I’d love a headstart too, but only if Herald can be unlocked with it too.

why?

Why not?

stop being greedy.

Wow, no need to get hostile. If you want to look at it that way then we don’t need a headstart. Revenant is a HoT feature, just like the Elites. Therefore, you’re being greedy too for wanting it.

Love what’s happened with Mallyx, though Jalis still needs some fine tuning. Get the Inspiring Reinforcement fixed and we’re gold.

Facet of Strength could use a bit of a buff. I’d like to see around 7 or 8 stacks maintainable at base, instead of 5.

Yeah, personally I’m excited to try it out, though I’d like to see some stronger options for Power users on Mallyx, just to add to flavor.

That doesn’t give us a real reason though. What does unhealthy mean? The only reason he gave was group cleansing.
Even then, I’m not saying the new Mallyx wont work, but rather that it’s a bit dull. All it does is spew out Torment and lost a lot of strategy.

Again, wrong. That’s not the only reason he gave. I just quoted another one above. He doesn’t have to explain why in depth. Do you explain to people how you put your pants on in the morning? Do you go left leg first, then right, zip, button, or some other order? Or does simply stating that you put your pants on is enough? Personally, I’d rather him spend his time doing his job than telling us all the exact details to each and every decision. Less time blabbing, more time with quality time fine tuning.

And in all honesty, there’s a bit of strategy involved if you want to pump out a lot of Torment out at one time. It’s not just pop EtD and follow target around. That’s not enough. There’s going to have to be several sequences to make it effective. You’re going to have to figure out how to dump a ton of it on at the same time, while keeping the target from cleansing, pushing out cover condi’s if he does, being able to reapply quickly. Etc, etc. I fail to see how this is dull. If you’re just tunnel visioning at EtD alone, you’ve already failed.

he only mentioned how Group Cleansing made it awkward to use.

Wrong. I quote the following:

…while I know some of you will miss some old functionality we feel it will be the right choice for the health of the game and profession for the long term.

I’ve underlined and bolded the important part. That tells me right there that there may have been some underlining problems with the skills that others may have not noticed or pointed out yet.

Everyone really needs to try out the change first before crying for the old EtD back. The amount of Tormenting stacks will be extremely good. Even Roy said it might have to be toned down before live.

Also, actually, we didn’t had a proper condi powerhouse before, now we do.

Just my humble opinion.

I think old mallyx completely shut down a condi class, and as Roy pointed out, is very unhealthy for the game/future game. There are already several skills out there that can shut down builds entirely alone. We don’t need another one of those. Instead, those should be brought back down too.

Rather than a copy condi mechanic, why not a strengthening mechanic for incoming condis? For example, the 10% stat gain from EtD is with no condi’s, add an additional 10% stats to a total of 20% if you get a condi?

Lonewolf Kai.3682

Prepare for some laughs…

I have prepared a couple of exotic armors and weapons along with some jewelery (other jewelery parts were ascended). I have been seldom playing the game in recent time so I forgot some things. I thought I will ready stuff all the way along with putting in sigils and runes in the armor. Boy, oh boy was I surprised to find out that I bound 80% of the stuff to my engineer who couldn’t even use it!

Stuff I bound by mistake/carelessness to my engineer that was meant to be for my Revenant:

- Berserker’s Draconic; helm, chest, shoulders, gloves, boots, legs (all with Superior Rune of Rage)
- Berserker’s Pearl Sabre (Superior Sigil of Accuracy), Berserker’s Pearl Sabre (Superior Sigil of Force), Berserker’s Pearl Crusher (Superior Sigils of Force & Accuracy)
- Cleric’s Draconic: helm, chest, shoulders, gloves, boots, legs (all with Superior Rune of Altruism)
- Cleric’s Pearl Quarterstaff (Superior Sigils of Water & Benevolence), Cleric’s Pearl Shell (Superior Sigil of Benevolence)
- Dire Draconic; helm, chest, shoulders, gloves, boots, legs (all with Superior Rune of Tormenting)

The worst part is that I didn;t have too much gold so Most of it went into it and gems. ArenaNet does not help with this. Already tried. So in the end I had to salvage everything from the list above (mostly the armor with Runes of Tormenting since they are 10g/piece.

Since then I sold some mats and farmed a bit through events so I am up to ~80g now and already recovered 95% of these items:P

So much for prepping XD

Don’t feel so bad, I did that with my chosen Hammer and my thief. Had to rebuy it

My revenant is soooo ready! Got lvl 30 scroll, tomes, ascended sets, bags, infinite harvesting, food/utility buffs, etc. I do want to craft another legendary before HoT though, but not sure which.

So, what stats did you end up going with?

Upcoming Revenant changes for BWE3

in Revenant

Posted by: Lonewolf Kai.3682

Lonewolf Kai.3682

Hey all,

The Reflexive Hammers trait in retribution is going to be changed after BWE3, before launch. Right now since it uses projectiles that hover around you, they currently don’t work underwater and I think it no longer really fits the line as that is more about damage, plus it muddies the FXs around the character when the actual hammers are around you.

Soooooo…. I wanted to throw out an idea I had about a new GM trait for retribution to place it and see what you all think. The trait would be more dwarf stance focused since we don’t have a dwarf stance specific trait.

  • It would give you some way to proc Rite of the Great Dwarf like at some percent health trigger or something and then make Rite of the Great Dwarf (both proc and the skill) have reduced condition damage taken as well while allies have the buff.

Let me know what you think.

Possibly at 25% health like the pre-spec patch Bark Skin from Rangers?

Problem with that trigger point is this: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Soothing_Bastion

They both will trigger at 25% health, meaning, you won’t get any use out of RotGD for a full 3 seconds of the block if you’ve also taken that trait too. No it need’s to be like 50% health so it wouldn’t conflict with that trait.

For those not liking the trait, just think, you could potentially double RotGD if you have Jalis. That’s freaking awesome!

I like it! Sign me up. I’m thinking that’ll be my new GM trait for Retribution. The Health trigger will need to be something different than some of the other on Health trigger traits if you ask me though. For example, Soothing Bastion would sort of override part of the new trait’s proc time.

Since that trait has issues with underwater, how will Vengeful Hammers skill work? I’ll be honest, I didn’t really test underwater this last one, so i’m not even sure if Jalis can be used there. *Note, that’s not to say I don’t care about underwater, I actually love it, just ran out of time to test things.

Is there a reason we aren’t allowed to move with Crystal Hibernation? Engineer and Warrior both are able to move while blocking attacks.

I’m not Roy, but I’d guess it’s because the Warrior block only blocks and has no additional effects, while the Engie is similiar to Revy’s Sword block, and is also only a 1+ second block.

Lonewolf Kai.3682

I’m currently crafting my first ascended gear set for Rev (I loved Herald/Shiro gameplay in the beta) and I have no idea which stat-combo I should go for. Playing WvW mostly, zerg and roaming.

Berserker gear… arrowcarts will probably bring me down quite fast
Knight’s gear… I heard the Rev is vulnerable to condis, so toughness would be second choice, better vitality
Valkyrie gear… Rev already has perma ferocity uptime, do I need more from stats?
Soldier’s gear… too tanky and too little damage?
Celestial gear… too little power to be effective? Are berserker trinkets a good choice additionally?

I’m torn, as you see. Crafting ascended gear is probably a one-time thing for me since it’s hard to come by enough gold via playing WvW mostly.

any advise?

I think you should wait if Ascended is a one time choice for you. Gear yourself out in exotics first to try out the stats, once you’ve done that, you can solidify your choice with the Ascended stuffs.

Keep in mind armor and weapons are a bit more flexible than trinkets since you can stat change them. You cannot do that with trinkets yet.

Post your Revenant names! Soul Breaker is mine.

That’s pretty cool!

Because i’m planning on maining my rev i was planning using a name change contract on my warrior and taking it’s name Hoctar for my rev. That way i’d be like Rytlock changing from a war to rev. Just have to decide on a new name for my warrior now lol

Ouch I ran into that once, need to buy 3 name change contracts for that. Ended up deleting my character, changing name of other, and just redid the first character with tomes.

Remember $60 is a lot, your better off buying one, and spending $20 on gems convert to gold and buy the gear you lost. Bank anything ascended first. Unless you have $60 to toss away lol. Just what I did hopefully help for you.

I’m not going to delete a character that’s 3 years old. Think of the birthday rewards man. Don’t know why you would have needed 3 name change contracts. All i’m going to do is change the name of warrior before i create my rev. After changing the name i’ll have 24 hours to claim the name back for my account. I’m actually planning on doing this before the expansion so i can create a placeholder toon on my revs character slot and delete it right before rolling my toon

I had to name change my old main too. I have a ton of crafting up to 500 on him, plus he’s my first toon, so I couldn’t delete him either.

Upcoming Revenant changes for BWE3

in Revenant

Posted by: Lonewolf Kai.3682

Lonewolf Kai.3682

Since corruption and mallyx is all about being the master of torment and being pushed more that route, I’m playing around with an idea I wanted to run by all of you. Torment is less valued in stationary fights due to the way torment functions. Since torment is the main damaging condition for Revenant, I’ve been thinking about adding functionality to a trait or maybe changing the minor 2 in corruption to increase the base damage torment does while not moving while not increasing the while moving damage to help it become more of a viable option in all areas of the game. What do you all think?

This comes down to the nature of torment itself and ain’t different for a revenant or for example a mesmer scepter. If you really feel torment in itself is in a poor place, don’t just change a trait on rev to boost it, change the condition itself to make it more worth it.

It’s not that tbh. Condition is good as supplementary condition often but other classes rely on other conditions as well like bleed, burn, confusion while Mallyx besides #2 fire is almost exclusively Torment based that’s why it is supposed to get boost. Why? Because if they simply make us stack even more then it’s ok when not moving and totally deadly when moving. So they want to raise bottom dmg up without raising total dmg when moving.

Well doing math torment is the second damaging condition in the game, worth half of a burning if the target moves.
Atm we can spike up to 20+ stacks with very optimal conditions especially in pve, which is worth 10 stacks of burning.
So i’d say we are in pretty good place. I’d prefer something better but in PvE that trait that enhance the torment damage while standing still is good enough for me.
Just i don’t see many uses in pvp ^^

Ahh, but in PvP, the new EtD has quite potential as well. I’ve already got a combo in mind that’ll stack a ton of Torment rather quickly. Add a couple condi covers on your weapons, and that will help with the cleansing. EtD is now a potential game changer, and all within a short amount of time.

Vampiric presence ICD?

in Necromancer

Posted by: Lonewolf Kai.3682

Lonewolf Kai.3682

Oh, because either Banshee’s Wail or Life from Death are way better. Vampiric Presence is 37 damage per hit, meaning with a minion build, you’re looking at a DPS increase of 165 assuming ideal minion uptime and you personally proc it twice a second, which is realistically never going to be sustained.

In a Spite build, this is a really small addition, since you’ll be blowing up your bone minions which drops it to a max sustained DPS gain of around 145, which is really mediocre. A Soul Reaping build gets more DPS out of it (back to the 165ish range), but again you have bigger priorities. Consider that in a minion build, VP is half the siphoning of Vampiric for minions, and equals your own proccing, so in a best-case situation VP is essentially a second adept trait.

However, the most important thing is the alternatives. Life from Death is a 2.5k AoE heal on DS entry, which is really important since you will already be weaving DS for Beyond the Veil/Transfusion and other CDs (depending on RS vs DS). This is a massive improvement over VP, where the healing on the minions is quite low for each minion (from 12-31 per second), and the DPS gain is also quite small. Essentially you are trading 120-310 heal/damage for a 2.5k heal, on everything affected over the same time period. This is exactly what you want, since your biggest threat as an MM isn’t needing to kill people faster, but keep the minions alive longer. If minions don’t die, especially to AoE (hello LfD), you aren’t realistically going to lose a 1v1 matchup that you’d win had you taken VP.

Basically, if you want to just have a better version of VP, pick up Life from Death, which is a straight upgrade for MM builds as it stands now because healing is more important than a small bit of additional DPS. BW is an alternative choice if you need it.

Ahh, that makes sense. I suspected it was LfD, but wasn’t sure. I haven’t been on my MM necro since the trait changes until recently.

Thanks for clearing it up.

BWE2- Still No hand aura on Ventari stance?

in Revenant

Posted by: Lonewolf Kai.3682

Lonewolf Kai.3682

And again, what has roleplay to do with hand glow? If you’re roleplaying as a Revenant then you have the hand-glow, you can’t help it.

Revenants have hand glow by design. “There were never a request to add the handglow in the first place to any legend” because they had it from the beginning. The one missing on Ventari was a bug.

Rytlock the first Revenant introduced and also no of the inital artwork or sceenshots had any handglow at all, so you can’t say they were desgined with this. It looks more it was later added for you know PVP

And from your comment i cant see you as a real roleplayer if you don’t know of the impacts of something like colored burning hands all the time.
“Oh, why are your hands burning in a vile green color? Uh…because…Shiro… What you summon Shiro one of THE most important Humans of Canthas history? "
yeah, totaly gonna make sense every Revenant you met will channel this IMPORTANT and POWERFUL person of the HISTORY.
In Roleplay you are usual not the Chosen one who is Commanderof the Pact and deals with all these powerful and important characters

I think you need to get your lore straight…. I thought this was an important element in roleplaying.

We still haven't had a final word on racials

in Revenant

Posted by: Lonewolf Kai.3682

Lonewolf Kai.3682

Why is this thread still being discussed? This from Roy pretty much closed the topic:

The problem is that they are balanced around having 1 skill bar and not 2 for the right half of your bar. They are also not made with energy in mind and would need to be changed to work with revenant, but would muddy the purity of each legends skill set playstyle. I thought I had mentioned it before on one of the initial streams, but racial skills won’t be usable on revenant.

/thread

because we dont agree with it not being able to work, especially since we dont have any other customizable utilities. Revenant is getting totally screwed in the utility department

no racials(understandable, but just feel like laziness not to include them in a way)

like 8 LESS utilites than EVERY other class, sure we can use 6 in a fight, but other classes can use way more skills in a fight than us.

Agree with it or not, Roy sounded pretty final in that statement.

Also, Revenants are THE only class that can use 6 utilties in a fight. ALL other classes can only use 3. I’m not sure where you’re getting your idea from because it’s flat out false.

Finally, I disagree with you and anyone else that says there’s no customization to skills. You have 5 sets of utilties you can use.

Vampiric presence ICD?

Posted by: Lonewolf Kai.3682

Lonewolf Kai.3682

Because minions attack slowly enough that every hit would still steal life, and the amount stolen would be higher due to this suggestion.

Minion builds are some of the slowest hitting builds, since all minions attack less than once per second, so an ICD wouldn’t affect them much. They also don’t have wells, or anything else like that except Locust Swarm that’ll cause an ICD to be an issue.

That’s still not really what I was asking about. I understand having a higher siphon/ICD attachment would help because they are slow hitters, but Bhawb, you mentioned that a MM should not be using this trait at all. That’s what I’m asking about. Why did you state that?

I thought I had mentioned it before on one of the initial streams, but racial skills won’t be usable on revenant.

I think you guys are not giving enough credit to the heals on shield.

Off-hand sword can block on the move, great! In 24 sec you can have 4 sec of block + high damage skill with an unreliable pull. Using shield you can have 3 sec of block + 8k heal + 4 sec of protection. In terms of survivability I can’t see how oh sword is better.

Your numbers are wildly inaccurate, with shield in 24s you can have 3 sec of block and a 4k heal that also roots you as well as 2s of protection because you can’t recast it twice in 24s.

The point of contention that people are making is that being rooted will lead to you ultimately taking more damage than you will heal/recover from with Shield5. This is based on experience with existing effects that also root you. They are also typically very powerful as well, but generally speaking the power of them doesn’t offset the fact that you’re setting yourself to get bursted into the ground the second you come out.

Again…in a game where PvE teaches you to move out of things, PvP teaches you to move out of things, and WvW teaches you to move out of things…giving you a skill that keeps you into them is just backwards design.

Actually, wouldn’t he be right if you take the GM trait? You get the skill use when you are hit below 25% health, then you can use Shield5 immediately afterwards to use the skill again.

The only thing this would benefit is minion builds, which don’t need to be using the trait anyway.

Why is this? Are Minions not affected by this trait?

With a 10% stat increase yes. Especially when he plans to lower the cost and make torment do more damage on targets not moving.

Aside from a loss of flavor these changes make Mallyx significantly stronger then its previous iteration. I am going to miss displacement if it doesn’t get re-implemented ,but these changes really improve the Legend. Previously Rev’s could barely apply condis to their target if they weren’t getting slammed with condis themsevles. Not every opponent applies a ton of condies. If you were fighting a Power based opponent you barely did any damage to them because the only real condi application you got came from the mace and from a skill that you can easily move out of it. This is a huge step in the right direction at a cost to flavor sure ,but there can be a compromise.

As for the change to EtD itself, yeah, I’m bummed because condi-copy was nice, but I agree with Griffith here.

With this change in mind, there’s a good combo setup that involves stacking a ton of Torment with UA and EtD, and then switching over to Jalis and taunting. I’m surprised no one has thought of this yet. There’s good potential here. Just open up your eyes! Build up for condi-damage, and you’re going to see huge numbers here.

But now to a Power-player, Mallyx isn’t only just about condi and you’d have reason to actually use him in a Power based build. The 10% stat boost works here. Personally, I think it should be 15%, but 10% is still good too, especially if the energy cost is going down.

With these two points in mind, EtD needs a couple points of cost reduction. The changes have potential. Let’s just play it and see how it goes.

4k heal is pretty powerful though. I can see the problem with it during WvW Zerg fights, but then, just don’t run it during those times.

I just wanted to stop in and say I’m definitely closely reading all the feedback about these changes and while I know some of you will miss some old functionality we feel it will be the right choice for the health of the game and profession for the long term. That being said I’m open to feedback and suggestions to make sure everything is awesome.

Though, I will say for mallyx most of the skills were brought into the middle-ground of meeting the condition threshold. As an example Banish Enchantment applies 3 stacks of confusion, it used to apply 2 if you didn’t meet the threshold or 4 if you did.

Also while it may be hard to see it on paper, some areas got improved such as torment application actually went up significantly. I can stack up an incredible amount internally, which is a bit scary, but we’ll have to see how it plays. It should help with making it much more of a condition damage viable build though.

Some things to note:

  • Unrelenting Assault did have some bug fixes to it which should help with issues like using it and having it fail being stuck in place as it animated should no longer be a thing. It’ll just fail without playing the whole animation.
  • Condition removal or resistance application has not changed, so the Revenant should have the same way to deal with taking conditions on themselves.
  • The recharge for unyielding anguish was a remnant of an old change and wasn’t supposed to be there. This skill shouldn’t have a recharge and I’m thinking about lowering the energy cost from 35 to 30 to make it more usable as mobility and condition application. It also should be applying 5 seconds of torment instead of 4.
  • Embrace the Darkness now applies a lot of torment in an area, twice as much as before. I’m looking at adjusting the cast time or upkeep cost for it to make it a bit more in line with the new functionality.
  • Since corruption and mallyx is all about being the master of torment and being pushed more that route, I’m playing around with an idea I wanted to run by all of you.

I’ll keep reading and I’ll be open to suggestions and feedback. Just try to remember it may look more devastating on paper than it actually is in game. Some areas of this build actually got stronger.

I’ll try to get it as close as possible before the next beta, but there is still time to address feedback after BWE3 before launch. Just remember playing something usually tends to give different impressions rather then just reading it. Balance is an ongoing thing though and we’ll continue to adjust as necessary even after launch. Balance is never-ending.

I’m still going to miss the condi-copy of EtD, but do agree with you on the other changes. Since you really want to keep the Torment aspect, can you think about reducing the energy cost by 1 point? The cost is still a bit too high, even with what you’d like to do with Torment. Also, I think the torment traits sound nice. I’d have to play with it though to see.

Also, can you still rethink the CD’s? I understand the Elites/Heal getting a CD, but some of the other skills I’m still unsure about. What about instead of increased CDs, increasing the Energy cost?

Thanks again for the hard work Roy!

Glad the dodges are going to be fixed. Thanks! That was a bit debilitating.

Personal finishers on Elite skill or riot.

Meanwhile on the Revenant section….

*random post about maybe adding a unique Dodge animation * – " sure why not, in fact I’ll change a few other animations too because I love you guys".

I only wish all the classes got the same love rev is getting.

Lol, I’m not a random poster. I’ve been quite active in the Revenant community even before it had it’s own forum section.

Also, in fairness, the same attention was given to the existing classes at the beta events of the vanilla game.

General
Here we have some polish changes for the profession. It was brought up on the forum as a suggestion to have a custom dodge FX and that got added as a direct result.

  • Added an effect to dodging.
  • Added a hand glow when invoking legendary centaur stance.

And whats about the out of combat/idle stance hand glow?
Please say you shut it of, or else this class will become uselss for me as an Roleplayer

And see, now I’ve got a problem with that. As a non-roleplayer, I don’t want to lose my hand glows.

If you’re wanting to roleplay as a non-class person, then why not just play a class that doesn’t have such effects?

Upcoming Revenant changes for BWE3

Lonewolf Kai.3682

Hey, everyone! Once again, I’m back to talk with you all about upcoming changes to the revenant which you’ll get to play in the upcoming BWE3. These were made from all the awesome feedback we received from BWE2 as well as our internal testing.

Similar to the other posts like this that I have made, I’ll be providing some of the thought behind these changes as to why we made them. Overall, revenant has been doing very well and is much closer to how we want it for HoT launch. As you all have seen, the profession has come a long way since the first time that it has been played and a lot of that is with the help of all the amazing feedback from you all. (Thanks!) There were a few lingering issues, tweaks, and polish which I’ll discuss below. So, let’s get into it.

General
Here we have some polish changes for the profession. It was brought up on the forum as a suggestion to have a custom dodge FX and that got added as a direct result.

  • Added an effect to dodging.
  • Added underwater versions of the downed skills.
  • Added a hand glow when invoking legendary centaur stance.

Downed
Unfortunately, the displace mechanic was interacting poorly in the game as a whole. It was causing undesired behavior with NPCs and pathing, its strength varied by game mode, it was very disorienting to the receiving foe and other issues as well. We made the decision to remove displace and change the skills which had it on them. In this case we changed it to a knockback because it was similar functionality.

  • Forceful Displacement: This skill no longer displaces foes, instead it will now knockback the foe 600 distance.

Sword
For sword, there were some minor tweaks. Precision Strike was made a whirl finisher because it made sense as your character is spinning around, plus the skill needed a bit of help. Unrelenting Assault was a bit strong after the last set of changes so I slightly increased the recharge to have a lower window between evade times.

  • Precision Strike: This skill is now a whirl finisher.
  • Unrelenting Assault: Increased the recharge from 10 seconds to 12 seconds. Fixed a bug so that this skill will more report damage as a multi-hit skill allowing it to stack up damage per target rather than displaying each instance of damage individually.

Staff
In staff the changes were mostly about the flow of play. It felt awkward to have to stand still to cast Renewing Wave so I changed out the animation to one that would work while moving to keep this weapon more mobile feeling. Debilitating Slam had a long cast time for a skill which is used for an interrupt so I went ahead and shortened that down to so it could be used as a more reactionary skill.

  • Warding Rift: Fixed a bug where this skill could be cancel-casted to gain the benefit of the block without going on full recharge.
  • Renewing Wave: Changed the animation on this skill so it can be used while moving. It retained the same 1 second cast time.
  • Debilitating Slam: Decreased the cast time from 1 second to 0.25 seconds.

Shield
We were trying out defiance bars on player skills in a few places, but it didn’t really work out. Defiance bar is balanced around being on creatures which left some pieces of it feeling awkward for players. It also had essentially a duplicate functionality to stability. In the end we felt like it didn’t play well on player skills so we removed all player defiance bars.

  • Envoy of Exuberance: Decreased the energy cost from 15 to 10. Fixed a bug so that this skill will properly heal at the target location instead of around you.
  • Crystal Hibernation: Removed the defiance bar. This skill will now block attacks for the duration while regenerating health. Lowered recharge from 30 seconds to 20 seconds.

Legendary Assassin Stance
Jade Winds was a bit too strong being able to cast it back to back if you stored up the energy. This skill got a short recharge to limit being able to chain it back to back with itself. You may notice we have some this with a few skills so pressing one skill multiple times wouldn’t be encouraged and allow for a breathing room for your foes.

  • Jade Winds: Added a 5 second recharge.

Legendary Centaur Stance
Here I made some changes to the cast time. Now all utility skills are instant, only the heal and the elite have a cast time. The elite has also been lowered in cast time as well as decreased energy cost.

  • Naturalistic Harmony. Decreased the energy cost from 25 to 20.
  • Purifying Essence: This skill is now instant cast. Decreased the energy cost from 35 to 30 and added a 5 second recharge.
  • Energy Expulsion: This skill is now a blast finisher and reduced the cast time from 2 seconds to 1 second. Decreased the energy cost from 50 to 35.

Legendary Demon Stance
In this stance we had a bit of a bigger change happen. Demon Stance was in an awkward place because it was mechanically cool when you looked at it in a vacuum, but when you were put around other players there was this point of tension which was created. When using demon stance you wanted to manage your conditions and try to keep certain amounts on yourself to empower your skills.

Though, allies directly impacted this play style. While you were around allies, especially players running support, it created tension and frustration between the two players. You wouldn’t want to be near these other players that removed conditions from you as it weakened your skills. This isn’t a tension or frustration that we wanted to create between allies so I moved this stance away from focusing on scaling effectiveness based on your personal conditions. As such, the self-conditions didn’t make sense anymore as you had less reason to utilize these so they were removed. Similar to Forceful Displacement, the displace was removed on unyielding anguish and the skill was re-designed a bit.

  • Empowering Misery: Removed the self-applied weakness. Increased the base heal by 40% and decreased the heal per condition by 40%.
  • Pain Absorption. Removed the self-applied blind.
  • Banish Enchantment: Removed the self-applied vulnerability. This skill now applies 3 stacks of confusion for 6 seconds instead of being dependent on the conditions you have on you.
  • Unyielding Anguish: This skill has been re-worked. This skill will now leap to the target location creating a dark field which chills for 1 second and torments for 4 seconds per pulse. The field lasts for 4 seconds and pulses every 1 second. Added a 10 second recharge.
  • Embrace the Darkness: Removed the self-applied torment. This skill no longer copies conditions to nearby foes. This skill will increase stats by 10% while active and pulse 6 seconds of torment every 1 second to nearby foes.

Legendary Dwarf Stance
A lot of you thought Forced Engagement was too high of a cost for a single target control skill, and I agree! But, I can’t allow you to use it back to back or else it creates bad chain controlling situations so there is an added recharge as well.

  • Forced Engagement: Increased the recharge from 3 seconds to 5 seconds and lowered the energy cost from 50 to 35.

Herald
In herald overall I think it played out fairly well, but there was a few small tweaks I wanted to make. Shared Empowerment was slightly under-tuned compared to other similar traits. Gaze of Darkness bypassed defenses like dodging which wasn’t intended.

  • Shared Empowerment: Increased the might duration from 5 seconds to 8 seconds.
  • Facet of Nature: This is now useable underwater.
  • Gaze of Darkness: Fixed a bug so that this can be properly avoiding using things such as your dodge.

Corruption
In the corruption specialization, there were a few traits which needed some tweaks in power to be competitive options. As an example revenant did not have many options to apply poison, but had the trait Venom Enhancement which increased poison duration so I thought it made sense to also apply poison itself.

  • Pulsating Pestilence: Increased the trigger chance from 15% to 25%.
  • Replenishing Despair: Increased the base heal by 300% and added a 1 second internal cool-down.
  • Venom Enhancement: This trait will now apply poison for 5 seconds with a 20 second recharge when you apply torment as well as increasing poison duration.

Devastation
In this specialization, I addressed an issue a lot of you brought up in feedback which I thought made a lot of sense. Basically you all said the profession stat buffs like empower are generally in master tier and ferocious strikes was just a weaker trait. So I went ahead and switched the position of both of these traits.

  • Assassin’s Presence: This trait has been moved to master tier replacing the place of Ferocious Strikes.
  • Ferocious Strikes: This trait has been moved to adept tier replacing the place of Assassin’s Presence.

Retribution
In the master tier for this line there were two traits based around incoming control effects, which made little sense and ended up fighting with each other. I went ahead and merged these two traits together creating room for a new trait which I added as the master tier needed a trait to help support the tank feel of retribution.

  • Eye for an Eye: The Redeeming Protection trait has been merged with this one. When Eye for an Eye triggers, you will also gain protection for 5 seconds.
  • Redeeming Protection: This trait has been merged with Eye for an Eye.
  • Dwarven Battle Training: This is a new master tier trait replacing redeeming protection. This trait provides a 25% chance on hit to weaken foes for 4 seconds with a 10 second recharge and decreases weakness’s effectiveness on you by 50%.

Thanks for informing us of these changes. I’m a little disappointed on several of these, but will trust the balancing reasons behind it.

I am very concerned about the amount of additional Cooldowns (CDs) and the increasing of CDs on skills though. As others have stated, it is beginning to feel like we are being double punished for skill use and losing the focus on Energy management. I’d like to kindly implore you to rethink some of the balancing to these skills and either reduce or remove the CDs and instead reduce the benefits to some skills. After all, Energy management is one of the core features to this class. CDs take away from that concept.

Thank you for your continue passion to the class.
