Good luck to you. It seems that this will always be a moving target. NA gvg went t3 and spread, but hod is already within RNG roll range. Dragon wagon seems to be picking up some steam again as well. If all you really care is about fighting each other dr / et probably aren’t going anywhere…..
The 3 ocx designated servers from the start would have helped immensely…..
Then maybe EoTM is factored into WvW population. Is yours played a ton?
I may be wrong, but I believe a dev said that EOTM does not factor into the calculations as it’s not considered part of the actual WvW matchup (if you go into EOTM and look at your inventory, it shows karma instead of badges).

Chaba is asking because several guilds left fa/YB/SOS for t3 and it hasn’t changed the status of any of the 3 servers. The question is valid – players that transfer versus don’t play should immediately alter the calculation of the population…..
They couldn’t go to fa /SOS – they were full servers at that time. Only after the move was made and anet changed the pop calculation did SOS go very high….. That was the problem with the tier even before the move – SOS was non – existent (outside of weekends) and full at the same time.
Not saying it is better now (it is worse in short term for sure), but it wasn’t rosy before either……
T2 was bad before (albeit not as bad). It was a 2 server matchup. No one knew anet was going to change how server status was calculated (right after the move started). Who knows what would have happened if everyone knew that change was going to occur…
I’d consider T3, but keep in mind TONS of t2 people are going T3. SoS isn’t Full because of that, FA will probably open up too.
I would stay away from Yak’s, and t2 in general. I mean if you like PvD’ing then go for Yak’s because all they do is ktrain. They have 30+ blob on at least 1 map at all times of the day
T3 sounds good, but will soon turn into t2 gvg home lol.
Which T3 server do you recommend me to join? I was thinking Maguuma, but I’m not sure.
The T2 guilds that transferred to T3 did so in an organized way in order to try and keep them balanced. So you will probably have a similar experience on any of the T3 servers.
Depends who runs open raids though. I know boo does and they are good peeps. Others may run open as well – only speaking of the one that I know does……
Of course know way of knowing if t1 folks had not moved if YB would have gone full or not…..
As someone with accounts on both YB and FA, I’m pretty sure YB would have been marked full if that change occurred before the T1 guilds moved. YB’s NA queues have been extremely similar to FA’s NA queues for weeks preceding the change, sometimes even larger.
Yea I had alt on fa and thought pretty much the same as you. Funny how 95% don’t have the fa hate or YB hate and just treat it as a game, but always a few in map chat on both servers…..
The queues and potential status change even without t1 influx may have moved the gvg guilds either way…. No way of knowing any of this for sure, but doesn’t really matter anyway…
The timing of the influx and anets change to status was too funny though. Such troll…..
At current, YB is no fun anymore. They must be over stacked. Other two servers don’t play much anymore. I am giving thought to dropping down to T3 or T4. Now I had just the opposite feeling about the YB server. I tried for 2 weeks just to get approved for team speak. No luck. I gave up. I did this both in NA and overnights. Kept asking, no one replied.
I have been looking at the scores and seeing which servers have the close est. T2 is just a Blow out, and Karma train. T3 looks promising.
Have an alt there – close score can be deceiving if servers dominate at different times….
Well my spam idea has not worked. I’ve yet to get back to YB after a week. But from what I’m getting PM’d, reading in the forums and MOS, the T2 action has become lopsided with the exodus from BG to YB. That stinks since the best fights IMHO were in T2 before all of this happened. I merely popped down to Maguuma and T3 to figure out how it managed to rise from the ashes and get a little change from the same three server fight for umpteenth week.
T3’s been ok at best. Definitely not as much action as there was in T2 during prime EST before this whole event happened.
I’ll stay in T3 for the present as I’ve no desire to go back to T2 with the lopsided match-up.
Well from what I understand some in t2 in FA/SoS are more then happy to see YB leave the tier and are sitting out, and some of the more gvg oriented players are looking to t3 because of the current t2 situation.
Gvg left for t3. I don’t know if that wasn’t going to happen anyway at some point…. Under the old system fa/SOS were full and YB had some queues…. Of course know way of knowing if t1 folks had not moved if YB would have gone full or not…..
Congrats on finally figuring out what T2 wanted from the beginning, how many months later? None of us wanted anything to do with that “silly siege stuff.” Too bad YB had to destroy the tier before figuring it out. And golem week was only fun for you because YB had what….like 3 bank tabs full of golems to use? I barely played because it was pointless. Most of us didn’t want to see another golem for weeks after that one ended. My guild spent more time training in PvP and GvGing than raiding. Course that’s gone now since the GvGs have been driven from the tier too. Thanks for that one as well YB.
No siege will only be “fun” for the server winning. FA might come out to play more since they won’t get pelted with ACs from every angle. SoS right now can barely hang on to any territory at all against the kittened YB blobs thanks to months of being locked out of recruiting. Take away the siege and you might as well waypoint our entire BL. You try to anyway.
And many blame SOS killing off maguuma…. SOS/fa/mag died all by itself. Choice then was YB or db – you all didn’t like them either…..
No siege? What YB doesn’t already outnumber the competition enough that you have to totally remove the other servers’ ability to defend what little ground they potentially try to hold against the blobs? Only way no siege is fair is if the servers have equal populations. That’s merely a pipedream in T2 right now.
Is Cephas crazy? T1 guilds that came into T2 are why T2 is such a bore now. You abused the glicko system while in T1 and wonder why tiers got locked. Then you have the audacity to ruin a perfectly good tier in the name of server glory? I’m guessing you can find more frequent fight against players – not doors – in T8 right now. But nice work on “getting Anet to see the flaw in the system”. It’s unfortunate that flaw is certain guilds abusing it to get what THEY want out of it without considering the other guilds in the game.
T2 was not a perfectly good tier…. Many were bored with a stale matchup of 2 servers. It was fa/YB and SOS in name only (because of full status). When the move was made to mix things up, who knew anet was going to change how status was calculated pushing YB to full and SOS to very high just 10 days into the change…. If all had a warning on that change who knows if the movement would had occurred at all…..
Those SEA players have a good point though. The player population has attritioned to a point where there’s not enough in their timezone to support more than one tier. They simply can’t spread out and still have fun.
I think their best solution is just to mass-transfer down to T8 where there’s likely enough room for them all. Then they just have to make sure all the servers in T8 stay T8 — not too hard since T1 players have plenty of experience with that.
In my opinion, a lot of what’s wrong with WvW comes from catering to SEA players and the problem of coverage wars they pose :o
ANet should create a special group of WvW servers for them that only open in their timezone, and change the others to only open in primetime.

A better solution would be to give the most points during the server’s designated timezone. In otherwords, For NA servers during the designated NA prime. The point gain would be set at 100%, during other timezones point gain would be 25%

And make sure eu/OCX/sea all have at least 3 servers each designated as their prime. I have always thought this was a better solution for scoring purposes and also a way for eu/OCX/sea to know which servers will provide them people to play with and against……
I was just joking of course… SOS always seems to do quite well on the weekend, but who knows maybe they also got new blood as they are the highest server not full.
Of course it will end up people selling their “full” spots, but it could only happen once per account so maybe not too bad of a deal. Some of the buyers might be investing investing in a server slot instead of playing the TP…..

It was implemented almost two weeks ago, on the 28th.
And no one knows how far above the full threshold any of the full servers are. If way above could take awhile….. Fa and YB lost gvg guilds and remain full.
So all the players who come into wvw to do dailies and craft are going to count against the wvvw popualtion. On the top servers, there are enough PVE players that come in to do dailies, craft or use portals to keep the server full forever.
This is actually a good point and something I hope they considered in the caps but somehow I doubt it.
Well they kind of have any right to be there like any other, they just have a different role and contribution, as with everything in life. We are 1 server where everyone is counting, each server has similiar circumstances.
Daily is sort of hard to argue if it helps the server or just the player…. If they only do the daily and leave, I’d say just the player, but that could be hard track. Crafting/banking/trade posting does nothing for the server…… I do these myself, but am conscious of when I am eating space others could use for more productive activities….
More than anything else – stale matchups where you probably know the “winner” 20 minutes after reset kills the experience. I’d rather get spanked every now and then or roll every now and then against different opponents. Sorry fa / SOS – I am bored (was very fun for the first few months).
Add rally mechanic to issue list – 1 uplevel death should not rally 5,10,15 etc people….. No rally or 1 for 1 in FIFO or lifo order would be much better….

How do we know how full a full status full is? They didn’t boot anyone, so some full servers might be slightly above the threshold and some might be so full it won’t open in forever and a year.
Does wvw daily and log out or even worse crafting/banking count included in wvw activity/pop count? (BankIng/crafting for toons parked at a JP)
Pretty sure full is full now and you won’t see the slices of time it sits at very high anymore. I haven’t noticed any change at all to NA – so not even sure when status is updated…. Hourly? Daily? Weekly? Monthly?
This does bring up a good point – do people entering wvw for dailies and then leave count? Should they? Many many people bought 1 or more 9.99 accounts including me.
While I’ll leave the Alts that want to mess up a server to the immature, should my alt that tries to help the server, but infrequently, really count as 1. Maybe the algorithms are smart enough to not count it or counts hours instead of heads – who knows….
No one knows how quickly (or not quickly) things will react. Full servers also don’t know how many over the full threshold they are…… I wonder if que to transfer where you can see how deep in the que you are (and if you are getting closer) would help scenarios like this…..
I have a buddy who just decided to try and get back into gw2 but he wanted to play with me. We plan to mainly do wvw together, the problem is you guys Just made your recent changes to the server population readings. I’m on Yak’s bend and he’s on Eredon Terace (that’s where we used to play together). Since the last time I played with him I have transferred up to Yak’s Bend with my guild and close friends so Transfering all the people back is not really an option. He greatly wants to get back into the game but is not interested unless he can play with me and our other good friends. What are some of our options? Any suggestions on possible ways to transfer him in?
No way of knowing how full YB really is. Some relief could come if we were “slightly above” full. Several gvg guilds left so it is possible YB goes back to very high from full – we just don’t know how quickly server status reacts to movement yet and how much over the full threshold we were.
How do you regulate “only non-NA prime can join”. Are those accounts locked out of wvw entirely for certain times of the day? If you go that route, why not just designate a set of servers as sea, OCX, eu, and U.S. etc and change how ppt works outside of the servers prime designation.
That said, I noticed the t3 equal, but not really from sbi and maguuma side… Had some “fun” last night if you consider spawn camping fun…..

I don’t see why I should pay to change servers for a gamemode that could/should be fixed by the developers.
And if you can’t understand that you need to move out from your parents house and start earning your own money coz clearly you don’t know what spending personal money is for something that shouldn’t be broken in the first place.

I really wish pve’rs would stop posting this sort of crap in the wvw forums. Wvw players end up buying gems to convert to gold to pay for the things you want in order to play wvw- or force themselves to go on a mindless boss event 100 times or chase chests in SW in order to raise the gold to do what they actually log on to do, which is play wvw.

by request, I’m posting estimated probababilities for the upcoming matchups in this thread also. “na1” and “eu1” files show the probabilities of getting any single opponent, “na2” and “eu2” files show the probabilities of getting a particular pair of opponents.

It is my understanding the formula/algorithm may have changed to allow for a greater variance in the matchups….. Never saw a formula so may be misinterpretation…. The “red” post was in “world population changes are coming”
Same issue, but I have the latest drivers already. Downloaded the latest driver from NVIDIA site and it won’t install since I’m up-to-date. First trying to repair the GW2 client. Then perhaps remove NVIDIA drivers altogether and fresh install.
Did you use the search function / plug in on nvidia page (option 2? That failed for me. I used option 1 selecting the proper type /series/product/OS manually – that worked. Note : I selected the … On the right and opened in IE. Option 2 required that because of the Java plug in…..
Additional note: other games had similar problems to gw2 so was totally on win 10 install and not gw2 in my case….

They also didn’t boot people from their existing servers so some full are more full than other full servers. What we don’t know is other than transferring off, what else affects the algorithm. If account goes inactive after x time, I would assume they no longer count….
