Agreed. I made another thread about “boring stuff”. And this is boring…. even the scavenger hunt at halloween was better … still needed you to go collect stuff but at different places.

Problem is… I just noticed it now. If you are akitten it ports you into the match instead of letting you stay at the waypoint. That’s stupid… I mean even more helping the team. ArenaNet did not think there… and thought if they ported them into the match they’d start playing… but how if they are really afk?

I myself go akitten now sometimes if we are losing and it is already like 200 – 20. Boring and no reason to try…

Or just leaving and trying to join into another match.

Still need 1 or 2 more wins…

with about 50 percent win ratio you need 40 matches to get both achievements.

Not everyone wants to spend money. Also this is intended for everyone – there might be new players that don’t have that much gold.

100.000 candies… if you have that much money to port then just save it and buy them at the trading post. Weapon tickes you should buy the other coffers from the gem store. That’s how it is intended. That stuff should be rare.

If they wanted the holos to be farmed for candy and other stuff(and not only for achievement) they would have made them permanently active without CD.

So do you have already farmed the 300 for achievement within that 40 minutes? Then you can just stop – not needed to farm anymore. Most likely it is an attempt to help others that need to get the achievement by preventing farmers that farm only for drops to steal all the minions even if they already have the achievement.

DR should kick in much faster… or they just should remove drops completely and make them only for achievement to kill. Would solve a lot of problems imho.

Presents were much tougher mobs(also dealing tons of damage). Also the presents were visible all the time at the map/minimap.

Later everyone could do the achievement at the instanced dungeons where enough mobs spawend.

Now that even on Vabbi(low populated server) are tons of players guesting and camping good spots I decided to wait(killed 68 minions so far) until 18th.

Then completing the other stuff for meta and deciding if I still should do the minion achievement(maybe there will be other possibilities to kill them after 18th).

Don’t have time to wait and run around the map all the time cause I also want to have fun while playing(which means doing other things than the achievements which are NOT fun).

Please stop making boring stuff!

While I think Dragon Ball can be annoying if you have a bad team or akitten players it is still one of the better things that came with this patch. As I played more and learned about the skills and which balls gives which skill(making me perform better) I had more fun.

Also I’m interested in the upcoming story events/achievements – I hope these will be instanced and with (spoken/audio) dialogue like the Rox and Braham at Flame and Frost. Their solo dungones were the best ArenaNet made for Living Story so far.

But what I don’t like… what we don’t need:

Stuff that only makes us run around like launching Fireworks or destroying Dragon Pinats.

This is boring. This is not a challenge. Only a timesink. It’s not fun and there are no rewards… only the Metaachievement.

Pro: You don’t need to run for the fireworks if you use the items you can buy and get from dragon coffers… and you don’t need to to all of that stuff for the Metaachievement.

Still it is boring stuff… I know they need a few achievements otherwise it would look to empty at the category with only Dragon Ball and the Story Achievements there.

But can’t there be some other stuff? I mean even the scavenger hunt at halloween was mure fun… even though it was even more running… to other maps – at least it were different locations and different stuff instead.

Also the holo and minion killing is bad design as mentioned already in another thread. And not that different from the fireworks and pinatas – only that now you have to kill a few mobs(which is not a big challenge… but takes ages to run to enough holo projectors and without having other players stealing them… if you don’t want to use tons of money porting).

I seriously hope it is a bug. I mean even the Crab Toss achievements last event counted…
And this Dragon Ball is boring and takes long and you often get whiners and annoying people in the team(complaining about team and telling you you are noob when the are the noobs lol).

Would be bad if it wasn’t a bug and stayed like this… I mean the only reason I do this is for the achievements.

Yeah. Bad design. Yesterday I tried to wait for 1 to spawn minions and got 4 kills… will take ages waiting to get the 300… and moving around will need you to be fast and/or use waypoints(costing money).

They should at least have made it like with the chests at previous events:

Show all the locations permanently on the map so it is easier to walk between them… and not show it only if active(this makes the fast speed buffed people with lots of money port to everything and run there too fast).

Tons of more minions(best would be an event that scaled with the amount of players nearby) and faster respawn rate would also help…

or: every player can open it once and gets an individual cd… this way 5 players nearby each one could activate it and more players = more to destroy and kill.

Will We Ever See a Proper Raid/Warband UI?

They should at least make a commander party(squad) UI. Tried to join a squad 1 time and there is absolutely no reason to join… other than being able to see the squad chat(which is barely used) there is no other advantage… and you can see the commander icon without having joined the squad.

I’d prefer if there was some small UI showing names or something like that(even if there are a lot of names… maybe with scrollbar) – like a real normal party.


Also it should show all the green dots for all the people of your server in WvW on the whole map… not only people nearby. Would help much more to just look at the map without asking where people are(if there is no commander and you don’t know where to go).

How could they stun Moas? Aren’t they with green names(allied)? And not affected by skills that only affect enemies? That’s strange to have bugs like this appear… I still remember back then when Guardian in some Orr map could manipulate an allied(green name) npc at some skill point to debub it cause that skill affected him(which should not have happened I think they fixed that skill later).

Forever? Lol. This is temporary content. Dragon = related to the Dragon Bash festival so only temporary. There is more other stuff they should have made permanently available which was much better… but they did not do it. So I doubt they will make Dragon Ball permanent.

More minions for the achivement please. Waited minutes for some of that holo things to spawn and got 4 kills… and now I need to wait ages again? Will take forever if you need 300 to finish the achievement… and checking the map won’t help cause it only shows it when the holo thing goes active and you would need to run there then… but not enough tim cause others already farming. Groups of people at every spot killing them after they spawn.

I hope there is something like Wintersdays with the instanced dungeon where you could farm your toys(instead of opening chests which took longer)? Will there be something like this with a future patch?

Is this for sure? I mean if you need 100k… there should be other ways to get them and stuff you can do to get them in 5 or 10 and not only 1(or 3 from winning chest at Dragon Ball I know I got 3 from a chest there).

It’s okay… but I’m only playing it to get the achivements. The chest for winning with only 3 Zhaitaffy is not that much and I’m sure you can farm them better other ways?

They better should improve sPvP instead of always new temporary mini games that are “okay” only but not a big deal.

What’s the use of this item? I mean stats are low and you would not use it because of the stats. And there is no skin cause it is not a visible item is it? Is this only for the look of the tooltip icon(and the description)? I got only 1 then. Of the hat items like wings and cap they had for 0 gems in store earlier events I bought more.

So what about Cantha? Is there any reason to treat it worse than the other continent(Elona)?

I heard months ago NCSoft did not want Cantha because they did not want Asian stuff(aren’t they a Korean publisher and Asians themselves?)

A dev said Cantha is “not cut from the game”… so it might return… but still be treated worse than the Elona?

Or are they going to treat Elona and Cantha the same? (like for example if they are not going to give us the whole Cantha and only making a few maps then doing the same for Elona instead of doing the whole Elona and bringing tons of maps and for Cantha only a few).

Personally I think the Asian style is more interesting… and I don’t want Elona that much but I want Cantha. I would only buy an Elona addon it they promised to treat Cantha the same.

Edit: Does anyone know the MMORPG “Vanguard – Saga of Heroes”? Crappy SOE publisher and had been subscription only for a long time… and now that it finally is F2P I don’t want to play it anymore… graphics too old and their F2P model is not that good… also no PvP and focused on PvE…

But that game had awesom music and it had different continents you could explore and 3 different human races. I really liked that… started at the small Asian human continent and was fun to explore the world and see the other continentes there… they had some African/desert style human city and a european middle age like human city as well.

Edit2: So is there any other reason than some Asians that complained? And how are they going to remove Cantha from Guild Wars 1? I mean if people complained it it not enough to only not bring it back in Guild Wars 2 they also would need to remove it from Guild Wars 1 and remove all their(NCSofts) other Asian only grind games from the market.

Or… would be easier: They could just bring it back and fine tune it a bit so Asians are happy… maybe if chinese don’t like how Asians are represented change the NPCs dialogues and the politics at that continent so they are happy again… better than not let us playing that nice Asian styled setting/theme.

I’m sure more and more people at Fissure of Woe and Vabbi will leave and go to other servers… maybe ArenaNet wants to make money like this? Getting them to buy lots of gems to go to other servers.

… instead of trying to get more people to that 2 low ranked servers. But I guess nobody wants to go there… as long as it costs gems and you can’t be sure that it helps(cause you know others might leave….. and not wait until enough people are there… which might take some time and guilds switching).

Population count is based on who declared a world their home world.

But this means that every inactive player rotting in the cellar of your server still counts for your population.

Total bullkitten. Since home world/server only affects your WvW stuff the population should be decided by the average amount of players in WvW over time.

Like checking every hour how many players in total are in WvW… over a whole week(to get not wrong values if you happen to check a server at a “good time” when he usually has much less people).

Vabbi and Fissure of Woe need to be set to “LOW” giving a free transfer to them… and heavily reccomend them to new players to start there.

Same matchups are okay… I mean look at other games with different PvP stuff – usually you play on 1 server and have 2 or more different factions fighting each other there… and you are the same faction same server all the time… cause it is not servers vs. servesr.

So we should not complain. It’s better to fight at balanced matchups that won’t change that much than pwning others that can’t fight back much… not much WXP cause there is not much to fight… if you are holding everything and they are not taking it back(and then you taking it back again for WXP). Also the fights itself are boring.

Balanced is much better – balanced: Everyone controlling their home borderland and everyone controlling their keep in EB for most of the time.

Certainly not fun if 1 side controls the whole EB and even is able to build WPs at the enemies keeps and able to take home keeps at enemy borderlands.

That should be possible(it often happens)… but you it should not be that imbalanced matchups that you can hold that stuff for a long time… long enought to build the waypoints everywhere.

How does it work? Does it just randomly match you or are there max ranking or rating differences(like only matching against other servers max x ranking above or below or max x rating above or below you)?

How does it deal with servers like Fissure of Woe and Vabbi? I mean shouldn’t they always get paired against 25th ranked instead of even making it harder for them by matching them against stronger servers?

And how does it fix that problem? I’m not playing at that low ranked servers but I can’t imagine it to be fun there… I don’t even think playing against them could be fun…. not much WXP to farm if there is no one fighting back.

Shouldn’t ArenaNet aggressively try to get more players and guilds to that servers by making free transfers there and huge boni or rewards for players going there and staying there(like after 1 week giving some rewards after 2, 3, 4, 5 … weeks giving more rewards to get players to stay there longer)?

Rating difference at lowest tier ist too much. A big “jump” in the rating. The 2 lowest servers should be at 900 and 1000 not 400 and 600. This needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Afaik this has been already like this for weeks and ArenaNet failed to do something about this and know I want to know what their plans are to fix this…

I think the reward is okay… isn’t it like all the other bigger events with bonus chest you can get each day?

More incentive to play it each day(and enough people there even in a few days if others still need to do the achievement).

If they made 1 time per account(they are not that stupid to to have made it per char so others could delete and farm again… I hope) guaranteed exotic instead then everyone would have played it today and others that needed the achivement in a few days would have needed to solo everything cause nobody else playing then anymore…

I know some people write in different colors in the chat and use some “manipulated tooltip” to do so(writing in the color of the tooltip like all their text was the name of an item).

Crashing issues after patching

After tons of repairs and deleting local.dat it still found always a small few corrupted files every repair… and crashed but as I updated my drives (ATI card) it worked for me without crashes yesterday.

Might really be the driver… but then I don’t understand why it worked all the time when I did not change anything.

Maybe they changed something in the engine related to graphics which causes problems with some drivers.

I have a VerifyResults.log which said 6 bad files deleted…
Does that mean it found any corrupted files while checking the game files?

If so why did it not fix them then? I mean I ran this more than once it shows the results from last verifying but why did it not fix the stuff while verifying first? Should not show any more bad files the 2nd+ times I’m running this.

Also I heard something about the local.dat ? Like deleting this first and then trying to verify the files again? Should I try this?

Edit: I tried again with -repair and it only found 1 corrupted file. Maybe it is really needed to -repair more than once? But I did not try to play again… not said the crashes are fixed with this.

Edit2: Tried it immediately again after verifying to verify again.. and if found 1 file again(which should have been fixed the last time I ran verify).

No I don’t think memtest will help. I think there would be another error message if it was related to RAM.

I just got another crash. Can’t even get to the zerg in WvW. Every time I join WvW…

Removed some of the longer parts from the log. But I’m sending it now to ArenaNet cause it offers to send it. Did not send the last ones. The part “Error Logs” shows there are some errors in their .cpp file.

Edit: I also have crashes in PvE but not after 2-3 minutes like in WvW. Can play a bit more there. Just got a crashin Mount Maelstrom. About 30 minutes played.

Again something with missing animations / fallback stuff in the error message bus this time not .cpp file mentioned(like when I get the error in WvW) this time it was something with memory.

I have exactly the same problem. Since today…
Have not played that much yesterday but I think it has to be of some patch/update yesterday. I did not change anything at my computer and it worked fine until now.

I did not run it with “-repair” but I let it check the files after I started again(it asked because it remembered the client crashed and wanted to check files)… did this 2 or 3 times and still the same problem.

Same .cpp file.

In WvW area(shortly after joining) and after returning from the WvW Jumping Puzzle to LA it crashed. The sPvP worked fine… played 3 matches today without crash.

They somehow need to make it possible for stuff like these to be “char slot bound”. So you could delete the char and make a new char but it still remembers you did it on this char slot – not letting you farm by deleting and remaking a char. Engineer was easy – knockback and launch skills possible(rifle skill 4 or just the 5 of the mine disarm tool and mine, big old bomb, ram skills. Also the supply crate to distract him.

Not daily anymore. 1 time per account – and not repeatable daily. Did it 2 days ago with my main. Yesterday with a 2nd char and wanted to do it today with a 3rd char but it is not possible anymore. If it was daily per account or per char it would still have been possible(never did it on 3rd char and never did it today – 2nd char was yesterday).

I just tried it with tons of knockback now. Then it was easily possible to finish him without getting hit by mines and getting the achievement.

Since it seems he is not immune to knockbacks and stuff like that I used the mine, big ol’ bomb and ram on my engineer as well as the skill 5 of the mine tool. This worked.

Easier than trying to apply some conditions.

Okay. Somehow I figured it out how to get him down to about 25 percent. It seems every time you lure him into a mine that is “green”(using the mine tool at a red mine) he is taking damage and then detonating all the mines… then rearming them(yellow). You can use the tool while they are yellow but they will reset after fully rearmed and red. Then you need to use it again.

Easy. But once he is at 25 percent he is attacking really fast and knocking back a lot more and detonating/rearming often… I somehow can’t knock him into a mine anymore.

Skill 5 of the tool to knock him back seems also to make him detonate/rearm even if he is not hit by a mine.

Now I only need to figure out what to do at 25 percent and how not to get hit.

Also: If the mine is green and you stand near it you don’t take damage it seems… so this probably is okay to stand there then.

Cannach takes 5 minutes once you get used to it.

I’ve now completed it using every single class. Mezzie can cheat via confusion. A couple other classes can as well with ground targeted condition applying skills. That said, it’s so much faster to use the mines.

I though he is not taking damage by skills? So I can just use every AoE and he really is only evading directly targeted skills? Okay then it seems easy but the description sounded like he was ignoring all other damage besides mines.

Edit: And reward is probably only 1 time? If it really was farmable it would be too easy… or if it was without DR.

Did the singleplayer now… is easy but the achievement without getting hit… nearly impossible. If they at least showed the message that he is detonating traps or rearming them in the middle of the screen… I don’t pay much attention to the chat and then I’m getting hit.

Boring bullkitten and I’ll just go back do my dailiy “only doing dailiy achievements” until next weak and trying the karka queen and contracts. Not doing multiplayer or the not getting hit achievement. Lucky they are not counting to meta achievement. First time I’m not completing everything. Such a boring solo dungeon…

Ah so the people who like rewards are 14 year old children.

Yes, if they only play for rewards. It’s okay to play “for fun” and be happy if there are additional rewards. But some people are really playing only if you give them some reward. As mentioned: PvE it’s necessary cause there is no much other fun. But PvP playing against others already is fun. I mean there are people doing sports only for fun and people watching TV without getting paid or getting rewards. Same is possible with games. Why should it not be possible with games?

I am all about winning btw I want the rewards tied to winning. I would be happy with more skins, more titles, maybe a small ammount of silver for winning a match and maybe eventually some special tournament events with gem rewards. Its not really a whole lot and I don’t know why some people seem to have a stick up there butts in opposition when its brought up.

We already have the glory. Is enough for now. They should try to fix all the tons of bugs first(tournament reward chest bug and bug with tournament reward points not counting towards the title and account medal). Make more maps or bring at least back Spirit Watch into rotation and make a random map rotation or different queues(so we can chose the map).

That’s absolutely necessary first cause the game is not even fun at the moment… even if you make tons of rewards it won’t help if they don’t fix that stuff first. Rewards should be lowest priority on their list. Of course I’m not against them. I don’t need them but I’m not against rewards if they put them on low priority and bring them after fixing the important stuff.

But that important stuff should be first… and they are slow… rewards might something we can talk about in 1-2 years if they are taking that much time to fix stuff already reported months ago.

Teamwork = Play 1-2 matches to get the (now easier because they use the old system) dailies except the one for played matches.

Then join a 3rd match and stay afk and let your “team do the work”(=teamwork).

Just get 100-200 points each tournament match + the 100 reward average from the chest you will have 300. But not possible since you have to play for win there which means you are not getting 100-200 every time.

And then the reward from chest is not counting to the titel and account medal(other bug somewhere mentioned and not fixed yet). I’m 25 and still deer at account medal.

So hotjoin is better if you care about rewards.

But personally I don’t care about rewards because I’m one of the few players that play for fun mainly. In PvE rewards are fun but in PvP the competition itself is fun and winning. That’s why WvW is boring and needs rewards… cause there is no “winning”. You just win at the end of the week when you are not even online and played only a small amount of the whole “match”.

PvP you play the whole match since it’s only max 15 minutes and a win itself feels nice. Needs no other rewards.

Of course there are people that need rewards… like teh 14 yo children that need such stuff to say to their friends "look i have the “uber mega killer pwner title”. Ha ha but I don’t belong to that mentally kitten 14 yo without brain. I play for fun…

but problem: It is not that much fun… hotjoin(and Custom Arenas since they are like hotjoin) is boring. This only leaves me tournaments. But there I don’t like 50 percent of the maps and always need to wait if a kittenty map is in rotation since they haven’t got this fixed yet to make at least random map or even better different queues for different maps so you could chose your map. Foefire at the moment… I love it to lose 90 percent of the matches on this crappy worst map ever made.

And taking out Spirit Watch for no reason… they could just have left it and people that did not like it could have waited a few days… like I have to wait a few days until Foefire is out and next map is playing.

Precursors should be rare. It’s fine if they cost several hundreds of gold at the trading post… because I don’t need a legendary and should I have luck and get a precursor as drop I’d just sell it and would be able to get enough gold to trade for gems to buy more char slots without having to buy gems.
