what really needs to happen? the scepter chain needs to be SLOWED DOWN so that the chain cannot continue any faster in melee range than it does from afar, and then compensate with a boost to its damage
So, this wouldn’t fix anything.
The problem isn’t that melee is faster.
The problem is that the chain waits to attack until the projectile hits.If you slow down the melee speed, you slow down the ranged speed even more, because it still waits until the projectile hits to attack again.
The mechanic makes attack speeds at various ranges uneven by definition.
What needs to happen is making the attack chain work like every other attack chain on every other character in the game: attack at specific intervals, not related to where the projectiles are at.what? if each attack in the chain took longer to activate, the projectile would have more time to reach its target before the next attack, therefor chaining consistently at any distance
You misunderstand. The next attack doesn’t start until the projectile hits. Making that part take longer doesn’t remove the waiting period.
I think what he’s saying is that if you made the aftercast so long that the projectile would hit by the time it was over, then distance from the target wouldn’t matter anymore.
It’s an idea worthy of being burned, banned, and burned again, but technically it would work.
would you still feel that way if the damage was tripled?
i was expecting this to be a velocity complaint? if you nocked those arrows any faster, it’d be Rapid Fire levels of silly
it was real powerful with Burning Arrows before King of Fires was nerfed
You must not have played literally any other class and/or used any other ranged weapon. Regardless, the damage needs to be improved if for some arbitrary reason they do not want to increase the speed as they did for the Ranger’s LB.
why does it have to be attack speed? why not the damage, or the projectile finisher chance, or baseline burning arrows?
my point is that the aesthetic does not have to be compromised, unless you wouldn’t mind if we were all grey blobs spreading numbers about

Just check through the balance changes for it. At one point the projectile speed on the projectile was increased to make the attack move quicker, acknowledging the linkage between hitting and the next chain.
grasping for straws….

ether bolt chain is strong, the problem is that it’s only strong in melee range. from further away, it takes too long to continue the chain
pretty weird that it’s stronger to point-blank a Gunflame rather than Decapitate

learning a map is a mastery in and of itself
Is this really now a thing?
I was told that this is happening at times now, that joining in on a meta in the HoT maps can get you called out and attacked in map chat for not being in squad.
I rather look forward to the argument to occur with me and this almost gives incentive to go into them. Almost.
Squads can serve a purpose, sure, but for one, a squad impacts my ability to play the way I want. I want to be in my party, talking to my friends. Been doing the metas since they released, and it isn’t exactly difficult. Have done them since the squad changes and everyone feeling like a squad is now a requirement to do anything. The constant invites were annoying enough, having to decline them. But is this really descending to the point that not being in a squad, especially a player that knows what they are doing and is helping, not hurting, the meta, deserves to be bashed, attacked, trolled, and treated like dirt? Is this really what it’s becoming? Or was this just some fluke with some people that needed to pull that stick out?
you don’t seem bothered by being called out; in fact, you seem rather pleased about it. maybe change the thread title to something about invite spam? that’s a valid issue.
When
entitlement at its finest
you can make a revenant, and play the elite specializations in structured pvp
nooo don’t read anything!!!! just keep going and keep unlocking stuff, you get those skill slots from investing points the same way that you unlocked the stance
GW2 is one of a kind, like super smash bros
drag the voice slider to the very left if voices make you want to turn the game off
My male Mesmer sounds feminine, so much i want to play another race. I would like the option to make him sound like a trucker, or at least like a man.
So here is to being able to buy different voices for your races..with gems of course.
I think this would be quite popular among the masses. The Mesmer is the butterfly caster people, right….?
yes? aesthestics are not exclusive to a specific tone of voice

Female cloths are crap. Clearly the target demographic is 14-18 year old males.
I gave up long ago and just bought a Jungle Explorer Outfit.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Jungle_Explorer_Outfit
I don’t believe that the cause of girl gamers is served by this sexist bias. Just my opinion.
it’s only sexist if you think only females should wear certain clothing.
if it’s balanced for pvp, it’s balanced for pve
if it’s ok in action mode, should be ok otherwise, just a matter of interest and implementation
considering how much stronger thief auto attacks are, warrior feels weak
i wish i had the perspective of desiring this so that i might understand why
The idea would be sound 3+ years ago. Anet will not go back and add new content based on the old story, since it is a waste of their resources, resources which are stretched as it is.
Yes Zhaitan would be have been better if it was open world based or anything beyond what was produced, but that ship has sailed now. It’s pretty much a guarantee we will never see content updates for Orr regardless of how good the idea may or may not be.
wow talk about informed, any other secrets you wanna share?
pvp is known to cause migraines
good night
when you’re done with guild wars 2, you know what you’re gonna want to remember?
the fun you had.
know what you’re NOT gonna want to remember? all those dailies you did, day after day
just look at your skill tooltips; condition damage climbs much higher with duration than damage
You realize that’s the CUMULATIVE damage right? Skills dont show the dps of the condition unless the condition inflicted happens to LAST a second. Otherwise it’s showing dps*s.
total damage
just look at your skill tooltips; condition damage climbs much higher with duration than damage
no one can speak for intent or design; mostly because we aren’t developers, but also because it can change.
how about poison stops preventing revival skills from fully reviving, and instead reduces the amount of health that they stand up with?
In all instances of my posts above, I did speak for the intent of design because I researched this information and was playing during the creation and formal discussion on the subjects from ArenaNet to the players.
As I said, arguing regarding these design decisions is quite literally arguing against the word of ANet when announcing these design changes and decisions.
being a consumer, a statistic and a testimony has nothing to do with understanding the ever-changing intent and designs of a product
no one can speak for intent or design; mostly because we aren’t developers, but also because it can change.
how about poison stops preventing revival skills from fully reviving, and instead reduces the amount of health that they stand up with?
Actually, we can. Mostly because it’s anet’s INTENT and DESIGN to make these changes when they drop patches.
your tone contradicts, but your point reiterates mine. their intent is what makes patches possible, not ours

I don’t really follow your logic there.
If it was “since poison slows reviving then healing power should speed it up” then it would make more sense.
Quickness and slow affect the rate while poison would be affecting magnitude.
poison directly slows down revival rate, just like slow. worse, it can prevent revival skills from reviving
why does it need an opposite to make sense to you?
It doesn’t; that was the point of his post.
The purpose of poison is to cut heals and subsequently res speed. Quickness/Slow are blanket effects which cover any animation and are meant to be used on people who are up and fighting.
how are you so aware that slow and quickness were intended to only function on characters not reviving/finishing? it still affects downed characters. we went years with quickness affecting it until after they added its opposite: slow. how do you know whether poison isn’t the same and they just haven’t tackled it yet?
of course the playerbase would want humans with wings
just in time to fight bubbles
holding spacebar doesn’t affect jumps.. make a new habit, waste less energy
I don’t really follow your logic there.

then neither should poison
is there anyone who wants to add without just trying to invalidate a concern?
The aura goes away cause you are detonating it to burn the target.
Auras dont stack so longer duration auras will get overwritten by shorter duration ones.
this much is obvious, but wouldn’t you think these traits should synergize rather than conflict?
Powerful Synergy can grant the warrior a 10-second fire shield
King of Fires easily overwrites it with a 5-second fire shield after a critical hit, and/or removes the shield after using any Rage/Primal Burst/torch skill
to reproduce:
equip traits Powerful Synergy (tactics), King of Fires (berserker)
wear a mainhand sword, a torch, and a Rampager amulet
use Flames of War (torch 5), followed by Savage Leap (sword 2), and then any Rage/Primal Burst/torch ability, or connect with a critical hit
Savage Leap triggers a 10-second fire shield through Flames of War’s fire field, and then any Rage/Primal Burst/torch skill will remove that shield. alternatively, any critical hit will reduce the 10-second fire shield to 5 seconds
i’m not sure i’m understanding. were you guys swapping subgroups during combat to share boons with other subgroups? do you really think anything about the game was designed with that in mind??
we furcadia now
doesn’t matter how fast ether bolt’s cast is; still have to wait for the projectile to connect in order to smoothly continue the chain
you can jump while using it to prevent the evade
Yeah.. but Boon corrupt on auto attack?
let’s not forget that mesmer’s sword auto-attack has boon strip, which the clones use
meta exists to be countered by real teams /tinfoilhat
why have every piece of equipment adjusted to fit a cool new race when you can just copy paste humans and add some wings? ready to fight bubbles with your NEW WATER ELF?!
i mean, all we ever see is human players with wings, so we already know it will sell
if you play just to get hall of monuments rewards, you’re gonna have a bad time. maybe wait until you’re actually interested in playing the game
surely you considered the fact that it was an item you’d get to use for only a few days each year. consider the possibility that development is not a concrete process, and it could take longer to be able to use it again
this Renown Heart offers a unique perspective and makes players think. not only is it an educational tool, it’s FICTIONAL!
if anything, it is a boon to your cause
this has NOTHING to do with whatever that website is. this was all expressed in an official arenanet stream!!!!
lending my voice here!!!! Flanking Strikes can be important in a build that uses Improvisation because it can count as one of the 6 skill types when only up to 5 can be equipped, unfortunately it’s unaffected by Improvisation completely
