Yeah I miss the secondary profession.
i think im in a room full of GS guardians with berserker’s armor who don’t know what the hell are they talking about.
Or maybe don’t play support roles because the class doesn’t have to play like that.
That’s too bad. I’ve been ready for this fix for awhile now. Restricted levels was a bad idea. I hope the devs realize that for upcoming dungeons of the future. Nothing really wrong with getting to higher levels, but don’t punish the ones that arrive late to the party and have a much lower than the common level.
Its the 15th already, and I’m one that’s really looking forward to the Fractal grouping fix. I’m tired of being stuck at level 4 and not being able to find a group.
Any ETA?
I just want the darn fix to fractal levels and grouping. I’ve been stuck at level 4 for a month now!
I also hope they learn from that for future “level raising” dungeons as well.

You also have to remember, some people like having their armor repaired and will go to a wp with an armor repair vendor.
Erm, I think you guys just need to adjust your video cards are something. My panther black looks black.
I still wouldn’t call the addition healing power a good scaling though. It’s still not a great thing to max out on Guardians, save maybe for the Healway build.
@lcc: Looks like you’ve never played an Engineer.
After Super Elixier got nerfed again, the heals from a Guardian are far superior.Everything you posted scales horribly with +heal when compared to Guardian abilities. I can easily outheal anything my Engineer can do just by dodging around with my Guardian.
ermm, it’s my understanding that +heal doesn’t scale with Guardians either….
Sunrise is Soldier my mistake with a Sigil of Strength. I don’t mess with it because I don’t want to ruin the legendary status of it.
I also have this set. I give up toughness for more power, crit rate, and a nice 65 crit dmg. My hp is still high so giving up the toughness is not really a huge problem.
That’s more to what I run with, except I have lower health. You might find that more to what you’re looking for, but I think otherwise, you’ve pretty much got your stats the best you can make.
Yeah, I don’t have any Ascended stuff either. I need to get my fractal levels up, but its hard to find a lowbie level group nowadays.
You’re using Sunrise in that picture, is that not a Soldier stat weapon? Or is it transmuted, I guess.
Harbinger, I think you’ve got too much HP and too low Crit chance/damage, but that’s just my preference. Your other stats are awesome. Maybe reduce some of that vit to raise the precision and crit damage? Could be food/oils perhaps and switch out a couple pieces of equipment to berserker.
Same thing to you Barricade.
Lovely stats though. I myself want 3k attack/armor and high hp, but don’t want to sacrifice my crit chance/damage. I’ve got the 3k attack, and 36% crit chance with 75% crit damage, but my armor is 2800 and health 16k+.
I usually use food/oil to increase precision and get it up to about 45%.
What I’d like to know is what do you use to get 30% crit rate?
(edited by Lonewolf Kai.3682)
Not a bad example. But I think the key words here being are perma-20+ stacks or having the stacks on consistently at 20+ and some people claiming they do. I don’t think even with that example you can constantly have 20+ stacks on.
Also, you’re kinda stuck to using hammer/staff only in that case as well.
(edited by Lonewolf Kai.3682)
Wait you mean you don’t have perma-25 stacks of might for your group with 0% boon duration as claimed by some people!? No way…
Exactly, and anyone that claims it, I call bs. Heck, I even call it with boon duration added to their build.
Also for the record, I tested this on a solo run.
Still doesn’t show up, and not only that, a lot of people don’t associate “pvp” with “wvwvw” since those are considered two different aspects to the game.
However, arguing about the search function is really irrelevant.
Just did a search for “mesmer” and it didn’t pull that thread up.
For my Tanky dps build my main weapon has always been the Greatsword. Secondary I’ve been using the hammer, but ther Mace/Focus works exteremly well.
Mace/Focus is actually my favorite 1h set up. Protector’s Strike is extremely powerful, had a 7k crit with it before. Block and huge AoE dmg?! Yes plz! Then you have Shield of Judgment for even more blocks. Running the standard 0/5/30/30/5. Really happy with my stats. Great vit, tough, and my dmg is decent too with 57 crit dmg. Also x6 runes of Solider and Pure of Voice means I never have to worry about conditions.
Nice stats, don’t you run a mix of knights and soldier’s gear? What is that buff next to the tool icon buff?
I had been debating the validity of having boon duration for awhile and finally got around to doing some testing with it, with stacking as much Might in mind.
I won’t describe the details of my full build, but will tell you I normally have about 40-45% chance to crit, use Empowering Might, have a Stength sigil in my GS, and for this observation test had about 60% total in Might duration and about 35% crit chance.
Testing on about about 1.5 hours, I consistently was able to stack about 8-10 Might Stacks, occassionally up to 12, rarely 12+.
Now with 0% boon duration, I was consistently able to stack about 6-8, occassionaly up to 9-10, and rarely 10+.
So the benefit of a 60% boon duration gave me about 2-3 more stacks on a consistent basis. However, doing so I lost the stats from the normal upgrades I normally use. Roughly I lost about 4% crit chance, 10% crit damage, 80+ armor, and 535 health. (unfortunately I don’t have the actual stats in front of me atm.)
So my point being, is it worth the loss of the stats for more boon duration or not?

Sounds like he Shattered you. Shatter builds are hard to fight. The biggest thing you can do to help is to stop his cloning with interrupts. That will impede a lot of what he can do. The time to interrupt them is nearly immediately upon engagement because that’s the first thing a mes will do.
THe last few days I’ve spend like that too. I’m wanting to do things and can’t because there’s no one grouping for them. But, one of the main reasons for the empty feeling is because most colleges have begun classes again so less people naturally.
What really sucks is not being able to do fractals! Wish they’d hurry up and fix that levle restriction!
<<Stops arm from finishing tomato throw>>
Yeah, thats true. Okay, so no tomato to face then…. still bad joke though. : /
Good question. I’d venture a guess at best that the timer kicks in as soon as a condition is removed. I use both myself and can tell you though that it still doesn’t remove them fast enough.
Wow, kudos to both Taerik and Danicco.
Taerik for a great stat calculator!
Danicco for some very informative detail!
Thanks for such great contributions to the community.
@Blue Ace, I disagree with most of your posting, save maybe the conditions comments and sharpening stones. Guardians don’t really need to be concerned about stacking condition damage, even though we spill out burn like it’s going out of style. But your point about having critical chance and the validity of virtue healing is just waaaay off. Just look around the forums for the reasons. I’m not going to spend all day and point out why.
@Xynn, I had a hard time following what you were posting….. I’m just saying.
torch is decent for single target damage, atleast the #4 skill
also the main hand sword is great for single target damage
It’s okay damage, nothing to write home about. Torch is mostly used for #5.
All mains have at least one decent single target damage.
I main a GS and 10/+ stacks is usually inconsistent. I can maintain about 5-7 consistently on the average. I’m not saying its impossible for me to get 10+, but when I do, it only lasts for 1 second before the timer runs out and thats usually only when I WW. Most of the time though, I don’t get 10 or more.
No, I would like to have an off hand sword too. Mostly for the asethetics value, since it looks pretty freaking awesome.
Other than that, we don’t really have a decent single target damage offhand weapon. It could fill that role.

Topic. What do you think?
I kind of like how mine clips. I use the male face that has the long upper fangs rather than lower, with extended teeth settings. Makes me look like I have saber teeth and it looks pretty awesome in that helmet.
I agree. I find I HAVE to use the staff to keep up.
Food used [Superior Sharpening Stones][Plates of Orrian Steak Frittes] [25 stack of Blood Lust]
with 5% crit chance on the weapon = 40% crit chance
What buffs is he using there? I recognize most of them except the one that looks like the guardian ankh that has the consumable background light blue color and the one that looks like a torch or something on fire.
What are those?
If you have sigils of strength and Empowering Might, you can easily maintain 10+ stacks on yourself at any given time.
Maybe fighting 4 enemies at once, but not single target.
If you have pvt gear and 4% crit.
I have 45% crit and use both and don’t get that many stacks either. However, I don’t stack boon duration either. I just can’t see the use of sacrificing the other stats from other orbs/runes for only 4 seconds of boon duration. Its not worth it imo. And as Guanglai mentioned, the only reason to use boon duration is for the might stacks. Your other sources of boons either don’t last long enough or the CDs are too long.
If you ask me, it doesn’t really matter what build you have in W3. Who’s zerg is the biggest is all the really matters now. So if you can bring in massive DPS, at the very least you can put a dent in their zerg. But I also play on a Tier2 server where we are severly outnumbered to the point of it not being fun anymore.
I have been running with a DPS hybrid build: 10/5/30/20/5 with Beserker armor (Beryl Orbs), Emerald Trinkets (Beserker Back), and a PTV GS (Strength rune). Consumables are the Maintenance Oil and Butternut Squash Curry Bowl.
Last night I switched out a couple of the trinkets to Beserker. Even though I was getting ran over, I put quite a bit of hurting on many of them before being staked. I use mostly Monks Focus. Still trying to figure out my skill set, but so far, it’s mostly been JI, Purging, and WoR, Renewed Focus.
I want to try it with a more equal basis sometime. Hopefully my server will get “fixed” sometime soon.
I find the survivability a bit annoying at times however. In fractals, I feel like I’m simply fighting to stay alive ALL the time, and I’m still in the single digit leveled fracs. I tried using a Knight’s set with Beryl orbs, but that didn’t really make a difference. Saving up now for Soldier’s set to see how that works.
(edited by Lonewolf Kai.3682)
Don’t forget to factor the “On-Crit” bonuses! Put that in your formulas. ;p
I’ve been trying to pull off stats like that but just can’t get close. What armor, trinkets, runes are you using?
This is my build in my guardian
Whoa! How’d you pull that off!? (IE, what equipment are you running with?)

You ought to try it on a Norn who has the tallest setting possible. They’ve got it worse.
Charr are taller still. Not by much, but they are.
No they’re not.
Find a norn with the tallest setting on them and stand next to him, if you’re also a charr with the tallest setting on.
Heavy is coolest!
Here’s my charr, T3 racial helm and gloves, TA chest and shorts and karma shoulders and boots!
Niiiiiice!
Infinte Light, I think they’re called. Pretty cool aren’t they.
Editted out for relevance since it was moved. Thank you Mod!

I run GS with my Guardian all day everyday any play style. PvE/SPvP/WvW I always have a GS. great crowd control imo and deal out the damage. If you trait for GS you can up the dmg and cooldown time while also healing yourself with each hit. I just run shouts for my utilities and I’m good to go.
What’s your build/equip?
/facepalm!
I second that Legendaries should be account bound, even after being equipped. With all that hard work, it should be tradeable b/t my characters.
Especially with that note on the end of the patch notes and their “philosophy” on balancing the classes.
