Time sliced scoring 3-2-1 with 4 time slices Europe-NA-OCX-sea ( or more) per day over a week seems reasonable. No one time slot means more or less than any other. Servers with better coverage will still win most likely, but it could be a server that can finish 2nd in multiple zones and not 3-3-3-1 with the 1 zone dominating a match in its current iteration.

It may be worth using as a limited time trial anyway….

Decreasing population due to transfer off should be immediate – these people have 0 chance of entering wvw on a server they are no longer part of….. Believe this was Chaba’s idea, but makes perfect sense.

It was silly seeing t2 pops remain the same for several weeks after the gvg guilds left.

That said overstacking before hitting full (to make a server extra over full) could be the bigger problem with hot coming soon.

I see why people want to party with friends for socializing, but then maybe squad joining is not for you….

Otherwise….
How much time is spent grouping in chat only to have party members leave 10-15 minutes later anyway? Having the flexibility for the commander to adjust as people join/leave seems like a nice QOL change to me.
As others have said, supply info without stacking your group and typing the command seems QOL to me.
Seeing your raid comp and numbers as people leave/join seems QOL to me.

I do have questions
Can I see my own subgroup as a party (not commander POV)
Can commander pass off task of grouping to another commander in the same squad?
Can there even be multiple commanders in a squad with tag visible or hidden?

In the end, if it is too cumbersome to someone’s taste, just don’t use it. I think others will embrace it…

Wasn’t gw1 gvg more similar to gw2 pvp though, but larger parties? It wasn’t large scale realm versus realm. Maybe that is the real issue – need proper gvg with ladders / tourneys etc separate from wvw…..

Agree with tongku – pugs seem afterthought in this system.

The other issue – if you aren’t fighting with the same people for some greater goal of the group at large, what are you even fighting for? It seems that the “just for the fights” people bore more quickly when they realize there is no greater purpose and the fights are essentially the same thing over and over……

The real answer is that their engine cannot support more players on a map at least in its current state. If the fights got any bigger the lag would be extraordinary. Players already feel it in T1 during three way SM fights and often it persists when two large zergs clash.

If the maps got bigger, the chance for larger fights to ensue thus lagging out their engine would be a routine occurrence.

From what has been said about the new map we are getting its much bigger than the current borderland map we have now.

Not all players are forced into 1 map though (as far as I know). It’s the number of players that could end up in the same place that is the problem……

Not sure what tier you are on or what time of day you play, but t1 NA prime would be unplayable with 1 map. The servers can’t handle the total number of players. I wish they could, but they can’t…… Not sure servers could handle t2 or t3 either with 1 map.

The new map and current borderlands will not be active at the same time. It will be the new map + EBG with the old alpine bls coming back as some sort of rotation (with the new map?) in the future….

Then they should not have introduced currency that they said would accumulate with future tourneys. I agree they are sort of meaningless for wins, but they do shuffle the matches for a brief period of time.

Now now, remember not to speak for everyone.

GvG guilds like match stagnation for obvious reasons and try to manipulate as hard as they can to keep things stagnant. So are you SURE you like them in your tier?

I only ever speak for me and not others….. Fact is no server – much less an entire tier – all think the same way. You just have to read the other forum to see where someone is always complaining…….

I also don’t think manipulation to stagnate a tier for gvg will be an issue in 1 month – my opinion only…..

You can have your opinions – and opinions are not wrong – they are personal POV. The only part I took exception to was your statement “T2 is looking…, WE DO NOT WANT GVG”. That speaks from your POV not 3 servers…. Others in T2 considered the loss of those guilds a bad thing for the tier. Yes, some of them are toxic, but so are some non-gvg people too….

Either way, good luck. I do fear that T1 and T2 are going to become locked again. Matches against the same opponent every week just gets dull eventually….

He’s not wrong though , all the “high profile” GvG guilds have moved to T3, if a GvG guild were to come T2 they’d be extremely limited on competition.

Was on Jq with an alt for awhile and it was fine – no hate. But the cross server guilds that played on multiple servers and the Jq-TC-bg cooperation locked the tier – so not much of an accomplishment for staying in the top tier when it was actively locked……

All that aside, free transfers was one of the problems that messed up the pop in the first place…..

Could be alot of things done to control caps… just thinking out of the box, but allow guild size to be selected based on WvW, PvE guilds and lock it after selection. Only allowing WvW based guilds to move/destack servers. Since PvE doesn’t matter anyway because of megaserver. Honestly, at that point any PvE guilds could be automatically distributed between the server for load balance.

Not saying its perfect off the cuff, but I think that something needs to be looked at to help destack before HoT.

My opinion, but I don’t see hot as a savior of wvw. It has many good looking things for pve, but not wvw. Any spike in wvw pop won’t last without other changes we have yet to see. Pvx people may spend more time in pve than wvw initially for the shinies as well. Only time will tell of course……

It’s us AUS/NZ and Asian players that determine which tier a server is in.

It is no accident that the servers in this game with stacked OCX or SEA historically have a weak NA for the tier they are in. The NA on your servers end up having a difficult time competing against the NA on the opposing servers because they are too high up in rank for NA.

I’m not blaming OCX/SEA players for this. You guys are stuck without your own set of servers.

Yep. If we had a AU/NZ/SEA server, you’d start to see the coverage issues on NA slowly fix itself over the course of a few months as players migrate toward their own regional servers with lower ping. It’s not like we want to play on NA servers with the 200-300ms ping on a skill based game…

If servers could be assigned a region such as OCX and sea – how many servers could those TZs support? I agree there should have been designated servers for OCX and sea, but wonder if the issue is there would just be too few and wvw would be the same 3 servers every week. I don’t know if that is true at all, but wonder if that is the reason – not enough for 6 servers……

If it isn’t your home bl and is also not queued, I don’t see the problem tbh. Some of those guilds also assist when not gvg ing by running open raids etc.

The part I hated on YB, was that a few were pretty toxic in map chat. I am sure you have all heard a scout calling out an attack and someone shouting down “bleep ppt”… I don’t care if you don’t want to ppt (I often don’t either), but I never treat someone who does want to ppt as a second class citizen either….

On a side note, rumor that I heard was the gvg scene took a hiT moving to t3….

That is the issue, they may start on other borderlands but then they move onto home border. Their base ideal is not PPT but do their own thing. Many of these guilds will not help you save a keep or tower, even if they are not doing anything else they just don’t care. Their whole ethos is selfish. It would be much less of a problem if they had moved all the way down to bottom tier.

Obsidian Sanctum is too small and is shared by all groups. The new guild halls arena may also suffer the same issue. They need a large roughly flat area where guilds can do their own stuff. EotM is not suitable as there is no guarantee they can get all their people on, or meet their selected opponents.

Then, no matter what, you will always get some trying to do PvP on a WvW map. The only way to beat them seems to be get a large number of people together and run over their GvG until they give up.

If there is no que they are not “taking up space”. If the gvg guild wasn’t there, do you really think more numbers will magically appear for defense? I am not a part of the gvg scene, but as long as they are not on a queued map there is no harm no foul… My bigger complaint is with the map chat attitude that some have, but that can also occur on the ppt side too…

Edit: I suppose the gvg guilds could cause a server to go full, but I don’t think that is a real issue as they don’t want queues nor full status to refill their ranks from outside the server.

The game has never been fair so why not take the pve maps, copy them for wvw, and put them into the rotation. I know they don’t have the keeps and towers to take, but so what. If we had some of these maps once a month Where people could fight, I think they would be popular.

See, that’s where players get kittened off. Because there was a large group of players who were around. The GvG players are like 5% of what they were these days. They got OS and now finally guild halls. Three years for guild halls, something that not only GvG players were asking for.

The general pop is also a fraction of what it was as well…. Let’s face it, wvw is a minority compared to pve – that is why so much attention is spent there. Gvg players are some percentage of the wvw pop and I doubt it was ever 50% of that… We all know limited resources are thrown at modes that will cater to the majority.

I hope everyone gets what they want and need, but understand why some segments won’t get the love…. I personally thought instanced OS where you can iNvite guilds was the best answer, but I don’t know how much work that would be….

gvg guilds are fine by me as long as they don’t gvg on home bl when there is a que and are not jerks in chat. Guilds that are like this seem to have got along fine, especially if they pub raided when not gvg ing. Guilds that did use home bl when queued or were jerks in chat didn’t get along so well…..

I’d like to know which tier / server OP is on. If t3 NA – your numbers seem higher because that is where gvg guilds migrated to. This would skewer your count of gvg community.

Ps – you are a minority of a larger minority that wvw out of the overall player base. I can’t back up my numbers, but neither can you. Son of a kitten…. I kittening knew it. I have had WvW armor clogging up my inventory for the past couple years and I knew as soon as I deleted it this would happen, and I finally gave in and deleted it earlier this week….

My lawn could really use some rain, maybe I should go wash my car to make that happen as well.

Siege should NEVER be invulnerable to player attacks, especially some of these particular pieces. Cannons can fire so frequently and do so much damage to large areas, it gives too much of an edge to force players to try and build something in time to take it out. Similar issue with mortars. They are already in annoying to reach locations. By making it so the few attacks that can hit them, don’t, is just going to give far too much of a defensive edge.

The operators aren’t invul though….

So what? Group aoes you for a bit, you back off, and then you get back on it. They build siege to take it out, you get on another piece of siege, they have to run over there and build siege to take it out, repeat cycle.

Those spots are always hot when I play – gave up on cannons long ago as they are nuked first…..
