I wish you could hide crafting categories like “axe”, “sword” etc so it would be easier to find what you’re looking for without searching, I know you can do this but when you close the window it resets, I wish your selection persisted. It would be a small QoL change IMO.
Good suggestion. You can hide them now, but they instantly revert when you close the window, which makes hiding them completely worthless.
I can confirm that grenades reflected using traditional means (WoR, feedback, etc) do in fact deal damage, but due to terrain issues may not always hit Whalen. It’s always appeared as though the Air Guns are actually more of a damage multiplier since their damage scales off your ferocity.
Wow. I must have been pretty unlucky. I did this fight twice and both times reflects completely failed (fought in the tunnel leading to his room). Are there specific locations where it’s known reflects will fail (or succeed)?
If it’s an “annoyance” then it’s at least a negative impact to the player it’s annoying. Don’t want to it to be annoying, then don’t put yourself in situations where you die frequently via critters or other players.
No. It’s not even an annoyance because people are already conditioned to visit repairers every time they see one. That makes the entire broken armor mechanic worthless.
And if they’re going to keep armor damage in the game, at least fix the sloppiness that is the missing backpiece in the armor damage display (at corner of health bubble)
I haven’t done CM in a long time, but the recently I’ve done the butler path twice.
Both times I used reflects on Whalen’s grenades and both times the reflects only absorbed instead of reflecting. But his description in gw2dungeons implies his attacks are indeed reflectable — under “exploit” tab (off topic: I don’t feel that should be called an exploit) — so I don’t think it’s my memory that’s failing me.
When was this changed? Is it a bug or intentional?
Anet will say armor repairs are still an incentive to not die. But they’re wrong.
When you die and get armor broken at an inopportune moment, your reaction is to curse yourself for forgetting to repair armor when you last walked by the repairer.
So the only behavior this mechanic actually promotes now is for players to talk to armor repairers whenever they see one. So it’s a totally worthless mechanic.
Making projectiles unblockable/unreflectable is the easiest and least-effort fix. So it’s likely what Anet would use against one-shotting Lupi.
Knowing this, it’s probably best to stop asking for a fix to the one-shot and just make it clear in your LFG that you don’t want to use it — same advice as for those who think skipping is an “exploit.”
Just did HotW p1 for the first time since the infamous patch. Stormbringer’s minions are hilarious! …remaining friendly, milling about, sliding/gliding sideways and backwards, losing aggro easily…
I wonder what stealth changes they were attempting here?
Use a targetted range weapon that shoots projectiles. Melee weapons and many untargetted range skills (icebow 4, for example) no longer work because his hitbox seems to now be very small, high off the ground, and on his constantly moving head.
If you use the timewarp that one of your allies gives you, you can still comfortably finish this in two rounds.
Megaservers FTW
You can report to the forum specialist and he’ll forward that up to Anet.
Is there some justification for it — like conditions would break his other mechanics? Or is it just a random ability he’s given?
The total lack of control over people joining your LFGs makes this less useful than it could otherwise be.
Another thing about lupi that changed when the bubble and barrage changed. He sometimes completely misses with his shadowstep. He will shadowstep to the back of the room when aiming for a player much closer. Doesnt happen all the time. I just noticed it the other week when i accidentily burning retreated and cancelled my icebow summon. I obviously caused the shadow step. But he went straight past me to the other side of the room where there were no players or npcs.
I think all these attacks missing and arc radius increases are all related to be honest. Also noticed the wraithlord has some accuracy issues and randomly shadow steps even though everyone is in melee. He will also just randomly wander off on occasion.
So I’m not the only one! I’ve noticed him do this a lot recently where he shadowsteps to Yissa and ends up way past her.
You have enough dodges/evades? I had Lupi use Necrid bolt 3 times in a row with two second recharge in between.
Mace mainhand on warrior has a block on 10 second cooldown, sword offhand has a block on 15 second cooldown, signet of stamina gives 50% extra endurance regeneration (so half of what vigour does), my sword offhand has an energy sigil, and greatsword has an extra evade on a 10 second cooldown. Combine this with Defiant Stance, which is an instant full heal during a phase 2 aoe barrage and you’ve got yourself easymode.
Nice! Funny thing is I was just experimenting with Defiant Stance a few days ago for Lupi and concluded it wasn’t worth it.
As this will probably not be fixed for quite a while (if ever, not to mention it might be intended — who knows, Anet doesn’t communicate):
Anyone done a solo of the new Lupi? I gave it a few tries and got past phase 2 by ranging him, but didn’t last long in phase 3.
I have, off-wall and with mace/sword instead of axe/sword and signet of stamina instead of signet of fury, but I wasn’t able to do a naked solo like I wanted to for a video. I kept getting RNG’d on phase 2 aoes/transition to phase 3.
>Defiant Stance + Riposte
>Hit by an aoe after both still.
>MRW

3. This does nothing to prevent the RMTs from doing business as they will just trade in valuable items instead of gold as many have mentioned in this thread.
The funny thing is that he recommended legit players do exactly the same thing when transferring large amounts of wealth between guild members (last sentence in his post).
Pretty soon we’ll have a time gate on how much silver doubloons/giant eyes/whatever can be transferred in a week.
And the quotes of miniscule numbers to say few are affected is a misuse of metrics. Your guild leaders (counted in the metrics) can’t freely move money around: that affects you (not counted in the metrics) when events and activities are severely hampered by this.
You get a much better reputation with your customers if you set it up so that they want to spend money with you (iTunes, for example). This is in contrast to futile attempts at preventing your customers from spending money with competitors (DRM, for example).
but also it will only impact 0.175% of our players during an entire month’s worth of mails
It will affect that many players directly, but when this destroys a guild’s ability to do community events, that affects a lot more players.
What makes it extra bad is that you have no idea how long you’re blocked from creating LFGs (it seems to be 1/2 hour or more)… and to make it even worse, I suspect if you try to post when you are blocked, it resets that timer.
Just lost another half-done solo instance to DC. Seems to be happening these days a lot more than in the past. A small poll of friends agrees with this. Anyone else experiencing more of this as well?
This is one case where you should just let it slide: the alternative is that Anet completely ruins the fight with one of their infamous “fixes.”
Anyone else have this problem:
You make an LFG and wait. Perhaps one person joins by accident. He leaves, resulting in your LFG being automatically taken down and forcing you to repost. You wait. Your LFG expires and you repost. One more person joins and leaves. That takes down your LFG again. You repost and find that you’re locked due to spamming for an indeterminate amount of time (at least 1/2 hour?).
Fixed. I guess it just depends on what you consider “the future” to be, and there was definitely at least one dev who said, “as a special tournament or something like that” which would not in any way contradict what you have quoted…
So basically, they’re going to get multiple “new content!” out of the new BL: first when the BL comes out, and then every time they do a tournament with “return of the old BL!”
This way they can milk the small amount of work they put into WvW as much as possible.
Did this really happen?
Places like Southsun Cove whose POIs don’t count towards map completion. They’re still there. Same with Dungeon POIs. So it’s not they had to do this to remove WvW from map completion.
People already brought this issue up several weeks ago, so it’s not like Anet didn’t know this would be a problem.
Either they heard and didn’t care, or missed the threads about this…
if the latter, wouldn’t it be nice if there were a program where certain member(s) of the community had a direct line to Anet devs in order to voice community concerns? We could maybe call these people “representatives.” No that’s not a good name, maybe someone can come up with a better one?
I have no words to describe how bad this new borderland in my opinion is..
First of all It’ s too big : Immagine a low populated server trying to keep their things, immagine Vabbi in it..nonsense.
Second : Replacing the old alpine borderlands will make me and many friends of mine quit : Reason?^ I don’ t want to spend 30 min walking to find an enemy Group.
Third : Bye dears XDThe map will be in a “rotation” meaning we won’t be forced to play it every single week, it will be semi-random.
Not sure where you got this, by all accounts that I’ve heard, it appears the Alpine BL will be retired for an undetermined period of time (which in Anet speak means it’ll never return).
No loot on those mobs mean people aren’t going to bother. Not surprising at all.
So basically I have to swap to my staff to even hurt this kitten?
Thanks for having a thread on this, as I just did like 5 full rotations of this guy without even hurting him.At least I have a way to damage him now.
Edit: Staff does not work either. I guess I have to purchase a scepter.
Yeah, looks like you’re on guardian? Staff won’t work because its attack is too close to the ground to hit the hitbox that’s way up high. Scepter will work. If you watch where the scepter projectiles go, you’ll know why all your melee weapons (and staff) get zero hits in.
Skipping in mobs dungeons is the same as skipping mobs in the open world. Next time you’re with the chest train in the Silverwastes, please kill every mob in the way before you open the next chest or else you’re an elitist skipper.
Unless the LFG said that it was a “causal” or “watch all cutscenes” run, he’s being entirely selfish.
OP says he wants the other four players to carry him while he watches the “only 30 second” cutscenes. Only 30 seconds, sound ok, right? But wait, how many cutscenes are there per path? How long does it take to run an entire path? We’re actually talking about a significant proportion of time here.
All due respect, that seems like a pretty harsh view to take on someone wanting to watch the story cut scenes in a story mode dungeon. If you were specifically doing speed runs of explorable paths, then yes someone holding up a run to watch cut scenes unannounced is an “offense” but this isn’t a big deal.
As for the OP, getting kicked for something so silly sucks but the best lesson to learn here is always take a moment to share your intentions/status with the party if you haven’t already said so in your LFG post. People are less likely to get annoyed if they know you are new and/or plan to watch cut scenes, and the ones that have a bug up their butt about it can leave before the run starts.
Usually these posts just get the usual: " no new dungeons means people play for the gold only and want to be done as fast as possible, so make your own party with your playstyle preference announced," but this guy literally said he expected the rest of his party to 4-man while he watched the cutscenes.
Today I found party for Arah p2 in lfg, 3 from the same guild, me and other guy, so after going all the trouble to finish the path, me and the other guy get kick out of the party at last boss, and 2 of the guys from this guild were selling the path in LFG
, that´s horrible. Really? scaming people for gold? and people getting easy tokens?. thats why we have rewards on pvp track, but selling arah paths is giving people12-45 easy gold :/, obvious exploit/scam/watheveryoucallit. Get skilled and get a good party to do the dungeon – or be good at pvp, but stop this habit.
There’s a guy doing this for two, maybe three years now. Looking at this past history, don’t expect any action.
The dungeon forum specialist is very active, engaged, and responsive to the community. The WvW forum specialist has been MIA for a month.

It seems to be a general thing, but to have a complete list you can add Malrona’s Venom Spray (TA UP).
Offtopic question: Have any of you find something strange with the hitbox of some bosses? like they are smaller or not aligned with the model.
For sure, the Shadow of the Dragon in the very last LS release has had its hitbox changed.
From what I could tell, it’s now very small and at the tip of his (always moving) head.
So if you melee, you can’t hit it. You pretty much have to use ranged skills that are targeted to ever hit.
Disgraceful? Maybe, legal? yes. Flawed game design? You bet ya. Of course we’re going to milk the kitten out of this, especially since the loot rewards in WvW are terrible in comparison to PvE content. But OS farming won’t just benefit the ones doing it, material prices will drop eventually so every starry eyed legendary lover can get those t6 mats at low cost, or hell they may even find out about it and join in on the farming.
Now I’m not sure how long this will last, it’s been going on for quite some time, but considering Anet’s stance on World vs World in general it will probably take a year before they even review solutions to end the farm, ie. soon™
If it just affected WvW, I’m sure — as you say — they don’t care. But if it begins to significantly affect mat prices, I’m sure they’ll swoop in and do something over the top like remove OS from the game.
I’ve also noticed that you can view the location of the person you blocked as well as if they’re online or not, which I feel like is too much information for this person you don’t want to have contact with in the game.
Is it possible to friend someone and block them? If so, they’d know where you are anyway from their friends list.
If they increased the cap only for bosses it probably wouldn’t even affect server performance much.
Defiant Stance reduces damage you take to zero, but does not stop secondary effects of skills such as life steal.
That’s too bad.
Anyone pro-soloers use this heal for Lupi?
You don’t really need a heal for the fight itself, but Defiant Stance can ensure you don’t get caught with skills on cooldown in phase 2 to phase 3 transition.. it can also cover your approach back to Lupi if he teleports to Yissa.
Wow. You’re doing great as specialist. Do you, by any chance WvW also?
I’m glad you approve! I’m rank 500-something in WvW and I play pretty regularly considering how much time in a day I have to actually play.
I sure wouldn’t mind if you applied for WvW specialist!
In any case, back on topic: anyone figured out what it is that’s made Belka a lot easier after the patch? Her damage seems the same and her attack rate seems the same, but she is doing less over all damage: something must have changed.
Okay, thanks. I’ll report it up the line.
Wow. You’re doing great as specialist. Do you, by any chance WvW also?
Anyone know whether Defiant Stance on Lupi’s phase 2 life sucks stops him from gaining health?
One of the biggest obstacles to just deleting characters is all the crafting recipes your toon may have accumulated.
This. It’s significantly easier for a blob to stunlock smaller guild groups now. Losing blobs vs guild groups play will be a loss of a big part of WvW and will lead to lots of skilled groups quitting.
Whose to say that the blob players aren’t as “skilled” as your “skilled guilds?” People automatically assume that guild groups are supposed to be able to beat larger numbers of unguilded/ungrouped players. Not if many of those ungrouped players are just as good players, but apparently people are blind to that possibility…
No one said guild groups are “supposed” to beat larger groups of pugs. But what Anet’s done is made it impossible in a lot of situations where it was possible before.
With population disparities as they are, this takes away a large part of the game for a lot of guilds. Not a good thing considering the game mode is already completely neglected.
Considering DB’s score in T3 last week was well over both other servers combined, not sure how you came to that conclusion.
The collapse happened (roughly) between last week and this week. My server was matched with DB last week; this week we got Mag and we’ve been seeing a lot of DB people from last week’s matchup.
Considering how popular styling kits are, race change would probably sell well. But we already know Anet’s programming practices are quite often pretty poor so the change might be more work than Anet’s willing to bother with.
Just wipe your personal story progress if you race change.
Does it give any bonus items?
While every other game is making it easier to retry content after failure, Anet makes you watch unskippable cutscene after unskippable cutscene.
For achievements, they should just let you pop directly to your chosen fight (as with Queen’s Gauntlet) without even having to suffer through the really bad dialogue a second/third/fourth/… time.
In terms of mobs that stunlock: inquest technicians don’t seem to have been changed at all.
