It seems more common now to just take keeps that aren’t on your BL or your own section of EB just for quick ppt. It doesn’t seem like people defend “foreign” keeps (keeps that aren’t on your own BL or your own section of EB) as well/as much, but I partially blame the orange sword change for that. It seems people defended “foreign” keeps much better in the past. I guess 15 mins of having a keep (25 pts – 1 tick of 25) is better than nothing. I could also be completely wrong, but I’ve seen several times when I’ve been playing that “foreign” keeps do not stay in the hands of the server that just took it for very long, a lot of the time due to lack of defense.

Well dang. I guess that’s ok. With the clock change, I needed to be sure to not stay up too late, lol. I have enough of a hard time waking up in the moring, lol. I shall check out FA BL tonight though. It seems there’s been some good action there this week. I mean EB was relatively fun, but I feel like I don’t get much done on EB, and the other borderlands, FA didn’t have much of a presence. Looking forward to checking our BL out tonight though. Game has been out for ~6 months, and it still feels like beta due to broken events, WvW not having any significant updates, ANet going against their manifesto, grind continues to get worse, etc.

Maybe if they had similar rewards for defending, that might be better. Another reason people let defense events fail is because if they restart, its more exp, karma, silver since a defense event is generally one event and a offensive event is usually a larger chain. Take the gates of Arah for example..defending is 1 event, you get standard karma, exp and silver. If you let it fail and it restarts from Shank Anchorage, you get the defense of Anchorage event, collect scrap metal for Dexa event, defend Scholar Didi event where she summons a golem, help Angaria signal reinforcements (usually fails), seize the steps of the promenade, capture the hall of of the promenade, and defeat the high risen wizard.

Defense – 1 event, no chest
Offense – 7 events, large chest (that didn’t drop a rare for me last night and several others strangely)

If they made defending on par with the rewards of those 8 events, then it might be worthwhile to actually do it. I don’t think the loot drops are even on par, since you kill less foes. I personally enjoy doing that chain over and over again, as opposed to defending, since there’s more things to do in the chain than the one defensive event.

EB last night was pretty fun. After running into a very strange commander from GODS on TC BL, I decided to try a different map and went to EB (wasn’t queued, wanted FA BL but queued). Ran into some nice sized Kaineng zergs at Umber/Duritos. People going after the grub when we are losing objectives = fail, however…

Ah, but you should have seen how long people had been talking about GW2 inside of GW1. So long that it had become an inside joke that GW2 was merely a myth, and at best would be another expansion of GW1.

Oh, I’m aware. At this point, I would of preferred a 2nd GW in GW1’s style. I mean, WvW is a blast, but the rest of the game, getting boring and increasingly grindy.

I agree with your entire post. If normal players aren’t going to be given the correct party UI tools, then at least commander should. No need to get sarcastic. I was just making an observation. Well defended keeps should last longer than an hour, if you really care to keep them. -shrug- Look how long each team’s keep usually lasts in EB – several hours. So yes, relatively speaking, 1 hour is not a long time. If you’re just going for some quick PPT, then yes, an hour is a decent amount of time to have a keep (1 tick of 25 per 15 mins = 4 ticks of 25 for an hour or 100 points). Yes, I’m fully aware keeps can go down in 15 mins or so, but that USUALLY involves pvdoor or very few defenders.

Too high. 15 would of been a better number. This kinda hurts small groups because the enemy will see white contested swords and bring a large force at times, due to the objective being contested anywhere from 1-24 players. This happened a couple times to small groups I was in the past week. 5 of us attacking a tower/camp, get stomped by 20+ opponents.

I think that grub video is my favorite WvW video. Most WvW videos are just the same thing really, but that was actually pretty unique. GJ capturing that.

Maybe I should do the same thing – restart a server without telling anyone in my department at work…maybe the domain controller – yeah, that wouldn’t be problematic at all.

Man this is so true.. Even in T1, the disparity between the pure wvw servers (BG and JQ) vs servers that are more PvX is becoming more and more unhealthily imbalanced. The whole wvw needs a major overhaul so that it doesn’t feel dated and unimpressive. It’s gotten old really fast especially when the rewards aren’t even worth doing wvw in the first place.

WvW updating incoming – hopefully it will help.

This shall be a rather interesting matchup. Hopefully Kain won’t be left out too much, because I’m sure TC and FA have a score to settle with each other. ;P

Necros are a pain to kill. They do no damage but have a ton of hp. Its like trying to kill a brick.

Don’t forget DS. :P Its like a second life bar for us necros. I’ve made a build that has 20 pts into SR and well, DS stays up for a long time.

I’m curious to see how SoS does in T3… it hasn’t fallen very far behind from the other servers in T2 (at least, it’s not as lopsided as it is with the current T3 match-up). Then again, Yaks is moving up and Mag down – a blessing and a curse. Are SoS people nice?

This is purely opinion on the question you asked, do not take it as fact. The remaining people of SoS have very good sportmanship, but some of the ones that had come to the server to bring them to tier 1 and then left SoS for BG after SoS lost 2 weeks, are not (they may have gotten better because I don’t think BG would deal with that kind of crap). They had this really bad forum warrior on SoS but he is on BG now and doesn’t post as much – even some SoS people got tired of him and were glad to see him go (again, based on observation, not fact). This is what I have observed and my opinion on the matter. The SoS that are around now seems very civil and a fun opponent. You will probably have a good time with them.

My favorite trident is Malachidean (picture attached). It’s an Exotic and has a really cool Orca/Killer Whale design with a purple glow effect. I get asked about it all the time when using it – I guess most folks don’t know about it. It’s not expensive on the TP (3G).

It was tough, and I’m sure those in that TC zerg knows it. Surely, this guy could show a little more respect.

From the look of that screenshot, you are lying on the floor long after the battle is over and you have no visible allies there to rez you. Which means you are either corpse scouting, or waiting for a stealth rez, both tactics at least as unsavory as corpse-dancing.

I normally limit emotes to simply /bow or /salute after a good fight while roaming. Laying around a inside keep/tower after a battle is clearly over waiting for a rez, or trying to act as a scout, are the exceptions in my opinion.

Ehh, I sometimes stay dead in a camp/outside of a tower (don’t think of done it in a keep yet) because I’m contemplating what went wrong, or I just go mentally afk/literally go afk because I get annoyed, but then end up coming back a few mins later. I don’t call that corpse camping, I call it “Ok, how could that had been prevented?” or “What just happened? That was ridiculous – gonna take a few min breather, before I get annoyed.” Haha.

Like early in our matchup, a small group of us (guild I’m in and another small guild) were cata’ing a tower and all of a sudden, there were like 20-30 SoS on us (lol culling) and we got wiped in seconds. It was hilarious, but it also made my mind go into wtf mode, so I took a little bit of time just sitting there dead. That really does not happen that often, since I run in small groups, so it caught me by surprise – I was lol’ing though.

I noticed I had trouble taking a supply camp this morning .. I have never had a problem before and have taken many supply camps by myselft— this time I was downed 2 times I was not sure if it was a mesmer nerf or the camp guys got a buff.

I’ve seen this npc’s health lower than 100% during buff. Supposedly retaliation does this. Not 100% sure on that.

As for the krait/quaggan camp, I’ve soloed it on a necro.

That crystalline dust that I rarely get out of heavy loot bags is pretty delicious actually. Sprinkle it on jelly donuts – wait, I hate jelly donuts.

All hail the mighty cliff! It’s hilarious when a Ranger uses the LB #4 to shoot an enemy off a cliff. Most people don’t expect a Ranger to use one, so the second it happens I laugh so hard because they hit the ground and I get that lovely exp.

I get close using my shortbow, then i weapon swap and use LB #4… I’m sure the enemy is all like “WTF?! He was using a SB!”

LOL! This could really work well if you have the twin longbow skin to your shortbow, since shortbows are just shorter versions of longbow skins in most cases.
