For wvw I have 4 characters all in full ascended, fully infused and I use the expensive foods and utilities. I run meta builds from metabattle and a few I modified from the meta slightly.

aren’t you the same guy that few days ago claimed that sPvP builds with condi cleases slapped on rocks for roaming?

at this point I’d liek to ask from which section of metabattle your “meta builds” are.

as fro blasting fields – they still do when it makes sense – but to actualy see this kind of behaviour you’d need to be, ya know in organised group with voice comms – because command to blast fields goes there – you can’t realistically relay it fast enought via text chat….

yah roamers use OP builds that are broken, they are basically spvp builds that are off the rails because they dont have to worry about holding a point. They use stats that are banned in spvp, and skills that would be useless in spvp but are useful in open world where there is no objective, other then to survive for ever and reset the fight when they please.

The section i get my builds from on metabattle is the wvw section.

Back to the topic, believe it or not even w/out voicecoms i can see the commanders health and i also have played in zergs quite a lot so I have a good feel for how the battle is going to go, and i can also see the fields that are going down so i can emulate them with my own fields and blast them as well, without being on TS. Aside from that I can and have got on teamspeak whenever I feel like it, so thats not really an issue. The point is that if people arent let into squads for whatever reason, they should have the same benefits of being in a squad, or anet should just get rid of squads entirely for wvw.

The way the system is based, its going to lead to a lot of people being excluded for (insert reason here). Honest, I get a lot of PM’s daily from PvEr’s who read my threads about excluding from squads in general, and they are really upset, and have experienced the same thing. They cant participate in squads for a myriad of reasons and they want to play wvw, but don’t feel like they are part of the team due to wvw vets requiring everyone to conform. They say they very much want to play but feel constantly excluded, which is just plain wrong. Id say anet has a larger problem on their hands then they think.

So this issue doesn’t just affect me sorry to say. Ive talked to quite a few pvers who simply give up on wvw and refuse to go into it SPECIFICALLY because of this issue. So the ball is really in the wvw communities court, and they say they want new players on one hand and then on the other try to exclude players at every turn, as does the games mechanics which rewards those not in squad with less.

I think I need to share this post with my guildmates, this amount of good laught is too much for me to just keep it to myself

I think our commanders will have especially good laught at the fields part XD

PS. if you tag around an organized zerg without beign plugged in to their voice you will be to busy trying to follow the commander and trying to figure out what he is intending to do next, and there is no way for you to actually see those fields in all the visual clutter asisting big clashes – not to mention to actually be able to tell them apart and drop another proper one to not screw people out by coverign their field with different one [although tandoms tagging around with zergs droppign random fields in random moments could be a reason why commanders are using those combos less than they used to in the past]

PPS. you do not need to be able to actually talk on those voice comms – just to be able to hear what commander is saying is all you need so argument about people being “exclusive” just to “few chosen ones” basing on TS requirement is unfair and untrue – and if you can’t afford having ts running in so you can hear commander then I’d say that it’s just zerging that is not for you – but hey there is still plenty of roles on the field you can perform without participating in organised zergs [also there are plenty of open squads organised specially for amassing “lone” people (at least on my server link) – sure efficiency of those will be much lower then properly organised groups, but it’s not like they didn’t exist]

PPPS. as for taggign and squads – last time I checked there was no system in place to prioritise any squads over anyone else when “tagging” enemies for loot is involved – you’ve hit the guy enought, you are eligible for exp and loot.

Where is this from?

I know it’s fake, but I get nervous when they mention WvW.

as far as I have understood they grabbed HoT announcement footage and all recordings of everything those guys said ever, and cut-pasted it word by word with some notable exceptions of actuall phrases being used. as far as I can tell they could even get WvW parts from core game launch stuff.

if you look on the map to look where the dragon lair is and you compare it with old maps you will see that just by the merit of balthazar going after dragon we should get gw1 crystal desert, desolation [aka full crystal desert] and a healthy chunk of vabbi

don’t be mislead by river elon being in wrogn place :P

Wasn’t it stated in lore that the River of Elon was redirected by Joko ? So of course its going to be in the wrong place after all of this time …

it was indeed, and thats why I was warning to not be mislead by it’s new location when judging where we go and where we do not go in expac

Yes, it now flows into the Crystal Desert instead of into Vabbi – it’s how Joko conquered Vabbi, by starving them into submission. This is explained in the Movement of the World that I linked above.

Well from what I recall it was little bit more complicated – the draught created by sudden lack of main river has lead to a number of revolts and riots against sunspears which have weakened them to the point of being no real contester against joko’s undead armies which have led to him having easy time conquering all of it at later date.

as for sunspers, ironically movement of the world implied [in my understanding] that the hunting down of the sunspears is a finished thing – that at this point if there are any sunspears left it would be just a few lone surivors scattered and hiding around.

and then overally alot of stuff around this release now heavilly suggests that there will be region in the expansion where sunspears have actuall presence, with all the chain of command and structure preserved – and this makes me curious tbh what and where it will be

ok firstly I’d like to point out that triumphant armor exists only in exotic variability dropped from reward track, I’ll assume you have meant triumphant hero’s armor in your post.

as far as I know both variants [exotic and ascended] of triumphant hero’s armor counts to unlock mistforged triumphant hero’s pieces which exchange grandmasters marks for WXP rank requirement.

the way I see it atm exotic variant exists only to cut down some costs while aiming for mistforged triumphants hero [which is shinier variant of the set]

I like it! Can’t understand who would claim vets hate it. Also don’t really believe that disabling gliding in combat would be an improvement. Anyone who wants to run away from a fight will do anyway, they’ll run a build with that goal specifically in mind, and it gives a bit of a mobility advantage to being on the defensive.

ppl can glide away while losing a fight , glide into a tower , and i HOPE they dont put mount in wvw , that would mean all they have to do is jump over the wall

again unsupported claim for generalisation – I love it and I’d bet my money that my first entry to the mists predates your by a solid margin

I just can’t imagine a 15-20 man group surviving a 50man bomb.

spread out and avoid their AoEs while throwing CC at them, just like – you know – it was being done before the cap was introduced

but then I am not really sure if it would be within realms of possibility for AN to rollback the biggest bal;anciong change they’ve made after so many years [and alot of stuff would have to be nerfed a heckload to compensate for new targets….

yet Rome is still Rome, and quite alot actually of cities dating back to the roman empire remain their names.

Rome is a city, and though its rulership changed, the city remains to this day.

and yet there are also examples of cities beign renamed as soon and now owner capture them….. but then ok City of Rome was weak counterpart – would have to look up how romans have called pannisula itself to continue on this one.

the political entity would took probably different name – with within the old world people would still refer to it as a “Land of the Rising Sun” – because that name did not came straightly out of japanese people but more from the act that if you center the map around the “old world” [europe] japanese is the place furthest east so the poetry started going on how the sun rise there

I am fairly certain the term predates when western cultures began communicating with Japan.

It’s got little to do with location.

the only “name” for japan that would predate first contacts with outside civilisations would be “Land of cherry blossoms” [pretty stuff ]

Fahranur for example belongs to previous civilisation – and while Fahranur empire fell, there re sources in game [gwn] implying that “fahranurian” already called the land elona [at least it’s continental part]

Fahranur was not a previous civilization, it was no empire. It was a city, nothing else.

Fahranur was a city in the Elonian empire ruled by the Primeval Kings. When they founded their empire that at first consisted of only what became called Istan and Kourna, they dubbed it “Elona”.

Fahranur was a city belonging to “previous civilisation” which later have flourished into empire – excavations there are(were?) made in a similar manner as we would do if we have found somewhere well preserved remains of karthage or other ancient city

Regarding Orr – that’s because the Orrian kingdom is all that was and is there. Even destroyed, it is where the kingdom of Orr was. We’re not calling the land Orr, but rather the kingdom that was in that land Orr. It’s the same reason we talk about the land around Pompeii as Pompeii and not some new land – because a new city has not been built over it, so it is still the ruins of Pompeii; similarly, it’s still the ruins of Orr (hence the region’s name being Ruins of Orr and not just “Orr” – Orr is the name of the kingdom located on that peninsula and people refer to that peninsula as Orr because they’re referring to the land of the once kingdom which has not yet been replaced).

well I suppose elder dragon and undead empire is “nothing”

also – there are ruins of previous civilisations with ‘nothing’ [undead] taking a hold over it and this chunk of land is not called “ruins of …..” but instead they call it desolation…. [go figure]

Despite being in the mechanical region of Kryta, Bloodtide Coast is never once called “Kryta”. Same with Southsun Cove.

because it’s a part of geographical region of kryta and all “spoken” uses of the name are in regard to the kingdom who have lost it’s reign over those lands long time ago

Why 300 range on guard Staff 1 now?

except no one I’d know ever claiemd dual daggers on ele as “melee” – all of people I know that are talkign about it are refering to it as “short range weapon” – which is not the same.

I’m not sure any of this is relevant, staff is not and has never been a melee weapon.. What this change has done is render it completely ineffective as a weapon at all which means guards who have to run it are gimping themselves.

guy above claimed it to be melee so I answered that.

and then I frankly still disagree about staff getting “completely inneffective as a weapon at all” – it is no longer ultimate lootstick but that would be it – in zerg fights you will still be tagging most of guys, easier than any melee guy for as long as you do not get caught into situation when the dps goes from “range only” – but in those cases even with 600 range you would not be able to reach assumed targets with staff AA.

and then again – even in zerg or maybe especially in organised zerg you are not supposed to fill all the possible roles at once with one class – support specced guardians are not supposed to effortlessly outdps, dps oriented frontliners just by the merit of having so much range advantage over melees.

[especially when commanders does not distinguish guads from other heavies – in all organised groups I have seen the only command directed to specifically giardians would be “stability 1”, “stability 2” and “purge on me” [last one can be also directed to more classes as I am not exacly sure atm how much AoE purges are there in those setups… revies perhaps?] in all other cases – especially in regard to movements it’s just overal “heavies” – so “in theory” guardians are supposed to stick in same group as melee warriors and revies in which case even if the staff was actually reduced to melee range on AA they would not be loosing alot in comparision to other classes in “the bracket”

PoF Boon Hate = Corruption Starved?

I didn’t do the math myself but I think that “boonbots” can sustain their boon output, while for what I see spellbreaker seems to work in a more of spiky nature – it can cascade out alot of boon strips but if it is supposed to strip enought of them to actually not leave anything to the necros to corrupt, then I’m quite sure all cd’s would be burned meaning that there will be a nifty window when boon guys can deploy their boons while spellbreakers are still on CDs

Some won’t work for engine reasons (removing target cap)

I’ll go in here and point out that there is no engine reason preventing removal of target cap because at launch there was no target cap on AoEs – it was introduces long after the launch to cull Elementalists supremacy in every content ever.
[I think you can still look up old WvW vids of 4 elementalists wrecking zergs by luring them into proper chokepoint and cycling static fields and meteor showers between themselves]

[also additional note is that there was common suggestion also back then to just nerf ele by lowerign damage per target on it’s AoEs instead of introducing the cap]

If Elona the nation falls and a new nation is there, then the land which is currently called Elona will be called something else.

Same way that once upon a time, we called the peninsula shaped like a boot “the Roman Empire” and not “Italy”.

also – “The Roman Empire” was not the name of the pennisula – it was a name of state that have occupied it – as for how romans called the pennisula from geographical standpoint – I do not know how they did call it – if you have some credible sources on that one – be my guest and share it – but do not bring a political names to try to counterpoint geographical name

Being called “Land of the Golden Sun” does not mean Elona is more than a nation. Japan is called “Land of the Rising Sun” but it is a nation, should Japan fall and a new nation rise, then it will take on a new name and a new moniker that replaces that phrase.

similar to elona – tropical/desert-ish climate of the region goes into poetical “golden sun”

Elona is not a landscape, like the Siberian Peninsula or the Rocky Mountains or the Sahara Desert. It is a nation. And like all nations, its borders can expand, contract, and be eliminated all together. Elona consists of landscapes called Jahai Bluffs, Vehtendi Valley, Issnur Isles, and now the Desolation and now reaches into the Crystal Desert. But it is not a landscape.

expect the name does ALSO [not only] refer to this part of continent and actually for all the sources I recall the name actually predates this specific civilisation and dates at least as far back as when crystal desert was crystal sea.

The same goes for Kryta, Ascalon, Deldrimor (which is now non-existent), the Canthan Empire, etc. Technically speaking, the land we call “Ascalon” in GW2 shouldn’t be called such – the only reason it is, is because the charr have adopted the name for their conquered lands. If they didn’t, we could be calling Charrnotopia, and the borders of Ascalon would be within the Fields of Ruin map.

Kryta as as geographical theory didn’t shift much – Kryta as a kindgom did shifted it’s borders – but there are still pieces of land obviously outside of the borders of kryta that are officially labeled to belong into “kryta” region.

Canthan empire is a political entity of currently unknown content – but Cantha is specifically a continent far south. also question about ascalon arises of who actually called it first – there are few lines in GWP, GWEotN, and GW2 suggesting that “ascalon” could be a name also predating human kingdom in there.

also – Orr kittenula – Orian nation is gone, replaced with risen – and yet still everyone calls it Orr – not RisenLand Risenotopia, Zhaitan kingdom – no, no “name change” was issues to this region due to the shift of the nation living ontop of it. which seems be a little concept you either ignore, are fail to grasp. Geographical names are not always specifically tied to a civilisation, althought oftenly nations living on the land call the land after themselves or takes the earlier established geographical names and take them upon themselves. and trying to pull out political entities to disproof geographical names is a miss.

Where are the new WvW content?

They have had 2 different attempts at a GvG arena, both failed for obvious reasons. The main one is they were too small. The guild hall PvP area was a good idea, but badly implemented, you couldn’t get two teams of 10 fighting a battle there let alone 50.

I’ll just leave here a pointer that back in original games guidl battles were fought in 8v8 format……

Why 300 range on guard Staff 1 now?

Because ‘you can hit through walls and gates’.

Why is this an issue now? After 5 years. All aoes can hit through gaates anyway, why is it an issue for guardians?

Exactly what I was wondering, condi engineers with flame throwers are much more effective and can hit through gates too, does this mean the flame thrower is going to be a melee weapon too?

except guardy’s staff is not melee wepon due to still having over a twice as much range as actuall melees [300 vs 130]

and guardian with this nerfed staff can still quite effortlessly outtag any melee class.

300 is essentially ‘melee with reach’ range. Elementalist dagger has 300 on its shortest-ranged autoattack, and people don’t pretend that’s a ranged weapon. Sure, it means that if you’re good at kiting you can theoretically sit just outside of melee range and hit them while they can’t hit you back – however, most ‘melee’ characters will either be able to hit you anyway or quickly close the distance at that range (often both).

For most intents and purposes, 300 is melee. Melee with a polearm* rather than melee with a sword, perhaps, but melee nonetheless.

  • Yes, I know GW2 doesn’t have polearms, but the analogy gets the point across.

and actually it is not much easier to close the difference between 300 and 600 if the outranging guy knows his things

300 vs 1200? yeah there is some difference here – but then again most of skills to open the distance already works on the ranges of 600(+) and quite afwully lot of usable close-ins too.

bonus points for the place where guardian stuff is mostly used [and where it’s advantage over factuall melee weapons stil l shows up most] – zerg fights – there isn’t actually much telling about closing or opening distances anyway – you stick to your tag – if you have range on enemies you are supposed to attack – good for you – you don’t? well sucks to be you

@Lord Trejgon.2809: The Desolation is part of the Crystal Desert, so the nation of Elona is not south of the Crystal Desert, but south of the Crystal Oasis area. It contains part of the Crystal Desert (mainly The Desolation and possibly more, depending on what the next map south contains).

well being nitpicky here I’d not really count deso as a part of elona tho
it’s southern part of crystal desert, elonian provinces are south from it

[but then I’ll keep pressing you onto <and lookingup all evidences possible> using it as a geographical term as long as you will press on using it as purely national term – you could ofc agree to thing I think I have once already suggested aka going with india analogue from real word when single word is used to describe both more-or-less strict geographical place and the nation occupying but not limiting itself to it – it’ up to you

and for the manual quote – I’ll repeat the in-game quote “Elona, Land of the Golden Sun” – I think we all woudl agree here that in-game lore should be put on higher regard than out-of-game attachments so…. there isn;t really more sensible solution than to agree that it means both place and nation originating from that place and stop telling people that it’s not place but nation <and go on with "it’s not only place but also a nation?> ]

EDIT: althougth trying to correctly precise what geographically should and shouldn’t count as elona “in current time” is majorly screwed by the fact that quite and important geographical “hint” – elon river – was redirected from the land that would fall in as "elona"by the old standards into crystal desert region that could be argued if belonged to the area in the first place…..

EDIT2: also the statement of “the nation of elona being south of the crystal oasis area” is not exacly precise too – there are alot of members of that nation quite far north from that border – even some people in modern kryta would claim to be still members of elonian nation [but to draw paralel to my rl example above – there are also alot of ethnical indian [modernly called hindi to cover up someone’s major screw up in realising where he was few centuries ago?] that are all over the world in many cases – literaly on the other side of the globe but still everyone with basic geographical knowledge would not have much issue finding indian pennisula on the map…..

Now, if the nation of Elona happens to consist only of Kourna, Istan and Vabbi, then there’s still room for your theory. But I don’t recall anywhere saying that Kourna or Vabbi were just provinces of a larger nation. I’m pretty sure each one of those three regions were independently ruled, for better or for worse.

well on this one konig is right tho – from the very beginning of any nightfall sources [in-game or out of the game] it’s pretty clearly stated that elona “country” is combined from istan, kourna and vabbi provinces [and they are always in the nightfall refered as “provinces”] there is one mission of main nightfall campaign that explains the whole thign very nice – forgot the name of the mission itself but it was just after blacktide den mission, and before war preparations – so after kournan dignitary gets killed in istan province land there was a special council called to determine consequences of the whole incident that was – if memory serves – consistign of representatives of istan and kourna provinces and I am atm not sure if there wasn’t few vabbi guys as a form of neutral “add in” to ensure that istan and kourna will sort it out nicely and fairly and for all my knowledge of things it would not look even remotely like that if those were fully independent states

Because ‘you can hit through walls and gates’.

Why is this an issue now? After 5 years. All aoes can hit through gaates anyway, why is it an issue for guardians?

Exactly what I was wondering, condi engineers with flame throwers are much more effective and can hit through gates too, does this mean the flame thrower is going to be a melee weapon too?

except guardy’s staff is not melee wepon due to still having over a twice as much range as actuall melees [300 vs 130]

and guardian with this nerfed staff can still quite effortlessly outtag any melee class.

Does it have to be the ardent glorious etc or just any ascended armor, because I got most of my ascended armor though pvp but I ended up changing alot of the stats so now its the original armor, I wouldve never changed them though if I knew we could upgrade them more

only the ones listed [ardent glorious and one other, but I’m not spending nearly enougth time in sPvP to remember proper two names] if you were swapping stats via mystic forge it does no longer count

I feel like most of the people applauding this change must play Ranger, Engineer, Mesmer, or Thief. They are just happy to see one of the core zerging professions get nerfed regardless of whether or not the change is good.

I main Thief and quit bringing it to zerg fights a long time ago. Get out there and try out some other professions instead of posting guardian hate. I’ve played all of them and each has there strengths and weaknesses.

If you favorite profession isn’t great in WvW it isn’t the fault of other players/professions, the developers should be creating more competitive elite specs.

at the moment being I do not feel like having a proper “main” but I could poitn out top 3 character classes by playtime for me:
Ranger/Druid, Guardian, Warrior

and as someone who did managed to hammer out zerg build for all 3(4?) of them at some point I do not think that the nerf to a range of support weapon as all that bad nerf.

but then also I had a staff build taht in zerg fights was proccing AoE fires on enemy zergs every second – considering it was in times when power was the meta and no one was really expecting condi guardian people were dying hilariously fast….

So before we go to fight the main fallen god antagonist, as an uncomfortable ally of Palawa Joko, we first have to defeat an Elonian woman driven mad by the influence of Abaddon? This sounds vaguely familiar.

I was thinking more in-line that after we kill one mad god antagonist with unconfortable ally of palawa joko AND the dragon, we proceed to go kill actuall main villain god being the soruce of all evil taht happened to tyriaa in last 250+ years :P

Not that stretchy, since we know that his will still exists but was merely “broken” thus no danger from him – broken things can be fixed.

Plus, there’s this little guy spouting out this interesting line:

While it’s dubious to trust these NPCs due to their name, it does give one some pause for thought.

in terms of game evolution and inovation gw2 would be in last place… it has nothing that other games havent in a way or another, in some GW2 is the worst…

I completely agree, I also play for fun AND rewards. The people who said it was ridiculous for the armor sets to take 2 years to get for newer players (myself included) were told that if all we wanted was rewards to get out of wvw forever. We were told we were entitled pvers… let’s just say it feels good to be on the other side of it and all those people have just proven themselves hypocrites…

how about buffing WvW playerbase technicall knowledge so they realsie hwo thing works and stop constantly crying for balancing devs/wvw devs to “fix” an issue that is beyond their power to even work for, nto to mention providing actuall “fix” and which issue can be solely solved by community changing their meta but no one seems to be eager to actually test things so everyone are brainlessly stickign to same stupid and not really all that efficient “meta”?

it wouldn’t sound like “typical excuse” if you realised how networking, servers and lags actually work….

and if you’ve put any more thought into actually researching issue yourself instead of blindly demanding fixes from random people.

so firstly – before people spammed crapload condis in 50+ blobs [and before they were allowed to stack them to such extend, lagging issues were sporadic – and you usually needed 80+person blob clashing with another one to generate it.

to give perspective – thats 80% of maximum allowed population per full map per two sides clashing in the wery same spot of the map.

so lags have surged out to be an issue – but again you can monitor when they happen and when they don’t – and surprise – they happen in the prime time, and only when big zergs are clashing – what is current zerg meta? condi meta – were 50 people zergs on power builds lagging that much in tha past? no they didn’t

so even if we are adamant about keeping condi meta because of our beloved OP-efficiency how about not amassing 50% of maps maximal population into one spot?

but zergs are efficient you say!

no they are actually in bigger picture not that much effective – sure you roflstomp every smaller/less organised force but:

A) by concentrating so much of your force into simgle spot you are leaving alot of the frontline left undefended – vulnerable to be attacked and captured by enemies

B) smaller groups when properly coordinated does not have hard time really to avoid encounter with a zerg – and wel lspreaded groups actually can share scouting much more efficiently!

but at this point you say – but you can’t avoid them when they go cap yout stuff – you need to defend it

and here goes point
C) fortifications in WvW while stripped from few very usefull functionalities of their historical/realistical counterparts still provides alot of counterplay specifically against zergs – if they want to coem in they are bound to stop – at least to build sieges – and walls provides quite and effective protection for as long as they are not destroyed [or gate gets breached] so you have a big chunk of people stacked onto of comamder under your gates with rams let’s say – what does average commande of the defence in current zerging meta do? leads out his brave men for a zerg clash – and we gat back to numbers game.

that they could do otherwise that they are not doing?
make an inteligent use of protection given by a walls, and of awesome tools given us by devs – and at a few point specially buffed to perform well at such situations – your own siege machines

when you actually inteligently use these you can hold enemies at the gates with much, MUCH inferior forces in terms of numbers than the ones at your gates – and while they foolishly expend 80% of their map population trying to take that objective from you, your well spreaded much more balanced forces can at the same time capture alot of their objectives giving your world an edge in positioning, supplies and – very importanlty too – war score

which leads to winning
but somehow no one seems to give it a proper try………. <unarticulated sound of frustration about the world>

and on a bonus point such approach would limit amounts of players clashing at the same point of time which would alleviate your lag issues – which may be sort of reason why AN tried at so many ocasions encourage us to actually split those blobs and do our wars as normal, sane people who knows at least basics of strategy…..

Amazing how many _ people there are here. Either that or you’re just trolling.

The staff’s auto attack IS it’s main dps. It doesn’t have any burst dps like the hammer or GS. It’s auto attack’s damage is much lower than every weapon, for a reason! Because it’s essentially an aoe weapon limited to a cone in front of the guardian. It depends on hitting 5 people to make up for it’s lackluster dps. THAT’S THE WHOLE POINT!

Let me put this in another way as I don’t think people understand just how much of a nerf this is. While the range has been cut in half, it’s effectiveness has been nerfed way more than that. At 600 unit range with a 170 degree ark, it covered an area of 534,000 units. Cut the range in half, it will now cover an area of 134,000 units. That translates to a 75% reduction in area! That’s insane!

Also, the auto attack was great for proccing your justice burns and was essential to an AH/EM sustain build as you would statistically always crit granting might to you and your allies giving you about 400 in heals / sec. That’s now out the window.

Anet just made this a completely broken weapon and any build centered around it. If they didn’t like the range, and decide to keep this, then they need to make it 360 degrees. That still won’t equal the area it was before, but it won’t be as bad.

You’re trying to make points as if this were a damage dealing weapon kit. It is not. It is support.

Mace / shield is also support, but does a lot more damage. The point is, kitten many are failing to understand, is that the sub-par damage of the staff is made up for by hitting 5 people and having a big aoe

Mace/Shield also does not dish nearly even close as much boons and support as staff did in the past and still do in a present

The scepter and longbow aren’t good ranged alternatives since they can be reflected.

welcome to the world of every ranged ranged profession that does not happen to be a spellcaster…. [and then I’m kidna sure alot of ranged options of spellcasters can be reflected too

Revert Ticket Cap "Bug" Fix

Say someone reached diamond 3 days into the week. Now they have about 4 more days left.. usually in those 4 days you won’t see them in WvW because they know they won’t be earning tickets until the next reset. With repeatable tickets in place, they would still play those 4 remaining days for the week. Otherwise WvW will just feel dead half way through the week like it has been.

there are also people like who whom because of “reasons” wants to get all dem skirmish chests possiburu!

as for whether the cap is good or not – hard to say, I do not think I have a formulated opinion on this matter just yet

I LOVE THE GLIDING!!! It’s been a Game Changer for me. I love the added tactical aspects and roaming has taken on a new sense of wonder. It’s a shame gliding wasn’t added when desert bl was introduced. We wouldn’t have had nearly as much whining about it.

I plan on doing it the “quick” way :P

personaly I found it on wiki, but I have no idea where wiki got it from

the gift of battle has the recipe in the text of it now, they updated it:
“Used to create the Gifts. Combine with 15 Mystic Clovers, Gift of Condensed Might, and Gift of Condensed Magic in the Mystic Forge to create the Gift of War Prosperity.”

Guard staff 1 is obviously too powerful in severe lag situations where the only skill anyone can use is skill 1. It had to be nerfed.

How about nerfing the lag then, instead of further kittening up the game?

I must say that after testing it out I say the uproar against gliding seems be be there just for the sake of complaining about thing

and then nothing more funny to see a zerg gliding of the cliff througth the territory border only to get kicked out of the gliders and fall to their deaths because they were gliding out of their terrain ^-^

Roaming: Who, what, why, how? #Discussion

Honestly roaming is pretty easy, even in 1v1’s all you have to do is take a meta spvp build, tweak it to take a ton of escapes/leaps/stealth anything that lets you engage in combat and retreat from it at will. Then take SPvP stats that have been banned. Get full ascended in those stats, food + utility. Then proceed to gank players or do 1v1 and if you make a few mistakes, you just reset the fight an infinite number of times. (unlike spvp where if you dont cap and hold a node you lose, with this type of play you can do whatever).

Wow, you just delved into every roamers minds and pinpointed what they do with a blanket description.

Thats what “starter” roamers may do. I can guarantee that real roamers dont just take pvp builds, add ways to escape and voila. Good roamers know this doesn’t work as often as you portray.

These are the roamers that are generally easy bags to any semi decent roamer (There are some that I have encountered that were skilled fighters using pvp builds, however 90%+ ended up beat. Not only by me, but by others)

I disagree because I go into wvw with a hybrid spvp build, modified sometimes for zvz if I’m in the zerg. Using full ascended pve zerker stats and I’m usually able to kill or run from 70-80% of most pro roamers. I play like this as dragonhunter, hammer rev, druid and necro. When I do kill them it’s because my bursts catches them off guard, because they are using Maurader or sometimes celestial stats. I time my dodge rolls from spvp training so there attacks don’t hit me and I kill them faster then they kill me.

The ones I run from and don’t bother with are the ones in full soldier/sentinel stats where I do zero damage to them and they wait for me to run out of skills to use before they very slowly kill me (of course by using overpowered stats that stack vit + tough. The reason I play like this is because I’m too cheap to change all my pve gear from zerk to maurader for roaming, and if you’re good, zerk is better for backline zvz play. I also find that zerk gear is more then enough to deal with most roamers.

Out of those 4 classes you play, really only 1 poses any threat to a “pro roamer” so if you are beating them, then they are probably not “pro” (granted there may be some fights you may win, however any “pro roamer” would win the majority)

Maybe its the tiers that I have been in, however those roamers that run PvP builds are the ones that usually get beat. Also good roamers (again, may just be my tier(s)) tend to lean toward DPS over soldier like stats as hitting like a wet noodle does little when roaming, unless you are running a troll build)

from what I have managed to get by askign pople I’ve got into while roaming in my totally-unfit-warrior baseline for roamers gear would be dire/traiblazer for condis [against which everyone complains] and marauder for power builds, but then as long as there is no blob lagging whole map somewhere those fights end really fast – with people I have been fighting along rarely loosing

My immediate reaction is that the rather large building west of the splotch is the Holdings of Chokin, Prince Bokka’s old place. That would put the southern Dragonbrand streak north and just east of the old Vabbi maps.

We’ll see once that_shaman finishes the updated legacy map!

I thinks these are gardens of sebolkhin, and I think WP mantined that name in his vid about the new map

which would put the dragon supposed lair nearly right ontop of mirror of lyss

could have made sense considering the fact that he was after all somewhat wounded after the fight with DE and considering the fact that mirror of lyss was strongly magical place…
