There will always be those people who say the people with more hours than them have no life blah blah blah. It’s amazing what people can do if they don’t need that much sleep, don’t have children, don’t have your life. Everyone is different and everyone has different spans of time they can play in. I’ve had this week 2 players in a level 4 fractal, one was 31,7k ap and the other one a bit over 32k. They had no clue what to do, constantly dying on the laser staircase, so I asked them if they bought the accounts. Each one states that he was over 4k game hours, but never tried fractals, and were doing for the first time to squeeze the only APs they had left.

Morale of the story: AP and game time DO NOT kittenING MATTER, unless proven otherwise.

Looks like a rollback occurred. I lost WVW progress and some loot.

Rollbacks only occur right after someone receives a looted precursor to keep the economy in balance.

Don’t give up on Anet yet! I’m currently playing the GW2 Cantha expansion and other than being a little bit grindy, it’s great! They finally brought back Assassins and Ritualists, although I’m not too thrilled with the renaming of ritualist to summoner. Can’t have everything I guess!

Is HoT challenging? Yes.

Why Doesn’t it feel challenging? Death does not matter, Death doesn’t matter in GW2, you can pretty much rez rush to the objective and eventually beat it. Sure, it’s annoying but that’s about it. Waypoints in my opinion, were the worst edition to this game…having them every 20 feet was a horrible mistake…

In GW1 there was a severe penalty for death and if your entire party wiped in the instance (Pre- EOTN) it was over, bye, done, restart, gg. By not having that penalty for death you get no difficulty whatsoever. If an encounter is indeed difficult, lets say the Chak Gerent (I see a lot of ppl die to him) and there was no waypoint on the map, you had to be rezed by people and if your party wiped it’d be over, failed event gg. It would add to the difficulty.

Since there will always be a rez rush problem, there will be no “difficult” content in GW2.

The first year the game was out, someone data mined a school uniform that never made it into game. Skimpy Japanese style school gril outfit. Since it’s never been brought to the gemstore, I’m guessing the idea was axed.

I wear Gwamm or my PvP champ titles. Gwamm takes more commitment on one character than champion of the gods.

- Modrem Mouth boss event is awesome, but the mechanics of that map is shocking. As if what i’ve already said wasn’t bad enough, to have all the waypoints contested at all times, makes the navigation even more horrible. But wait, there’s more. Every 2 hours (if you’re lucky to get in there at the reset of the map) you’re unceremoniously killed off and sent right back to the beginning of the map. I’ve lost count how often it took me those 2 hours just to get to the bottom of the map and b4 i could get to that HP, or vista i’ve been trying to get for days, only to be killed off and sent back to the beginning. I’ve never seen anything so ludicrous in my life. I eventually got into a habit of just logging out prior to being killed off and when i return, i’m usually in an empty map, at which point i quit the game in frustration.

DS can get really frustrating. I’m trying to get map complete on my 2nd character, but I’ve hit a snag on getting into maps where the event succeeds. It’s annoying if you spend significant time waiting for/checking LFG/map hopping to get into a populated enough map AND one with enough time on the clock to complete it, and then it fails, and you have to start the process all over again.

I’m a bit confused. Why do you need the event to succeed on DS to get map complete?

There’s is at least one HP i know of for sure that only becomes accessible after a successful DS meta event. I’m told there are others can’t remember now if its a vista, HP or POI where a spider queen only spawns after the successful event as well i’m told. but even if its just one that i know of, that’s enough to not be able to complete the map isn’kitten

The issue isn’t about succeeding, that’s the easy part. What’s annoying is you only get 15 mins to explore all poi, hp and vistas that aren’t accessible because the density of mobs during the meta event makes it extremely difficult if you’re not a thief or engi.

I agree with you about TD map….to me it’s not about the difficulty at all, I rarely ever die there. But the navigation is kittening awful. I can’t stand that place. I love VB and AB though. And farming DS is fun too.

Lol. Been playing MMO’s for a loooong time. The difference between grinding and not grinding is the fun factor. If you are having fun then it isn’t a grind. HoT is all about the grind without any of the fun.

Fun is subjective.

I got all of my ascended gear doing fractals and had some lucky drops in champ boxes. I don’t think you can do that anymore though…unfortunately.

To be honest- all MMOs are grindy…if you really don’t like grind then I suggest you look at other game types.

Let’s be honest: ANet included raids because players asked for them. They made HoT harder because players asked for challenging content. They added masteries and hero points because players complained that there wasn’t much left to do once you reach a certain point in the game. Of course ANet made mistakes in the way they implemented these things, but you can’t deny that GW2 becoming more and more like most other 08/15 MMOs is because many players want GW2 to be like other MMOs. This is what happens when developers listen too much to their players.

What I don’t understand is why these devs (not just Anet devs – pretty much ALL devs) STILL don’t seem to get that one type of person’s opinion isn’t, necessarily, as representative of the playbase, as a whole, as another’s.

Surely, they must have noticed, by now, that a certain type of player – let’s call them “hardcore” – tends to comment about games, on the internet, far more often than another type – let’s call them “casual” – ever does.

They MUST have noticed this, surely?!

…and yet, they seem to treat all comments as if they were created equal and are all equally representative of the playerbase make-up, as a whole.

Despite all the mounting evidence to the contrary, all around them…

About the 45 armor sets in GW1, there was that but if you think about the 10 professions each having different armor styles dedicated to them. GW2 has about that many in HoT (5 races, 3 armor styles, 2 different armor sets, + 9 armor pieces from elite specs). So ya…that’s one thing a little more on par with EoTN.

All-in-all…I agree with you. But I still enjoy HoT immensely.

As much as I love you guys describing “Agonized Essence” as that thingy(it helped me, lol). You get it when you talk to the MAST-ER golem which transports you to the merchant it’s on the 2nd panel.

Recipe is 1 agonized essence, 1 philosopher stone, 1 (+1) agony infusion, 1 ascended ring (I used one that was infused). Thanks, kaBoonio!

Like others have said, go for sweet tooth and drunkard. Wintersday is the absolute best time to getting both of these titles and it’s only 2 months away. Otherwise you can try for Luxon by doing vanquishes…but it’s very time consuming.

I would suggest just buying the items rather than farming.

At lvl 4 you don’t need to worry about that stuff…just play what ever you find fun…learn the class…play all weapon sets and read the skills. Gl and hf
