To start a dervish you need the Nightfall campaign, that is the only way to play a dervish. Factions adds two extra professions: The ritualist and the assassin. Nightfall adds the paragon and dervish.

After all, it needs to be fair: older players’ progression must be slowed down so that newer players who just start fractals don’t feel left out and have a shot at ranking high on the leaderboard. I agree, and we should also have our character levels reset every month or so to ensure fairness for newer players, make sure to improve the progression of the game and for newer players. Yessir.

Gloves: HoM
Leggings: Winged
Boots: Diviner (WvW)

Don’t be afraid to use GS exclusively for some fights especially boss fights. I also would rather use shortbow or axe if range is really needed during a fight.

For the pet always dying situation, I mostly use dual drakes because they don’t die instantly and have cleave. If you don’t want to sacrifice your stats you can always just use protect me to add more survivability.

Rangers need a lot of support in fractals, if you don’t have a guardian, ele or even a mesmer in your group you’re most likely gonna have a hard time. Try low levels and work up, don’t go on a lvl 38 and think it’s gonna go fine.

I’m happy about this, it took no skill and was really ineffective for a farm. You can always go to EoTM to farm your champ bags, that’s what I’ve been doing to level my last profession. It sucks, just move on to the next best thing you can stomach.

It was not overnerfed… They are all easy and so was dredge BEFORE the nerf, now it’s easy and doesn’t take forever to complete.

Hard to split up a zerg when there is only 1 commander on the map, people like sticking together. This event isn’t gonna work unless there is a structured group that does it… Oh well, I only tag the last boss and then go back to the gauntlet anyways.

Keep trying, use the food and oils people suggested. Don’t just try one character, I went through 3 of mine just to end up killing her on my staff elementalist within 2 tries. You can’t just rambo those right as much as you want. Learn to time your evades and use skills to help with your survivability.

I know how it feels, I play my ranger almost exclusively in fractals. I don’t use my bow much and mainly stick to sword/axe (yes, you can survive high levels with this weapon choice). I specifically tell my team I’m not a bearbow and they don’t kick 90% of the time.

I don’t think it’s the players fault for wanting to have “good” professions/ builds in their fractal groups. This is 100% a balance/ design issue and the way I see it and it will never be fixed.

Only advice I can give you is try using a different weapon set or find a like minded guild that lets you play what you want.

Longbow/GS has a lot more utility and is helpful if you are newer to ranger. I would suggest a power build. Frost trap or muddy terrain would be good CCs to use if you need it. (You don’t need extra CC if you bring the right pets)

Fotm is the only thing I find truly enjoyable as endgame. Although I only use zerk and melee most bosses, you don’t usually find that. If you want some build diversity, you should run fractals.

The only thing I hate is cleric warriors, rangers and guardians that just can’t hold their own weight and are actually a burden to the group. If you join a play how you want group, you should play only ranged with the crappiest utilities, traits and elites with PvT/ Cleric armor (it makes the run 100% more enjoyable just to lol at yourself).

I would support this only if it was tonic form, sorry buddies but a bikini-wearing warrior is like TERA’s lvl of tacky.

That is not entirely true.
I was doing map completion in Straits of Devastation the other day and Balthazar wasn’t open. That pretty much made it impossible to commune with the SP at Melandru statues. I guested one of one the other large servers and it happens that they did have it open and finished the map that way. It lowers your chances but it doesn’t eliminate the option.

On the other hand that is not a problem with the megaserver system. That is a problem with ANet not fixing broken events.

No no no, lvl 19 or 20 is the way to go. I do 19, 29, 38, 50 every single day and not once on the high lvls have I got anything of value. Today, I was doing a 16 and I got a Healer’s Chest of Ascended Boots!

I tend to have 4 or 5 different types of soulbound runes on each of my alt (monk, sanctuary, baelfire, forge, …), and it starts to take a lot of places. Account bound would be fine. Or allow 4 superior runes in the mystic forge to get another superior one.

Trying to do the thaumanova fractal, we get to the part where we have to disable the colliders with 2 people dead and a warrior standing by the 2 consoles to finish up that part. He doesn’t understand blast finishers either (has Sunrise).

Overall its a good idea, the one change that is needed is that it should not affect cities. There is no combat and no group activity in a city, they are purely social areas. This system will try to keep cities busy, which means that any off peak time will see the populations all sent every which way. It will treat the social side like a tequatl raid, thinking that any player is a good player and not understanding that roleplayers need to keep together even when the population in their city is not so busy at that hour.

If I walk into divinity’s reach, our hub, at the wrong time, I will be sent to some random place, with random people and there is no “real city” to request a taxi to. Some of our community will be in one place, others in another. It will be a total mess and I doubt even that the shards will have handy numbers or a main shard, as happens now, so we can all taxi to the right place.

It’s going to be complete random mayhem, but that can all be changed by not having this affect city zones.

My first April Fools when Anet switched the genders, laughed my kitten off and showed my whole family. Anet fooled me hard.

So I was browsing LFG and saw a lvl 38 fractal group on the second fractal and say what the hell, I’ll join. Right when I hit join they are complaining about elitists and hwo the previous warrior left the group, and how they constantly get “yelled” at for being scepter guardians with 21K HP. I decided to have some fun and switch up my normal build for a PVT double rifle warrior with rampage and fear me.

We finally get to the boss and the mesmer wants to melee “burst” down Ashym with TW. I find this a perfect opportunity to play how I want and use fear me. The group flips out on the necro and is kicked right when the boss dies. Lawl

My favourite GW word censor comes from GW1.

One of the more difficult missions at the beginning of the Factions newbie island was to kill a character called Captain Quimang.
His name was clearly printed above his head, but if you asked other players for help in killing Quimang, the first syllable of his surname would be censored, as it is an archaic (17th century) vulgar term.

(It will be interesting to see if that syllable gets hit with the kitten filter)

I don’t think that having skins is what bothers GW1 players, the skins are pretty and very well designed for GW2. But the fact they took a prestigious weapon in GW1 and put it as a Cash Shop RNG weapon… is just really pathetic.
