WvW troll guild? Sure! Let’s line golems up in front of the spawn area to prevent anyone from getting through! That’s a great idea for WvW server sabotage!

well in wvw with exception for spawning area and its surroundings (but only for allied passing through) imo it would only help – you see what ruins currently wvw are stacked zergs – without them able to stack many good things will come back

in case opf trolling there can be multiple things implemented to prevent that – f.e. you could be able to dodge through allies (and that would even make sense in some way – lets say ally is making place for you seeing you want to dodge sth dangerous)

someone mention guardians with their “you shall not pass” line? last time I checked stability let you pass throught it pretty easilly – and also bodyblocking mechanics would actually bring back actuall TACTICS to tacticaly-strategical game mode that is WvW

I’d vote with my both hands for it

You think you have lag now? You’d get like 1 frame a second.

actually I do not think I have any kind of lag now :P

good ping stable 30 fps and not a single issue from the whole family of what people sums up as a “lag” :P

Lack speed (Mesmer/Thief/Guardian) for teleports (warrior/elementalist/thief) for movement speed

tbh I find ranger far more mobile than guardian – I mean in averaged scenario.
the only way guardy could outrun decently build ranger was if he could somehow sustain perma swift… ah righ ranger has that capability on few builds already….

ofc I’m not talking about perfect case scenario for guardian when he is suplied with enought targets at perfect ranges – because its hard to outrun teleporting around…..
and only ground targeted teleport I’m aware of has too short cooldown for ranger to not be able to make up for said teleport….

not mentioning comparision to warrior….

Lack sustainability (necromancer/guardian/warrior/Mesmer/thief) for 2nd health bars, large heals, fair number of blocks and evasions/decoy spam

I’d also argue about lack of sustainability especially if you consider thief having one (sustainability I mean) its really easy to make a build for ranger that will have more regeneration that anyone will ever need with few really nice heals at disposal… also we have evasions on both swords and even dagger where gs also fields block – we also have utilities for evades/damage mitigation like lightning reflexes (evade) and signet of stone (damage mitigation) – we even have a 3seconds stealth on longbow ^^

Lack cc (… list getting too long to continue doing this)

I agree that we barely have any CC when compared to CC-focused builds of other clases

I’ll for sure agree that we lacks team utility – but I’m not so sure about utility overal…

Hopefully the druid can be something on par or above the meta currently… Not much hope for that… but we can still dream cant we?

well lets start with noticing that “current meta” is pretty braindead one and as long as you don;t want to beat records of how fast one can speedrun specific dungeons rangers when operated skillfully can already stand on same level if not even higher when compared to majority of metazerk players. I personally hope that druid will have really interesting mechanics with many enjoyable skills while filling both of most painfull gaps of the class – AoE and team support

[PS. although I don’t want druid to be anything even remotely close to insane-mega-op-must-have-thing – because then everybody will try to run it and I dont like the folks playing my fav class only because of how op it is…..]

Marksmanship - Lead the wind?

When I grab longbow I use lead the wind – maybe its sth wrong with me but after playing it this way so long the atack speed missile speed feels way too slow without that perk….

when I don’t grab longbow I usually also do not grab marksmanship specialisation….

well remorseless is probably a good trait but I just prefer to dish out as much from my bow as possible

well, when you combine that with some other skilsl it means that both of you were pretty hard to kill – imo symbioting bond was must have skill for any beastmaster back at gw1 because without it your pet were just too squishy – and you always had a loads of ways to heal yourself while only a phew for pet (when I was runnign beastmaster I always combined heal as one with symbiotic bond and sometimes added trolls unguent – with proper rest of the build it were really hard to kill us both

What makes you think a quite small guild will get any use out of wvw upgrades in the new system? Claim priority scales based on the number of players representing a guild when an objective is taken. I don’t know what your server is like, but on mine it’s pretty much a given that a guild of less than 20 people wouldn’t really ever get claim priority.

Your server may be different though.

if he consider 20 ppl “small” wvw guild then he’s right – when you get 20 people and go to wvw under single banner there are more than plenty of objectives you can claim with those 20 people alone – and then having those upgrades is a must – but then you also have got a point in case of new system – there is a big chunk of possibility that currently employed tactics with guild running all boosts and claiming everything on the run so people can grab more supplies for taking nex objective may cease to exist….

no more long range weapons please. keep us in buff range ~600 and support or AOE damage. Even control+dmg would be nice but no more single target stuff, rangers too focused on single target dps we need more AOE fields.

why it can’t have both?

also – we already have 600 range buffing aoe staff out there – its called guardian staff

I deffo don’t want copied guardian stuff in more “rangerish” edition as druid stuff – I want sth that is not there yet

Point is, in a WVW focused guild you HAVE TO HAVE WvW upgrades going which is possible and doable within the current system of influence.

But to our understanding, after HOT launches, we will have to have a guild hall and continuously obtain the new currency in order to maintain WVW effectiveness.

We do not need to raid for armor, only those of us that want the new legendary armors will go after them and they are not necessary for WVW, but the WVW upgrades are.

So a better comparison would be that we will have to do PVE raids in order to maintain the WVW upgrades (regardless wether those raids are guild missions or new upcoming raids in HOT). That is the issue.

iirc the only thing you’ll need for wvw upgrades afetr claiming guild hall will be that thing that is mined automatically….

Favour is not being mined automatically, and it does seem to be used for upgrades.

afaik favor will not be per se used for wvw upgrades – but then I may be mistaken on that part – one thing I can tell for sure – if it will be required it will be obtainable in wvw (haven’t they mention somewhere that favor will be obtained the same way as influence now is?)

So I’ll make this clear. Ranger has lots of ways to mintain prema swiftness in most possible scenarios, in and out of combat. Not sure about the benchmark of 2 min but it doesnt matter if its prema 2 min or prema 30 sec.

and my point was to point the semantic error of OP – because saying permanent swiftness does nto require you to add any time to it from the mere definition of “permanent”

[if one has capability of perma swift it does not matter if he cares to upkeep it for 30 seconds or 2 minutes but still saying 2min perma swiftness is semantically incorrect ]

It would be terrible design if druid staff had 1500 range. Why would they do that? This range is really rare in this game, only 2 professions have this: ranger and engineer. And that’s it, ranger already has 1500 range, why should they give them another weapon like that?

Range of staff will be 1000-1200 but not more, I call it now.

as the thread name says “one can dream” :P

but answering your question – simple – because they need to somehow make a staff that will be different than all other staffs and as we have 1200 range staffs, 600 range staff, two fresh melee staffs there are only two options left – sniper staff (1500 range) and medium range staff (900 range). but then there is a lot of weapons with varied roles at 900 range so the easiest way to make that stuff somewhat diferent from all stuff out there is to make it 1500 range staff

we can already snipe-damage with longbows – why shouldn’t we be able to snipe-support with a staff?

I actually main guardian and use a Sunrise (has more particle effects than Cobalt). I never had the issue Lord Trejgon or the OP describes.

tehnically I don;t have said issues since I have rig capable of sustaining the game on medium settings :P

the thing occured to me only on the lowest of lowest ones

and again – I don’t think anyone here would really mind if there was phew additional settings at graphics tab that would let ppl like OP to turn some flashy off

Azumi… You say lack of variety in builds, but there’s no one holding a gun to anyone’s head telling them to run zerker builds… as far as I know anyway.

Also, where’d you pull that 90% figure from? Thin air or do you have access to Anet’s metric data system?? HMMM? Oh, you don’t. You made it up. Got it. So, just going to disregard the rest of your comment since you pulled all that from the same place you made up some random number about the builds the “playerbase” is using.

In Trinity games, each role is important, so the player builds around that role which they plan to play in the group.

In GW2 since the only role is DPS, there is no benefit to building around anything other than The Most DPS aka Berserker.

There is currently no reason to stack Healing Power or Toughness in Dungeons and group PvE. Players build around the roles they play. Simple as that. And when your game has only one group role, dont act surprised when everybody builds around that one single role.

and then that single freak that decided to not follow current meta saves the run when all the paper canons died because one of them forgot to use one skill he was supposed to use at this specific moment….

the point you are ignoring by all your will atm is that damage is not the ONLY role – it’s just the role that requires LEAST amount of player skill to play EFFICIENTLY

Full Servers, is their an end in sight

The “not seeing anyone” in a competitive environment is exactly what creates an unhealthy level of time invested. When the server population to man hour requirements of the maps are in healthy balance, there should not be any time where the maps are empty. Empty maps and the desire to win leads to excessive behaviors. If you WvW often you’d have experienced this behavior in others and most likely yourself too.

when you play on europe server its logical to expact most of WvW’er being on WvW in european “prime time” of playing – analogicaly on US servers – if you are playing out of said time don’t be surprised that there are lesser amounts of players.

and if you are refering to guilds gathering in late night/early morning hours to capture objectives of server that has little to no players online because of said hours – well if they have to pull that kind of trick off to recapture an objective succesfully there were not in posisition to influence the weeks output in any reasonable way anyway.

well I do agree with OP that option to turn them down was in the options.

in case of huge open world boss events?

I see me, boss and a load of nameplates…. floating in the air….

and one thing to l2p guys – if I understood OP correctly his problem lies beyond the border of stuff he can actually “learn” the issue is that nearly everyone of us has slightly different built eyes that the others while some people even stands out in noticeable way – where one with “good eye” will be able to spot a load of important stuff on the screen while playing – other person will not be able to spot anything because the eye will just go crazy with amounts of input put onto it – I think thats what he meant with “input overload” as well – the amounts of stuff on the screen overloads his EYES capacity of input resulting in him seeing just a colorful mess in the place where other people would see a lot of information

also I can tell for myself that sometimes – and that was noticeable for me ESPECIALLY when playing on lower graphcial setting – combination of merely two or three skills was capable of generating amounts of particles totally obscuring the whole screen of the player – f.e. have you ever tried to play on lowest setting and cast on a mob in tight room guardians gs leap of faith directly followed by whirling wrath? while wielding cobalt on top of it?

I guarantee to you that in such situation you won’t be able to even see your own character – only one huge blue… something :P

I see alot of people using AVG in this thread…
Once upon a time AVG reasonably ok. Especially for a free Anti Virus. About 3-5 years ago though AVG itself acts like a virus and gives little to no protection and kittens up games now days. I had even used a paid version and it was still acting very odd for a antivirus. I ended up trying to uninstall it and it was requiring me to download another program to uninstall it. It took me a few days to fully get that kitten off my computer. I have since switched to Vipre and have had 0 issues and 0 viruses for 3 years.

I’d say that at some point you managed to get some malware that succeeded in fooling you that its AVG – I’m using it for like 4-5 years now and nothing you listed here ever occured to me….

but then every year they release “new edition” and update to that one requires to uninstall old version ond only then install new one….

Oh my, why do I keep typing “oh my”? Too funny to edit. Knowing for sure that druid will be last fried the few neurons I had left.

I never felt guilty for playing ranger in dungeon….
recently we ever had a team of 3 rangers thief and engineer
that run was fun…

[especially kholer part when 2 of ranger saved the day probably very much thanks to being thrown down at some point and by thus avoiding spike that killed the rest of teh team…..]

LoL, 2 min is a benchmark you can keep permanently, why is it so hard to understand ?

because I had phew build that were capable to uphold swiftness by 2 minutes but then it went for cd – aka was not perma but 2 minute of swiftness burst :P

[so by your theory it should be perma but it was not because of cooldowns]

[it wasn’t on ranger though…]

[before someone will eat me – it was not like there was a cooldown linger than two minute – that “burst” was about cyling phew skills wnehever ther went off cd and after sth like two minutes one fo them was going “out of synch” making it drop swift for some time and by thus it was not perma swiftness build – even if capable of upholding it for two minutes – but then it was long ago and soem balancing occured meanwhile so I dunno how it would work now…..]

Today I’ve got randomly such a though – “It’d be kitten awesome if staff wielded by druid was casting type weapon with default range of 1500” (on par with longbow)

perma – permanent this exclude any possibility of time limitations
[and on ranger doable ^^]

Perma is if application duration is greater than recharge duration + cast time.

which still implies that possibility of running out of said boon without enemy boon stripping and without player noobing does not actually exist – so still saying “2 minutes perma swiftness” is oxymoron because if its perma it does not last only two minutes – it’s permanent

Cause of the reward bug in the beginning of the mordrem event on 10.09. i had no clue how much blooms i already earned.
Now im sitting on 445 blooms beeing kittened as hell!
Anyone else has this problem?

I just received my blooms by mail, and I received 30 blooms.
I’m getting old and fuzzy but I was confident that on day one, I finished the very first invasion with 7 stacks, meaning that I was entitled to 5 from the buff + 20 from the daily map.

Now I’m sitting at kitten . I suppose I have the 5 you miss, now we just have to find a way to trade them…

If I click edit I see the number displayed correctly…

That answers it right there. I ditched AVG years ago because it was screwing up a lot of games. Still does.

you had to either use weird AVG or played weird games – I’m using it for years now and I haven’t encountered any issue with any game – while some other antivir softwares I checked out earlier could totally crash most of online games by blocking them by default without any way to tell them not to before it was too late…. (and then when trying to run game again it already forgot that it was told to NOT block that game and circle closes… the only way to play a game was to turn off the anivirus before launching the game….)

Sounds like you have some sort of virus on your computer. Since it is clearly working quite well for others.

I suggest you scan your computer and get rid off all the viruses and then try again.

And no, they shouldn’t and probably won’t remove the encouragement to use available account-security.

that would mean that you should deffo check out if your connection with internets are going the way you think its going – because my AVG said nothing about that thing :P

elite spec are pretty much “same same, but different, but still the same”.
It gives you 1 new weapons, 6 news spells and 1 new trait line.

“technically” they ARE “new traitline” (which unlock 1 new weapon and 6 new abilities)

lets say kind of elite traitline that you can includue or not in your build whenever you like – and it just gives more stuff than regular traitline (specialisation) but changes a little how class work so some may prefer to stick to their odl builds anyway

Not exactly true lol
Ele are very squishy but they heal a lot for example, this build has lots of evade because of quickdraw and weapons choice. Protective ward adds up and it makes the build hard to burst down for thieves/warrior which invigorating bond doesn’t really do at least in tpvp in wvw why not.

in case of this build semantically correct would be “squishy with survivability centered mostly around dodges”

as I said I’d have to run some calculations if heal on f2 every time cd is off would be better than damage reduction – so I’m not sure which one is better for survi I’m just pointing alternative to check out

Sharpening edge just adds more condis to your condis which is what you want to exploit with rampager.
The trap trait isn’t really needed because there is only flame trap the lowest cooldown and it only adds 60% dmg to 1 traps and some cripple, most of the time just the first tick as people usually dont like staying inside it unfortunately, the bleed on crit adds more consistent dmg and sword/shortbow already gives cripple.
Therefore hidden barbs could be a good option however you almost always want to use quickdraw on bonefire so the lower cooldowns on swords skills adds a bit more sustain.

well my point with trapper expertise was – that I’m personally rarely using any utility skills without having them traited for shorter cd and additional effects :P

What kind of zerg is hated now? I honestly just hate the idea of a zerg instead of small squads hitting certain objectives :/

basically – 30+ guys stacking in the spot of nearly single guy and running throught other similarry stacked formations, and win belongs to
A) more numerous formation if difference was big enough
B) the formation with better execution of stacking might before sweep and/or better execution of spamming water fields and blasts
C) formation that will manage to stick in perfect formation for longer

loong time ago what I loved in WvW was all logistics required to move those huge amounts of people around the stuff and when much smaller forces when working skillfully was able to stop a way greater forces at chokepoints corrently none of this even exists and imo full bodyblocking from gw1 reintroduced in WvW at least would perfectly fix that

Actually, warriors ARE using magic. What do you think how signets are working? Warriors aren’t using such a visable magic like elementalists do, that’s right, but they still do. It is just a body centered kind of magic. Imagine they are infusing their own body with magic to get stronger.

using magical items does not mean using magic per se
every other skill avery trait every piece of warrior lore screams – heavy training and self discipline (which is not magic in a any way) and here comes a signets – that gives warriors some acces to stuff impossible to achieve without any magic at all

There is only one profession, which isn’t using magic by itself and it is the engineer.

and warriors – I don;t count using magical signets as using magic – last time I checked you didn’t require any knowledge of how magical casting works to be able to activate magical signet – neither in tyria or in litarealy any other fantasy world

So I think berserk isn’t that ridiculous to use in any way.

it is – huge guy sets himself on fire and that fire not only does not burn him but also: cures poison, stops bleeding, puts out anuther fires that was already on him, cures immobilise, cripple, confusion and every single other condition you can name in the game – wherever it makes sense or not – not mentioning the part that this skill is just improved variation of GUARDIAN torch skill – whom for a change is actuall magic user

and then imagine a sylvari warrior doing it – a plant setting itself on fire which is by very skill description just setting on normal fire and it not only does not harm that plant at all but also cures it from conditions….

tbh for that single skill to make sense there are only tow options – suddenly all of warriors that pick ups berserker specjalisation are from Targaryens or all of them are in fact destroyers in undercover….

to the OP – for sure you won;t be able to run raids with fully guild squad without at least 10 guys in guild but I suppose that guild missions should be (finally) within such small guilds reach when expac hits teh grid ^^

Contrast that to GW2 and you quickly realize – GW2 doesn’t have a Trinity, no, it simply has the Damage Role.

it actually has one trinity but its not so called “holy trinity of mmo”:
damage, control and support

The only part of that “trinity” that’s upheld in GW2 is damage. The roles of control and support are merely added on as a bit of spice to the primary role of damage that everyone has in PvE.

as I said in the long post above – all three of them actually exists in the game – but control builds are just really rare to see, while most of support met in corrent meta are damage-support hybrids. also iirc back in then ANet also claimed that hybrids of these roles will be perfectly playable so….

we (as a community) have to learn to tell the difference between current meta (that can always change) and what possibilities there are actually in-game – I’ve seen alot of good purely support builds and phew good purely control builds – and I’ve seen teams where there was one pure support, with added control guy and 3 pure damage specced guys – and that team was doing their job on same level – if not even better than metazerk team would, while employing a way more interesting tactics in combat – but then agan that team required alot of skill and actuall teamwork to make it – as in oposition to metazerk.

for sure I’m not using berserker at my warrior – that one is plainly ridiculous elite spec to even pull off (unmagical warrior setting himself on fire and that doesn’t hurt him? kitten it even HELP him? – so lets make sylvari warrior berserker and whats then? :P)

daredevil suits very much my playstyle on thief so thats out of question and as far as I know I want to fit dragonhunter – but as long as the’ll reveal more details on druid I dunno if I’ll be fitting this one.

so yeah you are not the only one who is wondering if fit some of them

Bounty can be done solo, although duo is much easier

thats funny considering that last time when my guild attempted bounty TRAINING with a squad of 3 we failed miserably….

other thing being that it was more than a half year ago……

I wasn’t always able to make guild mission, so I actually solo bounty time to time for guild commendation.

But I was usually able to pick the easy bounty since I use tier 3 and only need to kill one of the six. But even that, I run out of time often. A cheese way of doing bounty is use bow bear, and try fighting beside the way point so you can keep spawn rushing.

I think there was someone on reddit who says he usually solo bounty training for influence and sell siege that way for money. He said his success rate is around 50%.

If you are really interested in doing bounty with low man, I suggest running during reset time. Since every guild is running that time, so you can leach of other guilds and actually have a high success rate even if you have small amount of people.

well after failing miserably at bounty trainings we dropped the topic and in fact – never reached actuall bounty….
probably we’ll be back to the topic after the expac hits the grid because of changes in how guild missions are done.

This is same as complaining why raids need 10 people and why can’t they be soloed or 2-3 manned (nobody actually complained yet, but you get my drift).
Point of guild quests/events is that more people gather to do guild related stuff to advance the guild. If you choose to have guild with 20 active players, few online at a time then that comes at a cost. Cost being harder guild advancment and sometimes not being able to do all stuff bigger guilds can. You can’t compare your guild to a guild that has 200 active members and demand equality. Big guilds are harder to manage and in return some benefits must come from that. It’s harsh but it how it is and how it’s fair. Otherwise, everyone would make small guild and easily grab all the rewards that come with it.

and then ArenaNet throw at us 5 ppl NPC guilds and tell everywhere how awesome guild it is :P

well technically trooper rune set bonus says that shout remove conditions from AFFECTED allies – and since there is no ally beside you and your pet affected in the first place…..
