Does that mean that you will be fixing the party chat vanishing so that IF this happens you actually have the names to be able to report them ??
Has anyone had any luck getting people punished for griefing their run? There are regular griefers whose names are known and who have been reported innumerous times.
What use is fixing the party chat if no action is ever taken against those who are reported?
- What happens if you solo and experience a short DC? What happens if your entire party sees a short DC?
- Does anyone really think they will put more resources (i.e. money) into investigating griefers? This is going to get nasty (see post above by Maliel.8362).
- With this change, it appears you can ferry people into instances they couldn’t otherwise open (dungeon explorable modes) and leave yourself. Perhaps the locking of explorable paths should be completely removed because this makes it moot?
How do you even interpret this blog post as hype? Seriously? This is hype?
“Hey how are you doing? I’m Isaiah Cartwright and here are a few things that you can expect to see in the feature pack.”
Act like they made an action trailer about how this is going to be rolled out. Then in other posts some of you turn around and say “not enough communication!”
Lack communication?
Hype?
Wasn’t worth the post?Lol…
I got nothing against the post other than the fact they shouldn’t have said GALORE when they just list of 3 vague changes….don’t half kitten the articles…
Maybe they’re trying to get away from overusing the word “exciting” but made a poor choice with “galore” as a replacement?
Not that these changes are exciting either — besides the performance enhancement (of which we known nothing), the instance owner fix has serious issues (with griefers) and both the instance owner and crafting issues should have been resolved a LONG time ago.
- This was the only protection against someone griefing your instance.
There appears to be some nice debug messages for party join/leave that I’m going to see if I can turn into “LFG Messages” in the chat log which should make this easier…
So now you’ll know who griefed your instance. But what good is that when reports always fail to end up in action: how many times has the well-known Arah griefer been reported? Are we going to have to return to using gw2lfg to protect our parties?
- If you’re soloing and you leave the instance (in particular DC briefly), it dies? If your entire party DCs, the instance dies?
- If person A hasn’t unlocked an explorable to a dungeon, can person B open it, invite A, then leave the dungeon for A to finish? Is there a point to having locked dungeons if this is possible?
You guys still believe that a precursor crafting or quest is on the way??? I got a bridge to sell you also…..
This. As long as players accept being strung along, these won’t be coming.
So I was in Div Reach and there were a group of people who were dancing as Ursans with ursan Tonics. And I got in the middle and started playing an instrument and they liked having me there. A Game Dev came and Asked me to move from the middle of their group and I didn’t really feel like it, and kept playing…He wanted a picture I guess, And out of nowhere I got DCed and I logged right back in in the middle of them all again, and got instantly DCed again. The next time I logged back in I didn’t get DCed again, I assumed he got his picture. I felt like the DCing was probably against a rule or something, and I confronted him about it asking if it was against a rule to DC me like that and he just ignored me. The Dev’s name was kitten y.
That’s pretty serious abuse of power. They can definitely check records and confirm that this indeed happened. You should definitely get some action on this sooner rather than later.
People have been calling for the option to skip cutscenes since the Aetherblade dungeon way back when. No action.
Have you determined whether DH is truly dying or whether it’s the 7 weeks in a row of matching up with NSP (5 of which have been NSP dominating) causing a lull in WvW activity on DH?
I can certainly understand the frustration you feel and get that you might not feel it’s worth it to contribute.
I am one of those who feels it’s not worth it to contribute and it’s nice to see that at least one person at Anet recognizes that some people feel this way.
We’ve been through the suggestion/“put our thoughts into bullet points” phase multiple times already with nothing to show for it. The way I see it, this is yet another round of the same. Why should we expect any different? The time to give Anet the benefit of the doubt has long passed.

Source? Or did you make it up?
Anyone who isn’t trying to be completely disingenuous would know that I’m not talking about an exact number. We know from many many games over a very long time that somwhere between 10-20% of the player base ever visit the forums. The fact is so well known and been said so many times in so many places that I didn’t really think I needed to spell it out.
But I can if you haven’t heard it before. Most people who play games just play games. An overwhelming majority. They don’t visit forums. They don’t visit build sites. They don’t even visit Dulfy or the wiki.
We’re the small under 20%. You don’t have to believe it. But that’s what it is. Most people buy a game, play it and don’t think very deeply about the experience.
Ahum…starting to push the credulity barrier a bit there. If you got the stats to back up that claim would love to see em.
He basically said that he made it up.
It’ll help with soloing. But necro’s true problem in a party is lack of support.

- make Lupi’s projectiles unreflectable.
- make Lupi use all his skills independent of player position.
I’m sorry if I sound rude I know you were talking about Anet view on things, but those 2 changes would make lupicus unbearable, annoying and boring. I’m ok with nerfing or even removing damage from reflects (some monster/bosses get 0 damage from their reflected projectiles), but removing every possible projectiles in the game won’t make it better, it will make it worst by rendering a nice mechanic useless.
Making lupicus use any skill independent of player position is also a bad change, position awareness is a nice addition to GW2, I don’t mind if boss don’t LoS, but knowing where to stand on a boss add a little dept to the combat, a good example is when you are doing a high level fractal, you are fighting mossman and someone with the aggro just circle around him, cleaving everyone in the party, instead of using active defenses to mitigate the hits.
Oh I agree…
… I’m just giving examples of changes that Anet seems capable of, or willing to implement (see: Malrona and Spider Queen). Major overhauls aren’t going to happen: Anet has already come out and said exactly that.
As for the Lupi changes I listed as examples: I’m predicting at least one of those two will (unfortunately) come in a future patch.
… in your announcements. You’re overusing it.
Way too much work.
This is Anet here, I think they’re looking for simple stuff. Some random examples:
- add a skill fact to Spider Queen’s description.
- make Lupi’s projectiles unreflectable.
- make Lupi use all his skills independent of player position.
- make Aetherpath’s cutscenes skippable.
- It’ll kill communities, which will drive away all the people who are still around only because of “server pride.” IMO that’s actually a lot of people — particularly those in the lower tiers. (See how lack of server pride has left EoTM as a complete failure).
- At best, all it’ll do is slow down the inevitable demise of WvW. Total and complete lack of support for WvW is the true problem.
eotm is instanced style, it’s not the same as merging servers. you will still have your pride
Yes. But I suspect a lot of people will simply not stick around if their server is euthanized and just quit the game more or less immediately.
Is it even possible for one person to buy 2 million of something (at 250 per click max, no?) without a macro?

Considering how fruitful the past CDI’s have been. I’m really happy it’s back.
New Traits and Skills would be great, but we also need new dungeons where we can use them.
They’ve already said that there wouldn’t be any more new dungeons.
So griefing people, which the OP has admitted to doing, is ok? (Not only that, it appears he has griefed innocent people.)
I’m pretty sure the 4 week duration is because they have a 4 week content gap. Not because they feel it’s better for WvW.
No. Don’t leave…. wait…
A dev will soon appear and ask for suggestions and comments! Just put it in easy to read bullets: they’ll look into it and have discussions! Promise!
Exciting™ things are yet to come! Even more exciting™ than colored commander tags! For sure!
Something that would help is if you could gather a thread for each dungeon (perhaps you’ve all already created one per dungeon?), and list out the major changes that you feel the dungeons would need to make them better, in concise bullet points. That way it’s easier for us to provide them to the development team.
Every time there’s a public outcry about something, this is what Anet asks for. People are foolish enough to oblige. It cools them off because they think Anet is finally listening. And Anet gets away with doing nothing.
For example, see WvW forum: this has happened several times there already.
We just need new content. After season 2, just scrap Living Story, put it on hiatus, or decrease it to monthly/every other month.
Scrapping the LS won’t work. Their dev team, for whatever reason, is incapable of creating more than a tiny tibit of content per year.
The LS works because the massive item grind (Mawdrey, for example) gives illusion of content and helps cover up the fact that we’re only getting miniscule map extensions
eachthe occasional chapter.A similar item hunt in Guild Wars 1 was an absolute success and no one complained.
I haven’t finished it in GW2 yet (selling food for gold), but it’s fun as well. I don’t see the issue to be honest.
The Living Story itself is fun. It’s just not expansion-level content and we run out of things to do too fast. It’s not repeatable content really so no point in doing it daily or anything like that.
I want new dungeons, maps, etc (I want an expansion) because I want new content to do. That doesn’t mean Living Story is awful, it’s just too slow unfortunately and I’d rather get a whole bunch of content at once.
IMO, LS is awful, but that’s not the point.
The point is that LS is all that Anet’s capable of doing: small amounts of content with lots of grind to hide the fact that there’s small amounts of content.
You simply can’t do that with a dungeon unless you’re satisfied with a three room map with dredge clown cars in each room.
Combine Anet’s inability to create real content with the fact that someone at the top of Anet’s food chain is in love with LS and it’s pretty clear there isn’t gonna be anything but LS in the foreseeable future.

Vayne and his obsession with the word “promise” again.
Frankly, I’m amazed people even dredge up these old promises as if they weren’t more than hype to keep people strung along. You all show know by now.
People are just fed up with Skyhammer. They no longer wish to play it, regardless of the hit on their rating. Anet should probably take notice, but won’t.
Yes thats exactly why were mad! lmao.. we cant beat this server,, were outmanned and we have been for the 7 weeks.
Actually, DH won the first two weeks it met NSP. Please come out in numbers this week. NSP doesn’t like mismatches either.
Let’s see. They’ve created 9 new skills (1 heal for each profession + toxic heal) and 40 new traits (5 for each profession) in 2 years. Each profession has 80 traits (including minor ones).
So: they’ll have enough traits for a new profession in a couple years, and enough skills in maybe 4-5 years?
If you want the Devs to see your feedback…

Community Special Operations
Hey everybody,
For your feedback, please feel free to open a new thread (for each profession previewed) in the profession balance subforum after the preview and I’ll make sure the balance team knows where to find it.
They are asking for your feedback there^ for possible changes. Good luck.
You’re deluded if you think they’re even gonna consider changing it this close to the patch date.
As far as I know:
- Wasn’t remotely a problem in PvE.
- Wasn’t used in sPvP.
- Used in WvW. But it wasn’t a serious issue (eles were very vulnerable while in nado form) .. and there was no outcry for a nerf.
So why nerf it?
Thanks everyone for giving us some feedback on this system we’ll meet internally and discuss this system some more as I think there are a lot of valid points being brought up here.
- The good news: It only took 4 months to realize there’s a issue that should be discussed.
- The bad news: This is confirmation that they haven’t even started working on the problem. There’s no chance it’ll be fixed for the feature pack. (So expect a fix perhaps April 2015?)
Make it less like skyhammer.
This. The overall design is just awful.
They obviously are giving the minimum number of colors for free necessary to relieve the community outrage.
They’ll almost certainly sell additional colors (300g per color) in the future when they feel things have calmed down.
When a gaming company calls colored commander tags “big changes,” it’s pretty obvious what the problem is.
BIG CHANGES TO COMMANDER SYSTEM ?
Big changes ?! Really ?!
I guess compared to the WvW support they usually supply (none), this is a big change. Of couse, in absolute terms it’s laughably miniscule. Keep your expectations low, I guess.
That it takes an ENORMOUS outpouring of rage to get anything positive for WvW is ridiculous (see also: Anet dev griefing GvG).
They should have done it right the first time — instead of attempting a blatant and egregious money grab.
You can say whenever you want when you hold all the statistics and don’t release them.
And all it took as MASSIVE explosion of anger from pretty much every WvW player. Just like the last time with the dev griefing the GvG. Seems this is the only way WvW gets any dev attention.
I predict:
- New mimic will be OP (perhaps too low a recharge?)
- Anet will nerf around it and destroy several other skills to “fix” the problem.
- Mesmers will end up with fewer good skills overall.
I would be highly worried when all the critical threads stop – that means that people have given up any hope that the game will improve, and have moved on to another game.
A good example is the dungeons forum. If you’ve followed that forum for a while, you’ll have noticed that it’s really static now compared to the past. For example, you rarely see threads suggesting dungeon improvements these days.
I actually like Mimic as it is. Great for soloing dungeons.
Considering how few skills each profession has, why change Mimic to do something so similar to Arcane Thievery?
Will the dagger cleave come with a damage nerf?
Oh well they did specifically say tone down so I assume it will simply be a reduction in damage of fiery rush and it may still out-DPS anything else making FGS still worth taking.
When Anet nerfs a skill, they usually nerf so hard it’s never used again.
There has been extremely few dungeon changes for two years: so a large percentage of people just want to do their daily dungeon runs as fast as possible and get them over with. Best keep that in mind when looking for a group.
Here’s a guess that fits with a lot of Anet’s behavior:
Someone at or near the top of Anet’s hierarchy has tunnel vision and judges success or failure using metrics from (only) the LS. Those who wish to keep their jobs have incentive to pump up LS metrics as high as possible, regardless of how it affects the game. One easy way to do this: do not work on or release content that are not LS related.
Who in their right minds would be satisfied with the dungeon/fractal content in this game? Fact is, Anet has orphaned dungeons, fractals, guild missions, WvW. They only care for sPvP (inexplicably, considering its total fail) and LS.
At least there’s still some excitement when it comes to fractals: “Will my pug group screw up with the hammer and make us restart the entire fractal?” It puts me at the edge of my seat.
