I would say avoid HoD. I would leave if my guild wasn’t here.
Tarnished Coast and Yak’s Bend are both very good servers afaik
it’s frightening to me that someone is even considering to not purchase the tome. if money is your concern, you will have more than enough money just through normal play. i personally wouldn’t want someone in my party who doesn’t have their full trait or bonus stats potential. i wonder how many people actually ask this question for their character….
Well, not every build has to grandmaster a line, and if you don’t want to waste the gold on it at the time for your build, then so be it. If at some point you need to redo the build and grandmaster it then go buy the tome, it’s not rocket science. No need to flip out over someone not buying the silly book. I know for several of my characters I didn’t buy a grandmaster book, because honestly I had no need to, my build did not require me to grandmaster a line. One day I might want a new build that does use it, and if so, I’ll go buy the book. Traits are not what determines the majority of your stats, gear is.
I have never seen an effective build for any of my 80’s that doesn’t involve a grandmaster trait. It might exist, but it’s certainly not as effective, at least in my own experience.
usually yes the sigil in the offhand would be a critical chance for that weapon attack from that hand if you get me. There are exceptions though.
This is completely incorrect. The wiki CLEARLY states that a MH sigil effects both MH and OH attacks and an OH sigil effects both MH and OH attacks. Sigil placement is completely irrelevant.
To the OP: rune stats don’t display on the character panel as well, or they didn’t a few months ago at least. You ARE getting the benefit, although only 5% instead of 10% because they don’t stack

I agree completely with everything you typed and I was about to say something similar.
Curu is correct by saying leave and start again. That happened to me as well and that’s how I managed to fix it. It took a few tries, so don’t lose heart!
I just said that because the tooltip is your base power which is your power without traits or gear. Finding your true damage you would use your actual power.
But to find the actual coefficient you need to go by the tooltip which is based off of base power
That’s why it SAYS 282 but you hit for ~800
iirc someone did the math and came up with the fact that with both sigils you would get somewhere like a 45-50% proc instead of 30%, but the internal cooldown renders the extra procs as moot
I don’t think anything at all has happened in the last 3 days, although I could have missed a quick patch
Unless you mean January 4th in which case they did some updates but still nothing terribly amazing yet.
My guild has AC explorable on farm with ~15-20 minutes per path.
We find CoF to be an easy one as well, although we’re not as quick with that one
I would definetely say to do the explorables instead of stories. In most cases, I’ve found story to be MUCH harder then explorable, or at least harder then 1 or 2 explorable paths. Example? AC story is SOOOOO much harder then all 3 paths in explorable. I would say the same with CM imo
Really? That’s interesting, I just assumed since the story one’s were the introduction and the explore modes were 5 levels higher, they were much harder. Seems counter intuitive. I haven’t done any explorables yet. I guess I ought to hook up and try some P1 and P2 with some folks. Thanks.
Don’t just assume that P1 is easy and then P2 and then P3. It just so happens that CoF P1 is really easy, but my group finds AC P2 to be easier then 1, and some dungeons P3 is the easier

15char
- Better Orr
- New currency (moar daily grind yay no. Just no.)
- Dynamic Event CD and Drops
- No more placing siege in jumping puzzle within wvw
You get the laurels for doing your daily…I mean really. Who doesn’t do the daily in the first place? More grind, please

2600 is the armor value that the tooltips use, according to the articles and posts I have read. It’s the value for the heavy training dummy iirc.
And yes, no traits as well. As far as I know, since i didn’t see anything specifically when I was reading, but what makes me assume so is you don’t HAVE to take power traits so they wouldn’t have added that to the universal tooltips.
They’re achievement points. They have no use atm.
You buy them on another character and use the transmutation trick to switch the skins to the character you want it on.
If i remember that heart correctly, it’s the one with the eggs, correct? Well you need a TON of eggs for that heart, so I find it was your friend’s fault completely for not turning in any at all.
But it’s not as if my judgement matters so meh
I found one for guardians, but not warriors.
I can tell you some basic information that will help you though.
252 = (weapon damage – I don’t know what rarity they based the formula. Does the tooltip change when you equip an exotic vs a rare?) * Base Power (Your power w/o gear equipped) * x (coefficient) / 2600
Doing this formula should give you 252 = (a number)x. Divide by that number and you SHOULD get the coefficient
I believe that the top set of stats is equal to a piece of exotic armor with the same stat setup. And then the bottom stats are the stats you get instead of slotting a rune or orb (you get more stats from the ascended item then an exotic with an upgrade on the bottom part)
The skill coefficient would be something like 0.9 or 1.1 or something like that. 252 is the result of that equation already but based on base stats iirc. If you search and find what the game automatically plugs in for those values, you can reverse the equation to come up with the coefficient that you can then use to find your actual damage
Gw2armorgallery.com has every set of armor in the game as far as I know, and you can see it on different races and male or female. It’s much better then gw2armor, imo
Well if you didn’t get the daily chest for completing it then that explains why you didn’t get the laurels. Are you sure you’re actually completing them before they reset?
Are you sure you don’t have laurels? Because i’ve done my daily over 2 days and i’ve absolutely gotten my laurel.
Did you get the chest? And check your bag next to your money to make sure

No. Breath wasn’t ever implemented into the game so not having an aquabreather doesn’t do anything
Well…you bought the one that requires level 40 right? The 3 books are 10, 40, and 60 so to get the last slot you need the lvl 60 book
They shouldn’t have made them unlocked automatically, and from what I’ve seen, they’re in pretty much worthless locations anyway.
I just wish they would stop adding zones into the game and not including them in the map completion. Southsun didn’t count, these two new POI don’t count. Come on Anet, I like to explore, that’s why I have 100% map completion… If it doesn’t count I have no reason to go there except for the OCD part of finishing everything.
I don’t need the reward each time, just make them all count.“OOH, I don’t have 100% on this character anymore, time to visit some places!”
They exist for servers who have no one in Orr so every point is contested and the only spot they could go was Camp Trinity or some such. I for one am enjoying the CS one since now I can get there whenever I want.
I don’t even wear aquabreathers anymore. #winning
You can get shiny armor by messing with the different graphics settings. I know my settings have it so whichever side is facing the sun gets a lot of reflection
Did you check your explorer tab? You have to have all of the different areas 100% also. This means you have to find all areas on the maps, not just the wp’s and such.
That’s not true at all. Explorer has nothing to do with world completion.
You could always get them again. Maybe the transmute stone trick works on soulbound gloves like it does the thief hood, etc.
I’m pretty sure Krytan is the gem store item so no he can’t unless he pays for a new set
Was this in a personal story by any chance? IIRC one of the story missions has you kill trebuchets before they open the gate or some such nonsense like that
They cannot restore items at this point in time, so you’re out of luck
This needs to be stickied. You are a champion
And it will be back. While SPvP will never make it into the monthly (thank god), WvW will almost definitely be in the rotation
Use your first 3 skill points to purchase the healing signet. You will literally faceroll until at least level 50
Go right when the new WvW match pops, or wait until off-peak hours. Or find out if your server has any guild that does it regularly to stock up on blueprints.
Some classes are more useful then others.
An all-guardian or all-warrior group, or any combination of the 2, can easily solo almost, if not all, dungeons in the game.
It is not that a Necro is bad… well, it is just that they are not really OP in any way for your average “i want my legendary in a week” sort of gamer. I recently met a young man on Teamspeak who joined the game and is in love with his Necro, explaining what he loves about them in detail from builds to variety. Myself, on my own Necromancer, I just don’t feel the love, not my play style. You have 5 slots, you should test them all out, in fact, i have 8 for each profession so I can make up my own mind.
To put it in perspective, let’s say a dungeon is not going smoothly, nobody will say “hang on, a necro, that’s what we need” and that is unfortunate. They can be fun.
True. It kind of speaks for itself when any composition of only guardians and warriors are some of the most successful groups for dungeons.
I dinged mine to 80 and then haven’t logged on since. I much prefer being on my Warrior or Guardian. More damage, more survivability, just more in general, except for some types of support that Necros offer that are amazing
I would play Warrior and Guardian OP
If what Lexy said is wrong, then I don’t know what to tell you. GW2 has never had a quest log because it doesn’t have quests
Either hand.
Yes, stowed weapons have no effect. The exception is the stack build up – in fact you can re-equip a weapon and maintain the stacks.
Many players will carry around an extra weapon with a stacking sigil just for that purpose – they get the stacks and switch to their actual weapons afterwards.
I couldn’t possibly think of a reason that the damage wouldn’t be the damage dealt to that opponent specifically.
im not entirely sure, but i believe the sigils only affect the weapon they are in
like say you have duel axes. the sigil in your main hand axe would only affect your first 3 abilities, and the one in your offhand would only affect your last 2 abilities
thats what i was told awhile ago, and so far it seems to be true
Edit: Stack on kill sigils will stack twice if both weapons have the same one.
if two different are used, only one will stack
I don’t understand how this keeps getting repeated. This information is absolutely wrong.
If I have a Sigil of Fire on my OH weapon, my MH weapon can activate it. If I have Sigil of Accuracy on my MH, my OH skills are benefitted as well.
Quoted straight from the wiki: “Sigil effects are not restricted to the respective weapon’s skills. For example, a Sigil of Force on an off hand weapon will also increase the damage of mainhand skills or utility skills.”
I don’t even have them equipped anymore tbh :/
Rememeber, you can stack only a max of 25 of one condition type on a mob in total from all players attacking that mob.
So, being able to stack 25 is wasted if 1 or 2 other players are applying the same condition to the same mob.
I would think a class that applies a larger variety of conditions with less stacks is more viable than a class that applies a lot of only 1 or 2 conditions …
Well, this is somewhat misleading.
Bleeding and vulnerability stack to 25
Confusion probably stacks to 25 as well but I’ve never seen that happen
Poison and burn stack in duration
And i believe most of the non-damaging conditions stack in duration as well (cripple, weakened, etc)
This is why I think warrior and rangers are low – bleeding is probably the only one you’ll regularly see capped at 25 and it becomes waste compared to the mesmer or necro which usually don’t end up wasting any damage
The thief sword is great but pistols on a thief are horrid (except for maybe P/D). SB is a FAR superior ranged damage
I think a warrior with a rifle and a sword/sword bleed build with some light-looking heavy armor would be your best bet.
Engineer? No. Most of the time you shouldn’t even be using a gun with an engineer. Grenades or bombs are much better especially now that sigils work.
I think Mesmer and Necro are superior to Rangers just because of how limiting bleed can be
