I’ve been running around in WvW with Impact Strike for awhile now and am wondering if I’m wasting my elite utility slot with it. I find I rarely use it, and quite often, there’s enough stab on a person that the Stun doesn’t always stick. On top of that, the damage isn’t that great, at least with the build I’m using, so either the finishing move doesn’t finish them off or the target is already down by the time the first hit in the chain is done so there’s no point in using an elite skill for it. So now, I’m thinking of going back to reliable Basi.
What are your experiences and thoughts on the skill so far?
Thanks for the insight guys. I’ve been trying to decide if it’s worth it or not. I just hate losing that extra condi removal when dodging.
Babazhook, what build are you using in that SA/Trick/DD line? Is it similar to roamzero’s?
Is using Impacting Distraction along with Distracting Daggers worth it?
Would it be viable for a condi build that uses Reaper with GS and D/D for all aspects of WvW (ie Zerg, Havoc, Roaming)? I’m thinking Viper stats? What about trait/skill setup?
Did the camera options change or something with this last update? My view seems a lot different than before. I’m getting an instant headache within a few minutes of playing.
Now that I’ve gotten a lot of experience with Revenant and with each of the Legends, especially in WvW, one of them that I feel that needs another look is Ventari.
I used to be of the mindset of leave it as it is: let the player move it around because it sets up some strategic advantages, and it does on a situation basis. These advantages come in hand in situations where you’ll be sitting in one spot for any amount of time. However, if there is any sort of movement needed, the tablet becomes rather difficult to even use.
Now, some people have stated that the tablet should just follow the player around, like a summoned pet. After the months of gameplay, I now agree with them. In this case, instead of positioning the tablet around, the player positions themselves around. However, this removes the advantage of being in one place while the tablet can be in another, such as setting up an exploding tablet (elite skill).
So with that in mind, what are you thoughts about Ventari, now that we’ve had the Revenant for several months now? Should the tablet remain as a Move command or should it Follow like a summoned?
I have yet to try this build in action but i would love some feedback on it before i start working towards the gear. What im gong for is a wvw frontliner/boonbot. Im trying to aim at 3k armour, about 40% crit chance (heard somewhere this was good to aim for) and 50% boonduration so that i with FoN get 100% duration. Im trying to save foodspot for something else then boonduration aswell. I also try to min max alot by using as many pieces of the new gear that i can. This is the setup i came up with:
Only thing is that my power is kinda low, but i imagine with bloodlust and alot of might it will be ok.. Am i overthinking this? or will something like this work ok?

You have a nice build. For a frontliner, I wouldn’t say your power is too low at all. I run with about 2290 power and still do decent damage, especially with full bloodlust stacks and normally about 10+ might stacks (small group) or 25 might stacks (big group). Throw in some Power infusions on those weapons/trinkets, and that will help. Also, you could slap in some vit infusions on the armor.
Since you’re running 100% boon duration, consider changing to Retalitory Evasion in the dwarf trait line. You might also want to think about changing to Cleansing Channel in Invocation. One of the biggest things I miss about not having Invocation is that trait alone. Although, it is nice to have your hammer blocked and then blast out a CoR! I’ve seen havoc + groups get downed with that alone.
2 handed would be better imo, GS in particular.
Did anyone experiment with zerg fights already?
Does Rev have a spot in zergs, consider the pretty dominant GWEN meta so far?
Have anyone experimented with any builds so far? I’ve been wondering if it’s worth running Dwarf for this.Would love to hear about someone’s experience and builds
I play the WvW mode nearly exclusively and Revenant is my new main. Normally, I play zerg play, squad play, havoc play, and occasionally small group roaming (>4 ppls). I rarely if ever play solo roam because like the skritt, I do better with more people around me.
With my Rev, I had a couple things I required my build to have:
- Flexibility: be able to switch to any Legend at any time and not focus on only two.
- That means I use Traveler Runes since I won’t always have Glint activated, and anything slower than 25% speed is horrid.
- I have a couple stats goals that I like on most of my builds: 3k armor and 50% crit. rate. Power and Vitality are the next stats that I try to max out, but with no specific # attached to it. With Rev, I found it comfortable with 20k health.
- In WvW I wanted to be able to play all roles, but be able to run with the front line above all.
TRAITS
I currently run Herald, Devastation, Retribution.
When first released, I tried Herald, Retribution, Invocation, to max out on as much damage reduction as I could. Oddly enough, I didn’t sustain as much as I thought I would. The mulitiple lifesteals from Dev actually helped me tank more. So I switched to Her, Dev, and Invoc. but found myself constantly locked down with CC. That’s when I switched to Her, Dev,Ret and have stuck with it so far. It seems to be the best combo for the “do it all” build that I had in mind.
LEGENDS
I’ve found so far that I favor Glint, Shiro, and Jalis the most, with Mallyx second, and Ventari on occassion.
Glint nearly stays with me all the time, with the second Legend being switched out to either Shiro or Jalis. I also switch out to Jalis/Mallyx combo too, for the two instant heals, and other skills (mostly Jalis skills). Jalis is great btw when in the middle of the enemy zerg. Those spinning hammers are ftw!
Though not as much as Glint, Shiro, and Jalis, Mallyx does get a little use. However, I often find myself out of energy more quickly with Mallyx than the other 4. Because of this, I’m often heistant to use his skills, often saving energy for the Heal or Unyielding Anguish for the leap and soft CC it leaves behind. I never use Pain Absorb because of the energy cost. I rarely use Banish Enchantment because of this as well, and I feel the payoff for the cost of energy is not worth it. I occassionally use Embrace the Darkness, mostly when I just want the stat increase and the slight added damage from Torment and survivability is not necessary. But again, I’m afraid of using it too much because of the needed energy for other skills.
And lastly, we have poor Ventari. I like this Legend, no really I do. But he is so situation-based that he doesn’t get much use. I found him only useful in choke points, or for defending a keep/tower. When out in the field, he’s nearly useless because of the high mobility in the engagement zone.
The biggest problem I’ve found is that when you want to use him, you’re likely not going to have him selected for your two chosen Legends and you can’t switch to him because you’re in combat now.
I’m not sure how to help Ventair either. It’d be nice if they reworked him a bit. I’d suggest making the tablet follow, like a pet, but at the same time, being able to position it makes it valuable at times. Depsite the advantage of being able to move the tablet anywhere you want, I think overrall, it’d be best to have it follow you, and you yourself do the positioning for the tablet.
WEAPONS
I mostly use Sword/Sword and Hammer. Most people use Sword/Shield. I personally do not like shields on any toon, so it’s just an asthetic thing for me. Both sets should be obvious on how to use them.
On hammer, you’ll need it for the range, such as the common ranged standoffs between Zergs before they mix it up with melee. Yes, you’ll want to use CoR often, but you’ll need to use the other skills too. For example, #5 right in the middle of the zerg or #3 for the evade. Ventari/Shiro make a good combo with Hammer btw.
Anyways, hope this helps you.
TLR:
I use Dev/Ret/Her, with S/S and Hammer, semi-tanky stats with 50% base crit.
(edited by Lonewolf Kai.3682)
Pardon my ignorance, but what are you talking about?
About the kitten ugly norn that has nothing to do with our spec instead of Glint in herald artwork.
Oh, is this the artwork on the Traits menu? I haven’t even looked at it in awhile. Why would they change it?
Hey guys….and Devs…..DEVS!
Just wanted to post my opinion on needed buffs/nerfs/changes in the upcoming patch for Rev.
Note: If it is not mentioned, then I think it’s fine as is. The exception to this is Centaur Stance, which I did not thoroughly test.
Weapon Sets:
Sword:
#1: Damage needs to be lowered a bit. A BIT, is the key word here. It’s just a tad high for a class with toggle SS, leading to AA with SS being our highest form of DPS.
#2: Needs a buff in damage. The skill literally hits for 300 depending on what gear you’re using. No skill should hit so low on a level 80. Pull damage from 1 and 3 and put it here.
#3: This skill…..all I’ve seen is complaining about this skill. I personally don’t’ think it’s OP at all. It’s easy to see coming and dodge the majority of it. It also does very low damage unless you’re alone…..and even then, against certain enemies such as Mesmer, Necro, or even Ranger, the damage is halved, if not cut into fractions due to multiple targets. But OK, if you blow your quills, and use it on say…a thief who is alone, it can do some serious damage. So a small damage nerf is warranted if it means #2 gets some more damage.
Sword Off Hand:
#4: I would personally like to see this skill completely redone into a damage move. We already have shield, which makes both skill into healing/blocking. We don’t need more blocking on our Sword #4. This should be another offensive skill.
Hammer:
#1: CD reduced to 0.75 and do something. Like cripple….I dunno. All other auto attacks have a built in condi or effect, except this one.
#2: Fix the hit parameters for it.
#4: Should be on a toggle that drains a certain amount of energy, like Impossible Odds.
#5: Great skill…but it’s cast time is absurd. People can literally walk out of it…..and I do mean walk…not roll or dodge….walk. The cast time on this should really be 1 second….1.25 at the most.
That’s honestly it for the weapons skills. I think the weapons with the above changes are fine. On to the Stances.
Shiro:
Jade Winds: This needs to cost 30-35 Energy. When you swap stances you are bumped to 50 Energy. Having a skill that costs 50 Energy is absurd. Me swapping stances to use a skill….in other words playing my class to its utility, shouldn’t be punished with me being forced to do nothing but auto attack for 5 seconds because I have 0 Energy. (This problem will come up in Dwarf King as well)
Dwarf King:
Inspiring Reinforcement: Need’s a damage buff. I’m currently art 2400 Power and it’s labeled damage is 640…….really? With that kind of power it should be a little more than that. I feel the length is fine, but it needs to be wider. It also needs a duration buff to around 8 seconds from 6.
Forced Engagement: Needs a damage buff, 2400 power and it labeled as 310 damage. Also needs a buff to it’s duration. 2 seconds of slow and taunt should be at least 3. This is currently, imo, the worst utility skill Rev has out of any stance.
Vengeful Hammers: Needs a damage buff AND a healing buffs AND a radius Buff….. Currently doing 93 damage a second…..might as well do 0, that’s not making any difference in the fight. Might as well heal 0 as well, 40 health isn’t changing anything. At 2400 power It should be damaging for around 300 a tick. and healing for about 200. A small amount, but enough that if I keep it up for 10 or so seconds. I’ve gotten 3k damage out of it….which is still very mediocre, but given it reduced incoming damage I’m not looking at this as doing insane damage. Also it’s radius should be 160-200.
Rite of the Great Dwarf: Now, this one has the same problem as Shiro’s Ult. It costs 50….which means if I jump into a fight and want to try and save my friends, I am punished for doing so by being left at 0 power, and being useless for 5 seconds. This should be 30-35 power.
Thins brings me to my change in general about Dwarf Stance. ALL the skills need to have their energy cost reduced. Everything in Dwarf is SO darn expensive…it makes it useless to run due to the fact that you can only cast 1 thing….that’s it.
Inspiring Reinforcement: Currently: 30 Energy. Should be: 15-20 Energy
Force Engagement: Currently: 35 Energy. Should be: 15-20 Energy
Vengeful Hammers: Currently: 5 on cast and 7 upkeep. Should be: 5 on cast, 5 Upkeep.
Demon Stance:
Empowering Misery: Need’s to heal more per condition…like…a lot more. I’d double the per condition.
Pain Absorption: Need’s to be buffed from 1 condition transferred to 2 per target.
Banish Enchantment: Remove the insane 155 damage…wowie, and give it 5 Stacks of confusion, up from 3.
Unyielding Anguish: Needs a duration bump from 4 seconds to 6. Also needs to either stack more Torment faster, or do another damaging condition such as bleed. For 30 energy just 1 stack of torment per pulse isn’t enough.
Embrace Darkness: This is the biggest problem with the stance. Dwarf, everything costs too much, this one…just doesn’t have an ulti. I understand what you were trying to do, you stack condi’s on you enemy, then get 10% more condition damage with this ult to tick harder. But it just isn’t enough to be the stances ulti. Need’s to give 15% to all stats up from 10%, should pulse 2 stacks of torment, up from 1. And it’s upkeep should be dropped from 7 energy, to 5. I’m still not sure if this is enough to make it viable. But it should help.
Glint:
Infuse Light: Initial heal needs to be buffed. Currently a 1k heal…..think it’s the lowest heal in the game. Depending on enemies damaging you for your heal isn’t viable against good players.
Chaotic Release: Needs its cast time dropped to 1 second from 1.25.
On to Talent Tree’s.
Devastation:
Ferocious Strikes: This shouldn’t have a pre-req. It should just be 150 Ferocity for using your Talent point on it.
Focused Siphoning: Need a small buff.
Herald:
Elder’s Force: Needs to be 3% per boon.
Enhanced Bulwark: Is this really a GM trait? This just needs to be taken out and replaced with something else. I wouldn’t even take this as the minor trait lol.
F2: The F2 skills aura seems a little pointless to me. The activate I love though so…..who knows.
Retribution:
Enduring Recovery: Needs its ICD lowered from 10 to 7.
Close Quarters: Needs it’s range threshold reduced from 360 to 300
Improved Aggression: Should do something in PvP. Maybe it only increases taunt duration by 50% to players instead of 100%. It’s dumb that there’s a trait that just has no effect in PvP.
Everything in the Ret GM tree need a lower ICD:
Empowering Vengence: No ICD, down from 1.
Versed in Stone: 30 sec CD, down from 45.
Steadfast Rejuvination: 2 sec ICD, down from 4.
Corrupotion:
Maniacal Persistence: What is this….an occasional guaranteed crit in the condition tree….and it’s a GM….really? Replacement needed.
That’s it!
As you can see, I think several nerfs are needed on the weapon side of Rev, mainly sword, but some buffs are needed on the Traits of Rev when I compared them to my other classes Trait Lines.
And of course some flat out buffs are needed on some of stances to make them viable over Shiro/Glint.
Let me know what you guys think, or any changes you would make.
P.S.: Sorry Centaur Stance/Salvation Trait line. I just have a Druid….why would I ever use you for healing lol.
I nearly disagree with most of this and I think most of what you have posted is just from not understanding Rev’s skills and how the Legend stances are supposed to function.
Just to make a quick note, I think Revenant is near to a good state. I do agree with the energy costs on Dwarf stance needing to be slightly reduced, but the skills themselves are fine as a function with the sole exception of the Road. Stability should be granted immediately, and then pulse the stab stacks if you stay on it.
Pardon my ignorance, but what are you talking about?
I could care less about the assasin theme when they nerfed PT. .
You just lost all credibility with this statement here imo. If you don’t care enough about the themes behind the skills, then it really reflects your attitude about the class as a whole.
The mobility is kitten. Its bugs more often than actually work. Might as well not be there at all now.
In my experience, the mobility of Shiro is not a kitten but is quite good and hardly bugs out on me. I play almost exclusively in WvW where mobility is king.
You dindt even bother to read replies, did you? If you dont care, then simply keep this kind of stuff to yourself. If you had to use second healing skill right after Shiro one then it means Shiro healing skill failed to do it job and keep you in a fight.
Shiro’s healing actually has a very high healing amount behind it if you do the math, which someone above has done for you. Shiro’s healing is not meant to be used as a “oh crap” button but a preemptive heal, akin to Troll Unguent, which again, someone has mentioned that already (great example btw). You use it in anticipation of receiving damage and countering it at the same time. When used in this fashion, it works wonders.
They doesnt. Also hammers are useless outside of pve, they do more harm than good.
You must not WvW much.
it need at 20 so it can actually work with hammer and random blinds?
Now that is something I’ll agree with.
Geez people. You do realize most of the staff was really worked to the bones, right? As others have stated, they do deserve some time off. Put down the whips and be reasonable please.
I’d say if you haven’t heard anything after the holidays, then by all means whip away.
It does less than half the base damage as rapid-fire at max range, where it is easily avoided. Rapid-fire also has longer range, applies vulnerability, and is a combo finisher.
Now go away.
Not to mention you can push that RF with quickness to pump all shots into your target. CoRuin is easily avoidable.
Jalis might give you the on-demand Stability you need.
To counter any Guardian trap, it’s as simple as:
- Dodge
- Stability
- Teleport/Shadowstep
Hunter’s Ward is the Longbow #5 skill. It has a 2.75 second channel time. That is a long kitten time. If you see a Dragon Hunter channeling this skill, or if you’re getting hit by the arrows, very simply move out of the area of effect. The Ward function of that skill (the ring of chains trapping you) only takes effect if you’re in it at the end of the channel. If you think you won’t make it out of the area of effect before the Ward part hits, then give yourself Stability. You’ll be able to walk literally right through the Ward that way. If you’re trapped, you can Teleport/Shadowstep out.
Dragon’s Maw is an Elite trap skill with a 75 second cooldown, 60 seconds traited. This trap creates blue particle effects (like a swirl of 3 blue “light” tendrils) when cast. When triggered, you’ll see a giant blue dragon’s jaw appear. Once the jaws snap shut you are trapped for the duration (6 seconds). To counter this trap, you can dodge before the jaws snap shut (IE dodge through the trap, or walk into it and wait about a half a second then dodge out). There a slight delay before the jaws themselves trap you, giving you plenty of time to react and negate a full Elite skill. If you are trapped, you Teleport/Shadowstep out, or if you have Stability you can literally just walk right through the trap and ignore its effects.
That is the basic rule of thumb for all Guardian traps. Dodge, Stability, Teleport/Shadowstop.
And just because I know someone is going to ask:
Procession of Blades, Lights Judgement, Fragments of Faith counter:
Dodge, Teleport/Shadowstep, Block/Invulnerability.Test of Faith counter:
initial damage unblockable, follow-up damage only triggers if you’re walking (or knocked/pulled) into the blade ring. Dodge through the blade ring and you’ll take NO damage. Can also be Blocked, Teleport/Shadowstep, Block/Invulnerability. I don’t recommend wasting cooldowns on Test of Faith, as if you simply remain calm and don’t freak out (like everyone in PvP does once it pops) you can simply dodge out and continue about your business.Spear of Justice:
the Dragon Hunter F1. This skill has a 20 second cooldown (17 traited) and has a follow-up Pull that has a SEPARATE 40 second cooldown (34 traited). The Hook throw is unblockable, but can have some finnicky targeting issues. Use awkward terrain to your advantage, but don’t place yourself where you can be pulled for fall damage. Once hit, you are tethered to the Dragon Hunter and it will pulse burning periodically. This is the distinct “chain” you see between you and the Dragon Hunter. While tethered, if the Hook Pull is off of cooldown, the Dragon Hunter can activate it to pull you. Distance pulled varies based on terrain, skills being used at the time by the opponent, and other factors. Sometimes it will pull 900 range, sometimes it will only “tug” the foe maybe 150 range and cause an interrupt. As I said, the result varies. Treat it as if it will pull you 1200. If you are tethered, you need to apply Stability to yourself to deny the pull or prepare a plan of action to escape once pulled.
Awesome information Exemplar! Thanks for the indepth info. I think you’re right about using the Road for Revenant when trapped. Unfortunately, I usually use it right before the engagement push to provide stab to the blob. I’m probably going to have to reserve it for trap situations.
Now that I see how Dragon Maw works, I don’t think that’s the other thing that is trapping me now. I thought that was it, but now that I think about it, I hard ever see it on the field. It must be a well of some sort that’s getting me (Chrono’s Gravity Well maybe?). There’s barely any animation to it at all.
Anyways, thanks for the info. I was hoping there was some sort of trick to pull off a dodge while trapped inside to at least get the stab stack on.
(edited by Lonewolf Kai.3682)
Thanks for the responses everyone.
I do need to learn the animations so that I’d recognize it. But, that’s not actually the problem for me right now. The issue is that in zerg v zerg fights, I often get caught by a DH that I might not see, so even if I did recognize the animation before the shot/trap, I’d still be caught in it. This is especially true when I’m on the retreat after a push in with the commander.
I’m gathering that if I’m caught in it, as a Revenant, I’m pretty much caught. The only reliable on demand stability I have is the dodge roll, which upon ending, nets me a stab stack. But the trap radius around me is so small that I don’t get a dodge in at all and just bounce off the trap wall, thus no stab.
Anyways, thanks again for the advice everyone.
Either dodge roll when you see it coming, or stability and walk out.
What if you’re only source of stability is from dodge rolling and you’re already stuck inside it? IE, Revenant.
I mostly WvW and am constantly getting trapped by DHs… pun intended. In particularly, Hunter Ward (I think, looks like a chained fence around you) and Dragon Maw.
How do you counter these skills if you are caught up in them?
Me too. Was also in WvW and got the crash and code. I just now got back in though.
No, I actually meant it. I’ve not been crashing over the past few days. However, I may have been a bit too hasty. I just got an OOM crash while in WvW.
Back to the drawing board with you coders I suppose.
Good try anyways.
Just what the title states. Thx for the fix!
With those Q Q i’m seeing here this is inevitable for the revenant.
Elaborate plz.
Urgh, the unsightly hand glow. Can we dim it right down? Or have a toggle to toggle it off?
It is unnecessary, since your utility and UI change colour based on the theme of your current legend.
The main reason why I dont like it is because to clashes with colour palettes I choose to dress my gear with. It severely limits dye choices, particularly Shiro’s Green.
Anyone else agree? Let’s remove the useless things.
No thanks. Leave my hand glow alone. I love them where they’re at now. If anything, they need to be made more intense. I think there too dim now.
As the title says. I’m still getting OOM crashing. I get this whether I’m on extremely low settings or extremely high settings.
Again, I’m on a 64 bit, Windows 7 machine, i7 processor, 8gb of ram, 4gb GTX 970 video card.
Hope this gets solved soon.
I’m having a similar issue, but it’s more from when I’m landing from Gliding. As soon as I land, I’m on autorun for some reason, even though I didn’t do that.
Just logged in and selected my warrior. Got the daily log in chest. Another chest popped up alongside it. Opened the daily log in chest and then opened the second chest. This second chest told me that I had completely trained my warriors Berserker trait line and gave me a Helmet as a reward.
Erm ok, considering I hadn’t completely finished training this trait line last night when I logged off (I was round one third of the way round), this was a little bit of a surprise.
Bug? Intended? Who knows, perhaps Anet can take a look.
Read the latest patch notes yet?
NEVER had a problem with this game until HoT…. Getting crashes every 5-10 minutes like everyone else is… OBVIOUSLY a problem with the game… not my PC, so i emailed support and here is the reply…
THEY TOLD ME TO REMOVE MEMORY FROM MY PC and it was a WINDOWS 32 BIT problem… Not the game.. WTF..
my husband can run this on his laptop with intel UMA with only 32M of video memory and shared 1gig system memory.
THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH NVIDA cards and the game client, not our pc’s, and needs to be fixed ASAP.
Please get this fixed or refund me the money i paid for a game i can no longer play because of bad coding…
Hello —-—-,
Thanks for getting back to us.
The issue you are having is known as an Out Of Memory Error. While we do have some suggestions for helping players work around this issue, ultimately we need you to understand that this is a limitation of 32-bit Operating Systems and not actually of Guild Wars 2 itself. The main issue here is simply memory limitations inherent in 32-bit Operating Systems.
The problem comes in the form of the additional video memory your graphics card has:
— Display Memory: 2257 MB
— Dedicated Memory: 978 MB
— Shared Memory: 1279 MBThis is where it gets a little complicated, but the short version is that the additional memory can push your total available memory into negative numbers resulting in crashes or simply, “out of memory errors.” Some players have resolved this by upgrading to a 64-bit operating system. Others simply have removed physical RAM from the system to bring the memory totals closer to values intended for that revision of Windows (32-bit). Obviously removing RAM from your PC is not an ideal solution but I wanted to give you all the information we have learned regarding these issues. You can read more about this issue from Microsoft here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605. The important part is listed below:
“For example, if you have a video card that has 256 MB of onboard memory, that memory must be mapped within the first 4 GB of address space. If 4 GB of system memory is already installed, part of that address space must be reserved by the graphics memory mapping. Graphics memory mapping overwrites a part of the system memory. These conditions reduce the total amount of system memory that is available to the operating system.”
One solution presented by players being affected by this is to change the “Maximum pre-rendered frames” in the Nvidia control panel. To do this:
Right-click on your desktop and select “Nvidia Control Panel.”
Select "Manage 3D Settings.”
Scroll down until you find “Maximum pre-rendered frames” and change it from “Use the 3D application settings” to “1.”Once completed, click “Apply” to save your changes and try Guild Wars 2 again.

Yeah, I agree. I think it might be the Nvidia Geforce card. I run a Windows 7 64-bit machine and am crashing constantly too. I do have a Geforce GTX 970 card however!
I fixed my crashing problem so far it seems by updating my computer from vista 32 bit to 8.1 64 bit. It’s even much better then ever before… (made me wish i updated it sooner). Luckily I was able to get a newer windows version, but i’m sure there’s people who are not in a position to do so. So it’s still a shame that the game runs pretty badly on 32 bit OS systems.
Exactly this.
No. Not exactly this. A lot of us are already on 64 bit and still crashing constantly!
I’ve crashed so much that one of my RAM sticks actually went bad. Sure, it’s purely just correlation that HoT is crashing so much but my RAM was working perfectly fine up to this point. I’m on a 64-bit system too.
Hope they get a fix soon before my system completely blows up!
What I can tell is most vanilla Maps are fine – except large zerg events (TEQ/Karka)
Halloween LAB event = AOK
Hot MAPS = Crash every 30 mins – 1 hr.
Enter PVP Heart of Mists = Crash after 30s – 10 mins
Enter Lions Arch = Crash (inconsistent)
I’m getting the same. Also, having the same issue with WvW, every 30 minutes.
I’m going to go out and buy a GTX 970 today (been wanting one anyways), but I highly doubt this is going to solve my problem.
I also started getting PFN errors right after the crashing.
TPMN, have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the game yet?
Still crashing myself. Now it’s every 30 minutes + or -
I’m running a 64 bit Windows 7, i7 processor with 16 gbs of ram. My video card is a 1 gbs GeForce 460. Run on both Detected game settings and lowest possible and still crash.
Didn’t have this issue before HoT.
Client crashes every few hours. GTX 770 Driver 358.50 (latest), i7-4770K, 8GB RAM, Windows 10 Pro. Crash report has been different every time. Usually some kind of projectile effect mentioned. The last time I wasn’t anywhere near a fight so I’m not sure what projectile means. It’s getting VERY frustrating as it has happened almost every time I’ve been getting close to a new waypoint in the new content and then have to backtrack. I can’t believe I paid money for this kitten.
Sending a crash report every time. Does Anet even look at these things?
GW2 has had random crashing issues since day 1. I think it’s some compatability issue with nVidia as everyone I’ve seen report this has been running nVidia. I have a 670 on Windows 10, but the issue was there on Windows 7 as well. I was actually hoping Windows 10 might stablize it. Newest driver. PC crashed to freeze once today and twice the video driver reset…within an hour. Try setting the frame limiter to 60fps, I still crash, but not as often.
Hmm. Now that makes sense. I’m running a GeForce too. I’ve got the latest drivers too.
Anyone have a clue why the data archive repair keeps happening and how I can fix this?
I keep crashing with no apparent reason after installing HoT Friday. I didn’t have this issue until then. I do get an occasional OOM crash, but mostly just a crash by itself and then I have to repair data archive every time. I crashed at least 10 times like that.
Would deleting the gw2.dat fix this so that when I log in it’ll redownload it? The data archive repair doesn’t seem to be working.
I’m crashing every 1 hour or so. And upon crashing, I have to do a data archive repair……. every… single…. time…..
Considering I’ve been playing since 7am, and it’s 6pm where I am now, you can say it’s been quite annoying.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
We have reports of people running out of memory due to their graphics settings being set too high. Maybe try bumping it down? And if you do get a crash please use the reporter to let our programming team know.
That’s odd. I haven’t been having this problem until after HoT. I also use the AutoDetect feature for the graphics settings.

(Example, I want to change using Facet of Elements to Facet of Light mid-combat for the Regeneration boon; also thinking how twisting (ex-DAoC term for Paladins or I believe Bard for EQ, too old to remember
) might be able to work as I used to enjoy that playstyle and mechanic.)
I’m throwing out a shoutout to a fellow ex-DAoC’er! Nice to see us still out here. I was a main vet 2hander Pally/Infil during that game’s hayday!
Lots of things happen at midnight, but my favorite has to be …
The Celery Stalks at Midnight
Oh, the brilliance of Bunnicula.
… Now I want Anet to have some celery in a vase during their live stream, not just apples on the table.
Oh geez!! Is that a white turnip is see in the corner over there?!!?!??
Time to check into the Howliday Inn. Just watch out for were-weiner dogs…..
Just wanted to thank you Roy and your team once again for creating such a fun class and for letting us participate in it’s development.
So once again:
Thank you!

Hey folks,
Combat VisibilityOne change you’ll notice when the expansion goes live – a number of FX for skills have changed. We’ve tried to cut back some of the visual noise of some of the “noisiest” skills to make it easier to see what’s going on in combat with multiple players/mobs on screen. We’ve also made some skill FX end much faster to align with the length their actual combat effect happens in the world – previously some FX lingered much longer than the actual outcome of the skills combat interaction would occur. This is also to help make it easier to see what’s going on in combat.
I’m going to give an educated guess that some of the Revenant skills were affected by the FX changes mentioned here. Can you please elaborate on this? I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that Glint’s Elite was changed.
Less than a week to go!!!! WHOOHOOOOO!!
Roy I hope you won’t vanish on us after launch!
Kidel, we will get vuln with the attack.
Nope, no vanishing.
Any news on that GM trait from the Retribution spec you mentioned before? It sounded awesome. Did you ditch the idea entirely?
Yup, that’s a thing. Rite of the Great Dwarf procs when hit at or below 50% HP and makes Rite of the Great Dwarf provide 50% condition damage reduction as well.
Sweet, thanks Roy!
What about when you add in other traits too along with those, such as Retribution’s Close Quarters and Determined Resolution or Invocation’s Shrouding Mist’s second part? Do those add in as well?
I personally would love to see the animation change to:
Right-to-Left Swing (Standard Sword Animation)
Left-to-Right Swing (Standard Sword Animation)
Dual Swing (Warrior Offhand Ax)
THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!1!!!!!11!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!@#$!^%&^*&(
Please….
Arg. That’s going to mess up my prep plans. I was planning on using two pieces for my armor. I hope the collection won’t take too long to complete.
Exactly this!!
No!!
Love the particle effects even when I am not in combat. Please do not remove, add a toggle if you must but do not remove.
Exactly this!!
Honestly, this only really shows how strong Infusing Light is against people who don’t read status bars. Personally, I wouldn’t mind if infusing light had an animation like RS 3, but I’m sure that most people here who are committed to maining Revenant would dislike an animation on the heal.
There already is a fairly sizeable animation on Infusing Light. If you’re talking about afterwords, like say an aura, I’d have no issue with that. However, like I said, there’s already a large animation on it and once people recognize it, they’ll stop hitting you.
2 more weeks to go!!
I don’t think I can make it! <GASP>!
