I think everyone should seriously consider this move and contemplate the positive aspects. You can’t be a winner if you’re not number one and there is only one number one!
Don’t you want to move somewhere and be number one by default? You won’t even have to DO anything.
Actually, I’m pretty sure you have to work hard to stay at #1. The second sentence is not true. Not trying to derail, but saying to possible recruits that they won’t have to do anything being #1 might make them turn away. I would think people would want to join the #1 NA WvW server to, you know, actually play and have to do something to help keep that #1 position. :P Just saying. If that was sarcasm, ignore this post.
Unless you play during >SEA< (not oceanic which has the east coast aussies) times please do not comment about this. I’ve gone up JQ night after night with the almighty FOO and DC providing muscle and coordination as well as many other guilds able to lock down and take soft targets (EMP, Maw, etc) and their pressure is extreme. We only really had MERC for muscle and AFS and militia. Don’t get me wrong though, I love the competition, each moment was an uphill battle that has kept this game alive for me. However, the nights we didn’t have a commander on were usually the nights where NA’s would be waking up to T3 JQ keeps on SoS bl.
It was a tremendous pressure to hold down our borderlands each night versing that organisation. Imagine having a t3 bay, but they’re trebbing from vale. Inside vale they’ll have a dozen manned ballista’s and a 60 man zerg idling around those trebs with supply constantly being run in small teams. Counter trebbing is rarely an option because they will have 8+ ele’s ready to swirl in multiple locations. Front on pushes result is getting mowed down. Stealth/Render/Portal bombs gain us some ground but once again we only get a small window to damage the seige because of the patience of their zerg to stand around trebs. Why not play defensive? well we often end up doing this to delay the inevitable, but they’ll have a theif/ranger tapping on every waypoint for the entire night so it’s a long run back and those yaks, well you can forget about them. They have mastered zugzwang in an MMO and kudo’s to them for doing so. Of course, they’re not unstoppable, we’ve had a lot of victories, even if that means just holding 190-220ppt but it’s a heap of stress doing so. We’ve come up with some pretty hilarious tactics to counter them as well, including our suicide chain portal bomb from citadel which allowed us to kill 9 trebs and turn the momentum back in our favour, despite the many deaths.
With the arrival of ND for IoJ, this stress has been lifted. While you may say SoS has amazing coverage and that anyone who joins us is a bandwagon I can assure you that you are wrong. Their arrival gives us much needed breathing room so that our commanders don’t have to tag up for 8+ hours each night. I strongly encourage more guilds to join the tier 1 bracket regardless of server and give the true feeling of WvW, a constant massive battle. No guild should feel that their absence will cripple the rest of the server; only that their presence will push for victory.
I’m a little confused. Was this a video from this week? I’m assuming not since the garrison is blue and that tower is green, and the JQ invaders are also green. What happened to staying relevant to the current week’s battle if this is a video from post New Year’s week? >_>

People talk about SoS’s great coverage, when I start going into other servers BL’s and NOT seeing the outmanned buff then I will start agreeing with you.
as of right now. outmanned in BG BL and JQ BL, no queues in our BL or EB. we’re so massive.
for the supposed giant of WvW who uses just zerg tactics being outmanned in places that aren’t just EB and our own BL doesn’t quite live up to the reputation.
The next few weeks will reveal a lot (especially after 1/28). If SoS ends up winning consistently with a 100k-200k point lead, I’m not sure I’ll want to get into WvW regularly, because, while I do want to play for a challenge, that isn’t a challenge, that’s being farmed for badges. I am not willing to be farmed. I am not a Orrian undead.

Wok, I’ve ran into many HzH people the average amount I’ve done WvW. You all are also very commendable players. Ben Sheets is a really good commander, and I always look forward to grouping up with him whenever I see him on the map. I’ve known of HzH since Factions days (owners of the house for as long as I can remember) so its very enjoyable seeing you all and fighting alongside you in WvW.
Also, Kurzick represent! I was a Kurzick since day one of Factions. I hope we get to see House Zu Heltzer in the Cantha chapter, and here’s to the legacy of your guild’s great community.
This would be funny if it worked – does whirling defense on ranger reflect WvW siege? I know it reflects risen catapaults in PvE, so curious if it works in WvW.
MagiKarp, that’s what I’ve kinda started doing. Blueprints are a waste to me since I currently do not play WvW as much as I maybe could, so I just offer them up to commanders (which I just learned to do, since I thought they were account bound and could not be dropped). I feel its a way of helping out when I can’t or don’t want to WvW. I just need to run the JPs daily, which is sometimes frustrating, lol.
I may do more WvW once I get my necro to 80 and equipped. I can’t really get into ranger for WvW. Ranger has and always been PvE character for me, so I make my builds and armor as such, whereas Necro is usually my PvP character (its all I used my necro for in GW1 towards the 2nd half of the 7 yrs the game was out before 2 came out).
I don’t think anyone is giving up. Will it happen down the road? Who knows. I was just commenting on your server’s coverage, which is not the first time its being mentioned in this thread.
Edit – Re-read MagiKarp’s and response to MagiKarp posts on page 2. My bad, it seems like you all have 24 hr coverage due to the time dedication you all put in, which most likely is better than the time dedication JQ/BG put in. How many hours do you all put in on an average day?
@Cirus – You’re right, I do not know as much about everything WvW as I maybe could? Sorry for even posting and going off information based on this thread. I have to balance the few hours per day I do play between PvE and WvW. I like doing as much as I can complete in an MMO, and well, PvE is unfortunately the best way to make money in this game, since if you go fulltime WvW, you generally spend more than you can make (and you need money to do the high-end PvE crap or else you spend hours farming). When I WvW though, I try my best not to be a random pug (my current guild is on FA, so no guild on JQ really), I follow my commanders and participate like any other WvW’er should.
So now SoS truly almost has 24/7 coverage. Awesome. Large NA, large Oceanic, now Asians. All you need is a large Euro presence and you’re set.
All set for boredom! Yaaaaay!

Pure scoreboard zergling mindset right there. You’d rather each 3 servers pvdoor in 3 seperate timezones and call it a fair fight.
From our perspective, we’ve just gave t1 a Never Die v FOO v Thai+Nine Dragons fight in these timezones.
That my friend is what the game is about, great action. Get your head out of the scoreboard for a second and you might realize that.
Won’t it be PvDoor for SoS when the other servers lack coverage? I’m pretty sure JQ has little to no Oceanic presence, good NA presence, not sure on Asian or Euro presence (FOO would actually be JQ’s Asian presence IIRC – correct me if I’m wrong). I can’t comment on BG, since I don’t know their spread.
Actually, isn’t it fairly easy to tell when its PvDoor for a server when the pie is 85%+ one color? You can’t tell me there’s interesting fights for you guys when the pie is 85-95% SoS, which it has been a few times this week.

The point of WvW is not to run away during battle. Usually, you run when your keep/tower is for sure going to be taken over, at which point, it is then ok to jump off the wall and run. If you don’t like dying, why are you playing WvW?
Maybe this has already been answered, but will we still get the karma jug, mystic coin, and chance at a random item from the gem store (transmutation stones, black lion salvage kit, etC) in addition to the crown tokens?
I’m still trying to determine if MF combined with my poor luck is worth it. In the early levels of fractals, I would have MF gear on during the trash mobs, and put on good armor for the bosses. Sure, I got some rares (which I get still with no MF gear) but I didn’t find one vial of condensed mist essence. During a later fractal, I just said screw it and went with my normal armor set. Probably ~10 mins after making that decision, I got not 1 but 2 vials (my first 2), and with my MF gear, never got 1 vial, so yeah, MF seems overrated. MF seems to do ok with the Orr events or crafting material farming. Yesterday in the lvl 10 daily fractal, I got 5 rares and wasn’t wearing any MF, so yeah, its overrated for dungeons IMO.
Just came in to read this and wondered. does anyone else notice that BG isn’t complaining about 2v1….
However, there are like 100000 post from JQ saying “Omg 2v1 always happens, welcome to T1 BG”…. SoS hasn’t seemed to say anything on it.
I found one person who mentioned a 2v1 from BG but they weren’t even complaining about it. They were talking about what a great fight they had…

No there was not anyone defending because they took everyone they had into Vale to try and take bay. Which left briar ripe for the picking.
So JQ didn’t own bay or Vale at this time either, so we took away from Briar to take back bay? I’m asking because I would have thought that JQ owned bay all of last night.
So what happened at red briar tonight. I left around 9 PM EST and BG was continually using breakout to try to take red briar from us (JQ) on JQ BL. With latest score update, I see SoS owns red briar. What happened with BG?

This is one of the most funnest posts I have seen in this thread. I am not going to lie, SoS did lose to JQ during the first week of January. It was won fair and square, but it does so happen that most of our main WvW players were not doing WvW during that time period due to spending time with family, which may or may not have contributed to the loss.
Can we stop talking about this please? SoS was not the only server on holiday that week – it was New Year’s for a large part of the world. I’m sure a lot of servers got affected in this way, and not only in Tier 1. Can we just stop kittening talking about SoS’s one loss/one of JQ’s few wins. It was 2 wks ago. I am asking this of everyone in this thread, including JQ people. I am really getting sick and tired of hearing about it.

I hope they don’t do this. We don’t need more PvE reasons to have to be forced into WvW. The JPs are enough. I do like WvW though, but don’t want to have to feel the need to work on PvE crap while in WvW.
5 tokens for obsidian shard? I can get into that. I’d rather go back and do things in other zones than have to do either fractals or event farm Orr to get shards. Looking forward to these features.
Hopefully we can also buy lodestones with tokens….I know wishful thinking.
The more important question is " Who is going to replace BG in 2 weeks time"
Let’s be honest here, doesn’t matter who from T2 moves up. No server in T2 even has EU or Oceanic coverage to compete. They are all NA prime servers and you cannot win t1 with just NA prime. SoS is the dominant server and will continue to be for the forseeable future until they get bored.
Yeah, with the upcoming features and maybe rewards coming to WvW in February, I doubt SoS will get bored anytime soon.
There was one place, one mission that was infamous for being the death of pugs, where rage and tears were as common as the snow around them and where monks were treated as gods:
Thunderhead keep
This f’ing 15x over. It was great, while pugs were qq’ing about this, the guild I was in was stomping thru this mission over and over again. It became our guild’s favorite mission. We did the bonus every time.
THK was definitely my favorite mission.
I also liked Vizunah Square (yeah I’m crazy) because it was such a cluster-f. Eternal grove was pretty awesome too. Frost Gate was another good one, although rage-inducing at initial launch of GW. Riverside Province was awesome (soloed normal mode + bonus on a ranger way back in the day). Iron Mines was fun mainly because of infusion run (way better than GW2’s version of infusion). Dasha Vestibule and Dzagonur Bastion were fun too.
I was just trying to do the main Harathi event chain, and at the part after you take down the gate and have to defend 3 seraph, it failed because players were letting the seraphs die by not attacking the centuars and reducing the modniir offensive strength. The players responsible claim its because it was preventing them from getting good xp (this game’s lvling is not hard at all). As opposed to letting the event just finish, they let it fail and have it reset back to defending the camps. I wanted the event chain to continue, but you know, can’t really fend off large groups of centaur with no support when the event is scaled up due to players not doing anything.
I don’t really care, but this is definitely a form of event griefing and felt it should be communicated about because the manifesto said there was going to be no form of griefing, and this is an example of such griefing.
Yeah, I know there’s a crapton of events in this game, but I was looking for a quick way to get my 5 daily events done. A large chain, imo, is the best way to do it, and I happened to be in the area for PS.
I’ve been saying that charged lodestone and onyx lodestone drop rates are off, but I always get shot down by other players when I mention that on the forums. Good to see people are finally realizing that the charged lodestone drop rate is pretty terrible.
In the story part of the hero panel, if you go through the personal story parts, you sometimes see an item above the story text. For my human, one of those items is a costume slot item, but I cannot figure out how to collect these story items.
Are we supposed to be able to? If so, can someone please enlighten me on how to get them? I’ve tried double-clicking the item. I don’t see a “take items” button or anything, so completely lost.
My best experience in the EB JP, SBI guardian or warrior pauses in front of me and I pause in front of her, and we continue on our way. Indirect mutual agreements to not attack each other are always nice.
SoS, you crazy! How do you get up for school or work going to bed at 2 am? Oh wait…I goto bed between midnight and 1 am and get up for 7 am shift. Yeah, I’m a little crazy too.

The one that sticks our the most is where the BG forum warriors keep saying that JQ isn’t a T1 server, despite out accomplishments. I read your T2 threads…you guys seem to be obesessed with JQ; and we are talking T2 threads from 4…5…6 weeks ago (not including weeks 3..2…1). You just want to boot us out because we are weak, and you guys are a true T1 server.
So, according to your forum warriors, we don’t belong. We ride the success of the 1st place team…if that makes any sense. Terrible logic. But let’s humor this * backwards logic….How come no one else can do it? Gotta be good to do it/be competitive/stay in the game with SoS to even “ride in their success”.
But, we are just a T2 team according to the BG posters here. I’m sure you’ll say “nuh uhhhh!” History/forum history says otherwise.

I dunno Neo, the same type of people that wouldn’t honor a duel are probably those same people that simply won’t let one single person pass their zerg without retribution. You know how annoying getting POIs, Vistas and Skill Points because of that are? Its not only JQ and BG, I’m sure people on your server are also at fault of this (which I know for a fact – SoS isn’t the good-natured server that you’re indirectly claiming it to be). Its the nature of WvW. You go to WvW to have a large scale battle, not 1v1 or 30v1.
That being said, I have gotten used to getting ganked by large zergs if I am just trying to do map completion.
