My wants:
Pie in the sky, no chance of implementation:
- Two new maps every year: one EB and on BL. Maps chosen using RNG (this is a must for Anet) for each matchup.
- Mods (non-paid players with threat of perma-ban for abuse of power) to deal with hackers, griefers.
- Fix stuck bug.
Somewhat realistic:
- Move NPCs a bit away from supply depots so you don’t talk to them by accident when you wish to pick up supply.
Realistic:
- Some sort of monkey’s paw implementation of what’s desired.
Terrible idea. Perhaps you should apply to work at Anet?
what bug would that be ?
and that post is ridiculous to say the least
The hammer bug where you can’t recover it and you have to restart.
Don’t forget fractals also have bugs like in the cliffside fractal where you must completely restart the whole fractal set.
Why would they do this? It’s pretty clear the whole point of the pricing structure and release of these tags is as a money grab.
As for the marketing failure, this isn’t the first time.
Manifesto is the best example.
Not sure why you say this. The manifesto tricked tons of people into buying the game. It was a massive marketing win.
These two points show the massive disconnect between the devs and how this game is played:
- This is a thrown projectile, and as such, can be countered by abilities that block or reflect projectiles (Shield of Absorption, Swirling Winds, etc)
It’s amazing that you think projectile blocking will have any significant effect on the use of this trick/trap.
- It has a ~5silver, 10 supply and 15 badge cost. This cost coupled with the above point, will likely limit the amount that these items are used to important tactical plays.
It’s equally amazing that you think this cost will limit the amount these are used.
And in terms of gameplay. Not sure why you want to create items that either:
- favor the large force even more.
- promote stalemates with people milling around either inside (defense) or outside (offense) waiting for trapped siege to go off cooldown.
And what did happen to EoTM as a testing ground for ideas? It fails at that also?
esports will be a fail until we can get balance updates faster than once every 5 to 6 months. The balance team really needs to step up their game.
Wasn’t the last balance update in December; over 8 months ago?
More power for golems? Seriously?
You can almost be guaranteed WvW will be megaservered like EoTM — probably in the medium term. That’ll probably be WvW’s last breath as k-training in EoTM is more profitable due to the rewards discrepancy between WvW and EoTM.
In higher tiers, WvW is already largely more GvG than it is actual WvW. This even caused that one dev to say that GvGers are ruining his game mode way back when.
This actually happened in Tier 5/6.
2) Hackers; our beloved glitchers could cause severe problems with these. One person could literally stop an entire zerg by being untouchable under the ground disabling siege.
That’s a really good point, especially since there’s virtually no chance Anet will ever act on the hacking/hackers.
Is this for real? Sounds like if you have fewer defenders than attackers, you’ll always lose your gates/walls.
And what did happen to the “EoTM as a WvW testbed” (that Anet explicitly used as one of the reasons for the creation of EoTM)?
Do it. It’s the best way to avoid the horribly tedious experience that’s the current state of leveling a character.
If you’re worried about the karma train being derailed: it’s always happened from time to time with all kinds of trains. People used to derail the Queensdale champ train all the time by killing bosses before the train arrived. With EoTM, just leave the instance and go to another.
There is no real concerted WvW effort to “take back” EoTM. It’s been a massive fail-map WvW-wise since the beginning : that’s the reason it’s now a PvE karma train in the first place.
Surely the whole point of having different colours is so people don’t get confused who they’re supposed to be following around. Making someone pay another 300g just to have a different colour completely negates the ability for people to switch colours to suit the situation and who else is on the map.
Biggest utter fail in design history ever!
It’s not design fail. You are misunderstanding Anet’s intent.
You think the purpose of tag colors is to give WvW easier organization and communication, but it’s not.
However, WvW is but a very tiny consideration in this decision. It’s clear the main intent is to make some quick money.
For all those asking for the price to be changed into badges:
- Badges will never be a primary currency because of the achievement chest giveaways and EoTM k-train.
- There is no way to obtain badges through gems/gemstore.
Apparently Anet had a gamescom presentation today.
Anyone know if they said anything about WvW?
Also, did they show any WvW videos that were submitted by users (see this post: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Call-to-Arms-We-want-your-WvW-videos/first)?
Edit: gamescom not gamescon.

Just log in one day every two weeks. Unless you enjoy grinding for achievements and whatever the flavor of the moment backpiece happens to be. Not much else you can do.
Because: teen/younger, male audience.
@non toxic
I’m going to laugh when , yes WHEN, the all the changes that people have been QQing about finally get released. The devs have stated multiple times that they have something in the works, but its not ready to go live yet. So unless they are straight up lying, which they have 0 reason to do so and in doing so would probably cost them their jobs, something IS coming. Its just not ready for launch.
You have got to be either joking or totally deluded. There is pretty much zero chance anything is in the works. And why would lying about it cost them their jobs? It keeps people like you strung along.
Soon right? Before or after precursor scavenger hunt and fractal leaderboards?
I have an awesome video in production, please allow some more time past the Aug 12 deadline. I’ll have it done soon. I promise.
I understand in certain countries there are rules against harming/killing children in video games.
It’s very close to too late for any more "eventually"s.
If you’ve seen any samurai movie, that’s how they hold it.
That still doesn’t answer what I was asking :p
Did anyone ask the devs, likely in the condition of some sort of press conference, meet-and-greet, live-stream or podcast or whatever, if they ever considered adding more skills? I know someone has had to ask since this was a question people were asking about 10 months after the game released and I witnessed it
Funny you should ask… from a blog post a little over a year ago from Colin Johnson.
We’ll begin regularly adding new skills and traits to the game for each profession to expand your characters and builds! You will be able to earn these new traits and skills by unlocking them. To go along with this, we’ll expand the content and options to earn skill points to help encourage players to experience different challenges and content throughout the world. These skills and traits will be designed to be balanced with the existing skills/traits we currently have in the game, and will simply compliment and expand the range of abilities and tactics available to each profession. Both WvW and PvE players can acquire skills and traits, and additional means of earning skill points will be addressed for both core content areas.
The regular addition of skills and traits that you can earn as you play provides us an extremely stable, easily expandable reward system that fits neatly into the pillars of progression and advancement that Guild Wars 2 are all about. Your character will be able to grow and change for years to come without invalidating everything you’ve earned so far.
I think by “regular” he meant one healing skill once a year. So that still counts, right?
By the way, Anet should be embarrassed that people feel the need for such a kickstarter.
Belinda’s death didn’t do it for you?
That was only tragedy for the weak minded who didn’t instantly realize upon her introduction that her purpose was to die “tragically.”
- Playing with anonymous people (basically megaserver) means no community, which means no one cares about winning or losing.
- Map is too busy. Basically a giant version of the reviled skyhammer.
Necroposts do not add value, but they do seem to annoy Anet for some odd reason.
All the necroposts show how Anet consistently fail to deliver on their promises. That’s why they annoy Anet.
> What problem? Those are optional, you dont have to do it.
Ironic as you are grinding the moment you start playing any MMO, if you notice that or not is another matter.
This. And in GW2, you do notice it.
Filling it in with something was better than leaving it the way it was.
The dev time wasted on doing that should have been spent on something else.
The level designer and/or artist(s) that improved performance for everyone across the board? What the hell else would you have been happy with? Leaving it the way it was? Somebody had to do it.
I have no idea what you’re talking about because there were no serious performance issues associated with the lake. And even if there were, they could have just drained the water and filled it with sand.
Instead, they wasted a huge amount of dev time creating an area no one ever goes and introduced a mechanic that angered the whole WvW community.
Anet and the WvW population have completely different visions of the game. In the end, players are the ones who pay the bills.
Filling it in with something was better than leaving it the way it was.
The dev time wasted on doing that should have been spent on something else.
What it also means is that we take note of when you all ask for or suggest a feature that is currently under development, so that down the line, when it’s actually released and a bunch of people clamor to the forums to complain that “nobody asked for this” (you know who you are), we can refer back and be secure in the knowledge that somebody did, in fact, ask for it.
For any suggestion, there’s always someone who suggests it, no matter how terrible.
If you’re consoling yourself after creating failed content (e.g., EoTM, bloodlust ruins) by saying “some players asked for it” then you’re just making excuses for poor development.
Being disruptive on the forums (in old or new threads), making rude or demanding posts and posting comments like “there is no WvW team anymore” are hardly an endearing method that encourages our developers to post more. I would ask that you take this into consideration when posting as well.
Saying this is not going to get people to make fewer posts of the kind you list. People have already lost faith in the devs and are merely venting anger at this point.
“Who cares if there is a red post or not because it’s not going to say anything positive anyway,” is the general attitude right now.
If Anet wants better relations with the WvW community, it has to be the one to act first: the players have already given up on the devs.
Interesting! Someone decided to change the title of the thread for me
That’s confirmation that someone has seen your thread. Yet you have not been infracted for posting about exploits and the thread has not been deleted.
I think we may conclude that gate rezzing is permitted.
People are suckers for gambling.
Anet almost certainly makes more money with the gambling than they would if they sold direct.
The real question you should be asking is whether it’s morally ok to push gambling on to children (the game is rated “Teen”). (Yes, Anet knows that’s what they’re doing… hence the slot machine look of the Black Lion chests.)
ahh thats what I was wondering.
I have heard that it does ok for the extra silver in Edge, and WvW for fights. it tends to add up.
But when dungeons are concerned I just never really paid attention to any coin that trash dropped or what not. So on those occasions where you DO kill off the trash you get an extra bit of something.
meh,
yeah it made me sad. I replaced it with a MF infusion for the extra magic find but I still hate feeling like I wasted 20 laurels.
That’s funny because Anet is currently trying to nullify MF by moving away from mobs that drop loot and towards chest rewards that aren’t affected by MF.
I think this is the best answer we’ll get:
If you get infracted, then this is an exploit. If not, then not.
I’d love to have a flesh golem that stands around doing nothing on both land and water.
More Queen Jennah minis, of course.
It slows down production on the rest of a game.
I don’t think there is production on the rest of the game at all.
As for the stuck bug: if you WvW, it happens all the time when you build siege.
You’re not gonna be getting that DPS from a Flesh Golem when he’s standing around refusing to attack. It happens a lot.
Imagine a conversation between me and my spouse:
Me:“Honey, I’ll probably be home after work at 7pm”
(after i get home late at 9pm)
Spouse:“You said you’ll be home 7pm, but you broke your promise!”
Me:“I said probably! This is why i shouldn’t tell you anything, you always over react!”
Now imagine you did this every single day. That’s Anet (actually with the whole game, but most glaringly with WvW).
If you enjoy roaming why on earth would you transfer to a server that you have heard has a lot of roamers? Wouldn’t you want to transfer to a server that regularly face those servers?
My advice would be to absolutely not transfer to NSP.
Maybe think of it this way:
If the roaming on NSP weren’t fun, all the roamers would leave. The existence of a lot of roamers means NSP (for whatever reason) is always in tiers where there is good roaming.
So it’s the player’s fault. Of course!
Of course everything is ArenaNets fault.
And if this didn’t happen and bots kept running around like mad forever it would be ArenaNets fault as well.
Just like the situation in the Middle-East and the starvation in Africa.
Read your own post. You literally said that it’s the players fault if they get falsely banned by Anet. Seriously?
If you behave exactly like a bot (which based on my observation from farming trees) which about 99% of the farmers do, is it really that weird that you get handled like a bot?
So it’s the player’s fault. Of course!
The 5 stages of grief:
- Denial
- Anger
- Bargaining
- Depression
- Acceptance
I’d say people are way past Anger at this point.
Here’s a whole bunch:

Anet likes to be agile, and willing to change their overall plans in order to adapt
Where did you get this from?
The Watchwork Pick also means that there is every possibility that new logging axes or sickles may be released that have additional bonuses too, so you may want to keep that in mind when making the choice to buy one of the existing unlimited tools.
This. All other unlimited picks give you convenience, but loses you money (in the cost). The watchwork pick gives you convenience and makes you money.
Don’t buy unlimited tools unless they give a bonus because you will kick yourself when the next tool that’s released does give a bonus.
