Candy Corn Gobbler: non multiple of 400 gems.

Candy Corn Gobbler: 300 gems,
Haunted Gramophone: 600 gems.

Again with the non-multiples of 400 gems, which is still the lowest possible gold to gem exchange amount. It looks to me that Anet’s just stalling the change as long as possible in order to take advantage of players during the temporary holiday event boost in population.

I already gave up on wvw after siege disablers came in. Now we need something to counter siege disabler, so we remove white swords. Anet, just admit that siege disabler was a bad idea and scrap it.

It’s a habit of Anet to fix mistakes in roundabout ways, frequently introducing more mistakes. They do these all the time with skill balancing screw ups.

After all, the changes provide enough space for further changes to mechanics (provided by Anet) and play styles (required from us).

If they leave us without swords without compensation to emphasise on defense, active play and communications, that’d be bad. As long as we don’t know if they give us some tools neccessary to tackle these, I’d keep calm and wait for what they’ll throw at us in December, though.

Let’s keep quiet and wait, after all they won’t release commander tags with each color sold separately, right?

The time to give Anet the benefit of the doubt, when it comes to WvW, has long passed.

I saw a dip in velocity the first couple days after the TP changes went live, but it felt like it recovered pretty quickly.

What segments are you seeing a pronounced loss of velocity in?

I’m specifically talking about level 80 blues and greens of all kinds except for cloth items (from WvW kills).

What I’m seeing is:

  • If the lowest sell price gets you more than vendor value (after TP fees).
  • If there are buy orders.

Then before the new TP, items would almost always sell. Now, these items almost never sell.

You are entirely correct sir, I thought about this when I originally posted. It’s a shame that the actions of a few reflect poorly upon many. I understand and agree that it was
only a small number of people using a hack or exploit. After both inner and outer walls where down guild [CF] came into bay and capped it. Maybe anet can ask them, who took the walls down for them.

Alright now you’re just asking for a moderator to come in.

Im going to state my piece, I know the [CF} guys, they don’t cheat, they don’t condone cheating, and their leader wouldn’t ever include anyone whose abused exploits in their roster. So again, before you start belittling the entire server for one corrupt person’s action im going to ask you to clean up your own servers actions. Thanks and have a nice day.

Yet apparently, they took advantage of the hacker’s work and stole the tower. Maybe they didn’t know who took it down? Who knows….

In any case, pretty soon CD will be well known for this just like FSP’s reputation is that of the server with the invisible “unknown” hackers. And there’s nothing anyone can do about it (including CD themselves).. that’s the tragedy.

Had this game for nearly two years now, and never really got in it was always swapping classes never settling at all so I never got to the end stuff ever. I figured I’d see about coming back but from what I’ve read on these forums they have all changed a lot,
If I did come back would it be best to start fresh? I never got a class higher than mid 20s ,Playing certain other game I’ve always preferred the ranged role, with the chance to heal thrown in, but they have to look well good, not talking the skimpy stuff but the nice looks.
Is lvling different now? are there still the champ trains for a quick boost? are there things I should know of?
I know some of these questions seem like they are very open and depends on how I want to play but any information is good information
thank you

There’s been very little added content since launch. If you didn’t like the game enough to play it before, you won’t like it now.

I’ve noticed that regular loot drops (blue and green weapons and armor) aren’t selling nearly as well as before the new TP was introduced.

One guess is that players are happy to receive the equivalent of vendor value on the TP. Previously they’d have to do some math to figure out what that value is so there was a tendency to sell a bit higher. Now no math is necessary.

I don’t even bother with the TP anymore for blues and greens.

Then I look at the lfg again and the ads is up again. So I join again and leave the party soon after so that I can have their names. Is this reportable? Has this game become something so boring that people play the tool to fool around instead of playing the game?

Not even close to reportable. Maybe they saw your profession and decided to kick you. That’s perfectly reasonable.

Or everyone is doing Halloween content and aren’t buying their normal amount of items/mats.

But this was happening before the Halloween event started.

I think players leaving the game is some of it…

…but perhaps part of it is having the red “this is the minimum price” warning allows players to easily sell at the lowest possible price without having to worry about losing money (compared to selling at the merchant)?

Very few items ended up without buyers.

This was before the new TP. Now if I do the same, most items do not sell.

At this point, any attention to WvW is welcome, especially an easily reversed change like this.

I know that we all want 2 new maps so that every borderland isn’t the same (Hell, I’ll take one new map and the krait lake map), but that’s not coming.

Anet rarely reverts bad changes. What they usually do is make another bad change in an attempt to band-aid the first one.

In fact, I wonder if the removal of white swords was intended to be a “fix” for siege disablers.

Judging by the emphasis on new players this, no changes to festivals has a certain logic – they are giving the new players they are trying to attract the same content to experience.

Whether this is a good idea is ofc up for continued debate. I’m certainly having fun, blowing off a tiring week hunting candy.

“New players” is just their current favorite excuse for unpopular changes. None of these “new players” excuses hold water when you think about them for more than a minute.

For Halloween, most likely they simply didn’t want to/was incapable of creating new content for the holiday… after all, they have a Living Story to develop and four bi-weekly episodes every six months is just too much for them to handle.

I cant tell you when it was up cause i cant see my log from 2 days ago but i can tell you for sure that immediately when i saw that the build was available i restart gw2 and start downloading the patch.

It took me 1 to 2 minutes to download and get in (to be noted that my internet speed its 125mb/s). And under a minute to get in in-game and see the gem stuff (Load screen is a pain when a new build comes up)

So like i said, cant give an exact hour but i can tell you the time i waited to download + get in (3min so and so).

Well it certainly sounds like an unbelievable spike, but I don’t think it’s at all impossible. Considering the number of people who play, all it would take is for a significant chunk with higher download speeds to have logged in before anyone else and made large exchanges. Or even a small handful making gigantic exchanges.

Without the data of who makes what exchanges and for how much (something that Anet happens to have) it’s hard to see the specifics of how it could have played out.

But history says that in the past, holidays have not had such a dramatic effect. So why this time?

The real interesting thing this all tells us (whether or not the gem exchange was fiddled with) is that players no longer trust Anet at all. Anet should really think hard about how they got into this situation.

Those customers who have not played in a while and come to speak their opinions about why they aren’t coming back are probably ones that Anet should be closely listening to: especially as more and more customers are falling into this category.

If Anet were to ban anyone from posting, it would be better to ban those who defend Anet no matter what actions Anet takes. It’s (ironically) these people who hurt the game far more than those the OP wants to ban.

Worse that a wasted chance: because all the devs adopted themselves to T1, we’re now going to have white swords removed. We would have been better off without the adopt-a-dev.

The bolded section is blatantly false. We had developers spread across all of the leagues. Don’t mistake your guild not getting a developer to mean there were no developers on your tier. If you want a developer in your guild, just apply again next time. The program was very positively received by our developers, so many of them are likely to participate again.

The bolded part is blatantly false. My guild neither applied for, nor cares to apply for adopt-a-dev.

But let’s focus on the real issue:

Fact of the matter is that one of the worst possible ideas for WvW: removal of white swords from the game, came out of adopt-a-dev. It’s not just an experimental idea that turned out to have negative repercussions when fully thought out. It’s clear to anyone who has a view of the game from (at least) T4 and down that this is game-destroying levels of bad.

For Anet’s sake, I seriously recommend an analysis: How did such a terrible idea get all the way to the point of “we’re going to implement this” in the official forums?

All Anet has to do is balance dungeons around a party of five, rather than… balance the part around a party of two or however they are balanced now.

They are balanced around a party of five. But when there’s no new content for two years, the dungeon paths that do exist get run so many times they become easy.

Just think about how hard people were saying the dungeons were 2 years ago.

That they think this would be a positive change just shows how out of touch Anet is with the current state of the game. It’s pretty sad.

At least scouts before had a decent chance to encounter action when moving to white swords. Now they’ll be either sitting in towers doing absolutely nothing the whole time. Even if it were rewarding, it’s not “gameplay.” Who’s gonna want to do this.

And again… many posters focussing on bronze servers being hurt by this. Not so. Borderlands defended by fewer than 10 people are the norm outside of primetime all the way up to mid-silver servers (maybe even higher).

It’s not just low tier servers that are going to have problems with removal of white swords. Even in T4 there are large periods of time when there aren’t enough people in a BL to have even one person in every tower and camp.

And even if there were, that’s not enough: you need responders who aren’t tied to their towers/camps otherwise it’d be too easy to split your attack to steal a tower (again, because no more white swords).

This is going to be a massive disaster… and is of course the result of the the adopt-a-dev devs all going to T1.

Could be a terrain glitch unique to that area that gets the guy up there (there are lots of well known terrain glitches that allow people to “mountain goat” in dungeons, for example).

raethe — I understand what you’re saying, but I read Sanderinoa’s original post as saying that the guild is taking a time-out, not making a departure. We know that guilds sometimes do that, and it’s perfectly fine. (In fact, it’s one of the beauties of Guild Wars 2 that you don’t have that monthly fee nagging you that “I must play to get my money’s worth!” )

I feel sure that Sanderinoa and the guild will be back in the future, and we’ll be very happy when that happens!

Why do you feel so sure they’ll be back? The dungeon community has been hemorrhaging players since the last feature patch. For example, see:

Adapt A Dev: A Wasted Last Chance?

Lord Kuru.3685

I can’t speak for everyone but the developer that I played with was for kind, and actually asked for player feedback. Several times during the week we would have at least 10 people from the server discussing ideas and possible solutions.

Anet is trying, they are listening. Now we need to wait and see if they are willing to fix things.

The major problem is budget and management. Putting aside the fact that most things in this game are poorly designed/implemented, the entire direction of the game has been wrong as well. That points to poor management and those managers are going to look at numbers and metrics instead of trusting devs who’ve talked to players. The WvW community can talk to the devs until they are blue in the face, but at the end of the day the devs won’t get the resources to do anything with it. Since the game was steered into temporary content and Living world for so long, that’s the main playerbase. If Anet suddenly shifts gears towards WvW, which has seen big population decreases, they risk alienating their main playerbase. Unless management somehow changes and the budget gets bigger, nothing game changing will be done. It is too big of a risk to bet that making big WvW changes will bring players back. The only real hope is an expansion, but again…management.

I agree: management is definitely a large part of the problem.

It’s no secret that the devs don’t care for WvW, so we can’t really expect any meaningful content/updates; but look at the LS. Even with Anet’s full, 100% attention, they only manage 4 “biweekly” episodes over six months. Poor management seems like a very reasonable explanation.

It’s more of the same attempt to appease the serious outrage in the forums and in game by creating these threads to give the false sense that actual changes are going to be made. As sooo many people have pointed out, we had a CDI session over a year ago and got NOTHING. I guess the newer players are going to buy it…
