Account bound food, account bound amberite weapons. I suspect Anet is really desperate for metrics showing people are in these new zones.
so what are the stealth-patch notes?
Nope. #fifteenchars
No thanks, then.
I assume they’ve got a dungeon/fractal team but alas, we’ve gotten 1 new fractal and 1 new dungeon path in over a year (and fractal re-treeing).
Dungeon team was disbanded over a year ago. Team leader no longer works at Anet.
Merely logging in isn’t enough to unlock it.
… does it give any bonus items (e.g. watchwork sprockets)?
- The megaserver nature of EoTM ensures it has no community.
- No community means there’s no “team spirit.”
- No team spirit means no one cares about winning or losing.
- No one caring about winning or losing means 24/7 karma train.
EoTM’s massive failure is actually a great lesson on the importance of community. Of course Anet didn’t learn that when they used EoTM as a beta for megaservers.
Not really true as WvW karma training was/is a thing on normal WvW maps with the very communities you think so highly of. It’s the same in all MMO’s, just look at ESO with the emperor unlock. Same 3 faction with communities on each side, but they coordinate to trade emperor back and forth.
The two major reasons it happens:
Rewards for not fighting > Rewards for fighting
Eotm is the best map to do it inThere is no reason to win the match because the ultimate reward isn’t great. The potential karma/loot is far better just karma training. Dangle a big carrot as a reward for winning and watch how quickly all sides fight tooth and nail to get it.
WvW karma training has generally been restricted to the end of the week, after the PPT results have long been determined. EoTM is 24/7 karma train. I don’t think anything will save EoTM as long as they keep the megaserver feature.
Given zero dev attention, seasons only burn players out and in the long run decrease the WvW population.
If, on the other hand, a new BL or EB map were released from time to time (say, every 1/2 year), seasons would probably be a catalyst for increasing short and long term WvW population.
Oh well.
WvW is the end game, they never truly realized that…Instead they chose to keep believing that people killing trash mobs with different skins every 2 weeks was the “real end game”.
That is very one sided view on GW2.
It would be interesting to see some statistics of popularity of each game mode. For example hours played in WvW, EotM, SPvP, Dungeons, idled in cities.
Judging by the development efforts we can guess living story is the only thing players have interest in. No, I am not envious. Really. Maybe little.
He’s right. What other game mode can support the population that WvW has supported with absolutely no meaningful new content for two years after release.
PvP-type players are actually very self-sufficient and for the most part, create their own endgame. All they need is a small bit of attention (as compared to PvE) to keep things going.
Of course there’s a minimum amount of attention that needs to be given to the game mode before it becomes too dry and stale to keep going. Anet hasn’t met that minimum for a long while now and the drastic decline of the WvW population has reflected that.

- No community means there’s no “team spirit.”
- No team spirit means no one cares about winning or losing.

Don’t worry, they’ve been “working on pinning this down and fixing it” for six months. Maybe a couple years more and they’ll get it.
In the meantime, /sit
OP got it already: “hype.” It’s by far what Anet’s best at delivering.
They don’t have the resources available for a dungeon team. Those Fractal Leaderboards are surely taking up all their dev time.
All reports of griefing, from PvE, PvP and WvW go through the same process:
email to support with attached screenshots.
It’s a known fact that for WvW, Anet does nothing with reports communicated in this way. If PvE reports are treated the same way, you’re just wasting your time.
We know issues reported for WvW keep continuing. WvW community is very aware of which ones those are, unfortunately.
Guessing, based on past experience, that PvE related issues are treated differently. Also, in PvE, screenshots would actually capture names (instead of “unknown”).
The “unknown” problem is but a small percentage of the WvW griefing/hacking problems. Most are easily reportable with all kinds of evidence: screenshots and video. Many have been reported with such evidence. Never has any action been taken by Anet.
We knew all this was going to happen with megaservers. Just look at the megaserver “beta test” that was EoTM: no community there has made it into a spectacular failure of 24/7 karma train.
Is there a bug with the illusion health gain skills/traits (signet of illusions and persisting images)? I suspect one or both are not working as they’re supposed to.
It’s not against ToS (as far as I know), but it is embarrassing for Anet the info they’re putting up for everyone to see is so easily gamed.
Trash them. Even if you had spent them in the only way possible (Queen’s Gauntlet), your return would have been far less than running dungeons using that same amount of time.
We don’t know what their limitations are, or their hack/cheat detection protocols are, or what methods they have available to deal with such things. To say that they are not doing anything about it may not be accurate at all. I would think that instead of just banning the offender, who will come back with another account (hacked and stolen from someone else most likely), they would flag the offender. And by flagging them, and watching them, learn HOW they are doing what they are doing, and the best methods to not only stop them from continuing to do so, but to prevent future exploiters from using the same methods.
Considering many of the hacks we’re talking about have been in-game two years, it’s safe to say Anet’s doing absolutely nothing.
There are flaws in WvW via 1v1 imbalance but beyond that there is a flaw with WvW. What is this flaw? That’s simple, there is ZERO incentive to play the mode.
There still are some people who play the game mode, but only because of the server communities that has developed. You want to see ZERO incentive, just take a look at EoTM.
I was at a world boss farming session and somebody claimed to get Dawn out of one of the chests. This left me thinking- are the precursors such a significant portion of the cost of a legendary that it would always make sense to craft the legendary rather than sell the precursor? Since the legendary is presumably worth more than the precursor would it make more financial sense to complete the legendary and sell that, and then use those funds to buy what you really wanted?
The way the loot system is, your best option is almost always to play GW2 like a job: earn gold with whatever is the most convenient method and buy what it is you really want with that gold.
So in this particular case, craft the Legendary, sell it, and buy whatever it is you really want with the proceeds.
when will this be fixed, it happens every time I play this game.
When people start reporting bugs in the bug forums.
Yeah. That’ll get it fixed alright.
I am quoting this from a deve, “don’t conflate a lack of updates that you personally like with a lack of updates.”.
In absolute terms, there has been a lack of updates. As for updates that most WvW players like, even fewer.
Post your ideas and suggestions in an educated manner below! I’m looking forward to seeing the other ideas from everyone! I know there will be better ones than what are posted above!
What’s the point, unless you’re planning on developing a WvW-type game yourself. Anet’s certainly not going to do anything.
How can people know that ArenaNet does nothing, if they themselves do not use the hacks and get away with it?
That’s your argument? Seriously? Vayne’s back, you gotta work harder than that.
Getting Ascended drops is worse than getting greens. With greens, you sell and get gold.
With Ascended, you get stats you don’t want. So either it rots in your inventory because you hope against hope that someday Anet will allow them to be TP’d (zero chance), or you vendor it and feel bad that you just vendored an Ascended drop.
Megaserver —> anonymity —> people are more apt to grief.
I got a recipe and just discovered the food itself is account bound… so what’s the point of getting any if you can only use it for yourself? What’s with all this account bound stuff now anyway? All the stuff in Dry Top is account bound. VERY disappointed with that.
This makes it more important for those who do want the recipes to be able to get them.
I’ve logged on several times in the past few days to instances that are at the sandstorm and yet still T1. It’s probably very close to being too late to obtain the higher tier recipes in Dry Top.
It is so cute that people always dig up my posting history everytime I post something. I suppose behaving maturely and actually argue the points is to much to hope for?
Good job at basically making sure the thread is deleted though.
Because it gives context to your posts.
Besides, how long ago were they reported? Days, weeks, maybe a couple of months at most? There is no way to tell how many out of the millions of players are submitting support tickets. With that many players you could reasonably expect to see THOUSANDS of tickets a day. Yours just may be lower on the queue.
A couple of months? You have got to be joking. I have one griefer from season 1 (over 6 months ago) on my friends list who has never been dealt with despite multiple reports from multiple people. And yes, including video evidence.
@OP
Can you give a specific example of someone using a hack or cheat? Not the methods used, but the effects of the hack?
I’m not the OP, but I can provide plenty of vids. I would be immediately banned from this forum forever. pdavis? Google is your friend.
Yes im sure it is a bannable offence, but even so, its hard to believe that anet isnt doing anything about it.
I’ve sent video. I’ve friended to see if player got banned. Still going strong. Anet did nothing.
Same here. Multiple times, multiple offenders. Nothing was ever done.
I’ve been soloing SEp1 and at Tazza, I’ve been trying to get my phantasms to survive her Mind Stab. It doesn’t seem to be working and something seems fishy.
So here’s the data:
- Mind Stab does around 6000 damage to me: 5958, 6034 are a couple examples from my combat log.
- The wiki says that my illusions have the same armor as my mesmer so they should be taking around 6000 damage from Mind Stab as well.
- However, my mesmer has 11082 health in the dungeon (level 65), which is 69% of my level 80 health.
- The wiki says phantasms have 5969 health at level 80. Assuming phantasms downscale the same amount (69%), that means they should have 4119 base health in the dungeon.
- With Signet of Illusions (+ 50% health) and Persisting Images (+ 20% health), they should have 4119*1.70 = 7002 health in the dungeon.
- But 7002 health means my phantasms should be surviving Tazza’s 6000 damage Mind Stab. They’re not.
So what’s wrong? Is some of my info wrong, or did I interpret something incorrectly? Or is there something wrong with Signet of Illusions/Persisting Images?
To be fair how do you know that there aren’t in-game moderators?
Just because you don’t see them doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
You don’t really believe this, do you?
Do you think there will be other ways to get these recipes in the future? Because when these two weeks are over, you’ll likely never see a T4 Dry Top again.
Terrible WvW map. Way too busy: just like a blown up version of the failed bloodlust ruins.
That’s what the old CDIs were and players have finally caught on.
Maybe after they implement the precursor scavenger hunt, or fractal leaderboards?
the devs practically don’t post in this part of the forum anymore, so we don’t actually know if wvw is no longer a priority or the lone dev working on wvw is too busy to reply.
LOL. Busy doing what?
I can get behind the GW1 District dropdown box idea. That’s the only difference between the current Megaservers, and GW1’s town districts.
Yet it’s the difference between easy to use and horribly frustrating, terrible, as well as user unfriendly.
EoTM = (roughly) megaserver —> no community —> no one cares about winning or losing —> karma train.
I recommend SEp1 as a starter:
- all bosses except Tazza are champs so the fights don’t get too tedious.
- all fights can be made into one-on-one encounters so learning each boss is easier.
If you’re parked in a city, there’s zero punishment for doing this (you wake up dead but WPs are free, and armor damage is a non-mechanic now).
Right now there are two things I’m very unhappy with in the game.
- The new trait system needs to be fixed: too many traits are unlocked in areas that you can’t do at the level you should get access to them
- not enough skills: being stuck with only 2-5 skills per weapon is limiting builds. If they gave us just double what we have now(10 for 2-handed, 6 for 1-handed, and 4 for offhand) we could have more than 1 meta-build per profession
It’s really unlikely Anet will change these anytime soon. Meanwhile, this works:
Level to 80 in EoTM before you really start to play your toon.
Don’t bother. Anet has never and will never do anything about it.
The best we can hope for are very small QoL improvements that can be easily implemented.
I think the best I can really hope for at this point is for them to arbitrarily rename things and shuffle merchants around, as that seems to be all the attention WvW is getting lately…
Shuffling merchants around is pretty much all my suggestion is about, so maybe we can actually get that in an update? Anet can advertise it as a “Major WvW update” as they are wont to do.
Part of the problem is that the +40% food is extremely easy to get.
Remember when they advertised Canach’s Lair as a dungeon? This time we get a new (mini-me) map.
Imagine how bad it would be if the map were actually a decent size.
im so excited man!
Wait till you learn about the silver doubloons.
