Is there a way to easy pick up the orb if someone of your team gets downed and the orb drops? I don’t want to do revive every time? Pretty anyoing with tons of people around. Orb shoud be priority for pressing F.

Okay. For enemy team if they drop the orb: I just save a knockback or launch skill(I think there is a difference and according to wiki only “launch” moves downed bodies) to move the downed enemy player away. Then it’s easy to pick it up and run away of others are still busy killing(only if you are not outnumbered there). That’s an interesting strategy to just let the enemy cap the orb if it’s a weak class/ player that dies fast and no protection nearby(and of course you should avoid to do that stuff). Saving time to pick up since it doesn’t need a few seconds like picking up from Altar. Also if the enemy is running to one of your captured points you’ll have it much easier to get the 30 points and he helped you. Ha ha.

For the beginning I really think 4 orb 1 close point is best cause a lot of players are going to orb… if only a few are there you’ll notice and then most of the time it’s noobs with 3 orb 2 at their close point for achievements waiting to cap instead 3 1 1.

Later I think at least 1 person constantly should try to cap points. Other 4 at orb and as needed a few more switch to cap points(if a lot of enemy at points). If most enemies at orb and they also have only 1 at points(hopefully your 1 capturing guy can kill him 1 vs. 1) then 4 should go orb to counter them and kill their orb carrier or support own orb carrier.

Edit: Also you can go 3 1 1
3 orb, 1 close point. 1 enemy point and no one raven. If enemy has only 1 person there and you can kill him and they get orb they’ll likely go there since it’s there point(if you don’t kill to fast and they manage to capture it first). Now you are in a good position to go down to meet that guy and knock him down… or maybe (more risky) trying to kill him and take the orb. Like knocking him back while still trying to keep him on the wooden floor/ stairs so your team gets more time to put damage on him.

We don’t need “hello” and stuff like that. I think it’s annoying. You always think you have to reply if someone starts with this but are too lazy and then feel bad. Better if it’s just omitted. It’s not giving any information.

Only info regarding the match and team strategy should be written in chat and as short(not many words to make it easy to read and understand) as possible… if you need to type during a running match(maybe when you are dead and have a few seconds time).

Before the match won’t help much… you don’t know the enemy team and a strategy you decide in the 1-2 minutse before match starts might not work and you win with doing something different in the end.

practically no “gg” or “wp” at the end from the losers. Actually you’d see a gg from the winners, which, in most other games is seen as offensive. It’s up to us to work on this!

You don’t need to type that if it was not a good game and the winning team won 500 vs 350 or even better. And I agree: This could seem offensive if the winning team then says “gg”. But if it was close like 495 vs. 500 then I don’t think it is offensive if the winning team says “gg” and even the losers sure are more willing to say “gg” because if was fun.

Where is the outrage on 4v5 match ups?

I think if it’s 4 vs. 5 from the beginning it is okay for you to leave or go afk if you are in the team with only 4 people. No use wasting the time trying. Only if it’s near the end of the match and if you still could win you should play.

Also if the other team is much better there is no use in letting them farm you. 50 vs. 350 after a few minutes and you can just stop trying because the others have won already and even in 5 vs. 5 you can just be afk.

But if it is the beginning and only a bad start and like 30 vs. 120 points then you still should play(some people mentioned that already people leave at this but I think this is too early).

Ha ha. I also had this problem. One of these teams was a premade with 3 rangers. Also a lot of random teams with 2 rangers.

I checked that patch notes again and it does not seem that much of a buff(the ranger players complaining about our “whining” already mentiond only a few more hp).

I think the problem is that rangers always have been a bit strong(someone said this in another thread) and now more and more people are playing rangers because of the last patch and that’s why we only notice them now.

Someone said they are not good at teamfights… but that is also a reason they are that strong cause a lot of people play tPvP in random and the only teamplay there is is rezzing sometimes.

Timed uses of combo field or other skills that give conditions to allies… don’t think some random team can do this. Strategy is possible if you know where to go(now even better cause you can see where your team members are at the minipap). But more micro management of skill… premade teams will be at an advantage there.

Also I don’t know why but if I play glass cannon and want to kill other glass cannon it only takes a few hits but the pets that are supposed to be “dps” pets usually can take a lot more hits… maybe there base toughness is strong despite being good at dealing damage? Or it is just the build the ranger is using giving that pet a huge increase in stats.

I only experienced this in 1 hotjoin matches(but I don’t play much hotjoin and I think it was Custom Arena – maybe there was a setting to disable the orbs?). All the tournament matches I played I never experienced this.

But 1 time in tPvP Spirit Watch I saw a pet bug where after match start the enemy ranger’s pet was already down near our gates fighting a pet from another ranger from my team both pets almost dead(must have been there from earlier the 1-2 minutes before match starts and not have been reset).

What kind of gameplay is this?

That’s not “gameplay”. That’s only a few kitten people. It’s not uncommon to have such cases and I already know some of that stuff from other games.

Especially the “excuses” where the self-proclaimed “pros” complain about lag or hackers if they get killed by someone with lower ranking(because it can’t be that someone lower can kill these pros without hack! lol).

Also jumping and stuff like that and dancing is fun. Especially if they are people making those “excuses” it can be fun to kill them 2 vs. 1 and then dance on them to make them whine because it was unfair(because you know you’ll get an reaction cause they are like that to react and then complain in chat).

This should be fixed then. I know Ele have some traits and I think Thief has a skill/signet which give permanently +25% movement speed. If this works with orb they should fix it.

RTL and stuff like “super speed” from a engineer toolkit skill should be allowed since it has CD but not such passive permanent speed boost.

They totally should remake the system so you can have 1 PvE home server, 1 WvW home server and 1 PvP home server(determining your region and the leaderboard).

Then only WvW home server changing should cost gems and be limited. PvE now with guesting already is not a problem.

And sPvP also should be free to switch the regions.

I think another problem why everyone is complaining about the map:

You lose often because of bad team and nobody knows strategies because this map is different from other maps.

But that is not the problem of the map. People need to play more. And if you stop because you lost of others then also you won’t improve and maybe others might complain about you next time.

Matchmaking and rank is a problem here since a lot of players care about the rank and hate it to lose… and winning heavily depends on the whole team and 1 player can’t do much…

Temple of the Silent Storm maybe you can as 1 player do a lot if others all are ignoring the buffs but this map for a good player it is harder to increase his ranking if others in his team are bad.

For me my rating decreased by 20 percent while playing this map… a lot of close matches where it looked like we were winning at the beginning. But I can’t do much if I’m capping all the 3 points and even getting there bunker guardian removed that is at the point and others should be 4 vs. 4 at the orb and enemy team is alway getting the orb 1 second after it spawned(why is nobody attacking that guy with all our other people there?)

Or situations like 1 enemy at a point. 3 of ours spending minutes killing him.. 4th guy is somewhere else. 1 try to go to the orb but can’t do much against the 4 other enemy guys there. Also going to other points to try capturing all 4 points won’t help that much. They just come and kill me. Take the point.

But still playing. Sometimes you get some good matches. Better communication could help a lot here… but typing costs time. I hope some text macro or stuff like that which has been suggested by others will get implemented in the future. Would be nice.

I think it also is a problem that there are not that much players playing and the searching/matchmaking timer maybe is low cause no one wants to wait long.

I had a few matches where it was like 3 or 4 guild people on both teams and I was the 5th random(an other team had a 5th random). That seemed balanced.

Maybe it is trying to balance… but if there are not enough people it is not possible and because it has to match you in 2-3 minutes(usually it does not take longer) it just makes imbalanced matches instead of letting you wait longer.

Might be more of a problem if you are top or at bottom of the leaderboards since there are less people to match you. In the middle there are a few below you and a few above you. At the top of course it’s less above you and it might be more likely to get worse enemies that are easy to beat.

Also at the mid 50% I think new players start? (They should start there because most of players are at mid and we don’t know anythinga bout them). So a lot of unbalanced matches there… since nothing is known about the new players and they could be much better or much worse than 50 percent(which makes it hard to increas from 0 to 100 cause it is hard getting past the 50 cause you can lose a lot there because of others).

The old adage about the definition of insanity comes to mind.. doing the same thing over and over and achieving the same negative result? At this point you need to change things up. Keep making adjustments, whether that be in your approach or your build or even your class. Don’t say.. “well this is too painful, arenanet come change this.”

Yeah. But the problem: You change it to a “ranger killer build” and then the next match the enemy team has no rangers… what then? You don’t know before the match. That’s why I hope they’ll make it so you can save builds to makt it easier to switch cause no one is changing every match in the first 1-2 minutes… that’s just boring when you want to play not changing builds every match. Also why did they nerf Ele then? If everyone could just switch to Ele and play Ele if the enemy team has more Ele(or play another class and make an “Ele Killer build”) Then ArenaNet would not need to balance at all.

That said.. stealth(arenanet’s folly), evasion, stuns and condition spam are all completely viable counters for rangers of any spec. Not to mention, they lack a little punch offensively. Even if you run glass cannon, the returns are minimal.

Not every class has stealth. So all people should play thief against ranger now? Evasion is limited. Stuns also are limited and usually you need to get close because the skills don’t have 1500 range like his bow. You can ignore the pet run after him and try to get into attack range while he is attacking. Just because he is master at kiting and all the bows have a base range 1200. Even if you dodge all the cripples and stuff it is a pain. And conditions… yeah then you probably would need a condition build and again make build based on team info and use this if the enemy team has a lot of ranger and alwasy changing builds.

I really hope they let us save builds soon in the future.

I think to make it balanced: The pet should be “out of control” and run around randomly attacking even allies(or at least attack no one or only 1 random enemy… but certainly not being able to be commanded to attack 1 specific enemy).

Pet skill should not be able to be used and all the other F1-F4 stuff should not be able to be used.

Then other classes wouldn’t need to be improved. Of course he can still keep the 1-4 downed skills. Pet healing should be allowed since it is not outside the 1-4 and an extra like F1-F4 which other classes don’t have. It is not that much if you just finish 2 times(first time interrupted by 2) if no one else is around to disturb you. Even if he manages to start 3 to heal the next finish kills him. You really need to be very slow… to not finish him…

which probably means other enemies are nearby distracting you and that means it should be harder to kill(they even could rez him).

4) There is already WvW for those big types of fights

1) Who cares about spectators? Again that eSports crap? Then take 2 or 3 experienced spectators each observing a different part of the map like in sports in TV and let them broadcast it and explain to other persons watching.

2) + 3) If you can make a map that needs players to be at different locations. Of course the usual capture + zerg mid node + zerg bosses / npcs won’t help here. Then I agree. It would be tons of people at one point zerging and too much damage and AoE.

But if you need to be at 2-3 locations at the same time(maybe some switches to open some door) the enemy needs to do the same or at least try to stop you.

4) WvW is much bigger. 3 teams and more like 40-50 people at least in the higher tiers… or even more.

They should replace Kyhlo then with this map. Nobody needs 2 maps with trebuchet especially if they don’t let us chose maps in tournament and force us to play each map for 3-4 days.

Makes us only wait 3-4 days longer until our favorite maps will be back once this map makes it into rotation(I hope it won’t or they’ll really replace Kyhlo).

Or the treb icon is representing something other than a trebuchet and they don’t have a proper new icon yet? I would like some gates and switches and stuff like that you need to control. Would be much more interesting than playing WvW sieges with 5 vs. 5.

If the enemies team has 3 rangers(a lot of guild teams use 2 or 3 rangesr at the moment) and you don’t have a ranger(random team) and you lose all the time then it is not balanced.

I understand that it is a team game and you could just take 3 rangers in your own team but not everyone is playing a ranger.

The way the game modes are designed(5 vs. 5 in tournament) it has to be balanced somehow even 1 vs. 1. Of course there is no need to make it that every class is balanced against every other class in 1 vs. 1 but at least 3-4 other classes should be able to win against the class and not making 1 class that strong so he can only be killes by 2 others.

ArenaNet knows this. They wouldn’t have balanced Ele if there was no need to balance.

They could make bigger maps like 16 vs. 16 then 1 or 2 rangers wouldn’t matter and on random teams you would have a better change to get balanced teams in terms of classes.

Or make it so the 5 vs. 5 only accepts teams with max 1 person each class and no 2, 3,4 ranger.

Also you don’t know the enemies builds or classes and as random you don’t know the builds anc classes of your team mates.

This forces ArenaNet to balance everything even 1 vs. 1(if they don’t want to make the team only for premade groups and still give random teams a chance). Also it forces the player to run a allrounder build since going into specialiced builds doesn’t help… if you go bunker and all the others joining have bunker too then you have no one being able to deal damage.

And don’t tell me “you can change classes and builds”. Takes reloading and not everyone is good at every class. And the changing builds in the 1-2 minutes is a pain. Also I don’t think you can change items cause you can’t go back to the mists to buy another item. It always is loading the tournament map(and I’m not taking other stuff with me cause I also play PvE and don’t have much room in my inventory).

What I think what makes the ranger easier: Other classes have to attack AND doge, defend. Ranger can let the pet attack so he does not need to attack and can concentrate on defending(and attack a bit since the pet running after the player won’t get every hit… but still very effective in annoying him and slowing him and stuff). Or he can let the pet defend(if the player is stupid enough wasting his time trying to kill the pet which takes a lot of hits even for the dps pets and if you are class cannon) and attack.

Edit: Also I think guardians are only strong if they play something more like glasscannon or damage build since they can do good damage and still are able to take a ot of damage because of invulnerability skills and stuff to block and heals. If they are “bunker” only you just knock them back or knock them out of the point much faster than there cds on skills to block the knockbacks are.. then you at least uncaptuered the point(and maybe can capture it that way) and they only run around but can’t kill you because of no damage… but that depends on the class. I think someone made lists about “best capper” and stuff and engineer was mentioned at top there and they have good knockback/ launch(few gadgets, rifle and bombs) and AoE grenades and stuff.

Team mate rezz is an easy top stat even if you get only matches where you are outnumbered or other team is much stronger and the people from your team are better than you.

You only need to rez 1 downed and hope no one else is doing this(often nobody is helping).

If it was only for yourself it would be a good idea so you could optimize your builds. But shouldn’t be able to show info on party members… we alreay have people that complain about sPvP and spectator mode and that you can see other’s builds. Lol.

What the others do does not concern you. So a dps meter only for yourself and not to display info about others.

What I like:

- No WvW or PvE stuff(trebuchets, NPCs to kill)

- Map design with stairs and stuff like that so you can knock down enemies which makes it much harder for them to reach the goal than if the map was flat and they would just be knocked back the range mentioned in the description. Here they’ll lose much more time. Good for defending the orb carrier(or defending yourself it you are carrying the orb) or fighting the enemiy orb carrier. I play engineer with rifle, bomb kit, battering ram, mine. Lol.

What I don’t like:

- Can be a bit zergy around the orb. There should be 2 orbs more a bit like capture the flag or the map should be bigger and more like Foefire. Foefire would be good with 2 or 1 orb. With 2 orbs: Each base 1 orb at the lord location and then CTF-like mode where you have to guard your own orb AND get the enemy orb(and maybe still points if you lost your own orb but not that much then). 1 orb: Then it should be at mid. Would be more interesting at this map since the spawns of both teams are not next to each other and the way to mit is a bit longer. Maybe less zerg then if you can kill them and still have some time until they walked back there.

- It should be easier to take the orb. I think they increased if from 2 to 3 seconds? The 2 seconds were enough. If there are no enemies it doesn’t matter if 2 or 3. If there are lot of enemies and zerging without end then it now is almost impossible. Would be easier to get a fast cap while others are not paying attention and fighting each other. Or: Make the time even longer but make it only be affected by stuff usually stopping your rezz(you continue to rezz while taking damage but stuff like knockback or other CCs stop it I think).

Also make it take some time to pick up again after it got dropped by some downed guy. Not that much like taking it from the Alter… but there still could be like 1-2 seconds.

Maybe:

- Orb to enemy captured point should capture it instead of neutralizing it. But less points.

Points like: 30/20/10 for own/neutral/enemy captured point and always capping it for you instantly.

That sometimes is strang… and something I don’t like:

You are somewhere and fighting like 3 enemies and it takes them a lot of time to kill you and their team has 2 or 3 points captured. Shouldn’t it be then 4 vs. 2 for the other people remaining and your team being able to take the other stuff?

But then you often notice that there isn’t even a single point with swords appearing in the UI because they others are hunting somewhere else to get the kill instead of going to the points.

Temple of the Silent Storm is a good map.

There are no WvW mechanics that don’t fit into the sPvP(like the trebuchet in Kyhlo).
No PvE stuff(lord in Foefire, NPCs and lasthitting crap in Nifhel, sharks and underwater crap in capricorn). The small underwater area in Temple of the Silent Storm is fine because usually you should not need to be there.

Spirit Watch could be the same but there is MUCH to improve(that’s why everyone is complaining at the moment). But this should be talked about in another thread.

The buffs in Temple of the Silent Storm are a the best secondary objective. The 2 buffs to increase points per kill help you to get a few more points in killing. If your enemy is killing more it still might be important to get them to deny the enemy more points.

The other to buffs lead to interesting games since you need to decide if you should get them and when to move there(meaning less people at the capture points). Also the top middle buff(Stillness) which doubles (?) the points is worth a lot… somtimes more worth than the other buff bottom… if you can at least hold 1 point and get points back fast after the others take all 3. Also nice fights and use of fear, knockback and other stuff at the top buff where you can knock the enemy down into the water. And you can jump down into the water and move to gate from there.

The map design is nice. First I did not like it because I thought it was a bit confusing… but that’s with every new map. Once I played a lot of matches I got used to it. Because the usefulness of knockback and stuff like that I like it Also Spirit Watch is going into the right direction here… where you can use knockback stuff to help the orb carrier and knock someone down or knock down the orb carrier so he has a much longer way to walk back than he would if the map was flat without stairs had to walk up.

Of course if the people prefer more something like deathmatch the Foefire(personally I don’t like it) seems better. I agree with PowerBottom
“- Because of the more open Areas, it lends itself better to expermimentation with 6v6 or 8v8-Formats,”
and I always thought this was the only map made for teams bigger than 5 vs. 5.

Please stop with this king of threads. The moderators only will delete them without notice(you don’t even get a PN). Same happened with a similar thread yesterday. “Petition against Spirit Watch” or something like that.

They won’t remove it since it took hours of work for them to make the map. Better would be to make suggestions on how to improve the map(without changing much about the terrain; I don’t think they’ll remake the map completely).

Yeah. That server browser is annoying. It’s always x/20 because the spectators count to 20 and in a 5 vs. 5 you can have 10 spectators and in a 10 vs. 10 no spectators, right?

Then it should at least show the spectators and show 20/20 if there are 5 vs. 5 with 10 spectators online.

Better would be if they fixed it to show only x/10 in a 5 vs. 5 and show a “remaining spectators” slot like in () after the x/10:

Engineer Turrets Traits Broken

I agree. Health on turrets is too low. They have some nice overcharged abilities but they aren’t worth if the enemy can destroy them in a few hits.

Glasscannon hitting an engineer pet of the lower hp type class(wolf, not bear) still needs a lot of hits.

Rangers have everything. They can have a lot of survivability and do good damage and slow down enemies with their bows(long range and cripple conditions) and pets(conditions an fear or cripple depending on the pet you choose).

And the pets always have a lot of health even if they use dps pets and not a bear. Problem is the pet is very strong like there were 2 people with teamspeak fighting you together instead of 1 ranger + pet.

The problem is not that he is moving that fast. Problem are the pets. If you constantly get in matches against 3 rangers without any ranger in your team the 3 rangers can just get the orb and take on your 5 people while their other 2 people cap points since pet counts as extra warrior you can’t even kill the 3 rangers with a full team of 5.

Is there a way to easy pick up the orb if someone of your team gets downed and the orb drops? I don’t want to do revive every time? Pretty anyoing with tons of people around. Orb shoud be priority for pressing F.

Maybe it’s just not balanced and they have better fighters? 4 1 you should get every orb and if you can’t win with having 1 point captured and getting all the orbs(and other team getting no orbs but having 2 points captured) then the map is not balanced and there is no meaning of orbs(if it can’t give enough points to outmatch the 1 capture point advantage the enemy has).

Funny thing: I just saw some ranger with pet + 2 walking spirits(he must have had lots of traits in them) + rock dog. Lol. Pet can’t be that strong if they still need rock dogs and spirits.

Does not the Trading Post(Gem Store and the normal Trading Post) already use some sort of “browser”? I think sometimes in the past when there were problems I got some server error looking like a http server error.

So it probably might not be that hard to have stuff like that even for other parts of the game and make it displayable with a normal browser(so you don’t need the game client) and accessible for others.

I don’t feel lucky with that arcane converter… not “collectible” and I need to store it in my inventory or store it at bank. They should fix this and let us store it in PvP locker as collectible.

Also there are already tons of item tokens you get from salvaging the stuff from the tournament chests.

I’d prefer to get a rank token(rabbit, dolyak, deer) for the rank you are at the moment. Then I don’t need to buy that chests too…

this is too much hassle having to salvage stuff from tournament chests and then in addition to that you have to buy the rank chests from the vendor and salvage tons of stuff there(or be lucky and get all the items you need directly as drops).

They play for fun because they are not brainless people who only want to maximize their glory(which they even can’t use to buy useful stuff since there is no usefull stuff you can buy with it).

I’m not even changing builds lol. Too lazy. I just want to have some fun and if it doesn’t fit the map and I lose it’s fine. I don’t care.

But this is the next thing they should implement: Something to make it easier to switch between different builds. I think someone in some thread suggested “templates” and a dev mentioned this was a long term goal and they want to implement this sometime in the future.

Then it wouldn’t be a problem to have different maps.

Ranger should have removed F1-F4 and the pet still could randomyl attack other people. Then it would be the same as other classes. I mean he is downed… how does he want to give commands to the pet if he is downed and can’t do anything else?

If he can do stuff like shouting something to a pet to tell him to do stuff then I’m sure at engineers would be able to press a button to make the turrets use overcharged ability for example. Should not need all your physical strength and still be possible while downed.

For other classes there could be similar stuff.

If it somehow were possible… they should make it so the kills and captures from tournaments only count if you win the match. But I don’t think this is possible(at least not with changing and programming a lot of stuff) since it always counts the moment you capture or kill.

This problem is everywhere. I’ve been complaining about it for a long time. Take WvW for example. I don’t play WvW but I hear that it usually is not considered a good thing to repair walls and gates being attacked by a trebuchet but we have the achievement for using supplies(and now you get WXP for repairing) which means all the people will do useless stuff now and use all the supplies to repair.

There are a lot of useless achievements.

Wintersday capture the flag like minigame also made you play for your own achievement and not for the team win.

Easier to complete dailies there as in hotzerg 8 vs. 8 and also better than 5 vs. 5 hotzerg because your team is better and you can easier get some kills if you run with them instead of going to other places(where you might be needed more).
