Machiavell.7396

Let’s not forget that all HoT really adds will basically just be a new area and a new class.

Someone else posted this in another thread.. Looks like we are getting more then a new area and class. Nice try though

- Core Specs Rehauled
- New Specializations
- New Weapon Skills
- New Post lvl 80 leveling system
- Rumored 5 maps of content
- New Legendaries
- New Wallet
- New Guild Halls
- New Class
- New Armor Skins
- New Weapon Skins
- New Races to go lore nutz about
- New Boss Battle with Mordey (Hopefully better than Zhaitan)
- New WvW map
- New sPvP mode

Almost all that you listed is actually added to base game for everyone. Pure HoT additions are:
- Revenant
- 9 new specializations
- new area
- new legendaries
- some new skins
- new story to play

The rest you listed is included for every basic GW2 account.
And the problem behind uproar is not about content amount, but the LACK of buying upgrade only, FAW fraud “base game needed to play” (was changed ninjastyle quickly), and lack of any appretiation to veterna players, not even giving tham 1 godkitten mere kittylicious character slot…

Compared to content base game has – expansion is just mere map, part of story to play, new class and specializations for old classes, really small content for 50$. Not even new slot for veteran players, and FAQ said it WILL NEED base game to play HoT, now they changed it stealthly, effectively scamming people who bought game especially for expansion.

This is dirty marketing move and totally unrespective to community base, should be brought to light as much as possible because it’s close to a fraud.

Language portuguese

Machiavell.7396

What I meant is that english was chosen by most countries for various reasons, also because it’s actually one of easiest languages to learn grammar. Best example is Netherlands, when I was spending my vacations there I had no problem with communicating, those people in 90% know english, also willingly learn french, without moaning and whining that France should learn dutch instead.

Chinese is not that easy to speak or learn, is most used language only because of population as you know, so your example makes no sense.

Spanish is more used than english but not because it was better in terms of usefulness but because english native speaking countries took it as their foreign language, because of Spain, Mexico and all this and that. To feel equal mostly, like we learn their native language, so they learn spanish because it’s nice to know foreign language. This example by you also makes no sense therefore.

That doesn’t change the fact that majority of world actually learns english even as required foreign language, and second foreign you can choose yourself.

Therefore, there is no need to introduce new languages to every online game as it can also create problems with communication on megaservers later on.
We all learned english or are learning, new people can also then, no easygoing and no being lazy, time to become open for world once instead of requiring handicap of own native languages and kittening other people off by own stubborness about native languages. Won’t say details but some countries proved perfectly that refusing to learn english annoys us in the end heavily.

I don’t want to sound nationalistic or anything, but I think it will sound a little rude. I’m not native english speaker, I’m from slavic origin country so even twice as hard to understand germanic origin languages which english is also one of. In my opinion if english was chosen as multinational language to communicate between countries, it’s YOUR and MINE job to learn it to level where you can understand games / movies / tourists. Therefore I am extremely against adding more languages to Guild Wars 2, seeing as french and spanish players already make too much of a problem after megaservers were introduced.

Learn english, move on. Portuguese bad.

Yes, all weapons should have own model when thrown. But legendaries should add their effects to it, which actually they currently do ;p

I think limitation of projectile diversity is because of optimization in the end, game will only use 2 (3 coz marjory dagger and axe DO change projectile) skins for every skill, in huge zerg you will either see normal axes flying, or frostfangs.

Back to subject, Juggernaut is missing projectile effect entirely!

Machiavell.7396

Hello,
After Stress Test and getting to play Revenant a little me and many other players spotted that skill 1 on hammer is not replaced by Juggernaut’s model or any effect. After taking a while to test it out in current game’s version I found the cause of it.

Using a warrior with equipped Juggernaut and getting downed in pvp match by a friend who was ranged I started to basically throw stones at him, as opposed to Predator or legendary Greatswords, The Juggernaut does not change projectile effect at all, so there is the cause for missing effect for Revenant.

Warriors and Guardians up to this point didnt had any projectile skills on hammers so this was basically overlooked in design, I would like to point it out.

I’m sure it’s not too much of work to just add this effect to The Juggernaut and have it out of head before HoT kicks in.

Thanks in advance.

This is collectionception. 3 collections to make 1 precursor seems like overdoing it, just make 1 collection that requires various stuff from all 3, why would we need to go from collection to collection like we already go from bag through bag?

Because each collection rewards a weapon skin

Like they couldn’t just make it in 1 collection, where you just have 8 items, go MF, make it into 2 items, add 2 more and get 1st weapon skin that unlocks in collection and then you just carry on, really there is no need for 3 collections for precursor. Remember that there is (guessing only) around 15 types of weapons, multiply it by 3 because of triple collectionception, then multiply by 2 because of new set of precursors for each weapon type. 90 different tabs in our new “Legendary Journey collection achievement” tab… Seriously no…

[Suggestion] Better Map Exploration

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Machiavell.7396

Machiavell.7396

When I was doing map completion I was level 80 before i even stepped into zones of 70-80. Therefore missing experience from waypoints wouldn’t make anyone go and make events out of need. And it’s not all about waypoints as they are but overall game’s situations, like going to dungeon or guild missions, even world bosses when waypoints are missing despite you having lvl 80 and full gear already from various sources. It blocks alts joining on activities with guild, makes it needed to go on only certain few chars who have map completion high enough to be part of these events and dungeons.
And maps on new chars would not be 0% simply, but this magical 13% or so that waypoints alone give, easy as that. It would make map exploration maybe 1h faster overall coz you still need to go to poi, vista, skillpoint that is locked no matter how close to waypoint it is. But it solves being limited to certain heroes on account to enjoy activities with friends on whichever class you feel like at the time. One day you will understand, when you stop sitting on SW entire days and actually go somewhere else xD

[Suggestion] Better Map Exploration

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Machiavell.7396

Machiavell.7396

Hello fellow players,
For some time it bugs me and I finally decided to write this suggestion on forums.
Map Exploration and uncovering should be account-wide, basically it needs to be uncovered for account as a whole with toggeable option “show/hide higher level areas/waypoints”, to enable new heroes on account being less lost (not that i ever was a problem imho though).
Every waypoint needs to be account-wide and locked to area level -5, it’s logical calculation just incase someone wants to go to Orr on lvl 75 and such.

The rest of objectives (vista, PoI, skillpoint, hearts) should still be as they are, to enable getting new map completion and gifts of exploration.

Thank you for your time

I have better idea, waypoints should be account-wide and level locked, so for example you need to be level of area -5 to get to certain waypoint. Rest of objectives like Vistas, skillpoints, points of interrest and hearts should be obviously still character based. Basically world map should be uncovered for entire account, not character because honestly speaking after 3 times done just to have freedom of teleporting, it became too much of a hassle and im crying in corned when my class XYZ have small map uncovered despite being lvl 80 coz of tomes and whatnot…

Hobo Sacks: A Terrible Fashion Statement

in Engineer

Posted by: Machiavell.7396

Machiavell.7396

@ Machiavell: If that were so, somebody would’ve mentioned it earlier, oddly enough, considering that this has been a thorn in the side of Engineers since beta. From what I hear, the Charr was a Warrior, and Flamethrower is already an Environmental Weapon in Southsun, at least – if an event involves Flamethrowers, odds are they’re not going to limit their access to Engineers. Also, given people’s tendency to latch on to stupid, stupid things, they probably wouldn’t demonstrate that an event uses flamethrowers by showing an Engineer with a flamethrower; they’d have a lot of dumb people saying a lot of dumb things about how it’s implied that only Engineers can contribute to the thing, just because Flamethrower is already something Engineers have access to.

Trust me. As soon as they declare that ‘the hobosack is dead, long live the hobosack,’ the Hobosack threads will stop dead, with the final posts being “HOLY CRAP THEY DID IT,” “About freakin’ time,” “aw, I liked the hobosacks,” and me going “…You know, I really didn’t expect that to happen. Guess I gotta pony up for two copies of HoT now, huh.” Implications don’t do the trick, though.

If you use environmental flamethrowers you get a hobosack even on a warrior and guardian and even a necromancer. My point still stands.

During HoT reveal it was stated already that Specialization will be straight upgrade and boost to our classes, with new this and that, including weapon and mechanic of class being altered but not totally changed. It was also stated that every new expansion will bring new specializations, making a choice then. Till that happens, every druid will be fully working ranger with all ranger traits and weapons and additional staff and some new skills + new mechanic about pet. DONE. You dont loose anything by becoming a Druid, till next spec will be added, then you will need to choose. It was stated officially on reveal during PAX and end of discussion.

Legendary Weapons - an appeal to ArenaNet

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Machiavell.7396

Machiavell.7396

+1, I totally agree. THIS is why I never invested in a legendary. It wasn’t cause of the precursor, it was because anyone and their brother can have one by dumping cash into gems then converting to Gold. IMHO that is a small version of Pay 2 win. Which GW2 was never about.

Pay 2 Win is when your real currency from credit card becomes a way to pursue power and advantage in game with new skills, better items, 100% precursor rate from MF and such. Legendaries do not provide enough power themselves to call them p2w. In this case it’s more like Pay 2 Showoff, if you are using dollars, euros and so on.

Legendaries like Moot, Dreamer, Quip and Minstrel indeed do not fit the style of GW2, like someone said above, should have been April Fool’s joke skin instead. Other legendaries imho are quite good in their design and not too flashy at all.

Last thing I would like to add is, legendaries should have a “flavor text” depicting what they are, what they represent, if they were legendary weapons copied by us, or maybe they became legendary after we crafted them?

Will specialisations backfire?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Machiavell.7396

Machiavell.7396

Okay since people are divinded into ten fractions now, I will explain what was said mostly during PAX, using Druid as example:

1. We have a ranger, with his mechanics, weapons, traits, utilities and ultimate.
2. We specialize as Druid.
3. We retain ALL of ranger class skills and such.
4. We get additional utilities, traits, weapon and probably upgraded pet mechanic.

As for HoT every class will have only 1 specialization, meaning that it’s sheer upgrade without losing anything. With every next expansion or feature pack we will get additional choices, THEN we will think which to use, as for now, everyone will simply upgrade their class for additional effectiveness.

Welcome to the Traders’ Guild, Unseen Locker [Unsl] !
We want to create a trading community for everyone, specializing with goods of many kinds, from skins and minis, to precursors and legendaries. We also want to announce Ministers Waypoint in Divinity’s Reach as our beloved place for chilling, trading and shouting your offers, next to the guild chat of course. Don’t wait, join our community and seek great offers today! We do not require representing at all times. On the long term we plan to use our funds to organize various lotteries with hot rewards!

RULES:
1. Do NOT deposit items / gold without contacting Leader Mediator about the trade you agreed on with another player.
2. Price agreement needs to be made BEFORE contacting a Leader Mediator.
3. Every trade is recorded with Fraps.
4. If trade is not completed for any reason, both parties receive their items back, no fee is paid.
5. Trade mediating applies only to trades with a price agreement of 100g and higher.

NON-MEMBERS HOW TO:
1. Seller and Buyer should be in the same party, having an agreement on price.
2. Contact a Leader Mediator with a whisper to join your party.
3. In the party chat, the seller writes the price and links the item(s) to be sold.
4. Leader Mediator calculates 5% fee that needs to be paid by the seller.
5. Both parties will send the item(s) and gold to the Leader Mediator.
6. Leader Mediator puts item(s) and gold into guild’s 1st bank tab for both parties to see.
7. Leader Mediator will remind both parties about making a screenshot of ready to be made trade.
8. Leader Mediator mails items to corresponding players, effectively finishing the trade.

MEMBERS HOW TO:
Only difference is that after contacting Leader Mediator and agreeing to trade, item(s) and gold can be deposited directly into guild’s bank, without need of initial mailing.

Spinal Backpiece Suggestion

So after fighting plenty of Watchknights in Lion’s Arch… I can’t help but to wonder why our Spinal Backpieces do not work in same manner, watchknights move them according to what they are doing, yet we not.
When watchknight is walking slowly, blades are folded down, every hammer attack also makes them move accordingly just to make it look better.

Now this was my personal sadness about all the wings, and spinal backpiece now, they are static and flap around like crazy at all times, why not make backpieces more action based? Changing when you run, jump, walk, attack. One fixed behaviour for attacks with all weapons (like folded down) would work for all classes like this.

Is it because races have different weapon swing animations, the reason of us getting always simple animated stuff on our backs instead of more polished one?

About replacements, all of these sets should get skins updated, (if ANet values income that is), because current medium and heavy sets were recieved poorly aswell, not only reskins but also resking of armors that are ones of worst looking models in game so far.

I would suggest replacing current:
Light set into Winged or anything really that looks well (and there are plenty).
Medium I have no idea at all, only trenchcoats to choose from, Assassin’s is cultural so out of question.
Heavy has some nice skins, like orrian, there is some room to good ideas.
