas, and can sympathize with gamedevs because I’m aware of how the industry and fans can be towards the creators. That being said, I was a bit irked today about something. inc rant
Little Electric Wyvern is potentially the most obtusely hidden pet for rangers, and there doesn’t seem to be any reason why. I was surprised glancing through the topic names, none seem to reference it. When I first heard about their location being on the last map, I figured it was just being treated as an end-game-expansion treat. As I finally finished Dragon’s Stand while preparing to do the end of the story, my mate as Druid went to get a Wyvern. Now I’m rather peeved because I know those who designed this stuff are better than the padded gates and artificial time limits involved.
1 Actually reaching the region in Dragon’s Stand involves having a map set up enough to complete the meta-event. If you don’t have a good map, you’re stuck spending time surfing lfg and getting lucky with getting into a good map. Key word being luck, because the player has little control over this. What doesn’t help all Dragon Stand maps are in synched timers, so if it takes too long for them to get a good map and it’s too tedious, might as well just wait for the next cycle… in two hours.
2 Once you get in a good map, you now have to run with a zerg down the lane and see the event through to the end. From my experience, it took about an hour to reach the final area. I believe that’s considered average. So now in addition to getting a good map, you’ll most likely have to be on that map for another hour and hope that the groups suddenly don’t suck somehow, your client crashes, or disconnects. Even if you have a party friend to bring you back, you’d now have to fight everyone else on that instance and it’s lfg slot competition all over again.
3 So you made it to the end, beat up the boss, and everyone’s high fiving and stuff. Now you have to go and actually get Electric the Wyvern. But your map did good. The boss was beaten an hour before the map is closed. But despite your map doing fine, you’re still limited with 15 minutes to get your new friend. Map completion with 15 minutes for the average player is another topic. Any rangers who didn’t look up where the exact spot for wyverns are will ultimately end up asking mapchat. The environment isn’t exactly the most straightforward with everything in sight, so you’d be flying around a lot to try and find a path to where people might tell you where the wyverns are.
4 Which leads to the next issue. The reoccurring Masteries gating. Due to the experience curve for higher levels in Masteries, Advanced Gliding takes a lot of labor. Even the chain events begin to feel like they’re giving mere slivers as time goes on, and nothing can even really be done about it. It is possible to bypass this by channeling your inner Mario and pretending some tricky flight and jump tricks to reach the island, but it isn’t obvious, and most likely not intended. The player still has 15 minutes every time they’re there to even have a chance.
tl;dr
Your ability to get an Electric Wyvern is gated by luck of a good map instance, staying in that map for about an hour (or constantly trying to enter a party member’s instance), and require you to know exactly how to get there due to an arbitrary 15 minute crunch time no matter how well the map performs. It also demands L4 gliding mastery which, due to the slow nature of higher mastery levels, are gated by grind. Better off to do glide and jump shenanigans to get to the island. While I’m not familiar with the Guild Wars 2 Pokedex of locations, I feel like it’s safe to say no pet is as poorly placed as the Electric Wyvern (I don’t know if Tiger has a similar problem. Tigers aren’t as adorable as wyverns so I haven’t researched). Fire Wyvern was sensibly placed, and I personally don’t see why Electrics weren’t on another island in Verdant Brink like that. Or in literally any other area that doesn’t involve gates, timecrunches, waiting, and luck.
So to sum it all up, was this really necessary for a single pet to be so difficult to get? (reminder to designers and players alike: difficulty != challenge)
inb4 git gud
Fwiw – tigers are easy to get to after completing DS. There is a thread somewhere that shows the directions to all the new pets… I thought the gating for a pet was odd myself…..
Best way to play – go to EBG where the action is – crank up the heat or put feet in sand to think you are in deserted bl…..
To screw wvwers over once again. Anyway the chests you get out the rank chests are acc bound, they dont stack but you can just put in bank and get the proofs on another toon you want.
Edit: horrible typo
There is an even better solution.
- You open the chests because they dont stack.
- You put the soulbound Proofs Of Heroics into your bank.
- Log in into a different character and go to the Hero Points merchant.
- Buy the hero points, it takes the Proofs directly from your bank, you dont have to have it in your inventory. Despite the soulbound nonsense it still works.
Was not aware of this…. Thanks….
If you can’t go the 64 bit client mode, try best performance setting. The “potato” mode looks horrid, but doesn’t crash nearly as much for people in our guild running the 32 bit client….
Dynamic # – EBG + 1. If the +1 hits some sort of threshold, then another +1 up to the current configuration of EBG +3……
9/10 – the 2 main issues I had on release Hp points and crashes have mostly been resolved. I don’t care for TD, but like the other zones. Tarir is just awesome. Still marked down slightly for GH costs and no wvw love…..
I know if you finished all the HPs of central/old Tyrian you can’t even buy that version of the scrolls, but what if you have a few not finished? Example you have 4 un completed HPs, can you buy more than 4 scrolls? Anything after 4 is useless (in this example)……
Now if we could pick the HP (like the bat guano in verdant brink)……
@archonwing @straegen @niloy – you all make good points. Let me be clear, this isn’t how I feel I just know it exists from that “other” forum. DK seems to relish the whine and QQ from others actually so all is good…..
I wouldn’t be surprised. Getting hate mail is often a sign of success, lol.
As for the other place discerning reality from that is like getting your news from political pundits.
What, msnbc and Fox News aren’t bipartisan LOL?

Back on to the original topic…. It will be interesting to see if down the road 4-5-6 weeks some shuffling doesn’t occur naturally. Some servers have seem to taken to wvw post HOT while others not so much…… We have had some really fun nights with all 3 servers represented well and other nights crickets…..

Sad as it sounds, last week or two DK – pve + RL. This week DK – wvw. I know people make fun of DK, but he is the one with the maxed out friends list and does a massive call to arms (like the map shouts in LA of days gone by). Those call to arms work for the Pvx crowd…..
Oh and we are very high again this afternoon…..
Not sure why players make fun of DK as he is a very good pug-mander and does rally a lot of players. He also wins a lot of open field fights. Having been on a half dozen servers I find him to be a very good commander overall.
As for YB being open, not sure of their algorithm but I am guessing it is based on last weeks numbers. YB’s population could falter again but it would still take weeks to fall as I mentioned above.
Never saw a single YB player making fun of DK, we all respect him a lot and he is indeed one of the best commanders I have followed in all servers I have been.
I meant from other servers – not YB…..
I did have a map reset bug a few days ago and a missing reward for auric with 100% complete…..
Same here as well
Same here – seems a bug
I think mid week last week was when bg/TC/YB went open for a bit. It isn’t supposed to adjust so fast, this could still be pre hot / post hot (400 HP for elite) residuals where wvw was pretty barren… NA prime has been fun for the last 7-10 days, before that we would simply give up because there was little to fight until the west coast started hitting prime….
OP – YB open again.. I guess keep checking mid day middle of the week……
Right now no server can crack T1 since YB came back to life…..

They were plottIng before release ! Silly people…..
It is funny how YB was very high with all 4 BLs queued a few months ago and is now full with EBG + maybe 1 bl queued with the total sum of the queues < old EBG…. The old queues were horrid, but I would thiNk there should be something in between….
Either way, OP missed your chance last week when the servers BG, YB, and TC were briefly not full.
We had some fun on bg bl – went there because EBG and yb bl were queued. We had at least 3 guild groups and bg had quite a sizable force too. That said, I still don’t like the map (even with all the loot because of wells/marks at choke points)… Maybe if we could glide (but not into keeps)
Same here and only 1 side bothered to show up so wasn’t because of three huge Zergs…..
Many less crashes running in best appearance since I loaded it. It did crash in EBG Though. I will try turning off post process as infusion suggested as the best performance graphics are really really bad….
EDIT: just realized I was running 32 bit when crash occurred as my shortcuts were not updated……. Back to 0 crashes since update….. Now if anet would not show me everyone else’s loot bags……
(edited by Liston.9708)
If you are high enough level, all you get are the rank up chests which are usually equivalent to 2 minutes in Orr. The wxp doesn’t progress masteries, wvw abilities are maxed (when they may not have been before) – so essentially you work toward nothing……..
Only reason to play is to fight others and that doesn’t always happen…..
Edit: yes you can get the scrolls for HP, but they are soulbound and the adct bound chests don’t stack….. I also think the npc is disabled, but haven’t checked since the reduction from 400-250 for the elite….
(edited by Liston.9708)
YB experience is about the same as FA experience (maybe most servers) – que EBG which has had pretty decent action, but very hit or miss on the BLs.
The problem is if it is a miss, you can’t get back to EBG. At that point it is pve or the guild arena until later which is past the time EST players prefer to play……
I think I would like a couple copies of EBG and lump the BLs myself…..
PS – think it is safe to say most were on the pve hp train until the 400 hp threshold was reduced to 250. Problem is GH is so darn expensive for basic wvw things many still have to do a lot of pve to experience even the old wvw things like claiming. Either way, Halloween is no longer a convenient excuse…..
(edited by Liston.9708)
Is this really surprising?HOT brought all sorts of neat things and they are all pve. Wvw got a borderland many don’t like and capped wxp “traits” where there is no advancement right now. New maps, bosses, masteries, achieves versus a BL many don’t like….
On top of that the $$ for GH improvements – Pvx in pve……
The hp change has made a good expac into a great one. I can now spend time exploring nooks and crannies without feeling I should run point to point on all my toons for the hp. Well done.
Second this. With the hp change I find myself exploring the maps instead of rushing from point to point. I actually found the lost precipice guild hall entrance by simply gliding down to some semblance of a structure I saw from the distance. I would have never done that before the hp change….
My only complaint is the crashes especially when completing a huge event like in auric for the temple. Maybe the ground chests could be pop-up chests as you are rewarded those when you come back into the game…..
When gilded hollow is completely done is there a parade of skrit thinking it is skrit heaven?
NA doesn’t have language specific servers – that naturally spread some of the pop out. I have been told that Europe off-hour doesn’t tilt a match like in NA keeping the scores closer…..
If you’ve done enough WvW to warrant an insta-built character, you should have thousands of skill points.
That is falsely assuming that most of us do absolutely nothing else in the game. Even those of us who are WVW focused do stuff outside of it at least once in a while, including, material conversions, which is where most skill points went into before they got divided into hero points / spirit shards.
If we had detailed knowledge prior to the system change, we would have saved them, but A-net communications fail ….
Hence now its a problem.
Spirit Shards and hero points are two different things. You couldn’t have used the extra 214 hero points on anything…. They are just sitting there if you did entire map complete + new zones….
We did hero point trains in our guild along with another guild. Only a few very annoying challenges when you have a group ……
We heard it was 145 ish for the elite spec 170 ish if you want the skins….. That came from Reddit and I believe was daramined versus an anet response…. Fwiw if you did 100% and the new zones, you will have 213-214 HPs – should be enough….
In the end, we decided a few nights of pve made more sense than fighting our foes who also seem to be taking time off and hard to find anyway.
