Colored commander tags, golem mastery, supply traps are the “content” updates. Population has decrease significantly: for example, T3 is where T6 was a year ago.
What are these dungeons people keep talking about we had 1 new path aetherblade and for that we had to sacrifice ta forward up. ( since it was apparnatly to hard to fix the last boss )
Don’t forget the Canach Lair dungeon (remember it was sold as such!).
So there was a recent dev quote that said very few people hit DR in this game (search broken so can’t find the post).
But is that because players are happily playing the way they want to play and just not hitting because of well-designed DR thresholds, or is it because the existence of DR has changed player behavior so that they aren’t playing the way the want to play because of fear of hitting DR?
For example, DR in dungeons has made it so that players practically never do the same dungeon path twice a day (yes, the first path of the day officially gives a “bonus” reward that subsequent runs don’t give, but that’s just DR by a different name).
Gemstore armor is “stuff.” Disastrous NPE is “stuff.” Removing portions of the PS is “stuff.” Adding a few lines of code for colored commander tags and golem mastery is “stuff.”
To say they’re working on “stuff” is so little information it’s practically worthless.
The history of inaction by Anet (or at the very least perceived inaction by the playerbase) means there’s no deterrent. But yeah, the speed hacks especially seem to have spread quite a bit recently. I wonder if they have this problem in sPvP?
So resetting counts as a skill, or am I reading it wrong? Does this mean you can alternatively put loads of confusion (without getting downed) and then run back up the ramp and out of the area so that he resets? And does this work with other bosses kittenet?
They’ve already stated that they have zero plans for creating more dungeons.
OP’s post is uncomfortably similar to those posts that think stacking or skipping mobs is cheating/cheesy.
But in the end — just as with those posts — I do agree people should respect the conditions stated in a person’s LFG. Of course, there’s no such thing as party leader anymore so realistically, mob rules: you’re lucky they didn’t kick you!
Skin cash shop game whit massive grind
A cash-shop grindfest
You never played Korean MMOs, did you? Then you would know what grind game and cash-shop based means.
Anyway, GW2 is a PvE game that thinks PvP matters, targeted to casual players of any age.
I’m 30 years old.
Just because those have worse grind and cash-shop policies doesn’t mean GW2 isn’t grindy and cash-shop based.
What do we do to tend to trolls or spies who are burning supplies by building rams in the middle of no where near supply locations?
There is a line in the Tos/Eula/Tos or somewhere that states it is a violation to degrade the experience for other players (close guess paraphrasing here.) How do we draw attention to this?
When I played games like EQOA, they had a tab in the report/bug panel for this and GMs showed up very very quickly. It was also made well known that you could be very easily suspended for false reports, to limit that.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
There was recently a big incident (Halloween) where a player was griefing others who were farming ambients. They suspended/banned (not sure which) the guy. This is clearly precedent for punishing griefers (siege trolls, supply drainers) in WvW.
The only question is, this is WvW, not PvE so will anything be done? Likely not.
…goes to Ginva the Butcher!
In soviet GW2, exploits report you.
No, really – emailing to that adress is like writing the exploiters’ names on a piece of paper and throwing it out of the window. And if you try posting proofs on the forums, you get infracted for “naming and shaming”.
This. The time spent reporting is better spent logging into your alt parked at cursed shore and gathering elder wood hoping for a foxfire hit.
In fact if you did this every time you saw a hacker or griefer, you’d be rich in no time.
I’d say WvW players want/need gold and skins just the same as PvE players.
In fact, WvW has poor rewards so there’s possibly more chance a WvW player needs to buy gems to keep up with gold inflation and all the gemstore items.
And if the devs think WvW can’t be monetized, then they are very poor at their jobs. There have been a plethora of threads about monetizing WvW …skins for siege, for example: gemstore items are frequently old skins with a few added glowing lines (see newest set for example).. they could easily do the same with siege expending little to no effort.
Anyone seen this anywhere else besides EB in WvW? (Mithril node that only has 1 strike’s worth of ore.) There’s also the rich mithril that only allows 3 strikes.
If it’s only an EB thing, then is it a 2 year old joke by Anet referring to the lack of rewards in WvW?
Most sales will go smoothly if you don’t use protection but when you are eventually griefed, you will be really kittened as there is no recourse when it happens.
Remember boys and girls, always use protection.
Yeah. I was thinking about that when I was selling. As soon as someone joined I grabbed a screen shot of their name just in case. But I am going to try it again, and hopefully I can get a few fillers, as well as a greatly reduced running time
Just curious.. what profession are you soloing with?
They really care about PvP, yet the update will almost certainly be disappointing. They don’t care at all about WvW, so don’t expect any improvement.
- No community leads to
- no one cares about winning or losing leads to
- PvE karma train.
The fact is that WvW is plagued by hackers and trolls who are repeatedly reported by multiple people using all available methods over the course of many days — all to no avail.
The fact that GMs technically exist is irrelevant when pretty much nothing is ever done.
Most sales will go smoothly if you don’t use protection but when you are eventually griefed, you will be really kittened as there is no recourse when it happens.

EotM is basically the worst content in the game. Great for avoiding the horrid leveling experience though.
Jokes on OP because of all the time wasted reporting people.
If you’ve got credit for the event already, why bother waypointing and running back. It’s not as if you’re missing out on loot drops.
This is about DR. Is it based on when you kill something or when you pick up the loot? I vaguely remember people stating during the Blixx farm to pick up loot in 4 min intervals to slow down DR. Assume you’re allowed to answer this of course.
I cannot speak on the specifics, but I will say that it’s not really a thing anymore. In the last hour 26 people hit DR. Virtually nobody ever hits DR.
Your wording says 26 people “hit DR.” Does that include people who were already under DR? Is it “all the people who are under DR in the last hour” or “all the players who just got DR’d within the last hour?”
Also, it appears “within the last hour” was sometime monday morning. Care to share what the numbers are during primetime?

Honestly, don’t even bother reporting people. Even when things are supposedly acted upon (almost never), the offenders are back within a couple weeks (for example those how have FAST golems).
It’s so that you’ll log in every day so that it becomes a habit. I also give you the illusion that there’s more content than there actually is.
Both incapable and unwilling. (Remember the dev thread that asked for automatic solutions to siege trolling? They are clearly not willing to create a GM system. The thread was total fail as expected, by the way.)
EotM is for getting to 80 in order to avoid the new and “improved” leveling. Why would you want a tournament for that?
I’d definitely love to see more thorough reporting options, as well as a comment field to explain the situation. We can already do that with Bug Reports; it’d be nice to have that available for all other reports.
And, for the record, player moderators In-Game sounds like a terrible idea.
Let’s face it, Anet is not willing to put in the man hours to deal with hackers and griefers — particularly in WvW (one of many pieces of evidence: the dev created thread about automated siege troll solution.. which was a total fail, by the way)…
…so player moderation is pretty much the only option left (besides doing nothing, of course). Make it so that abuse of mod powers leads to perma-ban. So Anet only needs to monitor the player-mods instead of every single player (assuming they wish to do anything at all).
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2mgibt/why_ascended_gear_is_a_big_joke_in_pve/
In short, if you do a lot of sub-80 content (dungeons), Ascended gear often provides no bonus over exotic.
And in real-life circumstances, where you may have two exotics, each with a sigil specialized for different situations (day/night) …that may be better than having one Ascended with a generic sigil.
Try /ip. Is it 161? That one’s bad.
You can report the use of exploits via Exploits@Arena.Net. That’s the better course than adding a check-box to the report function in the game, because it allows you to describe what’s going on.
I’ll ask about changes and improvements to the in-game reporting system. This is something that’s come up in the past, and I’ve thought about, too. I’ll see if we can learn if this is in the works.
In the meantime, player input is welcome on how to improve the reporting system. One stipulation: I have never heard internally that there are plans to add the ability to “write notes” in the in-game report system. That may be on the docket, but at this time it would be best to make your suggestions around the existing system and not based on one that would include report notes.
Thank you.
Why bother reporting at all — particularly for WvW hackers — when the chances of action are pretty much zero, even if you have video evidence and multiple other people reporting, each using all available reporting methods?
And before you infract me, I’m not exaggerating: just ask anyone who plays WvW regularly, or simply check the official nonofficial WvW matchup forums.
What about the guild bounties?
They already removed loot in their new zone(s).
I hear they’ll come next… kinda like Carrion trinkets.
Here’s my experience:
When I used to fight Tazza solo with my necro in 6 pieces of knights armor, she would always target me with her GS #1 attacks. When I switched those out to zerker, she always targeted my minions.
What’s more interesting is that their reasoning for allowing instrument macros is that it doesn’t give a gameplay advantage.
So click macros for when you need to repeatedly click hundreds of times (opening bags, buying certain items from merchants, for example) should be allowable under the same reasoning. If the fear is that you are able to open bags faster than others, giving you an advantage, then it should be fair if your click macro clicked slower than human fingers. The point is that you get the benefit of not damaging your click finger or your mouse.
Look at how much new content they’ve created in two years. Do you really think they are even capable of creating enough new content for an expansion pack? (The answer is no.)
It seems to me that Tazza usually targets those with the highest toughness.
Best way: EotM through it all like a zombie (or watch TV while doing this); then start play at level 80.
Massive nerf + mobs don’t drop loot + boring, unchallenging faceroll content = empty map.
I just bumped into an NSP person I thought was hacking but this might be the cause, he was warping everywhere and couldn’t be hit
Still amazingly laggy as of 10 mins ago (2:30pm pacific time). Mapchat was saying it’s the 161 ip address that has problems.
Getting rid of white swords is their fix for siege disablers. Genius, right?
Do mobs drop loot in this other MMO? It’d be nice to have that for a change.
White swords are being removed because of the disaster that siege disablers have turned out to be (read the original post where they announced the removal of white swords).
It’s now extremely hard for a small group to ninja an upgraded tower … all it takes is one defender with disablers and your siege is chain-disabled until the blob comes to wipe you. Adopt-a-dev devs most certainly saw this so Anet implemented one of their two usual solutions to a bad mechanic: they introduce another mechanic (remove white swords in this case) as an indirect fix. Inevitably, their indirect fix is bad as well, and you end up with two bad mechanics.
(Their other solution to bad mechanics is to do nothing.)
There really is no hope. It’s sad, but the best possible outcome is that Anet does absolutely nothing and you get to ride WvW out until it bleeds completely dry.
Think Anet forgot to add some item sink like they had in Boss Blitz to counter all the champ bag inflation.
They probably didn’t think the farm would be as profitable as it has turned out to be.
Well, not sure if u guys already know, but the recent LS patch brought a new item that eats bloodstone dust (50x) and gives you a gift containing (1xequipment, 1xcraft mat, 1-3 white trash for sell).
So, I’m happy that I didn’t destroyed my ascended mats and have 7 mules filled with it.
Maybe more things like this hapen in future, so, as long as you have bank tabs/mule character to hold, is always nice
You probably lost more gold crafting Mawdrey than you’ll ever get back from her. If you had not crafted Mawdrey and trashed the dust you’re feeding her, you’d probably be ahead of where you are now.
All of Anet’s recent content have failed and become farmfests because they are all unchallenging. People worked at Liadri even though the rewards (goldwise) were very poor. But they felt accomplishment when they succeed. That keeps people in the game.
All the new content are faceroll easy. So you just get it done quickly and what’s left? Grinding for your Ascended gear; hence the farming. Looks good for Anet to have people running around for a change, but in the long run, the game feels tedious.
(Of course another substitute for challenging gameplay is an engaging story, but Anet has never been great at that, and is at the moment pretty terrible at it.)
Look at how many skills they’d have to create if they did this and look at how many skills they’ve managed to create since launch. I don’t think Anet is capable of doing this.
Since the “discuss rng conceptually” thread appeared, I have put more time into learning about current RNG models.
I felt, anecdotally, that there were a number of instances in my own experience, and in forum posts, regarding “runs.”
For example, 3 of 5 members pf a partty I was in for Tequatl recently got exactly the same aquabreather, and none of us had seen one in quite a while before that.
I got two Truths in two consecutive bags in EoTM, two weeks previous to that.
Back to the question..
In my research, I learned that there is a statistically disproportionate chance of runs in some pseudorandom number generation models (apparently, Java uses one of them, for example.)
Is the model used by Guild Wars 2 using the generator of its language, custom designed, chipset seeded, or…?
John, I imagine you have the tools to do an analysis of the quality of the rng model for the game. Has this been done, or are you willing to? I do understand you may not be able to publish your findings…
EDIT: This is a real, twchnical question with a finite answer. There -are- issues with some random number generators. Please read this to educate yourself on the topic:
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudorandom_number_generators
Could it be that your examples are actually examples of the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon and not Anet’s RNG system?
